Run away from these guys! American Home Shield (AHS) sent them out to access why my house would not get cooler than 85 degrees. Their "technician" said nothing was wrong! Really??? My system used to work great, even on hot days, but not anymore because something's obviously wrong. Then I receive an email offering me a complete new "no name" HVAC system for $5,600. If there was nothing wrong, why would I need a new system? Now, because of their incompetence (false report) or their desire to sell me a junk system, AHS will not do anything to fix my A/C. Anthem said they could perform an isolation test for an additional $1,200 on my dime. Uhhh....NO! Trust has been broken! I'm DONE with Anthem and DONE with AHS! You've been warned!! Please read some of the other bad reviews on here, they're eerily similar to my experience. I'm going to buy a quality system from an HONEST company called Priority One A/C in Palm Desert. Good luck folks! read more

Worst company ever. Was chosen by our home warranty company. Came out on Monday after I had to pay and extra $50 after-hours fee. Otherwise, the first appoint was in two more days. Said that the fan motor needed a part. Its been well over 100 and we still don't have the part. Now, their parts department is closing and we won't be able to schedule another appointment until Friday when they reopen - They won't schedule the follow up until the parts department confirms delivery. And that is just scheduling - it could be another 3 days before we get service because it will be the weekend. I understand the part ordering, etc. but not once did I receive a call from them telling me the status. I had to call 4 times yesterday and 3 times today to find out what was going on. So for 6 days, in July, in Palm Springs, there will be no air conditioning. Will be calling my home warranty company to make sure they never use this company again. At least for us. Otherwise - new home warranty company too. read more

I just saw one of their techs driving in their truck down the road. They have their dog in the back (old white lab) panting for who knows how long. This absolutely blows my mind because it's 107° out right now.. First of all there is plenty of room in the truck, I'm disgusted seeing this. I will never ever ever suggest these people to anyone with people like that working for them. read more

The management of Anthem should be embarrassed. I was referred to them through a Home Warranty company. Yes, we are experiencing hot weather and I am sure they are busy. But, after a full day and three telephone calls, there has been no response. With 115 degree heat, something had to be done. I called a competitor. They called back within 15 minutes, got to the house in 30 minutes, and repaired the A/C. That is a sign of a well run company that cares about its customers. There is NO excuse for such shoddy service. If Management cares to respond, let me know and I will be happy to give the American Home Shield Home Warranty info to them. Run a good company and provide good service and you will succeed. I have no doubt Anthem will be out of business in no time. read more

They are great! They responded as quickly as they could to my non-functioning AC, diagnosed the problem and came three days later to fix it. Alberto was great! Efficient, masked and made sure the job was done. I think they're great!!!!! read more

My home warranty company selected Anthem Mechanical to service my a/c problem but system went back on and I cancelled service call directly with company. I was charged copy for service call and have not received credit back from insurance company. Called Anthem and spoke with Liliana Luna, office manager who was incredibly professional, patient and listened to several questions I had in general about my equipment. She looked into whether insurance company received notice that service was cancelled and was thorough, patient and very helpful. To the owner of this company, Liliana is a great asset to your company and I would call your business again with or without home warranty insurance because of her. Carol Gross read more

We have a home warranty program and Anthem is the A/C contractor for them. Our house was up to 99 degrees when Miguel arrived. After my description of what happened, he went straight to the capacitor and sure enough that was it. 12 hours later were back to normal. read more

We used american home shield for the warranty service on our air conditioning. They assigned us Anthem Mechanical to fix the problem. I already paid another company to come out and tell me the King valves and coil were both leaking on a 30yr old system and the company was no longer in business so the valves probably cannot be replaced. They recommended a new system. It took Anthem 2 days to come out with temps in the high 90's and 100's. I told the tech Miguel what the issue was. After being there for about 30min he told me he needed to do an isolation test and that it would take a week to book and an additional week for results. Nexgen and The General Air both stated an isolation test took 24hrs. Customer service was even worse and unwilling to help. Spoke to Racquel and Martin and when asking about the service notes they were very short and rude. One even hung up on me and refused to answer the phone. I was told every day for a week that a manager would call me and NOTHING. When someone did finally call they told me my number was placed in the "Do Not Call" list. How did that happen? They then sent us a bill for $2750 to replace a coil and run a test but gave us the option to upgrade to a new system for $6100. Only the coil ($350) would be covered. This has been a nightmare and the worst company I have dealt with for AC repair. Highly recommend finding another company for your AC services. read more

Darryl came out and fixed the original problem (as was previously discussed with me by my original handyman's assumption). That made me feel good right off the bat. After the main problem was fixed I noticed things still were not working correctly as visualized on my thermostat. So I called Home Warranty who sent out Darryl again who was diligent and professional in thoroughly taking care of the problem I was experienceing in full. Great experience! read more

Our AC went out and we called American Shield who contracts with Anthem Mechanical. We also had issues with the AC/cool air not reaching the other end of our house. Anthem was able to send a technician out within a few days. Marcus was punctual, polite knowledgeable and considerate. He put on shoe covers when he walked in our house and removed them when he was in the attic, and then put them on again when he walked on our house floors. I'm a no shoes in the house person, so I really appreciated that. It turned out that we needed duct work that American Shield did not cover. Anyway, Marcus returned to our home a week later when the material ordered arrived. He did a great job with the duct work. He showed us photos of what he did and explained it in layman's terms. He also recommended a certain filter and grade for us to purchase to help reduce allergens that cause allergies/asthma. Our AC is working well and the south end of our home is cool now too! Thank you Marcus for a job week done! read more

I have a home warranty and gave been in the cold for over 2 months. Anthem said it would t as ke 6 weeks to get the part. At the 6 week mark they said they had to get another part and it would take 6 weeks. At the end of the next 6 weeks tg get said they had to order another part and it would take another 6 we eff m.j s. Three employees told me more than once, that if I was not using a home warranty, the part would be here in 3-12 days. I am a senior and have had to indear the coldest days of the winter all to get me to pay them to do the work without the warranty. They told me the parts were back ordered. When I got a new contractor, he made one phone call, 4 miles away, and it was never back ordered. My recommendation is to look at who will get t bgg e job done in a quick manner and be truthful. One day t hff ey arrived to install the part only to tell me t hff ey ne ed ded an additional part, and would go exchange it. They Anthem calls and says t hff ey have to order another part which will take another 6 weeks. When I cancelled them, the warranty company called and cancelled them, they called and said the part was in!!!! What a surprise. When they are cancelled the part magically arrives. Save yourself a horrible situation and consider other reliable hvc contractors. read more

We had Anthem come out through our home warranty to replace our A/C unfortunately they left wires exposed and attached a copper pipe to 2x4's on the roof... we called to complain and they said it's "to spec" and refuse to come out to fix it.... we now have to call someone else out to finish their job. read more

Anthem Mechanical installed a new furnace through an arrangement with my home warranty company. The technician was prompt and professional! There were no problems with the furnace and it functioned as expected right off the bat. There was a small amount of drywall damage and Anthem repaired that too, sending knowledgeable and extremely helpful staff members out for the repair. Thank you, Anthem and team! I recommend your services to all who are searching and will use you again if I need work outside the scope of my home warranty. Thanks again!! read more

I built one of the most successful Air Conditioning companies in Chicago! We were names the best Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Company in Chicago twice in the 1990s. I'm retired now and hired Anthem to replace 5 of the 6 systems in my our house. The finished product is gorgeous! I would have been proud to have said my company did it. Anthem's Sales Engineer knew what he was talking about. The Customer Service folks in the office cared and communicated perfectly. The technicians were clean, uniformed, polite, and technically astute! They knew what they were doing, communicated clearly, and worked hard to do quality work. I'd recommend them to anyone! 5 stars! read more

AHS had picked this contractor for our ac, wife spent all day calling, someone picking up, saying hello, and would hang up right away. So reached out to American Home Shield, saying contractor is playing games, AHS call and get through right away to a Rachel, as prior reviews state, she is an issue and rude. Didn't get that far personally, because pretty sure she was the one answering and hanging up right away, to the owner of the company, dare you to try and call and schedule an appointment, bet you get hung up on our a voicemail read more

We are 70 years old 65 years old. We did not have heat for 2 weeks .We called our home warranty company and they sent Anthem out asses and repaid the heater. Anthem had to come to our home 4 times to get the situation fixed. I called about 3 days after the technician was out to check the status on the part and this was on a Friday. I was told that the parts are in and that I can have a service call on Monday. Well, here it is Friday and I have no heat. I asked the person I spoke to named Liliana if they have weekend service. I was told yes they do. So, I asked if I can have service on Saturday and I was told that it is an extra charge of $50.00 or $75.00 I can not remember. I told her that if they fixed the heater in the first place I would not have this issue. We went back and forth and I lost. If I was in the situation where I could pay the extra money I probably would have. On a happy note. Andrew the technician is the best. Request him if you use this company. . read more

My parents are also part of the home warranty program, and these guys are doing the best they can within that contract. My parents air went out during the summer, and now their heater. The units are old. These guys have worked with my parents to repair as much as possible without having them pay thousands of dollars to replace the units. Yes, Anthem Mechanical has had to wait for approvals - but they've communicated with my parents the whole way through and have made the calls and advised us when we should start calling (squeaky wheel). And when something else went wrong due to the whole system being old, they came out immediately to fix it, no additional charges. They're happy with the service and response from this company. read more

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!!! Although their staff was friendly and their technician arrived on time...my appointment was scheduled the next day after I called into the AHS home warranty. The technician told me that my copper line to my AC unit had 2 leaks in it, 1 small crack visible to the eye and the other under the house. First of all...you can't tell that there are 2 leaks unless you were to repair the first one and then see or hear there is another under the house. Because of this "said leak" under the house, Anthem would have to run new line through my attic and outside my house and connect to the unit. Also my unit had leaked all of the R22 Freon out...AHS Warranty only covers $10 per lb of Freon and Anthem charges $110, my unit needs close to 15 lbs. also the new lines would not be covered by my AHS Warranty. Anyway, the technician had to send his report to the office so they could then get the approval from the AHS home warranty... Keep in mind, I am a single mother of 3 boys, sitting in a house that's 92 degrees...and don't know much about HVAC...my gut instinct told me to get a second opinion. I called Techno Desert Air and they arrived within 30 minutes to my home...they repaired the ONE CRACK in my line and recharged my unit for an extremely affordable price. There was not a second leak under my house like the Anthem tech told me. In my opinion, AHS is home warranty is not worth the money or headache and Anthem Mechanical is a joke...I personally work for a company that is a preferred vendor for insurance work and companies with ethics like Anthem mechanical is what give other businesses a bad name! If you want an honest HVAC guy, call Alberto at Techno Desert Air. Also, I'm not one to bash another company but I feel like if they did this to me, it's not their first rodeo! read more

My technician was polite, worked quickly and efficiently. Excellent job!!

Technician abandoned job site without performing work. Phone call with technician asking him to wait 5 minutes until I could arrive home for the job. Technician apologized and understood that I had a family problem to attend to and he suggested a reschedule but would not wait 5 minutes to accommodate customer. Unprofessional behavior. I don't recommend this company. Disabled veteran here. read more

The employees who came to the house were nice, but the salesman, and the owners, did not follow through with what they promised if we purchased an air-conditioner through them. There are too many other reputable businesses (who don't make empty promises) and will actually answer and respond to phone calls and texts. read more

After doing quite a bit of research we decided we wanted to have ecobee thermostats installed tried calling 3 other A/C contractors who either didn't return my calls or told me why the ecobee wasnt the answer So I contacted ecobee manufacturer to find out who installed their wifi thermostats in our area and they directed me to Anthem Because our situation was a little unique I explained our goal and why we wanted to use the ecobee thermostat and sensors to Mike and he gave us a great suggestion. Ernie installed our two thermostats and sensors and in an hour and everything was working to our satisfaction I would recommend Anthem they were helpful, courteous and their price was very reasonable read more

the worst of the worst they cheat you over priced and when working with AHs do not work with either one.

This is the third time I've used Anthem. Their technicians are trebly great. Always timely, work proficiently

Anthem Mechanical just cost me $1350 out of pocket! We went though our warranty company, American Home Shield, as our unit was not cooling. Almost immediately the Tech (the first of 3 from AM) said that we needed an isolation test to find the leak (I spoke with another very reputable AC company and they laughed saying that just got a call from another customer saying that AM wanted to do an isolation test on their system as well. They said they MAYBE do 1 isolation test every 5 years!). After AM cut our lines, drained all of our refrigerant, and completed their "test," all they were going to do was to replace the Schrader valve (which apparently is about a $5 to $10 part) and I was stuck a refrigerant bill for $1350! I had another company come out to complete the job and it turns out it was a loose wire on the back of the circuit board that was causing the different pressure readings. This other company said they get a lot of calls about Anthem Mechanical and this is their little scheme they pull on these warranty calls. No isolation test was needed and my system is back up and running NO THANKS to Anthem Mechanical! read more

What do you say. I signed up for an ac tune up 75.00. Of course I needed a new part 110.00. Tech left said the ac was perfect. Haha in us. He did not turn on the power to the unit. I called the Supervisor. He could not even say sorry. What kind of group is this?? Do you realize part of your job is to turn back on the ac unit? Highly unprofessional. Do not use these guys. read more

I'm sick to my stomach having to deal with this company. First purchased my ac almost two years ago and I can't go 6 months without something going wrong with this new ac. From a bad valve to defective coils to pressure leaks. Like 3 time it broken down and only a little over a year. Today my thermostat lost power leaving me without air. Tech shows up only to tell me whoever installed thermostat did it wrong. I was like u guys did install he was like 69$ please. So now I'm stuck paying for the poor workmanship that was done at my house. I'm done with this company and their schemes to make money. Biggest mistake I ever made. Beware and think twice before u purchase ac read more

Through my home warranty company American Home Shield Anthem was contacted to come revaluation the problem with my air conditioner. After looking at the unit and taking pressure readings they want to do a 7-9 day test on our system to check for leaks. In 95-105 degree temps were supposed to submit to a 7-9 day test? When you look at the condenser unit on the ground the leak is very obvious. The problem is that I want to get a second opinion and have someone else repair the system so I don't go without air conditioning for possibly two weeks total. In order to get a second opinion and use another vendor Anthem has to submit their diagnosis and they refuse to do so until they perform their 1 week long test! I'm held hostage by them and can not even get someone else to do the work. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told he was in training and would not be able to call for 3-4 days! He did finally call later that day and refuses to submit a diagnosis so I can transfer to another vendor. This has to be the worst service I've received in many years. Obviously my home warranty plays a role in this as well and their hands are tied until Anthem submits a diagnosis. I've been going around in circles for a week now and beyond frustrated. I'd love to just move on but held hostage by this system. read more

I had a very disappointing experience with Anthem. They came out to fix the AC in our Palm Desert home. They did not fix it correctly the first time. When I called to have them come back out they could not get a technician out until the next day. Okay, fine. (On a side note, every repair and maintenance company should always have emergency services.) But, when I asked if they would pay for or give a partial payment for the hotel we would have to stay in for the night, since it was 108 degrees out and a furnace inside the house, they flat out refused. This is extremely poor customer service since it was their fault that it was not fixed the first time and we are being greatly inconvenienced. I write this because customer service keeps getting worse and nobody seems to care. It matters and we as consumers need to speak out! The worst part, if it can get any, is the secretary was extremely rude, did not apologize or seem liked she cared, and actually hung up on me after I told her this was very disappointing and not good customer service. Their slogan on their website even states "Customer Satisfaction Guaranteed" with a man and women in the background giving a thumbs up. I guess they only satisfy their customers on their terms. Very disappointing. I know that my request was extremely reasonable. Hopefully, they take this post seriously and make changes that their future customers deserve. I will not use this company in the future nor recommend them based solely on their customer service. read more

WARNING!!!!!!!!! RUN - DO NOT WALK TO THE NEAREST EXIT. This company has been one of the worst experiences of my life. There is not enough room here to detail all of the issues over the past two years. I have been hung up on by one of the "ladies" in the office and called a liar by one of their technicians. I was even accidentally connected with another customer on hold and we had quite a conversation about our horrible experiences. I think his problems even trumped mine. Extremely rude and unprofessional organization to say the least. I am now forced to hire another company (and pay again) for repairs that Anthem could not or would not do to a system that they installed. If you are led to this company by American Home Shield (as I was) you are advised to call AHS and request or demand another company be assigned to your job. Another company may not be any better, since AHS seems to hire the very bottom of the barrel, but I don't believe that they would be any worse. It is beyond my imagination how this company is still in business. Oh, how I wish I had gone to law school like my mother wanted. read more
