I have visited Anderson's several times and am always very pleased with the dessert (I have never had the food). They have a good amount of frozen custard flavors and even more hard ice cream flavors which they allow you to sample before making your final choice. The frozen custard particularly stands out as it is very creamy (due to incorporation of egg yolk which soft-serve ice cream does not contain as much of, if any). The ice cream also has a dense creamy consistency vs the airyness of cheap ice creams. I definitely recommend. read more

I will be the first to admit - I can not honestly review Anderson's for anything but the custard and deserts. I don't have a problem with that. The prices are reasonable in this day and age. And the selection of possible treats and revival of youth treats are massive. If you ask for sprinkles - be ready. You will not see your treat beneath the coating of candy goodness. The daily flavors are often unique - and often available as "twists" if you're looking at the softserve. A large household is actually able have a fairly regular night of treat without having to redo the household budget. Someday (maybe) I'll try the rest of their offerings - and I'll modify or add at that time. But until then - get your Custard On! read more

Anderson's made me sad today. Barely any roast beef on my Carl's choice sandwich. The fries just tasted like grease. This is not what we are used to at one of our fave summer spots. The ice cream never fails though. It saved the whole experience! Hopefully it was just an off day. read more

Amazing frozen custards. We saw an employee shirt that said "ate my frozen custard so fast I forgot to take a picture" something along those lines. That is literally what me and my husband did. We were half way trough when we realized we didn't snap a pic. Super delish, and the cherry ontop of our weekend get away. Had not visited Anderson's in quite a few years, and they used to be primarily known for barbeque beef, which I never really enjoyed or understood. On a recent trip to the area, I opted for the plain roast beef instead and was very pleasantly surprised. Possibly the best kimmelweck roll I've ever eaten. Seriously, incredibly fresh, crisp outer shell with just the right mix of kosher salt and Caraway seeds, and an incredibly soft and chewy inside make their signature roast beef sandwich a straight up home run. Plenty of free toppings to customize your sandwich. Gravy served with curly fries tasted home made as well. About $15 for two good size roast beef sandwiches and an order of curly fries and gravy. Plenty for two to share. Give them a try, a tasty bargain awaits, but be prepared to wait, especially on warm summer days. Locals can take over, but it's worth the wait. read more

Understand that custard is not ice cream. Frozen custard has more fat in it. Suffer. The five stars are for the frozen custard only. It is delicious. Had a large hot fudge and I was in heaven. Don't have the beef on weck because you can find much better around town but you will never find better frozen custard. Anderson's is a local favorite, and for good reason. The food is of good quality, and their desserts (mainly ice cream, custard, and related products) is excellent. The food is decent, and mostly consists of roast beef in various forms (plain, BBQ, beef & cheddar). They've recently added additional sandwiches to their menu, but I can't speak for those. The roast beef is good, better than what you'd receive at most fast food restaurants. The prices for the food are a little high by fast food standards, but you do get what you pay for. The frozen custard there is excellent, far better than most ice cream shops. The flavors rotate regularly, and you can mix flavors as well. The "hard ice cream" is Perry's, which is good, but no different than what you'd find anywhere else. There is a wide selection of other desserts, such as floats, milkshakes, sundaes, and the like, all of it very good. This location also has SpoT Coffee products, which is a great addition of another local favorite. read more

No issues with the desserts or food, but will not be returning after being a loyal customer for 30 years due to their poor customer service. I was given an incorrect order and when I returned it several days later ( I had house guests due to death in family) to report the error (no one liked the incorrect flavor, although I did serve it to 3 people so half the container was gone, although they didn't eat it) they refused to take responsibility for the error or to "make things right" by offering me another flavor. This location is so much fun! It's more old school than the other Anderson's locations in WNY. Anderson's custard will always be some of the best custard around. I enjoy their roast beef sandwiches and love that they dip the roll right into the au jus for you. They also do sliced turkey, for those that don't eat beef. I've had their grilled chicken sandwich before and it was incredibly moist and the chicken had great flavor. They've gotten a more extensive menu over the years. I love their curly fries with ketchup and malt vinegar. I lpve the fact that they have the to go packets of malt vinegar, because a lot of places, when you ask for vinegar, they only have white or red. I don't mind either, but when you've got just out of the fryer hot and crispy fries, malt vinegar is the perfect finishing touch. Their ice cream menu has also expanded. They've got soft and hard, they've got waffle, wafer and sugar cones and also have dipped waffle and sugar cones and bowls. They have lemon ice and a revolving ice flavor; i.e. cherry, lime, grape, etc. They always mix up a different custard flavor but still have the basic chocolate, vanilla and twist. They have pepsi products, which makes me love them even more. They're sundaes are huge and their whipped cream is real! (And believe me, real whipped cream elevates a sundae to a whole 'nother level. The staff here are incredibly friendly. Parking can be quite chaotic in the summer time, and sometimes the wait can be a little long. It's not their fault, it's really because they're so popular and busy. Also, when it snows, cones are 1/2 off! Great place to go, kid friendly, take credit cards ... enjoy! read more

Definitely the best Anderson's in western New York. Love the old building and the garage door windows. Lots of order windows keep the lines moving and the wait short. Plenty of seating, both indoor and outdoor. Tons of flavors and dessert options, including custard, ice cream, and yogurt. Staff let's you try out flavors which is helpful since there are so many. Love a roast beef on weck. This particular store has the absolute best kimmelweck rolls on the planet. We make the drive to this Anderson's location no matter where we stay in Buffalo. Anderson 's makes their own plant based ice cream and it's one of the best I've had. I had the chocolate raspberry and it had a really creamy texture with a rich chocolate flavor. The berries were a nice tart contrast. They only had two flavors of plant based however and they were both chocolate. I wish they'd had a vanilla based flavor. It'd also be great if they had a plant based soft serve. I know they have soft ices but when I want soft serve I'm not looking for an ice. I tried the black bean burger while I was there and it was fine. The fries were really good. So, I'd definitely go back for the ice cream and hope they do more plant based flavors and a soft serve. read more

I am in love with everything Anderson's. This location doesn't feature any indoor dining area, but it does have a fabulous 1950's drive-in feel to it that I just love. My go to is the chocolate custard with chocolate sprinkles which is always thick, rich and delicious. This location has a self-serve soda machine so refills are free! Also really like that they have vinegar available for your fries in the little packets (what are french fries without vinegar!). read more

A WNY hot spot, Anderson's has been consistently good for years on end. Their custard (soft serve ice cream) simply cannot be beat. I've had their veggie burger, fried fish sandwich and roast beef all numerous times and they're all pretty decent. One of those restaurants where you always know what you're going to get, as opposed to the greasy spoons where the quality of your meal really does depend on who's on the clock. There was no one in the store on 10/25 /2018 at 3:55 pm. I ordered a small roast beef on weck, small coffee, small drink and curly fries for there. Two people came ordered and left.I went back to the window and asked about my order and the girl at the counter asked the smaller girl in the back and she went to some ticket machine back there and pulled out my order and started on it. After quite a while they gave me everything but the fries. ,When I ask for them they said they had just started them and it would be a few minutes more . I asked for my money back for the fries I didn't get and left. I will not be back. They acted like they didn't have a clue on what they were doing. read more

Add me to the list of relocated Buffalonians who miss this place. Always hit this location growing up, and whether it was a Lemon Ice in the blue plastic cup, a twist in a sugar cone, or the BBQ beef sandwich my grandmother would buy me for lunch after I mowed her lawn, you just can't go wrong at Andersons. I can still remember my brother and I racing each other to see who could finish their "Pint of Twist" first. The custard is what I miss the most, and when in town, my wife and I always get a large twist, even if it is a cold, snowy Christmas Eve (and cones are half-off when snowing!).
