The restaurant on Poplar-Highland was clean, and practiced safety measures (I.e. masks required). I ordered the crab cakes eggs Benedict's. They were good overall (even with the poached egg). It needed a bit of salt and pepper because the eggs made it sort of bland and tasting like it needed the seasoning, but overall the crab cakes had a light flavor. I haven't been to this location in about a year or so, it's not the same as it was. When you walk up, the patio is dirty and unkempt. I remember in the past the restaurant was bustling and food was smelling good. Not now. It felt more like a pricey Waffle House. I ordered the pancakes and ham. Me and my husband went to eat here today and got seated, after 10 minutes our server came brought us our tea, which she never came to refill . We ordered our food which was Bourbon Street pancakes and French Toast. We waited, waited and waited. There were other people seated around us after 40 min there were 11 tables waiting on food on our side. Some that got there after we were seated got their food before us. Our waitress didnt even come to check on us. After 45 minutes they said our order is comming up. No one was bringing out food. We were seated where we could see in the kitchen and when the door opened you could see food lined up on the warmer counter. We finally got our food 50 min mark. When we got it our eggs they were cold dried out and the pancakes were cold and not done, gooey inside. The best thing was the cold French toast. Me and my husband shared it. I did not understand why the manager was not greeting people, she was walking around and on he tablet just looking at everyone counting tables that had not been served. I know they were busy but if they are that busy they need better service and food.The table next to us, their food was cold too. It also has outdoor seating. We were seated immediately which was nice. No long line (it was a Wednesday). However, after being seated and told that Rasheeda would be our server, it was at least 10 minutes before we saw Rasheeda. When she finally appeared to take our order, I ordered the Mardi Gras omelette with potatoes and a 1/2 order of the beignets. My husband ordered the Rum cake French Toast. It took a while for our order to come but it was absolutely worth the wait. I had one request while eating but Rasheeda was nowhere to be found so I asked another server, who promptly helped us. Decided to try this place after running an errand and I glad that I did. You can tell how clean the place is when you walk in through the door. My friend and I was quickly seated and our waitress Alicia serve us. Alicia was nice and friendly. Alicia got our orders and it was ready in a flash. I had the Cookie Dough Waffle with scramble eggs, bacon, and orange juice. My friend had the regular Belgium waffle with sausage, scramble eggs and sweet tea. We ordered two waters and I ordered a mimosa, it took almost 20 minutes to get the mimosa, and we saw the drink sitting at the bar waiting for the waiter. The drink tasted ok, when we finally got it. We got done eating, (they were closing at this point) and I asked for our waiter, he took my husbands card and stood in the lobby and talked to a man standing in the lobby while we waited for him to cash out our ticket. We stayed the night in Memphis on our way to Nashville and chose Another Broken Yolk Cafe for breakfast. Our visit didn't start well. Upon entering, there were 3 employees behind the check in counter but none of the 3 acknowledged us. So, after a couple minutes, I walked to the bar and got someone's attention. She found a hostess to seat us. We ordered coffee and our breakfast and were pleasantly surprised by a complimentary order of biscuit beignets! They were a very good starter with our first cup of coffee. I ordered a Seasonal Special - Boston Cream Pancakes which were served with eggs and house made sausage patties. I decided to come here only because it was in walking distant from where I was staying. Came here on Sunday, only waited like 10 minutes with out reservations for a party of two. They took us back to our table and it was like our server forgot about us. Took over 30 minutes for her to get to us and greet us. (I previously was a server and I know how crazy Sundays can get) so we were patient about it but I know any other person would have Atleast complained or left. But once she got to us everything was great. They have such a great variety on their menu. The cinnamon French toast was amazing. Chicken biscuit was amazing. This is a chain that I really wanted to like. The primary problem? Extraordinary amounts of time waiting. And waiting. We hopped online to get our name on the wait list since it was a crazy weekend day. Clearly, everyone wants breakfast at the same time at all of the breakfast/brunch places across Memphis. Like...everyone. So we checked in with the semi-friendly hostess and we waited a REALLY long time for a table. There were 5 of us; 3 adults and 2 kids...and the kids started getting pretty restless. There aren't many places to sit and wait....so the front gets pretty cluster-ey (especially as soon as that party of 12 shows up and there's literally nowhere to move.......) Once we finally got to a table, we were able to get orders in fairly quickly...but this ain't no NYC Greek diner. The food took days to arrive. (I exaggerate sometimes). But this whole thing was a serious time commitment. Thankfully I was with family that I enjoy being with...so that made the loss of my morning worthwhile. The food was OK; nothing special. Our server was really nice and was running around like crazy...but the kitchen made some mistakes and one of our meals was missing for the first 10-ish minutes after 4 of the 5 orders came out.
