We've driven by King Condrell's a bunch of times and finally decided to stop in on the day before our daughter's first day of school. What a sweet (pun intended!) little shop! We took home some chocolate covered Oreos and salt water taffy, which were all delicious. Our daughter got this gigantic ice cream cone and ate every last crumb. Not pictured are the cappuccino that I got (so good!) and the loganberry soda that my partner and I shared. I'd never had a loganberry soda and it was SO good. These old fashioned candy and ice cream shops seem increasingly rare these days and there's something quite special about them. They make their own ice cream, sauces and toppings, and the chocolate/fudge in the candy cases. We had a blast and will certainly return. read more

Ice cream for dinner? Yes, please! Condrell's has been a neighborhood staple since my childhood and the quality has never wavered. You simply cannot beat the sundaes here. The sauces are all homemade and in my opinion, they're really the star of the show. If you want to go all out you can get the "king's portion" double scoop sundae, but I appreciate that they also serve single scoop "queen's portions" for a slightly lower cost. The staff are always friendly and efficient, willing to make modifications so that you can craft the ice cream of your dreams. Worth noting is the very silly water station near the front door. Condrell's has always served tiny glasses of water, which is now offered in Dixie cups that you fill yourself. If you're trying to stay super hydrated these baby sized cups aren't going to meet your needs, but I have come to expect them and think they add to the charm of the venue. read more

I have drove by here, only a couple of times, but have been curious about it due to its awesome exterior! I had to pick up an order for someone and instantly became a customer ... First of all, all the ladies working were very friendly! Kindness always goes a long way for me! Also with the orders I picked up, there was a little wait, because they truly make things fresh! I was really blown away by the assortment of Easter chocolate! I mean almost every theme you can think of, they have chocolate to represent it! I had to hold myself back from muting myself an amazing purse and high heel made of chocolate! All of my exclamation points are totally relative to my amazement lol (I am also thinking of Elaine Benes right now for any fellow Seinfeld fans). What I did buy was a giant music note of chocolate for my son's Easter basket .. he makes music and I am excited to give him this... And to mention: although the largest variety was milk chocolate, there is plenty of dark chocolate and white chocolate available too! While this place lacks that aesthetically pleasing energy, the icecream is the best! I crave the chocolate shakes. The only downside is that they seem wayyyy over worked. They are so good that they're very busy. The girls are kind and work hard! But they need more employees to handle how busy they are!! My husband and I came here last night with some friends after dinner to have dessert even though it was crazy cold outside. The menu is huge and has so many choices and flavors of ice cream. I was going to get the brownie mania sundae but the worker let me know they had full brownies I could get heated up and put a sundae on top. I was visiting from Texas, and we were amazed by the friendliness of staff, as well as their knowledge of the products, and their spot-on recommendations after talking about our favorite flavors. We also tried some of their amazing sponge candies that we have never had in Texas. We ended up ordering a lot of candy to have shipped home and a gift certificate for our NY friends. King Condrells is a Legend in Kenmore Town of Tonawanda area! They have handmade candies and chocolate. (try them for holidays as the have hundreds of different novelties and boxes of chocolate designed just for Easter, Valentines, Christmas and Hanukkah) The ice cream is also made in house. So many different flavors to choose from. On the menu they have specialty sundaes and shakes etc Such as the Kenmore West and Kenmore East sundaes! You can get it to go but sit and enjoy the ambiance especially if you have kids and feel the nostalgia of an old fashioned Ice Cream Parlor! read more

I used to think highly of this place until I was taking advantage of. I asked for 1/2 pound of chocolate. I also asked if it's possible to get it in a pretty heart container for Valentine's Day, like the ones displayed. They said yes. However, not only did they give me the wrong box (they gave me a blank white cardboard box), but they also didn't tell me the box itself cost an extra $11!! I inquired about this and they just said, "eh the money is worth it". I felt completely disheartened and taken advantage of. While the workers are very friendly, many of them are not very professional (for example, they don't dress very presentable), and it showed by the lack of communication. read more

After trying different businesses that provide sugar free products, we almost gave up the search. What was available was disappointing. When trying again I came across King Condrell's. With low expectations we drove there. Entering the store is like stepping back in time. A huge display case ran the entire length of the store. The selections were mind boggling but was the selection of sugar free as impressive? To my amazement it was! There were numerous selections in both milk and dark chocolate. While our selections were being boxed I looked over the impressive item list that ran across the entire back wall. This is just like an old fashioned ice cream parlor. Obviously taste is the deciding factor and our selections didn't disappoint. Finally sugar free items the don't taste sugar free. People here are very friendly and happy to answer any questions. The decor is very retro, fun and a place one doesn't mind stopping in Kenmore. My friend had met me, as I was in the area and glad to have ordered in memory of my mom a hot fudge sundae, real whipped cream, and melt in your mouth hot fudge sauce for my sundae. I'm not a sundae eater at all, and this was one of a kind special treat. Perfect way to enjoy a delicious treat, and enjoy another one of my moms favorites. Hey so don't get me wrong I love this place, they have good vegan options and we come back regularly but the portions are nice so we like to get to go containers and since we live a bit away we tend to nibble a few bites while at the restaurant. However the vibe is so uncomfortable and the people working make us feel like we are doing something wrong when we sit for 5 minutes to eat our 25$ icecream plus tip. Now I work at a dining restaurant and I would never sit if they were super busy or tables were full because I understand tables are needed for service. But with how much we are spending and that we tip I don't understand why sitting with our container of ice cream is such a big deal that they have to say comments about us or even the one server said we shouldn't do that because the owner is there. I really like this place but come on it's an ice cream shop don't make your employees feel uncomfortable or treat your customers like it's a high class establishment. Service was really good, ice cream was awh-right, but I preferred another, similar spot in the City! I'm not familiar with the area, but it's a downtown-y looking spot with street/residential parking. So there's no lot. Interior looks pretty old timey. Menu is pretty overwhelming, both the booklet and what's displayed behind the counter. There's soo much to choose from! I ordered a 2-scoop sundae, assuming that it would be smaller/cost less than a sundae that appears on their menu. However, after all the toppings like whipped cream, sauce, it cost the same. So I guess sundaes do not come with these extras and each topping costs a certain amount. 2-scoop sundae was good enough for 2-3ppl...unless you're a big eater! Staff with helpful and friendly, so review doesn't reflect that. Ice cream/whipped cream just didn't wow me like another ice cream palour in Buff. So hence the just ok review. read more

Forgot about how cute and retro this ice cream parlor is, as I haven't been in a few years until this past week. Probably the largest ice cream menu selection you will ever see. Chocolates for sale as well . I used some restraint and got only a one scoop sundae with orange chocolate ice cream , hot fudge and whipped cream . This sundae was a chocolate lovers dream and brought me back to my childhood . It was nice being served by a waitress instead of going up to a counter to order . Mini glasses of water were provided as well . I know this parlor used Perry's ice cream products in the past but now they make their own ice cream . They have a variety of "pre-designed" sundaes as well as a make your own option. They also offer something called the kitchen sink that looks amazing if you have enough people. It is a literal sink filled with several scoops of ice cream and a bunch of toppings of your choice. On this visit, I opted to make my own sundae. I got a scoop of peanut butter brownie and a scoop of chocolate explosion (I may have the names slightly wrong) topped with peanut butter sauce, peanut butter and jelly cups and freshly sliced banana. Still the moment you taste whatever it is you order, all that cost fades away. I tried the sundae with peanut butter chunks and peanut butter sauce. Yum! It came with whipped cream and chocolate pieces on top. Portion was more then enough for 2 people. Coffee was fresh and also an extensive assortment to choose from. First, the good stuff. The shop is super cute. The counter workers were so sweet and friendly. I loved being able to sit and wait for our order at a table. The peach sundae was a unique offering and we all really enjoyed the peach topping. The menu was huge, even slightly overwhelming. The portions are very generous. On the not so-great side... The hot fudge on my hot fudge sundae was kind of weird. Thin. Not much texture. But the worst was the long hair in my daughter's scoop of cotton candy ice cream. It wasn't ON it, it was somehow IN it and had to be tugged out. She wasn't too upset by it, but it haunts my dreams. I had to resist the urge to gag every time I thought of it on the way home. I'll add a different sauce or add a candy. Sometimes I get the Queen's portion, sometimes King. The Queen's portion is 1 scoop of ice cream, the King's is 2. If you get tbt King's size for yourself , you'll def have a bunch to bring home! And YES, it tastes just as good the next day in your freezer. Last time we went, hubby ventured out and got a strawberry, banana milkshake but with real banana (not banana flavoring) and it sort of had a smoothie texture. It was yummy! The last stop before the trek home led us to King Conrell's. This is not my first time at this sweet, sugary rodeo. I may or may not have come here last year and ate until I didn't fit in my pants anymore. Simply put, this is THE BEST ice cream and sweets spot I've ever been to. This go round, I got a medium cookies and cream shake. It was to die for and my only regret was not getting a large. It's super sweet and I'm almost certain that they load it with chocolate syrup, from the taste of it. I also picked up two variety packages of chocolate covered truffles. They have a variety of sweets available as gifts, already pre-wrapped for the holiday season. You can also choose single pieces or mix and match from their huge selection in their display case. The first time I ever came here, I was told by one of the locals that "you HAVE to try to sponge candy!" So he went and bought me and my friends some and we did enjoy. It reminded me of a softer, spongier butterfinger. Supposedly it's a big Buffalo thing. Hard to go wrong here. With that said, I HIGHLY recommend KC if you ever have an overwhelming sweet tooth!
