This was my first time ever at Amy's bread and I'm so sad we came towards the end of the day! A lot of the bread and pastries were sold out, but I had no idea since there were so many other shops further closer to the entrance and this particular shop was towards the middle or back. Nevertheless, the gentleman working there was incredibly helpful and we ended up getting a blueberry coffee cake slice as well as some walnut bread slice that looked more like a hummingbird cake slice and two different breads that were simply delicious!! The gentleman actually said he was from Oakland, Oakland, California, so that was funny to me since I'm from the Bay Area also. Ambience in the store was very clean and rustic and if they weren't closing so soon I would've stayed to enjoy my pastry, but we had just finished eating at the Japanese taco spot down the street or alleyway? Jeez, this place is annoying. I'll admit that the bread twists and other bakery treats sometimes call my name. But the service is awful. There are never enough people working behind the counter, and even when there is one person in front of me it takes forever. Also, there is no clear indication where the beginning of the line forms so people are always cutting - intentionally and unintentionally. The last five times I wanted to buy something, I ended up leaving without making a purchase in order to get back to work in time. Frustrating! read more

Met my expectations for a toasty buttery breakfast. The plain bagel with jam & butter was deliciously sweet, jam dripping from all corners. The Almond Brioche Bread was a huge slice with the right amount of almonds. Service was good, place is constantly busy. Plenty of community tables to sit and people watch through the Chelsea Market. The only setback was that at 9am they were already out of homemade hot chocolate & yes that means Mocha too. read more

I've been to Amy's Bread at Chelsea Market before, and we returned because of 1) their delicious bread and 2) the availability of seating (many of the other food stalls at Chelsea Market are a grab-and-go situation). The fresh breads and cakes are presented beautifully, and it is easy to walk out with more treats than you intended to buy. My group ordered toasted sesame bagels with cream cheese, lattes, and an olive bread stick for the road. The bagels and coffee were served within minutes, and we settled at a table to enjoy our late-morning breakfast. While not standouts, the bagels with a generous spread of cream cheese hit the spot. We enjoyed the olive bread the next day, and while it would have tasted better fresh and/or toasted, the olive flavor was still delicious. read more

Well, I love the name of this place - HAHA (my name is Amy) I wish they had fun t-shirts! I am a bread LOVER. In San Francisco, I go for all the various artisan sourdoughs at all the fancy bakeries around town. My sister even makes the Tartine loaf every week, and I used to be gifted one every one in a while. My friend loves their semolina with raisins and fennel. We toasted it up with butter for breakfast the next day, and it was outstanding. The fennel really comes through and works with the sweet raisins. What happened to this place? It used to be so good, but my last experience was anything but. I used to come here for their fresh baked bread and chocolate twists. Just went back after years of not visiting, and the quality has deteriorated beyond belief. The chocolate twist was stale, hollow, and plain awful. What a disappointment. It was so bad that I considered asking for a refund. Hope this was a fluke, but a lot of the baked goods clearly looked days old. read more

Great place to stop by for some baked goods and take a walk through the highline as you leave your visit to Chelsea Market PISTACHIO TWIST Not something you see everywhere, and would have liked the pistachio flavor to be bolder, but the pieces of pistachio add a nice crunch overall and the dough was soft, and flaky. Enjoyed it still :) Their claim to fame is their sticky bun, which was also pretty good but I can't say I'm well versed in the sticky bun scene of NYC so hard to compare to what else is out there for me. I have to try more of their products. I got the butterscotch cashew bar and a Parker roll. Weird combination but I was starving. I'm not really a fan of cashews, I don't get them, but give me butterscotch and toffee any day. I don't know why I expected to for the cashew bar to taste like peanut brittle, thankfully it didn't. The cashew bar is awesome. The bar is actually very soft to eat, gooey, and not overpowering to eat. I couldn't feed it to my mouth fast enough. The cashew bar is what I've hoped that Blondie brownies would taste like. The yellow cake with pink frosting was calling my name, but I was able to walk away. The Parker roll tasted like a Parker roll. Next time I'm in, I'll be sure to try the yellow cake. read more

It was a dream come true to finally eat at Amy's Bread. I didn't care if it was 7:30 AM, I wasn't going to leave the shop without of a piece of their Pink Frosted Yellow Cake. It's something straight out of a dream. Thick, rich, buttery cake generously coated with a delectable vanilla icing that sent my taste buds straight to heaven. So good, I couldn't keep myself from eating the entire slice. Plus, it's just adorable. Taste and presentation truly outshines all the cake slices I'v ever eaten in New York (which is so many only God knows). I also picked up a Bacon & Cheese Croissant which was an excellent contrast to the super sweet cake. It was everything I'd ever imagined. read more

Sticky bun - I tried this after 7 hours of purchasing so I won't have the most accurate review. But it wasn't too sweet and the dough was like a Cinnabon texture (a bit tough and cardboard box type texture). The flavor isn't overwhelming at all - if anything it can add more flavor. It doesn't lack but can use more flavor. Overall I think this compares to a cinnamon roll. The inside is definitely more moist and soaked in the cinnamon juice and coating. Pistachio croissant roll - there's a hint of pistachio flavor.. but it needs more of that because if you didn't know it was a pistachio flavor, you wouldn't really be able to recognize what flavor it was. Also tried the sourdough bread roll - just as you expect it to taste. Nothing more or less. Service was fine - the workers all asked me if I was being helped but wasn't the friendliest of bunch. Ambiance is nice. It gives me a home bakery type feel. I don't recall what they're famous for but I don't think I'll be coming back. 6/10 read more

I dont know what kind of crack they put in their french baguette but something about it its so freaking delicious. It is literally the best baguette I ever had and honestly if my stomach was big enough I'd eat the entire thing in one sitting. I've only had the cupcake here but the cupcake was solid! I got the chocolate on chocolate and the cupcake itself was moist, full of rich, dark- chocolately flavor. I had bought a dozen and unfortunately could not finish the cupcakes all in one sitting among our party. Luckily, after sticking the cupcakes in an airtight container, they remained just as moist as the first day I got them!! I've had goodies from the other locations - the black and white cookie is so good - but I definitely want to return to try the famed sticky bun! Fun little chain bakery in New York, this location is located within the famous Chelsea Market. Being one of the few options open during the wee hours at Chelsea Market, it only made sense to grab some bread and a coffee. They have a small variety of breads, sweet and savory treats, and a good drink menu. As mentioned above I visited during the opening hours, so the market and Amy's Bread was a ghost town, but plenty of seating to go around (Not sure during busy hours though). As for pricing, its New York and Chelsea Market to be more specific, expect about a 20% extra fee on top of everything you are accustomed to in your hometown bakery. That is not to take away from their fresh and tasty treats, but it is a tad expensive. Staff was nothing to write home about, but for a quick to go type order, I cannot complain honestly. If you need a quick pick me up, Amy's Bread can definitely provide that at any moments notice. read more

Love this little shop within the Chelsea Market. The have such an amazing variety of breads and pastries as well as beverages. It's nothing too fancy and the prices are amazing too- you can afford to buy biscotti, coffee and a bagel with cream cheese all for cheaper than a venti Starbucks coffee next door!
