I had just come in from a long day of shopping and errands to prepare for a weekend trip. It was late, so I didn't have many options for food. I ordered a plain pie...and 1. Great customer service, Angelos took my delivery order at the close of the night. They also remembered the crushed red pepper that I requested. And! Fairly quick delivery 2. The pizza tastes like Ellio's :-/ The mozzarella is either not fresh, or of low quality. The crust is stiff and chewy at the same time-- don't ask me how?! I'm a pizza critic! 2/14/14- Where the f- is the love? Before I give my own account I'd like to say that I chose to come here because a few years ago I had visited this restaurant several times. I remembered the food was better than expected. I should have left when I was told that the restaurant ran out of linguini. That was the sign I should have left. How can an Italian restaurant run out? After a thoroughly disappointing dinner, I left unsatisfied. About 2hrs later..I got violently ill. Hopefully my stomach wrenching will subside and not require medical attention. I know this malady was from the food from here because I didn't eat all day. So to review...tonight on Valentine's day what had hoped to be a romantic evening with my wife has turned into a nightmare. This experience totally ruined my evening. I almost feel compelled to return the food my body rejected and ask for a refund! I'd take pictures of what the food looks like coming up but fear I would be banned from YELP. I have gotten takeout pizza and other italian food several times from here and it is now my go-to place. The pizza is really good with a good amount of cheese and a crispy and pillowy crust. Not too much, not too little. The main thing, though, that brings this pizza joint into the 4-star stratosphere is the other italian food. I didn't expect much, but we ordered penne vodka, tortellini alfredo, meatballs, and stuffed shells. The penne vodka was really good, no off flavors. The meatballs were acceptable, but I probably won't get them again. The stuffed shells were good with a bunch of mozz thrown on top. The crown jewel was the alfredo sauce. Holy hell it was some of the best of alfredo I've had. Alfredo is a very simple recipe, but I've found that a lot of places don't use the right combination. Some places it's way too rich. Some places it's watery and lacks flavor. Angelo's does it just right. Big fan. Oh, and yes, the guy who takes payment is a real ball ache. He gave me a hard time when my card wouldn't swipe through his machine dismissing any chance that it was his machine's fault. I assume he's the owner. However, I urge all of you to grow some thicker skin. A little attitude is the NJ way. And besides, the food is the important thing. read more

Sam and Charlie make you feel like family. Best pizza in the area. Especially their Sicilian pie. All their other dishes are excellent. Nothing fancy, trendy, or tacky - just good old reliable Italian food. Their Chicken Savoy is almost as good as the Belmont Tavern's. Ask for their specials on weekends. Ordered a 3' Italian sub from Angelo's for a party I was hosting. Decided to go to Angelo's because their prices beat everyone else in the area. The sub was good, bread was good. Felt a little skimpy with the cold cuts but it wasn't too bad. Only complaint was that the sub was not pre-sliced so we had to do it ourselves and it became very messy, especially since there was no cutting block underneath it and I was risking cutting into my countertop/table as I was cutting. That was the last thing I wanted to worry about while hosting a party. But other than that, no true complaints. read more

I've never actually sat in the restaurant section as the times I have been here have all been in the basement for private parties buffet style. This is my family's go to place for parties who live in the Bloomfield area. This was however, my wife's first time. The buffet style dinner was your typical Italian party foods. Their baked ziti was enjoyable. Not the greatest ever but I would go back for more any time. Their meatballs however were delicious. Possibly the best meatballs I've had in years. My wife also thoroughly enjoyed the eggplant (I dont like eggplant) and went back for seconds and thirds which is generally unlike her. The sausage was also good as were the beef tips in peppers and onions. The only thing we didnt like was the chicken francaise. Maybe thats not really what it was because it certainly did not taste of lemon but it sure looked like it and that is usually the dead horse food when it comes to Italian buffets at parties. Maybe it was a lackluster batch but that was the only disappointment. One day, if I find myself in Bloomfield, I'll have to stop in and actually sit down in their main restaurant section. read more

Came here for restaurant week with my boyfriend. We each did the prix fixe menu. Our apps were incredible. I actually was not expecting them to be anywhere near as good as they were. We got the bruschetta and the grilled eggplant mozzarella with red peppers apps. There was a lot of bruschetta; seven pieces of nice warm bread with balsamic vinegar, tomatoes, red onions, and the usual stuff that comes with bruschetta. Fantastic. (This bread was not cripsy like it usually is, but I didn't mind it one bit.) The grilled eggplant thing was just great too. The mozzarella was fresh and moist, the eggplant cooked to perfection, and the red peppers (the peppers were red, but I have a feeling that they were actually some type of specific pepper... sigh) were sweet. All combined, it was great. The apps were above our expectation, but the dinner was kind of at par. He got some cheesy rigatoni thing and I got some linguine thing. (Each was more components, but I forget!) I can't vouch for the rigatoni as I did not eat it, but my linguine just was not tasty at all. It came with clams that were borderline decent, but overall it just was very plain. And the desserts were two ice cream dishes (not the desserts listed on the Restaurant Week menu, maybe you should ask for those instead!) were mediocre. Our waitress was lovely as well. I've never actually eaten at Angelo's, but I'll definitely come back here again. I recommend this for restaurant week. It's not expensive; $20! And the food is fine. And it made me aware that you can actually eat at Angelo's (the dining room is hidden at the back of the building) and that they have food other than pizza. And food that is pretty freaking good. My favorite pizza in Bloomfield! Great cheese, great sauce, great crust and it all reheats perfectly in the oven. Their eggplant rollitini is also amazing. The wings are okay, but not the best quality and not spicy...just fried chicken wing dings. Veal Parm sandwich- cutlet is much thinner and tougher; Pizza- not the same flavor, cheese and sauce have changed, and crust more well done on the bottom. Angelo's is a decent restaurant, but not in my top 10. The dining area is a large room with tables and chairs, reminiscent of a pizza parlor. The waitress was nice and attentive. The pizza had a crispy crust and was better than I expected. I also had the meat ravioli that had an odd flavor to them. They weren't bad, but didn't leave me wanting to come back for more. I used to love coming to the restaurant here but the waitress tonight (1/1/19) had the worst attitude. She looked stressed out and miserable but there were only 2 table besides us so I don't get what her problem was. Not coming here again just for this experience. That's how bad it was. I ordered the white cheese pizza from Angelo's. I will say the delivery was faster than expected and the delivery person was nice. However, we ate one slice and had to toss the rest. I've had amazing white cheese pizza...and adequate white cheese pizza. There's a trick to it that not every pizza place gets. However, Angelo's was not even edible. The ricotta was the only decent part of the pie. The crust was chewy and (possibly?) undercooked. But, worse than that...the mozzarella was like congealed rubber and was less than appealing taste-wise. Not even reheating a slice in the oven helped it. Waste of money. read more

My wife and I have eaten from Angelo's for the past 8 years. The food is great. They make pizza the exact way we ask, and it's delicious. What's most important is there delivery service. It's always on time and the food is always hot. The guys who show up are professional. and don't play games. The delivery guy from one particular place we ordered from didn't want to deliver to our front door. He dialed our apartment three times, and each time he would not open the door to come upstairs after being buzzed in. He claimed the door buzzer wasn't working. Of course, he got no tip. For starters, this is a pizzeria with a restaurant in the back. In the back there is parking for customers who are planning on eating at the restaurant, which makes life a lot more simple! The restaurant portion of the pizzeria is nicely decorated, clean, and intimate. The waitress is welcoming, friendly, sits you immediately and asks you what you would like to drink once you are settled in at your table! Also, once you order your food it comes out shortly, no extreme waiting, or anything!!! The food is amazing! I am absolutely obsessed with their plain pizza and their cold antipasto salad!!! Their plain pizza has an amazing perfect distribution of cheese and tomato sauce, which both are flavorful, so one does not overpower the other. The pizza is delicious when it is fresh out of the oven, but it is out of this world when you let it sit for a few minutes or eat it as a left over!!! The cold antipasto is hands down the best cold antipasto I have ever had; I have never had a place even compare to Angelo's. You get a whole diversed selection of meats from ham, salami, ect. Also, the cheese is fresh and blends so well with the meats and lettuce. They evenly put everything in the cold antipasto, so if you choose a cold antipasto for 2, 4, ect, everyone gets to taste everything. I called and picked the food up but getting additional vegetables added to the food was not straight forward. It seemed like this was a rare request and the lady taking my order could not understand. I did get the vegetables though. Also, I only went here because I had a Restaurant.com certificate that was valid for dine-in or pick-up but they did not honor the certificate.
