    Introduction
    Nicole M.

Had an amazing time at the Jamestown Settlement. I chaperoned my sons class field trip, and the experience was very enlightening. I gained a lot of information that I had not known about this area. It really opened my eyes to the large amount of history that we have in the Hampton Roads area. If you are looking for a historical trip where the kids will not only be entertained but also gain knowledge. This is the place to be. You will not be disappointed in your visit.

Nice place. We were expecting expensive, lousy food. We were very surprised. If you are visiting Jamestown, great place to eat then go back to the Settlement.

Cafeteria style, and fantastic! Fresh, original recipes at reasonable prices. This is not your high school cafeteria!

Love eating here. The chef salad and chili cheese fries are my favorites. Staff is friendly.

They had a nice selection I would say it's cafeteria style.

Okay, I'm rounding down on this location and our recent visit, but overall, I would say 3 1/2…read morestars. Let's begin with the positives: Our server was very nice, inattentive, and friendly. I do wish I remembered her name. The meals were as good as you would expect at a First Watch location. Now let me touch on the not-so-positive: For some unknown reason, the two over-medium eggs came out separate from all the other items and came to the table about 3-4 minutes later. I have no good reason why that would have happened. Although it did not happen to us - we saw folks after us wait 5 minutes or so before the greeter met them. It happened to two different sets of folks and yes the place was busy but not like that. Now something that is a way I look at places and their possible cleanliness. Since I can't see into the kitchen. What do I mean - the restrooms. My wife used the ladies' room and said it had issues. Yes, the toilets and all were clean-looking but she said it had dirt and dust that had been there for a while. She described it as someone only doing "quick surface cleaning." When she said this and as someone who prides themselves on my Yelp presence and went to the men's room. It wasn't like what she had seen in the ladies' room. But it had a ton of use that morning and no staff had touched it up. Lastly, and what makes me sad about my visit. How I was treated as I left and paid our bill. I (absolutely my fault) misread my check. I thought it was about $5 less than what the fella checking me out mentioned. I was absolutely polite when I was like "Oh I thought it was less." When in a disrespectful/slick tone the fella said "I don't make this stuff up." I was totally taken aback. I don't know who he thinks he was talking to. So with all this said - I will suggest this - there are plenty of great food places in the Williamsburg area and I am fairly sure I will not visit here again. Just too many little issues.

They're actually building one near where we live, so this was a good chance to check it out before it opens. The restaurant only serves breakfast and lunch, but it's a nice size with plenty of tables and even a bar area for seating. Once we were seated, our waitress greeted us warmly, explained a few menu highlights, and mentioned some popular items to try. We had just missed the early bird special, but it was nice to know they offer one. My wife ordered the Sausage Gravy over a Biscuit from the small plates menu. I went with the Maple Bacon Croissant Sandwich, which comes with million-dollar maple bacon, sausage, eggs, cheddar, apricot jam, and jalapeños. It was very good, though next time I'd skip the sausage and stick with just the bacon to let the flavors shine more. Overall, we're excited to see First Watch coming to our town, and when we're back in Williamsburg, we'll definitely stop in again.

Nearly every breakfast/brunch place is pricy for the type of food. But that doesn't stop us when you are out of town. Unless you have a full kitchen to make breakfast, you're at the mercy of the establishments you in which you eat. Taking nothing away from ABE! Our waitress was attentive and the restaurant was clean and well maintained. See the pics included for the meals we got. Two of our party got the three stack pancakes. No pics. I give ABE credit, they have some unique dishes to partake.

The atmosphere: The dining area is spacious with both booths and tables, and there's also a bar inside. The food: I started with the Caramel Cold Brew, and it was overwhelmingly sweet, more like a latte than a cold brew. For my meal, I ordered the Chicken and Waffles. The waffles were fine but pretty standard, and the chicken tenders lacked seasoning. The side of hot honey helped, but it still felt like the dish needed more flavor overall. The service: Our server was a bit awkward, but still friendly and attentive. Overall, the service felt a little inconsistent.

Nothing wrong with this little grab-and-go carry out shop but at the same time, I wouldn't call it anything ahhhhmazzzzinggggg that would warrant more than just an average 3 star rating. Better than and more options than a hotel lobby self serve "mini mart." They serve self serve coffee (Members, don't forget to ask for your complimentary daily coffee tickets upon check-in!) but this place also has a barista for hot or iced lattes. Decent lattes, thankfully made with espresso shots not watered down or weak & wimpy. On par with what you would get at Starbucks. The latte menu is NOT extensive so don't expect a long latte/coffee drink menu like at Starbucks. I posted a pic of the latte/tea/juice/bfast sando menu with prices so have a look. Staff is SUPER NICE but both times I was there getting a hot latte, there was ONE WORKER each time running cash AND barista-ing. Not many more can fit behind that tiny ordering counter frankly. Thus - if you see any kind of long line, BE PREPARED TO WAIT. Or come back during non-rush hours. (Remember this is a conference center so it is highly likely conference attendees will be lining up to order before the start of the conference day and in between sessions throughout the day!) I read on their website that all their baked goods and pastries as well as sandwiches, salads etc are freshly house made there on prem so that's nice. Prices are not break the bank (for a hotel). My small hot vanilla latte was $7. Like I said - as a hotel lobby grab-and-go so you don't have to walk far or drive to get your latte-fix on, The Cupboard is right-there-convenient and will absolutely do just fine. If you DO feel like going off the property to go to an indie coffee shop, I drove to and tried the relatively new Grit Coffee in Midtown for the first time - pretty good (read my review and see my pics): Or go to the ever-famous Aromas in CW near the William&Mary campus, an OG legend which imo is overhyped but still a good option - parking can be a pain, frankly better to walk there from the hotel (it's prob a 20 min walk to Aromas but you walk straight down beautiful CW - on a nice day, can't beat that.).
