We stayed at the Patriot's Inn which is right next to the restaurant. We were a little reluctant to come in because I saw this place had under 4 stars, but I'm so glad we did. I came with a group of 6, and we were sat almost immediately even though the place was filled to the brim. Our waiter was amazing, he was very up beat and great with the kids. Our food even came out quickly even though they had a full house. I ordered the Monterey Omelette, it was good, but it wasn't my favorite. My sister in law got the bourbon pancakes and they were absolutely delicious. I'd go back just for those pancakes. Overall it was a nice experience. Main meal I had the Chicken & waffles , this was good nice tasting chicken , decent waffles, the chicken is what saved this dish. Hubby had Hash brown Benedict, not bad. Was in town with my friend for the day and decided to stop here for breakfast. We were drawn in by the menu, which features a lot of dishes you don't usually see at a typical breakfast spot. Overall a great breakfast spot! There is plenty of parking, and service is great. We were seated right away, and our server was great to get a booster chair for my little one before I even asked for one. There are kids activities that they provide (crayons and coloring paper), which is a bonus! We ordered the crab cake benedict, shrimp and grits, french toast, and pancakes and eggs from the kids menu. The crab cake benedict and french toast was very good. Nearly every breakfast/brunch place is pricy for the type of food. But that doesn't stop us when you are out of town. I visited Another Broken Egg Cafe in Williamsburg for breakfast. I had a delicious vegetable omelette with a fresh fruit cup side, rye toast, and a cup of coffee. Everything was delicious. Yes, you might say it was a little on the price high side but I left the Cafe feeling I had a great healthy breakfast. I am noticing more and more upscale breakfast eateries. Bacon was so overcooked that it shattered when a piece hit the floor. No whipped cream on apple fritter French toast but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. I will say Cinnamon french toast was amazing, though. And the beignets were nicely crisp! Service ok. My husband got the city grits which were watery. I appreciated the gluten free toast. They also have gluten free pancakes and waffles. I saw a sign for a soft shell crab scramble so we went back the next day. It was wonderful. My husband got the crab cake Benedict. I recently went in there to pick up an order. I've been DoorDash and out here for about six years and I was kind of insulted and I don't think the manager took me serious enough. I mean he was very dull on the phone and he sounded like he really didn't care or wanted to be bothered however, I was sitting there waiting for my order and a Dasher came in front of me and grabbed the bag with ease without being questioned however I'm in a button down shirt, I actually have a bag to put the food in with DoorDash markings on my vehicle and I was pretty much pressed to confirm the order and it seems like the lady was not gonna let me go without confirming it which is fair the problem I have here is the inconsistency. I really didn't appreciate that. If you guys are gonna have a policy, then you have to be consistent. Otherwise I just feel discriminated against and that is not cool. I came here with my friend and definitely would not recommend it. I was given dirty utensils twice after I had asked for new one and their cups also seemed dirty. My friend had also asked for gluten free toast but it came out moldy. Luckily I had noticed before she took a bite. This is probably one of my favorite breakfast spots in VA - Williamsburg. The service is tremendous and our waitress was exceptionally attentive to details and always around when my group of friends needed something. The restaurant sits right by a busy intersection on the road leading to the Colonial Market square and the Outlet, but it is clean and easy to find. I had the biscuits and gravy with a side of the City grits (loaded grits) and it was perfectly prepared. Every bite was delicious and satisfying. The portion was generous and filling. Conveniently located at Bypass and Richmond roads, this was a great little breakfast find. Mario was our server and he was amazing! Great personality, very friendly and showed up at just the right time for refills. The food food portions were huge. I had the power bowl, mom had the smoked salmon benedict, and my hubby had the mardi gras omelette. The grits were thick and creamy, the omelette was stuffed full of shrimp and crawfish, and the smoked salmon was perfect and served with all of the accompaniments. For our food, I had the veggie omelet, and my partner had the apple fritter French toast. We shared the biscuit beignets. All of our food was hot, and prepared as ordered. The location was very easy to find and the dining room was very clean and up to date. The menu options were plentiful and ranged from basic to dishes for only the discriminating tastebuds. The menu lacked vegan options so I had to "create" a meal by adding and subtracting to an item already on the menu. My dining companion had the Mardi Gras omelette which looked yummy and they enjoyed it very much. The service was good.Bloody Mary . It didn't say it came with bacon on the menu so I had to send it back because of it. But they remade it quickly. A little spicy but not too overwhelming. I would certainly give them another try. I also tried their beignets, tasty but definitely should've been call doughnut hole imposters as they in no shape, size or form resembled any beignet I had in New Orleans.they were also overcooked as well...just didn't quite live up to their origins rooted in the south. My husband and I were super excited to try this cafe but we feel as the food was just average. We got seated by one of the managers and once he sat us he stood by the entrance and was just staring at us and the vibe seemed a little off. Also the severs did not look happy at all, no one was smiling or anything. I had asked for an iced vanilla coffee and was brought out a nitro cold brew and my husband had a piece of napkin or some kind of paper in his pancakes. I took the time to go to another broken egg Café because I wanted to try a restaurant that served breakfast/brunch but I did not want to go to the run-of-the-mill places. When I arrived at another broken egg, I was a bit confused about where to go but the staff was very friendly and pointed me in the right direction. I was at a table with a waitress who was really welcoming and nice. She presented the menu and asked was this my first time. I told her that it was and she offered some wonderful suggestions on the menu for things for me to consider. She also featured the holiday menu that had some limited edition items for me to review. After she did that, she took my drink order, and she went to grab my drink. I decided to order the lemon goat cheese, pancakes, and they came out hot fluffy and delicious. I ordered a side of scrambled eggs with their baked bacon. The food was absolutely delicious. My server kept checking on me to make sure that everything was going well. If you are in the Williamsburg area, I would suggest that you and your family come by another broken egg Café. The food is good. The options are plentiful and it is a wonderful environment for you to sit down. Relax and enjoy the people around you. Our server was very friendly and gave us space to enjoy our morning. We ordered the chilaquiles and the fruit & honey waffle. I loved the chilaquiles. They were full of flavor and filling. I had to get a box and they reheated well the next day. The fruit & honey waffles were not as much of a hit. The waffles were good, but the honey sauce was too much. It was very quiet inside so we were able to enjoy our food without any distractions. The service extremely slow. We waited about 10-15 minutes after we were sat down before any waiter showed up to ask us for drinks. After they showed up, we waited another 10 minutes before we got our coffees. I got the hash brown Benedict and the city grits which was really good and my wife got the biscuits and gravy which was decent. Generally, when I'm out of town I don't prefer to eat at establishments I can visit back home with the exception of Another Broken Egg Cafe and that's only because I was put on to Another Broken Egg while out of town THEN they finally brought one to my state last year. Nonetheless, I digress. That said, this particular location missed the mark for me. The food just was not up to the quality I've known to expect from ABEC. The eggs seemed fake unlike the other establishments which use real eggs, cracked fresh and prepared to order. The eggs here were definitely giving liquid batch eggs. The pound cake French toast was also off. Not sure if it was previously frozen or just not prepared properly but something was off. They were dry and crumbly while I'm used to them being pillowy soft and melt in your mouth. The pound cake french toast is actually one of the reasons I feel in love with ABEC, next to the strawberry mimosas! My son enjoyed his bacon and cinnamon roll pancakes. The chicken apple sausage was tasty, my son enjoyed that as well. The service was great. I would definitely be back to visit ABEC again, just not sure it would be this location. I have eaten shrimp and grits many many times all over on our travels and this was by far the worst one ever!! Tiny tiny shrimp, of which there were 6 , had NO flavor and tasted like they were thrown in as an afterthought. The peppers and onions were still crunchy, and I bit into a huge piece of bay leaf that was not removed after cooking the sauce, of which most of the meal consisted of. I would not have even eaten it, but after my son in law shelled out $18.99 for it ... I choked half of it down because I felt so bad at leaving almost $20 on my plate.
