Southern Hospitality at its finest. The challenges of finding eateries suitable to your taste buds and dietary needs are one of the frustrating joys that accompany traveling. I found this not so hidden local gem via google since Yelp's still had my location in Arkansas. This spot is catered for locals more so than touristy travelers. Service: A A for Amazing. Southern hospitality is a nice change of pace compared to California's egocentric selfish culture. Location: A Located in a large strip mall next to a big hospital. The corner eatery is not visible but the strip mall is. Decor: A Modern interior decor compared to the throwback setting I am accustomed to when in the Southern territories. The patio is nice with all the heat lamps since it was chilly the morning i visited. Plenty of space to cater to hungry patrons. Food: A Mardi Gras Omlette. The seafood flare was unique with my egg white mix. The flavors were wonderful and not inundated with salt. Add the home-made pepper sauce and this sucka was bomb. Biscuits. Standard. Grits w/ Cheese. I wasn't too sure what the heck grits were (corn meal). I often had it confused with other oatmeal or porridge. I was wrong. The grits were semi-sweet, possibly filled with molasses and the cheese on top is brilliant. They offer something called city grits with bacon and other stuff. This option was chosen over the starches (potato). Mixed Berry Pancake. Perfect amounts of sweet, succulent, and juicy berries to add to the rich/thick pancake mix. They add strawberries on top. I get my pancakes with no butter or powder sugar so that I can taste the pancakes rather than a pan fried butter-sugar stick hence my pancake pics aren't as pretty as others. Overall: A I would venture here often if i was a local. It was a great place to nourish the soul when 2,000 miles from home. Would I come back? If I am in Memphis enough and exhausts all my options (which will not occur), then Yes. For sure. However I only have one small stomach with limited time when out here so for now I would opt to experience other wonderful eateries SW TN has to offer. Happy eatings peoples :D read more

We stopped here our second day in Memphis for breakfast for the party of five. Parking is easy they have a giant lot in this shopping center. We use the app called no wait so our table is ready as soon as we arrived. Otherwise there's a half hour wait if you just walk up. OK, our server was Nick, but we really can't be sure because he has a twin brother working here as well. We had a large array of omelettes and grits all the food is great and reasonably priced given the quality. The specialty drinks menu is average size everybody enjoyed their cocktail, except for the Irish coffee was very poorly done. Don't come to Memphis and ask for Ireland! Should've had a Mamosa. Terrible staff and food experience. I called in to ask questions about their online ordering to find out why there was no where to place custom requests or notes such as "cook crispy/well done" but instead ended up having a very awkward phone interaction with a worker who had an attitude in which she proceeded to repeat that "they can't do anything with orders over the phone, everything must be put in online or you have to physically come in to place the order and wait for the order". I might have been willing to ignore or look past the worker's attitude problem if the food was good. However, they missed the mark on that as well so you can imagine how upsetting it is to not only have to deal with poor customer service and pay for it but to pickup the food and it taste terrible. If you are looking for a breakfast place, I highly suggest you keep looking and don't waste your time with the "Another Broken Egg Cafe" on Park Ave. They wasted my taste buds, my money, and my gas so don't let them waste your's. read more

Went in this morning at 0745 to have breakfast. Seated immediately, but no one came over to check with us or ask our drink orders. Service given to the the two tables right around us, but still no one came by. A couple came in at 0750, they were seated right next to us, were immediately met by a waitress and drinks brought to them. Another couple was seated around 0754. They were next to bar served immediately as well. A third couple was seated in the farthest corner from us at 0756. The waitress who had served the couple immediately behind us went and helped them. We left at 0800, handing our menus and silverware back to the hostess. Disappointing. We went to the IHOP on germantown parkway in Cordova, where we helped immediately. We've been there numerous times and never had an issue; we should've stuck with our routine. read more

Oh my from the service to the food it was a great experience from V. I ordered the Banana Foster waffle with andoullie sausage. That was the best soft crispy waffle , with the topping and the andoullie sausage pan fried, I was taken to heaven and returned a angel. Two teenagers (at front desk) on their phones when we arrived at 12:45 Sun 9/10/23. We joined the waitlist 20 min prior so our wait time should have been down to 15-30 min. The rude female advised it was a 45- 60 min wait & the ap is wrong.I don't like being lied to but even less, an attitude. I took the advice of the seater and ordered what they referred to as the city grits. City grits adds Gouda to the grits....Yummy! My kid ordered the kids chocolate chip pancakes it came with egg and sausage patty. She loved the pancakes and eggs. But did not like the sausage. I tried a piece it wasn't to my liking. The food was amazing ! We went around 11am and it was a nice crowd. They have a bar , inside seating and outdoor seating ! We sat outside which was closed in and heated . My husband had the crab cake Benedict and I had an Omlet . We had roasted potatoes and some type of house made grits they were soooo good .! This was definitely an experience. The waiter was great very knowledgeable about the menu. The bananas Foster's pancake was absolutely amazing I would definitely order it again. It was not overly sweet it was just the right amount of sweetness and balance. The Mardi Gras omelette was OK. I could taste pieces of the shrimp as well as a little crawfish I would have liked to have added more sauce. The city grits were great as well who doesn't love bacon fat or bacon on anything it is definitely a must try. I Love the fact that I could make my reservations through the yelp app it kept me posted from the time I made my reservations up until it was time for me to check in and it is worth using instead of waiting in line or outside checking in through yelp helps a lot. read more

The atmosphere is wonderful and everyone is so nice and they all work together. Back in 2018 and 2019 when we were here food was so delicious. But now not so much. My grits tasted like they were instant and gross also our biscuits were undercooked and my omelette was bland tasting . Our waitress was really nice and sweet and we did get checked on from everybody else and they were all so nice and sweet. I do recommend this place but just be careful what you order. read more

The city grits are always the best. Would not frequent the one on Poplar and Highland.

This is one of my favorite places to have breakfast, however, Saturday was a very different experience and atmosphere. We waited over an hour for our food to come out. After gettin my food I was told it would take just as long to get pancakes so I didn't get any. There was this extremely loud bikers group there..not only were they loud but they were standing up eating and blocking the isles it was very ghetto and no one said a thing to them. In my recent trip to Memphis (I'm native to the Washington DC area) I learned a lot of things: 1. Memphis has a lot of places that are open just for breakfast and brunch- we need more of this in my neck of the woods! 2. Fried green tomatoes can be eaten with just about anything- again why is my hometown not hip to this?! My friends and I came here for brunch after scoping out the perfect place on yelp. We noticed we were able to do call ahead seating via the yelp app and took advantage of it! Instead of waiting for an hour, we were seated in less than 15 minutes. I highly recommend getting on the list because they get busy quick! I got a Bloody Mary to start because what's brunch without a Bloody Mary? It came dressed with pickled okra, pickled carrot, and a huge piece of peppered bacon. The taste was out of this world, easily one of the best Bloody Mary's I've ever had! For my entree I got the Mardi Gras omelette per the waiters suggestion. It was an omelette stuffed with crawfish, andouille sausage, shrimp and topped with a tomato hollandaise. So much flavor packed into one dish! It was as if I was enjoying breakfast on the bayou. It came with a side of city grits. I'm not sure what city the grits came from but dang I need some in my city! Went in today 22 of July and got another prodigy of the " no child left behind era." The waitress cal Zacurra , probably misspelled, was TERRIBLE!!! Had no reason being given a job to be a server. She made the restaurants service level drop to nothing. I visited 1 weeks ago and had a great experience. She probably will do better cleaning animal cages at the zoo.... And second, if you had a reservation made the party that did not make a reservation online gets bumped down every time a party makes a reservation online which increases your wait time. Take my review with a grain of salt. I recognize that I have high expectations for eating breakfast out. So far our best experience has been at Stax. I'll say that the portions at broken egg are larger and this is in the context of eggs/omelettes. The best aspect was the staff. From greeting to bill was excellent, friendly and efficient. The complimentarily beignets for new guests was a nice touch. Overall the food was OK not great and far from bad. The largest disappointment was the time between ordering and the food coming. This was at ~ 9a.m. Sunday so the demand and on the kitchen wasn't excessive. If you are OK socializing and have time to burn this is a good thing. If you are hungry and want your good fast this may not be there best choice. But this was our first try so it could have been a fluke. read more
