For starters, this is a pizzeria with a restaurant in the back. In the back there is parking for customers who are planning on eating at the restaurant, which makes life a lot more simple! The restaurant portion of the pizzeria is nicely decorated, clean, and intimate. The waitress is welcoming, friendly, sits you immediately and asks you what you would like to drink once you are settled in at your table! Also, once you order your food it comes out shortly, no extreme waiting, or anything!!! The food is amazing! I am absolutely obsessed with their plain pizza and their cold antipasto salad!!! Their plain pizza has an amazing perfect distribution of cheese and tomato sauce, which both are flavorful, so one does not overpower the other. The pizza is delicious when it is fresh out of the oven, but it is out of this world when you let it sit for a few minutes or eat it as a left over!!! The cold antipasto is hands down the best cold antipasto I have ever had; I have never had a place even compare to Angelo's. You get a whole diversed selection of meats from ham, salami, ect. Also, the cheese is fresh and blends so well with the meats and lettuce. They evenly put everything in the cold antipasto, so if you choose a cold antipasto for 2, 4, ect, everyone gets to taste everything. Their food was good. I ate a few different Italian dishes and they were all very tasty. The customer service though is poor. I called and picked the food up but getting additional vegetables added to the food was not straight forward. It seemed like this was a rare request and the lady taking my order could not understand. I did get the vegetables though. Also, I only went here because I had a Restaurant.com certificate that was valid for dine-in or pick-up but they did not honor the certificate. Went here for my birthday with 12 people. We called in advance and made a reservation. The man who awnsered the phone was very nice and allowed me to bring a cake as well as some wine.i arrived a half hour early since it was my party... When we arrived the table was not set up yet, but was set up very quickly. When we sat down they supplied us with bread as everyone ordered. Out drinks were served first, and then appetizers came out. I posted some pics. The apps were excellent especially the fried calamari. Main courses came next and the food was excellent. I had chicken Marsala which was served extremely hot so I know it went from the pan to the table. They gave us two servers which was excellent. Chicken Murphy was served just the way my mother would serve it. The gravy was excellent. Dessert was my birthday cake and cappuccinos. The check came to 338.00 for 12 people including gratuity of fifty five dollars which we added an additional twenty. They wrappe up my extra cake a way to make sure it would last the night in the car. Overall a great experience. read more

If I could, I'd give ZERO stars for Angelo's. Probably the worst pizza I've ever had... The Margherita pizza had no basil, what might have been mushrooms (???), flavorless mozzarella, a few mushy tomatoes that resembled ketchup near the edge, and a watery pink sauce that literally dripped off the slices. The cold antipasto (for 2) was okay, but left a bitter aftertaste and had only two very small slices of cheese. In New Jersey, with a name like Angelo's, you'd expect more...and I think a child with some jarred pizza sauce and store bought can of dough could've done better. Great service, delivery was quick especially for the late hour i ordered food. I got the chicken ceasar salad, tortellini in alfredo sauce, and the garlic cheesy bread. Everything was great but the chicken has no real flavor, thats my only complaint. read more

I'm in absolute shock over the bad reviews. My husband and I ordered through Grub Hub the other day, and not only were the portions HUGE, but the food was DELICIOUS! We ordered calamari as an appetizer, which came in a tray filled to the top. My husband had the cheese tortellini, and I had the bbq mushroom chicken on the bone. It was SO delicious that we ate until we couldn't eat anymore, and we had enough to take to work for lunch the next day... EACH! Angelo's is definitely our new go-to place. Like 3.5 stars.. My family and I have been coming here for as long as I can remember.. decent Italian food. We eat in the dining room which not many people seem to do, and we have had a few private parties in the basement for surprise birthday parties and such. I usually get the eggplant parm and add ricotta and it is good. The food is average Italian- nothing bad, nothing amazing. We typically find ourselves here just because it's tradition and we're so used to it. I know I'll be back multiple times. Oh- the front take out area needs much updating- prices are way wrong on the board and the customer service could be improved. read more

This is a neighborhood staple! The sandwiches are great, as are the pastas. I've had chicken parm (sandwich and platter) and penne with vodka sauce. Generous portions and excellently prepared! This review is on a whole different level and I want it out there! I was walking home from the Funeral Home next to Angelo's with my 85 year old Dad who said goodbye to a long time friend. It's hot outside...and so unexpectedly Charlie came out with an icy cold bottle of water for my Dad! It just restores your faith in people to have such caring people right in your neighborhood looking out for you! Thank you so much Charlie! and btw...the food here is great!! Angelo's Pizza won't win any awards for being the best of anything because they are just really good at everything. Pizza has nice crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside crust. Sauce and cheese are applied in liberal but not over-powering amounts. Toppings are generous. Their hot sandwiches are also good. I've had the eggplant parm sandwich and my husband has had the chicken parm and meatball subs. All were really good and crispy from the oven. Their entrees are equally good and flavorful. They have party space in the back of the restaurant however, it's a little confusing to get to because you have to walk around the side of the building and not in the front door where the delivery and take-out business is. That being said, it's a really great option for good NJ pizza. They're open every day and open late. Street parking only but you might be able to use the car wash lot after their closed for the day. I've seen cars parked there and think they might be Angelo's customers. read more

Although I prefer Vinnies, Angelos is the pizza that my family ordered most frequently when I was a kid growing up on Bay Ave. Angelos was my personal pizza benchmark for taste. I would spend the rest of my life comparing any pizza I would eat to that of Angelos and Vinnies. Now since I don't live here I always sit down in the restaurant in the back. Angelo's is a good place to eat, as long as you know what to order. Their pizzas are excellent (especially the clam pie) as is their frutti di mare (as good as you'd get in Rome), linguini with red clam sauce and most chicken dishes. However, they serve a lot of frozen entrees and these are sub-par, so ask before ordering if it is fresh. The wait staff can be a bit frustrating, sometimes really friendly, other times not so much (unless you're a regular, in which case they will linger at your table and talk to you all night while ignoring other diners). Nevertheless, my wife and I eat at or get take-out from Angelo's often so I guess you could say we like the place. read more

We called there because we wanted to take my mother for her birthday,but when my wife called she received attitude write from the start from the female owner about bringing a cake.My wife then was treated to a hang up! This was my first time at this place and I was a walk in. I ordered one slice for my son and two drinks. The 20 ounce drinks were listed at $1.50 each. The man behind the counter who was making pizza with his bare hands charged us $2 each. $6 for one slice and two drinks? We could have gone to McDonalds for that price and BOTH of us could have eaten at a place that uses gloves when they handle food. When I asked why he over charged us he replied it was because I did not sit down. if I had known they had a place to sit down I would have loved that but since nothing was mentioned until AFTER I paid I can only assume they like ripping off their customers. read more

I have given a lot of business to the take-out menu. The food is decent. Prices are reasonable. Recently I called in a plain pie order, and showed up 15 minutes later as the person on the phone told me. I had to wait 25 minutes MORE at the counter while I watched pie after pie going out for delivery--probably at least 15 pizzas came out of the oven and went to delivery while I waited and waited. The delivery guy left and came back, and I was still standing there. it seemed they cared more about pleasing the customers asking for delivery than the customer in person before them with money in hand. As I was waiting for so long I had to listen to conversations one of the main employees/owner? was having on the phone about "getting a deal" at what sounded like a vacation rental he was trying to book for his family. It might have been wiser for him to apologize to his customer for the wait, or explain why things took so long. I stood and waited and waited and eventually got my pie. Being around the corner from my house, I have eaten many pies from there. Usually about 1 a week. The crust is perfect with just the right amount of toppings. One of my favorites is Angelo's Special it has everything but the kitchen sink. Yummy!! Prices are fair. Don't know why it takes so long to deliver though as I said I live around the corner. My family ordered delivery from Angelo's tonight and I have to say I am impressed. When my order was delivered there was a mistake with my Meatball sandwich. The mistake was not their fault but a miss communication/interpretation of what I wanted. I called and explained the error and without even asking they offered to send another sandwich. This place is a diamond in the rough. Super good and affordable. The steak salad is normally DELICIOUS. There pizza is good, steaks (depending on the cook) are also great. The decor is so so but the waitresses are super nice! I would def recommend checking this place out. read more

We ate in their back room... The pizza and stuffed mushrooms were good but the ziti was mushy and overcooked. Most importantly the waitress was the rudest waitress I've ever had wait on me. We were the only people in the restaurant and she annoyed with any request we made. If I asked for another glass of water she rolled her eyes. This place is one of my go to for a great quick lunch or dinner at a great value. Over the past year I probably eat here about 8 times, and this place never disappoints. The chicken parm chicken marsala and chicken franchaise are all all terrific. You can never go wrong with their pizza and actually have a good variety of desserts although I've never tried. Skip this place if you can. Food was just bland -- nothing flavorful or "Italian" about this place. Only one table was seated when we arrived, and they left before our fried mozzarella appetizer ($6.50) arrived. It still took an hour for our meals to arrive!! Appetizer was the only good thing about this place. Sprite came in ugly yellowish plastic cups for $2 and beware...refills will cost u another $2!! we ordered a chicken parm and spaghetti for $13.95 and the tomato sauce was watery. we actually saw water on the bottom of our plate when we moved the pasta to the side. Also ordered a Margheritta pizza and this is where the real nightmare resided. I was incredibly disappointed at the LOOK of my pizza. At $15.50, I expected waaaayyy better. No fresh basil, no fresh tomatoes, and the mozzarella looked stale and dead! I was afraid to taste but alas, I had to. how else could I justify hating this place if I didn't actually eat the food? So I braced myself and ate a slice and I honestly feel this monstrosity does not deserve to be called pizza. I am not a fan of pizza chains and tend to like local pizza places better because they tend to have a more authentic italian taste, but I must admit dominos,pizzahut,&papajohns all are 1,000% better than this sad monster they called pizza at Angelo's. Dough was stale and tough and just overall dry. and they used some canned peeled tomatoes -- nothing was fresh. I'm not sure what that white thing was but it tasted more like cardboard than mozzarella. Check came to $40.61 before tip and I must say the food was nowhere near worth it. Didn't even eat there. 1st as soon as we arrived we were not greeted and just asked to wait. 2nd the lady sitting the guest ask the couple who had gotten there after my husband and I were would they like to sit but when it was our turn she told us were to sit and when I asked to move us to another table this one was way too close to the other table we were told NO. although mind you this place is the size of a shoe box.
