There's one thing that is steady.- how delicious the food is. This is a south Indian restaurant and for those in the no South Indian food really focuses on fantastic breakfast food. The dosa here is exceptional. If you bring a large group of people, it's definitely a novelty and worth it to buy the family sized dosa. This is a 4 foot long dose and it takes up an entire table! The chicken tikka masala and butter chicken are fantastic as well. The rave dosa is amazing. Now getting to the highlight - the vijaywada chicken biryani. The most delicious biryani around! The service is always top-notch. Everyone is always friendly. They take reservations so that's always good. The one thing I will warn you is that on Friday and Saturday nights, due to the location, Colorado Boulevard, it gets packed in here. We were on our way to Oh La La for dinner and it was just too busy to want to wait, so we quickly pivoted to next door. We love Indian food and always want to check out new places ( new to us). Well we're happy we did! We enjoy such a fresh meal. Balanced spices, aromatic, and just delicious. My partner and I enjoyed the veggie samosas, which did not disappoint. We shared the butter chicken, which was so creamy, with a sweet and savory combination, really enjoyed it. The special treat was the mango lassi, which didn't make it very long, the perfect drink for some much expected spices. Overall Experience We have visited this restaurant multiple times over the years and always enjoyed our meals. However, our recent visits have been noticeably different and not in a good way. The overall quality and experience have declined significantly. Service The service has become slower and less attentive. What used to feel warm and efficient now feels rushed and careless. Food Quality Dosa Experience * We ordered the Paper Masala Dosa, which they proudly claim is "as thin as paper." Unfortunately, what we received was the opposite -- it was quite thick and nowhere close to the crisp, paper-thin texture expected. * At this point, a simple Sada Dosa would have been a much better choice. Chutney Issues * Earlier, their Tomato Chutney tasted like a balanced blend of tomato, chilli, and garlic. * Now, it just tastes like chilli and red colouring, with hardly any hint of tomato. Cleanliness Concern * The most disappointing part was finding hair in the dosa, which raises serious concerns about hygiene. All these issues seem to have started after the change in management. The consistency, flavours, and overall quality that once made the place reliable are no longer the same. This used to be one of our favourite spots, but the recent decline in food quality, service, and hygiene has been very disappointing. Oh my - we finally found an Indian Restaurant that is authentic and makes Dosa. You know the food is going to be authentic and delicious when you walk in and see all the patrons are from India. Some times the best food comes in restaurants that are not glitzy. The service is excellent. Our server is Tamay - a nice young man who was very helpful. I've been here twice now and enjoyed it both times. The first time I tried the boneless chicken biryani which came in a huge bowl for $20. Even with two people sharing this dish we couldn't finish it. The rice came with a side of raita and some peanut based sauce. I didn't care for the peanut sauce but the raita paired well with the chicken, which was flavored well. It also came with a lemon wedge. Other people in my group ordered dosas which they all loved. Couple months back in October, some of my co-workers and I dined at Annapurna Grill in Pasadena in celebration of our dear friend's birthday. This was my first time here... all others have eaten here before. I like Indian foods as long as the spice level is manageable medium to low. I just allowed everyone else to order as they know what is best. Below were our lunch spread. 1. Andhra Chicken Curry - too spicy for me, but got a piece of chicken to taste... it was very good 2. Butter Chicken Curry - just the right amount of spice for me... love the chicken flavor... just perfect! 3. Chicken Dum Biryani - this was also too spicy for me... didn't attempt it much if at all 4. Boneless Chicken Biryani - this one was better for me or I may have gotten it mixed up with the other chicken biryani... just know I ate one of them LOL 5. Plain Dosa - I didn't eat this one so I don't know how it tastes, but it's a crepe served with various sauces and it looks good 6. One more item (I don't know the name of it... maybe you know by the picture... look for the round dumplings... let me know what you come up with... thanks!) 7. Mango Lassi - I really liked this drink... I order it every time when I eat at an Indian restaurant. Thanks for having it! Overall, we had a wonderful meal. The staff was friendly. The only down side was the wait time... I felt like we waited at least 30 mins after ordering to get our first dish (hence, knocked off 1 star). They weren't very busy at the time so I didn't understand why it took so long. Prices were reasonable. Atmosphere was pleasant. Location is within walking distance from work which is great. I think it's the general sentiment that this is the best place for Indian food in Pasadena, although there aren't many places for this, so take that with a grain of salt. Most recently, I came with two friends on a Friday night and we were seated right away. I've never had to wait for seating anytime I've come. I think take out is a more popular option here, to be honest. We were in the mood for dosas, so we all ordered different ones. I got the Mysore Masala Dosa, and my friends got the Andhra Spicy Masala Dosa and the Masala Dosa. They took over 20 minutes to prepare our orders, which is a bit longer than I would have liked but we did all order different styles of dosa. I really enjoyed the Mysore Masala Dosa. All dosa dishes also come with potatoes, sambar and chutney. The masala was well spiced and the sides complemented the masala well. The only thing that sucked was how long it took to get our food and waters. They only gave us water half-way through eating our food. read more

Here on a Saturday evening and it's crowded. Food is good but service is certainly lacking. We waited 15 min to get our order taken. It's be almost 50 minutes and we're still waiting on one of the dosa orders. Our experience here has been mixed. There have been times we have absolutely enjoyed the food but today is not that day. I really love the food at Annapurna. I've mostly come during lunch when they are serving a lunch buffet and am constantly amazed by the variety of the curries and daals offered on a rotating basis. Whereas I feel like Indian buffets are always the same combination at other places, where you never get anything more interesting than a chicken tikka masala, Annapurna really makes an effort. They have biryanis at lunch, different desserts each time, different veg. I cannot stress the variety enough! Annapurna is the restaurant that introduced me to such delicacies as egg curry, and chili chicken which is addictively good! They won't make things like dosas at lunch though, but I understand. Used to order here all the time on delivery apps and always thought it was delicious! Came here in person the other day and had a completely disappointing experience. We got sat pretty quickly, but it was chaotic trying to get the hostess' attention since he kept running around. It was equally hard to get his attention afterwards. It took at least 15 minutes to get enough water for the table, and at some points it seemed like they were reusing water containers from other tables that have left. After that, we ordered and waited almost 2 hours for the food to come out. We saw some other tables get the same appetizers we got well before we got ours. When we did get our food, it came sporadically despite the waiter saying "it was taking longer so all the food can come at the same time". The dosa itself tasted good w the sauces, but there was barely any filling in it - which was extremely disappointing given how long we waited for it. Paneer Butter Masala - I always get this dish and it was as good as ever. Decent portion size and I took leftovers. But the experience made it hard to enjoy. read more
