ANOTHER WASTED EGG! My Mother and I drove from Eads, TN to dine here. Staff was nice. Business needs a refresh. Dark colors that are outdated and shabby decor kill the ambiance. Beignets took 20 minutes at open. Restaurant not busy. Ordered my crab cake Benedict with specific that it be hot. Was lukewarm and andouille infused hollandaise was basically sausage cut up in a bland sauce. Could not eat it. My Mother had a sausage Pattie that looked like it was hand made. I tasted it and spit it out. She tried to finish it and was sick the rest of the day. Her eggs seemed to be liquid and not shell scrambled eggs. Waste of time and money. The restaurant on Poplar-Highland was clean, and practiced safety measures (I.e. masks required). I ordered the crab cakes eggs Benedict's. They were good overall (even with the poached egg). It needed a bit of salt and pepper because the eggs made it sort of bland and tasting like it needed the seasoning, but overall the crab cakes had a light flavor. I haven't been to this location in about a year or so, it's not the same as it was. When you walk up, the patio is dirty and unkempt. I remember in the past the restaurant was bustling and food was smelling good. Not now. It felt more like a pricey Waffle House. I ordered the pancakes and ham. This is an overpriced Waffle House, there was some hair in the food and in my drink. The omelet was overcooked, the pancakes had a piece of hair in them, the peaches on the pancakes tasted like they were cooked on the same pan as the meat, so they tasted like meat. When she finally appeared to take our order, I ordered the Mardi Gras omelette with potatoes and a 1/2 order of the beignets. My husband ordered the Rum cake French Toast. We were seated where we could see in the kitchen and when the door opened you could see food lined up on the warmer counter. We finally got our food 50 min mark. When we got it our eggs they were cold dried out and the pancakes were cold and not done, gooey inside. The best thing was the cold French toast. Me and my husband shared it. I did not understand why the manager was not greeting people, she was walking around and on he tablet just looking at everyone counting tables that had not been served. I know they were busy but if they are that busy they need better service and food.The table next to us, their food was cold too. I get there of course it's a long wait but my name was on the waitlist and I was fine with that. My waitress was a Hispanic lady who I think potentially had a language barrier a little. Her service was slow and it took 32 minutes to get a pitcher of mimosa. We waited.. we waited... we waited. Our food finally comes after being at the establishment 2 hours. It's cold. The cinnamon toast was crunchy and hard. I particularly asked for no fruit & no whip cream. I still got all of that on my dish. The grits were not as flavorful as they should have been and seems as if they didn't cook the grits all the way through. It was a thorough disappointment not intending to visit again. We stayed the night in Memphis on our way to Nashville and chose Another Broken Yolk Cafe for breakfast. Our visit didn't start well. Upon entering, there were 3 employees behind the check in counter but none of the 3 acknowledged us. So, after a couple minutes, I walked to the bar and got someone's attention. She found a hostess to seat us. We ordered coffee and our breakfast and were pleasantly surprised by a complimentary order of biscuit beignets! They were a very good starter with our first cup of coffee. I ordered a Seasonal Special - Boston Cream Pancakes which were served with eggs and house made sausage patties. Overall, a very good experience. Destiny (and trainee Chris) gave great service and were very attentive. Would definitely recommend and return if we were in the area. read more
