I hired this vendor to come out and diagnose the issue with my AC system. After the technician came out to the unit he departed without providing any update on the system or what's going on. After calling in, I was informed that the technician found that I needed an original part blower from the manufacturer and that they would need to order the part. I asked a simple timeframe so that I could plan accordingly as this is the desert, my home is 90+ degrees, I have elderly grandmother living with me, and the only thing they said is it could take days or weeks - we don't know.. I asked to speak to the parts department and they would only give me the run around and say the parts lady was either on the phone or stepped out of the office. Never actually providing any useful information other than we'll call you when we have an update to share. This business is extremely unaccommodating, uncommunicative, and unprofessional. This company hates to do warranty work. I had a AC problem and I was told that I needed a new AC unit when in fact I didn't need a new one. After getting another AC company out here to check the system, it was determined that it was low on freon, so whatever you do, stay away from this company, they hate warranty work but they're quick to try to sell you a new unit, plus the tech had a terrible attitude as well as the two women who work the phones! Had another company come out today and they found no evidence of any leaks and the freon level was normal. A/C is running fine which solidifies the fact that I was lied to by Charles from Anthem AC. I concur with the other posts. Anthem has some shady deal with American Home Shield. Anthem said I needed a whole new furnace and ordered the parts without me even approving the repair work. The out of pocket cost was going to be around $2,500. Then they tried to upsell me a whole new HVAC system. I paid another company not associated with Anthem or American Home Shield to give me an honest 2nd opinion. All I needed was a new gas valve, which cost less than $200. DO NOT TRUST these con-artists! They are out to rip you off! read more

Julian and his assistant did a great job in a timely fashion and now I can turn on my heat as it was not getting any air in the home before he replaced the ductwork. Do not use this company for your air conditioner needs. On Friday, July 10, 2020 at 6:00pm our Air Conditioner unit went out. I phoned Anthem Mechanical at 7:34pm and received their after hours on call voicemail. I left a voicemail and have not received a phone call back. Today is now Monday, July 13, 2020. It was 116 degrees in the desert on Friday and the temperatures over the weekend got up to 123 degrees. For them being in the air conditioner industry, one would think that they would know about the importance of needing an air conditioner and calling the consumer back for assistance. We ended up calling Comfort Air and they were out to our home within 1 hour. Comfort Air fixed it so we had air conditioning that night and they are here installing a new unit today. Anthem could have gotten our money but their lack of care and follow through is awful. I do not recommend this business to anyone. It is now Monday and I have not received a phone call back from them. Shame on you, Anthem Mechanical. I don't know how you are in business at this point. Please stay clear of this business. read more

I had both an air-conditioning problem and a swamp cooler problem. Lets start with the swamp cooler. as a customer of fidelity home insurance they sent out Anthem. These guys came up with 4 items that they said were modifications that I had to pay for separately or they would not do the job of replacing my unit. I got a second opinion and the other company GIBSON said that they included these charges as part of doing the job NOT material modifications. Example connecting the old wires to the new unit anthem wanted $150.00 this is just RIP OFF time. The owner I contacted Mike Solomon and he tried to defend this outrageous money grab. He acts cocky and is not humble. They also did an isolation test on my air conditioner that was faulty and should have never been done to get money out of the insurance company. The second opinion said they should have tried other easier less expensive fixes before doing this test. They left the unit not connected after the test and sent me a letter that they would connect it. Now they claim I did not act fast enough and refuse to honor their word. I told them because of Covid I did not contact them to do the work. Non the less they said they would do it and now they complain that I missed my chance. Remember readers file a complaint with the state contractors board when they do you wrong. They will learn soon enough. Bottom line stay way from these money mongers. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would, this company is so dishonest and has horrible customer service. My A.C. unit recently began having problems and through my home owners insurance, American Home Shield, this company was sent to evaluate and fix my unit. They came on Saturday to do the initial consult and check and I was told at that time I needed an evap coil as we as "modifications" which they repeatedly would not specify what modifications were need and the unit is only a few years old which seemed odd. On Monday I followed up with the company and they stated they had ordered the parts and Tuesday I called again and they stated again the parts had been ordered and they were waiting for them to arrive. On Wednesday I called again and this time was told they needed my credit card info to order the said parts that were supposedly ordered Monday. I was very upset they hadn't ordered the parts they said they ordered and was uneasy to give them my card info as I have NEVER paid for a job from any company prior to them actually performing the job. It just seemed extremely dishonest and unprofessional. I contacted my home owners insurance for a second opinion and the next company that came out same day fixed the unit without a coil replacement or "modifications." I contacted American Home Shield to report this dishonest company so they could not continue doing this to other people. read more

Made a service call through our home warranty and it was assigned to anthem mechanical. We received a phone call from anthem within minutes of placing the service call with our warranty provider. Anthems technician, Andrew arrived at our house within 30 minutes of the initial call. He diagnosed the problem very quickly and had all of the necessary parts on his truck to make the repair. Andrew was very knowledgeable and gave us all the details on an upgrade program through anthem to replace our air conditioning systems which are very very old and the refrigerant for them will no longer be available in about 18 months. Worst AC experience ever. Company just walked off the job with the temperature outside at 106 degrees before the 3 day Labor Day weekend. They spent 2 days attempting to fix our AC system. 20+ year employee gave up on the 2nd day and said "I can't fix it" got in his work truck & drove away, but not before mouthing off to my wife. Literally unbelievable! No side story here. These are the brutal facts. Called the company and rude receptionist tried defending the employee. Was stunned! Where do they get these workers? Any customer service training? Obviously zero...none. Just looked at all the Yelp reviews. They are all either 1s (majority) or 5s. I now believe all the 5s are fake & planted. Their website states they care about their customers. Nothing could be further from the truth! Our air conditioner went out on a Sat morning. Anthem was assigned our request from our warranty company. Ivan, the tech, came out and gave us a 15 min heads up and was right on time. He started to take the unit apart and found an issue with internal wires. He replaced the wires and the unit worked well. We were expecting the worse but Ivan went from top to bottom on the unit, found the problem and fixed it. Very appreciative for the extra effort to fix the unit especially in 112 deg weather. read more

Absolutely horrible! My parents, over 80, were without air conditioning in 120 degree weather for 3 weeks. Granted, they were the vendor for a home warranty company, but they, not the home warranty company, gave an incorrect diagnosis and kept on stalling to do the repair. I asked to speak to the supervisor twice, and was never transferred or received a call back. They said they were waiting for a part, and promised they would fix it, day after day. After weeks of waiting, they tried to sell my parents a new unit. I was so upset and didn't want to give Anthem Mechanical a penny of my money for a new unit after their tactics. I called another company, and they showed up 2 hours later, added some coolant, and the air conditioner started to work. The technician said the unit should last a few more months, and now I'm happy to pay for a new air conditioner with Paul's Air conditioning and Heating. Very nice and HONEST. read more

Run away from these guys! American Home Shield (AHS) sent them out to access why my house would not get cooler than 85 degrees. Their "technician" said nothing was wrong! Really??? My system used to work great, even on hot days, but not anymore because something's obviously wrong. Then I receive an email offering me a complete new "no name" HVAC system for $5,600. If there was nothing wrong, why would I need a new system? Now, because of their incompetence (false report) or their desire to sell me a junk system, AHS will not do anything to fix my A/C. Anthem said they could perform an isolation test for an additional $1,200 on my dime. Uhhh....NO! Trust has been broken! I'm DONE with Anthem and DONE with AHS! You've been warned!! Please read some of the other bad reviews on here, they're eerily similar to my experience. I'm going to buy a quality system from an HONEST company called Priority One A/C in Palm Desert. Worst company ever. Was chosen by our home warranty company. Came out on Monday after I had to pay and extra $50 after-hours fee. Otherwise, the first appoint was in two more days. Said that the fan motor needed a part. Its been well over 100 and we still don't have the part. Now, their parts department is closing and we won't be able to schedule another appointment until Friday when they reopen - They won't schedule the follow up until the parts department confirms delivery. And that is just scheduling - it could be another 3 days before we get service because it will be the weekend. I understand the part ordering, etc. but not once did I receive a call from them telling me the status. I had to call 4 times yesterday and 3 times today to find out what was going on. So for 6 days, in July, in Palm Springs, there will be no air conditioning. Will be calling my home warranty company to make sure they never use this company again. At least for us. Otherwise - new home warranty company too. read more

The management of Anthem should be embarrassed. I was referred to them through a Home Warranty company. Yes, we are experiencing hot weather and I am sure they are busy. But, after a full day and three telephone calls, there has been no response. With 115 degree heat, something had to be done. I called a competitor. They called back within 15 minutes, got to the house in 30 minutes, and repaired the A/C. That is a sign of a well run company that cares about its customers. There is NO excuse for such shoddy service. If Management cares to respond, let me know and I will be happy to give the American Home Shield Home Warranty info to them. And that's from someone who works in property management and works with dozens of different vendors, technicians, and specialists every week. On one of the hottest day of the year my AC broke down at my vacation rental I was very afraid the house was going to be too hot for my guests. Anthem came on time which was key in this situation as my unit is located on the second floor and the drain clogged causing water to back up inside the house.
