On January 6, I went to Anna's Nails in Tempe, and this was without a doubt the most upsetting nail experience I have ever had. I originally went in asking for acrylic nails. While seated, I asked Michelle the nail tech who was going to be doing my nails what service would last 3-4 weeks because I needed something strong and durable. I was told that Gel X was very strong and was recommended to me, so I trusted their professional opinion. I've been getting my nails done since I was 16 years old. I know what quality work looks like, and I know when something is done wrong. These nails were completely unacceptable. I asked for short almond-shaped nails, red with sparkles. What I received was: * Uneven, sloppy shaping -- some nails look almond, others have straight, blunt edges * Nails that are completely flat, with no apex or structure at all * Bumpy, uneven surfaces * Nails that were not properly cured -- the tech repeatedly pulled my nails out early during curing Less than 48 hours later, my nails began peeling and lifting. I work an office job, I'm not rough with my hands. * Two nails are peeling * One nail is already coming off I paid $60 for this set and still tipped $10, totaling $70, for work that didn't even last two days. I was visiting family, and my cousin and I went to this salon together. This is not my local nail salon, and I live 40 minutes away, making it difficult to just "stop by" for fixes. Because I was so upset and disappointed, I called the salon. I asked to speak with the owner and was initially told the owner was not available. I calmly explained the entire situation and asked for either a refund or a full new set, preferably not Gel X, since it was clearly not done correctly and I've had much better results with acrylic in the past. I was told they do not give refunds, which I accepted. I then asked if I could come in for a full new set. I was told I could only come in to fix two nails, despite the entire set being poorly done. I explained again that I live 40 minutes away and was only in the area visiting family, so driving back just to fix two nails was not reasonable. I asked again for a full new set using a different service. She refused. After several minutes of going back and forth, I stated that I would be leaving a review and would not be returning. Instead of handling this professionally, she told me that people like me ruin her business, that she has family to feed and bills to pay. That comment crossed a line. I told her that I also have family and bills, and I paid for a service that was not done properly. She continued talking over me and accusing me of ruining her business. At one point, I asked if I could leave my number so the owner could contact me. Only then did she admit that she was the owner, after previously telling me she wasn't. We ended the call with me stating I would be leaving a review and wouldn't be returning. She later called me back. The same conversation happened all over again. I told her the only day I could come in was Monday, but she refused to guarantee that she would redo the full set. I made it clear I was not driving 40 minutes without that guarantee. She continued talking over me. At that point, I clearly stated that I would be leaving a review and would not be coming back, and I hung up. This entire experience was unprofessional, dismissive, and emotionally exhausting. The quality of the nails was bad, but the way I was spoken to as a paying customer was worse. I will never return to this salon, and I strongly encourage others to think twice before coming. read more

I used to go here to have my eye brows cleaned up but hadn't been here in a while because, I do them myself now!!! They do a great job with eye brows though! This establishment is nice, clean and the staff are all wonderful!!! I went here for a much needed relaxing pedicure and glad that I did! I went to this nail place with high expectations because I have gone before. I asked for a full set of SNS dip powder almond shapes. When the guy took me he pulled out acrylic powder, and when I pulled away and asked for SNS again he said this is how he does it, and proceeds to do a full set of acrylic on me. He did not measure or compare sizes, my nails are completely different lengths and sizes. They are also not almond, they are an oval with a blunt tip. He also made me bleed on several fingers and my fingers are now red all over. Other people getting manicures/full sets were getting lotion and massages, I didn't get anything. It was truly a bad experience and it cost $55 to get something I didn't ask for/wanted. Update My nails are bleeding more and the skin around my nails are cracking. I called and asked to speak to the owner and the guy refused and hung up on me. They won't answer my calls. I went back to the store to let the guy know / talk to the owner, and I got there and he immediately started yelling at me, trying to grab my hands and when I pulled away and said he is not allowed to touch me he got extremely offended. He also then called someone - after saying he was the owner - and tried handing me the phone. after I said I will not touch your property he put it on speaker and I explained what happened and she offered a partial refund. he started yelling at me more, trying to convince other customers to look at my nails and touch me. After 10 minutes he throws 30 dollars in my face and takes a picture of me and tells me to leave: I did not come in asking for a refund and I thought I was pretty nice about the whole situation as I have been to this place before. He kept yelling at customers about me and laughing at me - saying my skin is too sensitive and that I didn't bleed even though I showed him. I would not recommend this place at all, and I will be reporting this to the better business bureau. read more

I've been here multiple times and always have a good experience. Wait times can be moderately long if it's a busy day, but more often than not I walk in with no appointment and they can see me right away. Try to get one of the men to do your pedicures, they give much better massages! I took one star off because last time I went in I noticed a sign saying they "prefer" customers to pay cash so they don't have to pay credit card fees.. That always puts a sour taste in my mouth when companies are so cheap they don't want to pay for credit card fees. Either way, they still accept credit cards so it's not a huge deal. read more

I arrived before 5pm. Got out after closing. I was rotated three times. John, the technician guy butchered my nails. The colors are amazing but he didnt care to make them presentable and beautiful. He just cared to rush the job and get me out. These nails by far are not worth 45 dollars... I should have kept the previous nails a little longer and considered going back to the other nail technician. I could have made the far drive to get beautiful nails. He started talking bad about it in front of me. I understand body language and i was being honest to him... i didnt like my nails because they were uneven and lumpy. I got mad stares from the other technicians except one apologized. Here are the photos. Judge for yourselves. He was more upset I didnt tip. What did he expect a good tip for shitty service?! Ugh.... now I have to spend more money to remove them and redo them. I hate leaving bad reviews but this was a bad experience. He was rude and disrespectful. I've recently started going to this nail place off and on for almost a year now. My husband usually gets his hair cut next door and I would get my typical gel nails done. I don't have a place I'm loyal to, but I usually keep coming back here! First and foremost the reason for my 5 star is that they typically deliver what I ask, which is a simple gel nail manicure that is suppose to last 2 weeks. Other places that I've gone to no matter how nice and courteous they were or how much free water I got I always became disappointed when my gel nails would suddenly peel after 3-4 days!! With this particular place, they took good care of my hands and nails, cleaned it well and insured when placing the polish on my fingers that there was no chance of it peeling off. I've had my gel nails last for about 4 weeks before I realized I needed to get them done again! I'm a person who is simple and likes her nails short. I also do a lot with my hands, whether it's wash dishes or get my hands dirty planting or moving heavy items my nails always seem to stay in place and not peel! I understand customer service is always nice when you come into a place. I've never been treated poorly, yes they don't talk much, but as you come in more you start to build a relationship. Remember if you treat everyone with kindness you'll get some in return, I've been to a lot of nail places and seen people treat the technicians with less respect. The staff was very nice to me and accommodating to me coming in as a walk in thirty minutes to closing time, so that's why two stars instead of one but I am giving low stars primarily for the service quality and hygiene. The nail filer used on me was not new and after my finger cuticles were cut and fingers sitting in water, they emptied the cuticles into the cup where my fingers were so the dirty cuticles were sitting in the cup while my fingers soakedThe cuticle oil was placed at th end so cutting the cuticles was fairly dry so my cuticles bled. They were overly aggressive with cuticles on the sides so they did not come out even and my nailbeds a little sore. I do have difficult cuticles so I've seen the difference when skilled techs gently remove them. In addition my technician had a very heavy smoke smell which was offputting. I got a regular manicure $12 and then $5 for buffing. I had never been charged for single buffing if you do not get a color before at other establishments but I don't know it could just be different here. read more

If possible I would give 0 stars. This salon is terrible. Anna argues with me when we went in for a gel removal and new gel put on. I know she is the "expert" because she kept saying it to me. We needed to have our tips clipped back due to sports. Well my daughter's tech literally took her nail down to nothing. When it came time to polish Anna did mine like I've not seen. My turned out terrible. The ends have almost a ski slope effect at the end and in the light you can see my nail She did it so light. My daughter's nails have a color she says looks totally different than what she picked. And her nails have weird bubbles of a totally different color. We went back today to complain. Spoke to a man there. I showed him our nails and explained what happened. He said you come in and we fix. I said your gals aren't touching our nails. I would like a refund for my daughter's nails. I was polite enough to speak with him out front away from customers. Well he said "oh no. No refund" and walked in and closed the door on us. I have never been treated by a salon like this. I frequently go to Anna Nail for eyebrow waxing, pedicures and manicures. I stop in at least once a month. I really like them because they are nearby, affordable, and the people are really nice. They always do a good job and the place is really clean. This isn't a salon to write home about, but they do the job, do it well, and the prices are awesome. Terrible service. Appointments don't matter because we were there 5 minutes early and still had to wait 30 minutes before we were helped. The equipment they use to do the nails didn't seem sanitary. They were grabbing things from everywhere and nothing was organized. The guy who did my nails was very rough and cut my cuticles to where they bled. I have been going to Anna Nails since it was CD nails about 11.5 years. Anna or her husband John usually do my fills and I always make an appointment. I never wait more than 5 to 10 minutes for them to finish up the previous customer. Most of the time I never wait at all. I also get my pedicure at Anna's and never request anyone , so I have had almost everyone do my pedicures over the years. I always get a design on my big toes and they do an excellent job .I usually let them choose which design they want to do. They have long time nail techs working here ,so that says something about the work environment Anna and John's daughter also works here. I love my nails and I always get compliments from strangers and friends on where do I get my nails done .I always refer them to Anna's. Over the years I have seen customers come in and want hurry up service ( example too many services for little time ) and Anna bends over backwards to get them in and out quick even though they need to take more time. I recommend trying Anna Nails and if you are happy tell them ,if you're unhappy also tell them. They have many longtime customers 10 years +, like myself. If you are unhappy with the service that you receive make sure you tell them before you leave that way they can correct it ,don't wait until later to complain. read more

A couple years ago we cheated on them and went to other nail places near by but we realized, for the price and service, they are the best. The massage was relaxing! I really appreciated that with my picky preference any flaws I saw were perfected and the nail techs had no problem with that. Learned about this place through a Val-Pak coupon mailer. Got a pedicure and left extremely unhappy. For starters, the place looks messy and unwelcoming. My nail technician was not too friendly and kept trying to push me for extra services. A man (possibly the owner) spoke to her then he again asked me to upgrade or try more services. One star off for too much pressure... Whenever I get a pedicure I expect toenails to be trimmed, cleaned and feet buffed because after all who wants fresh polish with long toe nails and scratchy dry heels? When she started painting my toenails after "washing" my feet I asked her to please trim my toenails and buff my feet. She looked annoyed. Another star off for making me micro-manage my pedi. White tips? More like white wavy crooked lines... Very low quality work and massage was mediocre at best. Plus, she kept scratching me with her long nails during the foot massage... One more star off for that. Now for the thing that completely ruined my relax time... They had the big yellow mop bucket rattling along the floor throughout my pedicure and were mopping right by my station as well as sweeping the floor the entire time I was there. So i got there at 9:30am and asked for pedicure and a full set. It was a very slow morning, This newer guy did my my pedicure and he did great! but Once John her husband got to my full set it went down hill from here, I showed a picture of the shape i wanted and a basic french tip design.. first off i dont know how this man has his license to do nails, his work is just horrible.The first straw was him coughing and not coving his mouth, just because you have a mouth guard doesn't mean its okay to just cough while my hand is RIGHT THERE!! Oh and then you go and wash your hands, then you go blow your noes and throw the napkin away and comes back and starts doing my nails again(((DOES NOT WASH HANDS AFTER BLOWING HIS NOSE EWWWW))) I have NEVER cried about my nails at the salon but i just bursted out crying of how horrible they looked.. Anna came over and once she saw me crying she told me she would fix them, at this point its been an hour and 30 mins and im pretty annoyed at this point.. so i told her just to take them off and ill pay for my pedicure but she insisted she fix them so i sat there for another hour while she toook them all off and redid the WHOLE set.. I didn't get out of there until 12:30.. (((WHAT A WASTE OF A MORNING))) She kept apologizing but her husband is rude, bad vibes, and could care less.. he needs to not be doing nails!! One of the worst pedicures I've ever had. The polish has streaks even after she took it off and redid it. When I woke up the next morning the polish had sheet marks on it. She put it on WAY too thick. Overall the staff is not very friendly. The gentleman that greets you was nice, everyone else not so much. DONT DO IT SIS! This place is good for Mani/Pedis ONLY! The Rest is ALL Fluff. I went on my lunch break at 11 am and I walked in the door and said i only have an hour for my lunch. I asked is that enough time to get a full set of acrylic nails with gel polish? (I am not new to nails. An hour is enough time for a full set, gel polish and out the door). I was told YES and was sat down with Tom. He was nice and did very well with the acrylic set however he worked VERY SLOW and I was okay with that as we discussed it would take awhile longer for gel polish and to cure it under UV. So I said okay I'll come back when I get off at 3pm so we can finish. I was ok with that. PLEASE NOTE.. While he was doing the full set. I spotted a CUTE Leopard print nail on display and i said when i come back I would like to get that print one on each hand he said $12 each nail and okay when you come back. I PAID my $40 for the set and gel polish and left to go back to work. I get off and walked in the door at 3:10pm. I was greeted and was seated back down with Tom. I requested a solid White nail with one leopard print nail on each hand. He starts the white polish and I notice it wasnt good. Either the Polish was OLD or he wasn't good at polishing. He then tries to do the leopard which turns out to be a foil nail sheet and had NO CLUE how to do it. After 3 attempts I had to ask him not to experiment on me. IF YOU DONT KNOW HOW TO DO SOMETHING JUST SAY THAT. Its ok I would have respected your honesty. He then tried to wipe off the design colored foil with water which left black and brown residue.. Thinking he knew to drill that off he proceeds to try and paint white polish on top of it??? Like BRUH WHAT?? So I tell him no you are going to have to file that off bc its going to show through under white.. HE STILL POLISHES OVER IT. CLEARLY DIDNT KNOW HOW TO CORRECT. HE THEN SAW THAT IT SHOWED THROUGH THEN DRILLS IT OFF AND GETS AN ATTITUDE. Like I'm a problem? So I just asked to do the White gel polish and a silver glitter instead of the leopard. HORRIBLE OUTCOME. LUMPY POLISH AND BAD SERVICE AT THE END. This was my first visit as I am new to the area because of my job. I WONT BE BACK AND WILL BE WARNING OTHERS. read more

HORRIBLE experience! I saw this place while driving and thought I'd stop in since it was close by where I live. It was an awful experience, the young woman who serviced me was rude and angry, it was a tense atmosphere ... not the relaxing pedicure and manicure experience I had hoped for. She painted my nails & toes pretty - but isn't that what they are supposed to do!? I couldn't wait for her to finish so I could leave. Some forget that this is a luxury and an experience we like to pamper ourselves with - why should I feel bad when I am spending $50-$60 for an hour of relaxation that I did not receive.
