Went to ABEC in Lafayette for the first time yesterday (8/3/2019). Had the best experience. They accommodated my party of 20 with no issues. Servers were very nice, food came out really quickly and drinks were amazing. The waitlist is such a great feature and I HIGHLY recommend using it. Truly enjoyed celebrating my birthday there. The menu is so fun here! I love how they have so many different omelette options. The crawfish and shrimp omelette is my absolute favorite! It is so "Louisiana". I got "The Works" omelette, and appreciated that it wasn't full of grease or cheese. They have healthier options, including oatmeal and fresh fruit with yogurt. We were surprised that their beignets tasted so good with the honey marmalade dipping sauce. Love this place! It's in walking distance from where I live, so I go frequently. I've tried quite a few different things, never had a single thing I didn't love. Food is fresh, and relatively inexpensive. Each time, the service was very nice and helpful (easier said than done at a place that opens so early) Highly recommend the B.L.A.S.T sandwich (bacon lettuce avocado smoked Gouda and tomato) it's my current favorite. I can't even explain how wonderful our breakfast was at Another Broken Egg!! I wish we had one back home in Jacksonville, NC!! I had an omelet with cream cheese and bacon inside, and chorizo, green onions, and cheese on top; country potatoes; English muffin; and a coffee. The omelet was delectable!! I've never had an omelet with cream cheese inside but I will definitely have to have it again. My husband had biscuits and gravy, country potatoes, cheesy eggs, and sausage patties. I tried his food and let me just say I'm from the south and this is the best biscuits and gravy I've ever had! I think the gravy is made even better by the wonderfully flavorful sausage that's unlike no other sausage I've ever had. I moved out of Louisiana in November of 2010 and this is one of the few breakfast places in Lafayette that I miss. Everything I have had there has been fantastic...I'm a huge fan of their classic biscuits and gravy. It's just a little pricey, but for the area that it's in, it's expected. My friends and I decided have lunch last week Sept 1st. Our party arrived around 11:20 and got on the waiting list. We sat down shortly after and ordered our food around 11:40. We drank coffee and enjoyed the atmosphere. Our waitress appeared from time to time to top off our water and coffee. Around 12:20 we noticed two tables that were seated after us received their tickets which meant they had eaten. We then asked our waitress what was going on. She never made eye contact with us or even stopped walking as we spoke to her. We were not rude and our body language was calm. That was just unprofessional. About 10mins later our food arrived. 1. It was cool to the touch and 2. The orders weren't correct. We asked to speak to a manager. She was not polite and did not make us feel heard or seen. She told us that our food should be hot as it just came our of the kitchen. Not once did she or the waitress (who disappeared) apologized for the lack of timeliness or quality. Her only solution was to make our meals again. By this time it was 12:45 and I had to leave for a beauty appt and did not get lunch that day. If I could do a negative rating I would as this is not the service that I would ever expect to receive. read more

You need to stop reading Yelp passed this review, get up, get dressed, and go get some shrimp and grits from this place. Their coffee is their own, and its smooth and has earthy notes. They bring you plenty of creamer of the hazelnut and french vanilla variety. The food is served hot, not warm, and the seasoning and flavors are outstanding. The wait staff is excellent and super friendly in comparison to other major restaurants. My so called 30-45 minute potential wait time turned into over an hour. I ordered hot chocolate that came in a cup close to the size of a shot glass for over $3 and an apple juice you can buy in the store for $1.50 and was charged $4 for that. We ordered a French toast meal and each added a biscuit to our meal. That was THE best thing of the morning--the fresh hot biscuit. Will I ever go back to this place? Not even if my grand total for 2 people was .50. I felt like my ear drums were grossly abused and that I probably have slight hearing damage now. Most of the people who eat here are the local stuck ups who would rather swallow glass than crack a half smile. Pitiful experience. I had the crab stack which was a grit cake with a crab cake topped with amazing seafood sauce and garlic bread. It was soooo good!! My husband had the Mardi Gras omelet with shrimp and crawfish and he raved about it. The coffee was excellent. My little one got a plain pancake but it was nothing spectacular. We ate outside and it was very nice. It's located in a high end shopping promenade and right next to a fountain. It was a little pricey for brunch ($40 plus tip) for 3 of us including 3 meals plus drinks but it was definitely worth it. The food was not your ordinary. It will definitely be a favorite of ours from now on. The waitlist feature is definitely recommended due to the typical 45min-1 hour on the weekend. Whenever you leave you house but yourself on the waitlist and save 20-30 mins of wait time and you can use the remainder of the time to get a jumpstart on the mimosas. I told them the food is excellent and talked well about the place. And a table for three on a Saturday for lunch was an hour and a half wait for outside. Wait times that are given are really iffy here so I decided to put my name down. When I told my parents the time they decided not to stay. I took my name off the wait just as they texted our table is ready. Why would you give a wait time of that long and then text ten minutes later that the table is ready.
