My family and a few friends stopped here on our way home from vacation. The wait for a party of 8 was 45+ minutes, which for a Saturday morning in Orange Beach was understandable, but the hostess looked at our group as if we had just kicked her dog. Her one job is to be friendly and take names, but she was extremely rude and acted annoyed that our party was so large, even though we didn't mind waiting. Our waitress was friendly, but not attentive. I asked for silverware 3 times before getting up to find some myself. I don't remember her name, so going into extreme detail about her service would be irrelevant. I ordered the black bean "Benny", which comes with a poached egg on top - or at least, it's supposed to. My egg, along with everyone else's poached eggs were completely cooked through. It was baffling to me that the word "egg" is in the business name and ALL of our eggs were over cooked. The rest of the food was decent. The service was awful. Our experience at this location is a terrible representation of this restaurant at other locations that we've been to (In Dallas and Houston). read more

This was probably the best breakfast we have had on a vacation. The pancakes were big and fluffy and the service was amazing. I have a gluten and egg allergy and when I asked if the gluten friendly pancakes contained eggs, the staff quickly went to look up the ingredients to ensure I could have them. Husband had pancakes. He loved them and he's a pancake connoisseur! I got the bacon sandwich and it was beyond delicious!

What a great little find!! In yet another strip mall on Canal! Love these places!! We got there right in between the early morning diners and the late, brunch time diners. Walked in, table for 2, sat right away! If you're a first timer you get a small order of their wonderful Beignets, served with a honey marmalade. Yum!! I had a spiked coffee (vanilla vodka), served in a mason jar, too cute. Not my fave but I drank it. Hubs and I both ordered an omelette and they were huge, a little dry. He requested no mushroom, it was delivered with. So, they remade it super fast. He was happy with it. Mine was ok, but what I loved were the City Grits! Now I am a city girl, but grew up on southern food that Grandma made! I love me some grits! These were full of flavor and covered with Green onions, tomatoes, cheese and bacon! Soooo good! The prices were average and our waitress was very nice and knowledgeable. Then, to my surprise, at the end of our meal she said she had a gift! Wow! I think this was the best breakfast I've ever had. I was concerned at first when our hostess didn't appear to know what she was doing. We almost left during the 15 minute wait at the door. So glad we stayed and enjoyed the food. Anytime I'm in Orange Beach/Gulf Shores this will be a stop. All four of us tried a different dish. I had the gravy and biscuits with sausage. First time visiting this place. It was on a weekday and school had started so the tourism had died down some. We were greeted and seated immediately by the friendly hostess. Since it was our first time we we're given an order of complimentary beignet's with orange marmalade. Nice treat! The food did take a while to be served, but everything tasted great. I try never to hand out 5 star reviews, because I can always find something wrong with a service. Not at ABEC. The service was amazing. The food was delicious. The owner / manager was clearly coaching her staff on how she wanted things done - she was active and vibrant and had great hair. On to breakfast. We split crab cake eggs Benedict and a lobster omelette. Bear in mind people, we are not seafood people. They were both AMAZING. We loved both of them. We also got the city grits and if I had only one complaint, it was that they might have had a bit *gasp* too much bacon, which I didn't think was actually possible. So while tasty, they were just a scoch overpowered by the bacon. Everything else was on point, especially the service - so I break my normal grading scale and 5 stars it is. Well done! read more

Hostess took my # to text me when our table was ready, so my family of 6 went to wait in the car due to no waiting area. Came in to inquire after 40min of no txt. Other customers informed me they were calling by names not txting. So we had been skipped numerous times. Finally sat down to dirty food stuck on silverware. Another 40min to receive food. We had breakfast here, it was good but it was also crowded and we had to wait about 30 minutes for breakfast which is not the best breakfast we've ever had but overall a good trip we had fun. We used to love coming here last year, this visit was awful. Waited 45 minutes for our food, and they weren't even busy yet. One member of our group ordered the Floridian omelet, the English muffin was a black hockey puck when it came out, as a server she should have never even taken that out to a customer. The omelet was also burned and dried out. The server was brand new and said stop there dumb founded when we showed her these things.. never returned the plate to the kitchen nor offered to fix it. Completely Satisfied, Definitely Recommended! The only thing better than the food is the service. We were seated in Fallon's section & by the time we were finished with our meal it felt like we were out having breakfast with one of our long time close personal friends. We enjoyed the food & company of Fallon so much that we made the 30 minute drive & returned to A.B.E for breakfast the next four days in a row. You just don't get that type of service anymore. This was our first visit to this restaurant and for the most part, it was good. The young man that seated us seemed put out that we didn't want to sit outside. We are traveling with my parents who are in their 70's. The young waitress was good and very helpful when the order was taken wrong for the two kids 10 and under. My main issue was that I barely touched my breakfast, crab cake and fried green tomatoes and it was evident that I didn't eat but a few bites. I think crab cakes should be crisp and not burnt She never asked about my plate being almost as full as it was when she sat it in front of me. Stumbled upon the place yesterday in a strip center and was quite impressed. Cute decor and welcoming inside. We were asked if it was our first visit and it was, so they brought over a small order of beignets! Amazing! I thought the ones in New Orleans were good, but these are even better with a honey marmalade dipping sauce. Husband ordered the pork eggs Benedict and he enjoyed it very much. The side of potatoes was perfect, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I suspect they soak them overnight in cold water to make them so good! I had chicken & waffles. Chicken tenders tasted very fresh, better than the standard chicken tenders you normally get. The warm syrup had the slightest hint of spice (heat) which made it really unique but in a good way. Busy place with lots of wait staff in front of house. Waited over 5 min. to be seated. Waitress was friendly and efficient. The kitchen, however, was another story. Food took forever, and this was true across the board. We even received our food before a table of 3 who had already been seated when we walked in. Crab cake Benedict had perfectly poached egg over tasty crab cakes. The Hollandaise sauce was not a flavorful addition. The scramble pictured was filled with ham, some bacon, and thick cheese. Butter provided for the dry English muffin spilled since it was totally melted. The country potato side was generic, reminded me of Friendly's, and waaay too salty. Delicious breakfast! I got the "Floridian" omelette with the lump crab meat. It was wonderful. My husband got the "Hey Lucy" and he enjoyed his as well. If you're here during the summer you need to be up superearly for any of these breakfast/brunch spots. I'm typically never up early enough to beat the tourist crowd, but this morning we walked right in and got a table immediately. Breakfast was banging. I had the street corn sampler with grits and beignets. The full order of beignet biscuits were four dusted with powered sugar and honey marmalade on the side. This stuff rivals Cafe Du Monde. Can't even explain how good everything was. My husband raved about his meal, which was some sort of loaded omelette with lobster. My daughters had the waffles and chocolate chip pancakes. They also have cocktails and spiked coffees. I went with a regular black coffee and it couldn't have been better. My husband had a Bloody Mary and it was definitely one of the best I've ever tasted with a perfect back heat. The inside of this place appears pretty generic and it's located in a strip mall on Canal. I really wasn't prepared for such an amazing breakfast but I'll be back and I absolutely recommend. Also, if you're here when it gets super busy I did see where you can put your name in for a virtual line and it'll tell you the wait time if you wanna check it out before you get there. Love this chain however It was not clear that we had to go into the cafe and double check in to ensure that we were on the waitlist, I loved this option because many people were not reading the signage that said to stay clear of the lobby if someone was already standing there. However when a friend of mine went to the host to ask for an updated time with appropriate social distancing at tables she was told we weren't even on the list yet, the app had us listed and we had been waiting for almost 30 minutes. We ended up leaving since we would've had to wait for another 30 minutes. The appropriate wait time was only 15-30 when we arrived. read more

We have been to this location before and had a much better experience but this time was different. Our food took an hour to arrive and when it did they mentioned that they did not have the sauce for one of the dishes we had ordered. They offered to have us wait another 30 minutes or replace the sauce with something else. Two of the dishes were cold. And the manager only took $4 off of one dish. The menu has a wide variety of options which makes it a great place to keep coming back to. It's slightly pricey ($12-$15 per person) for breakfast but it is well worth it!
