However today we were back in the area and it was sadly not the taste of home at all the Bloody Molly took over 30 mins to make because the bartender decided that LUNCH RUSH is the best time to teach our server how to make a drink! Almost all the negative reviews that I've seen for this place relate to the wait. So I'll just go ahead and get that part of it the way. There was a wait. However, it was well worth it! They let us know immediately upon being seated that they were a bit short staffed, which accounted for the empty tables that we had seen previously. This is applicable to everyone these days and it ended up being just fine. We all ordered something different - chocolate chip pancakes, french toast, chicken and waffles, blackstone benedict, lobster omelette, mimosas - and everything was wonderful! The food was good but we waited an hour from the time we placed our order. There was a problem with the printer in the kitchen and or order was not printed. Our server did not let us know about the glitch until we inquired. The manager came out and apologized. These things happen; we understand. However we did expect a discount on our tickets, and none was forthcoming. We were discussing this with our server as we were paying the tickets, and the manager came out in time to hear us say that we really had expected a discount. She replied that it had been her intention to give us a discount but that she had been dealing with other tickets and did not get to ours in time. They had not runs our credit cards. she did not offer to redo the tickets. "Sorry, I meant to," doesn't cut it in customer service. read more

My wife and I came here on Monday. The waiter was a older white male pretty nice not the best service but i still tipped well. The food was cold, shrimp and grits was watery. When the food came he said how is it. He's staring at watery grits and didn't say a word. I asked for silverware and finally walked to the bar snd asked for some togo silverware. My wife and I have been to both locations here in Flowood and in Ridgeland several times. Food has always been good and a relatively good price point for the quality and quantity of food. The only issue I have is the long wait. Several times, we have gone to another restaurant here locally because of the long wait times. I've been to ABE at the Renaissance several times. Having to always wait on a table, it is nice to see a second location open. The décor is different, but pleasant, and the service is always top notch. However, for breakfast considering the price and wait, I expect more. The lemon blueberry goat cheese pancake is not "filled" but instead just a simple pancake with a nice topping. My complaint is with the pancake itself. It is small, not fluffy, in fact a little tough. The veggie omelette is nice, but appears rather flat. It needs more ingredients and/or more egg. I've seem much more impressive omelets. My friend got the mardi gras omelette that was full of crawfish, shrimp and other ingredients. But when he added jalapenos for a $1, it appears he got 2 slices (about half an inch) of pepper chopped up on top. Also the second cup of coffee was burnt tasting. read more

This is a must visit restaurant if you are in this area! Nice ambiance, good food, solid service, except one minor detail but can be fixed with some constructive feedback. But I'll talk about that later on in the review. So, back to this amazing restaurant. The menu is laid out well, especially with it's color coding, small detail but helps to differentiate things. There are so many choses it's hard to choose, from the chicken and waffles to the omelets. We let's examine what I experienced. First, the shrimp and grits! They were AMAZING, and they gave a very good portion. If you love cajun style rue, than this is definitely for you. The creamy and cajun rue is filled with deliciously seared shrimp, diced tomatoes, diced grilled onions, andouille sausage. All those ingredients are the background to the creamy and delightful grits. Standing Ovation for this meal! Now, the cinnamon french toast, is O so good. This meal could breakfast, brunch or dessert. It was soft and delicious with the caramel and cream sauce draped over the top with fresh strawberries, blueberries & blackberries. All of this coupled with a side of scrambled eggs with colby jack cheese and chicken apple sausage. Now I wanted the crabcake & fried green tomatoes, but i just got the fried green tomatoes. They fried them tomatoes so crispy and golden, with the cajun dipping sauce which turn it up a WHOLE notch. Then I added the strawberry mimosa to meal, OMG! Just RIDICULOUS! All in all, this is a must visit restaurant OVER and OVER. Now our waiter, was extremely thoughtful, pleasant and confident (confidence could be mistaken for cocky, but i get it). However, he didn't write down our order, which could be a recipe for disaster with the wrong customers. In this case he must've miscommunicated his message to the cook because I got pork bacon, in which I do not eat pork. And he forgot the cheese for the eggs. So, I have been here twice, and twice I was disappointed. Takeaways: Our server was very attentive and helpful. The food was ok. Not remarkable, but ok. The host person at the front was rude. She didn't speak directly to me, and as we walked outside to the seating, she let the door go without waiting for us. Her attitude conveyed that she didn't care too much about the customers. I can't say enough about this place. The food is amazing and is well worth the wait. I took my mother and aunt from out of town last weekend and the wait for food was ridiculously long. It's never been this long before. I think they're short on staff of have new staff that needs to learn the ropes. But the cinnamon roll French toast is my fav. Very generous portions make it easy to save for later. I tried the apple fritter pancakes and they were a hit. Our waiter wasn't as attentive as the other staff we've had in the past. He didn't come back periodically to check on us and we had to ask for our ticket. I think that's one of the hold ups for others waiting to be seated because we were ready at least 20-30 minutes before we received our check. Don't think we will ever be coming back to this location. The food was good, but our server was horrible. There was another table that came in after us that she served before us and kept checking on them. She even walked by our table and didn't even acknowledge us, yet she went to the other tables frequently. We didn't get our order as we ordered it, we had to tell another server about the items missing on the order. We got the rest of our food AFTER we were done eating. I easily placed a to-go order online, very nice online site. The food was good, to be expected a little cold from a to-go order. I was not pleased with the service. When I arrived there were two hostesses. I gave them my to-go order name. There was a booth table with 4 bagged orders. The hostess waived at the table and said "it's over there" , so I went to the booth, found my ticketed bag and walked out". This place is just amazing! The seasonal selections are fantastic, and everything I've ever ordered here has been just absolutely delicious and with such a beautiful presentation. I've never had bad service here, but keep in mind ***this place is usually VERY busy- for GOOD reason:)*** so it's very understood that you will wait a while to be seated if you don't make reservations through Yelp ahead of time!!!
