Service and food were great! The restaurant itself is a bit out of date, but that was not an issue as these diners typically like to maintain their original ambience. You are able to see the planes take off from the window booths or outside seating. There are heaters outside. It gets busy around 9 am, so it's best to get there early when they open or later in the afternoon before they close. If you have little ones, you may need to change them in the car as there are no changing stations in the restrooms. read more

The food is great here, we've been here twice but the most recent time we went we were told our wait would be 20 min but ending up waiting 40 min. We also waited for our food for roughly 30 min. However despite all that, the food is good, portions are huge, and service is good. They also fill your coffee religiously which is nice. Def worth it for the price imo but if you decide to come, highly recommend coming here earlier as the wait can be long. We came here around 11am. The interior is nice, it has 1950 oldies vibes. First visit to Annia's Kitchen, have heard great things about the food here. Hubby says Annia's is known for their breakfasts. Portions are generous. His favorite is Pork Chop and Eggs. However, he failed to mention that the Mexican specialties his co-workers have ordered were not always that good. Hence my mistake ordering the Steak Picado. Hubby ordered pork chop and eggs. 2 generous sized pork chops, 2 eggs, hash browns and sourdough toast. The pork chops were nicely seasoned and not overcooked. The eggs were cooked to perfection. The only thing that I would have changed is to ask for hash browns on the crisp side. I ordered the Steak Picado and Eggs. Unfortunately, the steak was on the tough side and quite chewy even when cut into small bites. The flavor was good, however it was more peppers and onions then steak. Eggs were cooked to perfection. Entree is served with rice, beans and your choice of tortillas. (flour or corn) Service was a bit slow...not sure if that was because we were dining outside. But... we got to watch a couple planes take off which was a nice change of scenery. Overall, even though I only gave them an 3 star rating, I would be willing to come back and give them a second chance. read more

Used to love coming here on wknds but last couple of times we went wait for tables has been very very long and wait for food was even longer. We barely saw our server after ordering. Finally had to get up to go to the counter to ask for the bill. Coming here for breakfast is almost taking 3 hours. It's really not worth it. This is such a great local gem. We take our toddler son at least once a month. Weekend service can be a bit slow with the crowds, so that's why we usually come first thing. We don't mind, though, as we are usually sat outside on the patio to watch the planes take off and land. Food is always flavorful, satisfying and well priced. There are quite a number of dishes on the menu and I have tried to order a different dish just to see how consistent the flavor of the food is. They're food is definitely much better than chain restaurants. Their food is also worth the time it takes to prepare. Most of their portions are on the generous side.Most of time, I am taking food home since it was good, but it was too much for me to finish. They have a few specials that are not on the menu that I have ordered and honestly, I have not ordered any dish yet that I didn't really like. Their breakfasts are great, so many different combinations, the Mexican dishes are solid, approved by my Mom! Also the staff do a great job, they are helpful and efficient. My family has lived in El Monte 41 years and never knew about this restaurant. we recently started going past 2 years and OMG A lot to choose from on the menu and everything we have tried so far is so delicious but definitely the hamburger is our favorite . It's not my favorite local diner but I love taking my kids to see the airplanes land and takeoff from the runway. The food is very basic/mediocre, not to saying it's bad, but again nothing special. I've had their American breakfast and Mexican breakfast, and to be honest, I think the Mexican breakfast is better. I recommend the chorizo plate and the breakfast burrito. Got seated and was told as we sat down and then again 3 times, each time the hostess came gin our table, that our waiter *is* coming to take our order. 15mins later he finally showed up and apologized for mixup on table service. Ugh. I'm so hangry.... now let's see how long it will take for the food to come out - not having high hopes at this point. Don't even know who our guy waiter is, he didn't introduce himself. Update: So... another 25mins for the food to show up. Apparently they got slammed big time on this Sunday. Still more than an hour after we arrived to eat, ugh. The food was good, usual café fares. As things slowed down and people started leaving, then the waiters kept asking us every single time they walk by our table "is everything okay?" The first couple times, I answered yes. On the 3rd and then 10th time, while I'm trying to eat, I got tired of being interrupted and being asked over and over "is everything okay?" Trying to make for the wait and neglect earlier, I guess. So me and my bf planned to go too the Los Angeles County Arboretum and we had a service dog they still refused us. Anyways that was not what I was about to say, since we didn't get in we decided to go here for breakfast and I'm so glad we did. First off we got too see airplane landing and take off ( Yes I'm a nerd I love airplanes ). Second the staff is super friendly they really made us feel welcoming and like a family even though they was full house and busy non stop. Also at the door they have a really cute sign where it's says something with "Everyone is welcome even thought you are vaccinated or not, transgender etc etc" ( I wish I took a picture of it but I forgot ) anyhow I think this place is family own business as well but it's small. So I definitely recommend you guys to go and support them. On top of it big portions so cheap and really flavorful food me and my bf complained that was a lot of food haha. Annia's Kitchen is located in the San Gabriel Valley Airport, formerly known as the El Monte Airport. If you are driving down Santa Anita to get to Annia's, don't drive too fast since the airport entrance is easy to miss. Out of the four or five times that I've been to Annia's, there was never any wait to get seated. Granted, I don't think I've ever tried to go to Annia's during busy brunch times on the weekends. You get to choose where your seats at Annia's, and if it's your first time, choose the outside patio to give you the best view of small private airplanes taking off and landing at the San Gabriel Valley Airport. The view is also okay in the interior dining room, but it doesn't beat the view from the patio. Annia's serves American and Mexican dishes. The food is just okay at Annia's; the selection is pretty much what you'd expect from local diner-type restaurant for brunch. Prices, though, are definitely cheaper at Annia's and the portion sizes are bigger! My favorite items at Annia's are probably the Chili Relleno with refried beans and rice or the Taco Salad. Both dishes offer a pretty good amount of food for less than $10. Check out Annia's if you have family or friends from out of town. Every time we come it's always great. I normally come with my family very often. Ever serve we have had has been great. Everyone treats us like family. Food is always great! Coffee is fresh. Servers are attentive. Best to come early since they get busy really quickly. I came with my friend who asked for Chilaquiles which wasn't on the menu but they still did it for her. We normally have the young male server who's always great or the female. They are all very nice to all of us. I normally get the hot link which is not on the menu but again they still do it. The service was border line bad... when we first arrived there was 2 women standing right in the middle of the door chatting that would not get out of the way... till I was tired of waiting on them and was about to squeeze my way through then she asks me for how many... But that's about as good as it gets and the view is probably the only thing saving this place... I ordered ice water (20-25 min wait), steak and avocado omelette (it was dry/overcooked), ribeye steak and eggs medium rare (45-50 min wait). Now their steak is def a winner, so I ordered medium rare, was expecting a some pink maybe a hint of red... not this one... ours was brown lol... I kid you not... that was def one of the hardest ribeye I had to cut through... it's up there... first bite it was sour also... so in my mind I'm thinking, the flavor + that color... how old is this meat? I flagged a waiter down and asked if their steak suppose to taste sour? She looked at the steak then replies "yeah, we marinate it with lime... it's good" lol... Cute little brunch restaurant to come and eat with a view of the planes taking off! I've heard many people like to come here, not for the food, but for the ambiance. The food is actually just okay (I might not be the best at judging brunch foods, though). We ordered enchiladas, BLT, and a pancake & omelette combo. I liked the BLT - it was simple bacon lettuce and tomato with fries - which were good! Enchiladas were also pretty good. But the main thing about this little restaurant is that it's located in the El Monte Airport. You can see the private planes take off about every 20-30 min. It's not too loud or noisy, which is good. It's more of a relaxing type of view. I came here only once but I know of people who frequent this place just for a quaint place to chit chat and have brunch! I liked watching the planes take off! This place gets my vote only because its a unique environment for dining. The food is ok. I got the shredded beef tacos dorados and I thought the meat was bland and they didnt put enought meat. The beans and rice also lacked flavor. My boyfriend got the veggie burger and onion rings, he said it ok, also. I tried the onion rings and I don't know how you can make an onion ring bland but it was. Their indoor seating is well organized and spacious as well as their outdoor patio with an excellent view of the runway. Staff were nice, attentive, competent and professional. We came here for brunch and ordered a Spanish omelette with baked potatoes and two stack pancakes. And coffee as well. Pancakes were fluffy and soft; butter, syrup and coffee were just okay but it can be better. Service is moderately fast. Prices are fair and competitive. Ample of parking space. I came on a Monday with my mom and sister. Amongst the three of us, we shared two plates - 1. French Toast, Sausage, Bacon, and Eggs and 2. Pancakes, Sausage, Bacon, Eggs. It was enough food for us to share comfortably. The sausage, bacon, eggs, and pancakes are what you would typically expect at a breakfast spot. I wouldn't get the french toast again, the dish looked so sad as I was expecting it to be sweeter and more hearty. The wait for our food was long, we waited around 30 minutes for our food to come out. Service was pretty much non-existent. However, after reading other people's reviews, it seems that my experience with the wait and service is an outlier. read more
