Just fair pasta was OK service was great pizza was tasteless..... if you made it better at home it's really not that great of a place

I was looking for a great Italian restaurant near Oro Valley and I'm so glad I found Vero Amore. The service was excellent, the food was amazing and the ambiance comfortable. My date and myself tried out an appetizer, an amazingly fresh salad, a pizza for the main course and Cannoli for dessert. Every part of the dinner was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

A nice, casual, yummy break from a week of Ritz dining. The staff are a highlight - energetic, thoughtful, professional. Nice cocktails. Would suggest the bread with garlic butter - goes great with the meatballs. The Caesar salad had spot-on flavor - so much more than just romaine and croutons. And pizza is the star. It's NOT the gigantic cheap-eats pizza from a delivery service. It's high end, smaller, thinner and authentic. I read the other reviews and I'm 100% certain that if there was an "off" pizza or plate of food (it happens), the kind staff would have been more than willing to please with a replacement. The place had a nice feeling to it and I left full and happy. read more

Came up from Phoenix to visit, came across this little gem and glad I did! The restaurant has a beautiful charming feel to it and the food was excellent. Our server Nikki was engaging and quick always making sure we were attended too! I will definitely be coming back. Check out this sweet little spot if you haven't already. read more

Slooooow service (only one server and busboy for entire place day we were there) but the taste & quality of the food made up for it! Pizza was soooo good, due to the fresh crust. Paninis were very good as well - very fresh bread and very fresh greens. My niece said it was the best meal of her life : ) read more

So, so good! Today I was driving by and I had my dog in the car so I called and asked if I could order a prosciutto Panini to go... They made it fresh AND brought it to my car! Oh how I'm going to miss this!!! read more

Amore - On homemade bread - Italian Near Me - Marana, Arizona

See all

Vero Amore definitely falls into my top three faves for Italian pizza in town. The ingredients are fresh, the dough is tasty, the house flat bread second to none and that herbed butter served in the side... Delicious! Vero Amore is casual and I like that. Its great for week night dinner but cozy and quaint for a date night too. The wine list is good and the beer list better. I've enjoyed pizzas, salads, panini a and mussels. The mussels were tasty but the tomato sauce lacked the richness you'd find in Italy. Nonetheless Vero Amore brings us a touch closer to Italy, all the way from the desert. read more

Met friends there last night for supper. We each tried a different dish, two ordered pizza and they were great. The other two (us guys) had pasta dishes with names I can't remember. Mine was chicken over bow tie pasta with a champagne white sauce. The other was Tilapia over pasta. The service was great and so was the atmosphere. I really love a good on tap wheat beer (which can be hard to find) they had one and it was great. A great place for lunch or dinner. I can highly recommend Vero Amore at Dove Mountain. read more

Food was very good. We had the Steamed clams for an appetizer, very good. Perhaps a little too much wine. The garlic toast was good. They make their own bread. Then came the salad the dressing was exceptional, but the greens were the prefab 'bag o greens'. I love good, fresh Iceberg. The pizza was great, very well done. The thing that turned me off was the manager she turned a couple away at 8:59 pm. In the service business you make exceptions to the rule. Tucson in the summer, I would want all the business I could get. They had a chance to make a customer for life and choose to get out a little early. I couldn't help but think they were probably running from some late appointment or a visit to the hospital for a sick relative. Where were they going to eat this far north? McDonalds? Too bad, some get it. Many don't. read more

Great service, amazing food, impressive selection of beer on tap, nice wine selection and gluten free pasta too! Before I found out I was gluten intolerant this was my favorite pizza place. What a relief I can still enjoy their amazing food! They have gluten free pasta available, just make sure you let them know as soon as you get there that you intend to order it because it takes a little extra time to prepare. My Dad is a big time Vero Amore fan and even he couldn't tell the difference... it was all I could do to keep him away from my food... not that there isn't more than enough to share! The portions are huge... and I mean HUGE. I think I ate my dinner for about three days. *If you are NOT allergic to gluten their baked chocolate chip cookie is to die for--- oh, how I miss it! read more

Okay all, this is not real authentic Italian. It is watered down wannabe kinda Italian. Pizza is great. Outside of that it has been poor every time we have ordered or been here. Tonight in particular I asked for the Pomodoro cooked Al dente. It arrived soupy and soggy. Apparently THEY PRECOOK THEIR PASTA! As a Sicilian, this is a HUGE error. You NEVER precook pasta because it gets soggy. The manager's response was he would make a fresh one however it would take another twenty minutes. So I guess they overcook it from scratch too! It takes 7 minutes to boil pasta and prepare the Pomodoro while it is boiling. Come on not difficult. Their menu states that everything is made to order so it takes longer and they believe the food is worth the time. Simply they are lying. Oh yeah and the chicken Cacciatore was dry as a bone. Yeah wannabe Italian cooking. read more

I love this place, I always went to the one on fort Lowell and luckily they put one in my neighborhood! I come here usually every Wednesday. Always have a few drinks at the bar and watch the game. Unfortunately, because of the public reaction to the "no yelpers" sign there has been the elite yelpers protesting out front. I added the picture of them out front. read more

If you are tired of all the easily replicated and not worth noting Italian chain restaurants in Tucson then you are in good company. Fortunately, Vero Amore is something else entirely. Mozzarella is made in house along with just about everything else making the food taste like it was made with both a sense of care and pride. I think this is some of the best pizza that Tucson has to offer. The Dove Mountain location is small but quaint and the staff have always been very friendly and helpful. Try the Quattro Formagi because any pizza featuring both gorgonzola and smoked mozzarella should leave your mouth watering and taste buds excited. I highly recommend giving this place a try. Just don't let the ghost town of a shopping complex that it is located in scare you away. read more

Food is sub-par. $23 for a salmon dish that was terrible. Salmon had tons of salt on it. It wasn't "blackened" it was just encrusted in salt. Plus the sauce didn't work with the salmon and it said it would have different ingredients in it (menu didn't match the plate). Owner wasn't very friendly. When I walked in she said "Who are you?" Unless I misheard her. Either way, food is way overpriced and the chef can't cook. read more

I used to rate them 5 stars. My cousin lives nearby, and we loved eating at Vero Amore, whenever we visited. Four people, out of six in our party, ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo. I ordered something else, andit was ok. The others immediately sensed something was missing, as it was bland as nursing home food. Some added a little parmesan cheese and a ton of salt, just to eat it. My girlfriend took a few bites and quit eating it, and we took hers home. She wouldn't eat it, so I warmed it up and tasted. YUK!!! The cook made the roux, added chicken and mushrooms, then sent it out. No Parmesan or Romano cheese, whatsoever!!! That explains why they added all that salt, as cheese would've made it unnecessary. For just the two of us, I laid out $73, including tip (loved our server) for our meal, including this tasteless plate of pasta. Sadly, we've crossed this place off of our dining list. read more

It was decent. We ordered the antipasto, which there was too much of and the meat was low quality in taste. The pizzas were bland and I just can't think of a great reason to return. I was very disappointed because I love Noble Hops and since they are owned by the same people I had high hopes for this place. read more

I came here with my 3 kids and wife while staying at the Ritz-Carlton in Dove Mountain and I my experience here was pretty average. We ordered the bruschetta and the meatballs as 2 appetizers and both were pretty average. The pizza was good, but I think they were kind of small (12 inches) so I ordered 2 for my family. It really wasn't enough for us. The crust and texture of the pizza was really good, light and fluffy. The best part was their desert, they bake a cookie in a pan and server it topped with vanilla ice cream - probably the best part of the meal. I ended up spending about 80 bucks for a family of 5 on pizza and appetizers which I thought was a bit pricy. Wait staff was awesome. read more

We love this place, everyone is so super nice awesome service. Daniel is our waiter tonight and he is great!! Kudos to you all.

Super good pizza and the salad dressings are deliciously unique. But don't eat here if you are in a hurry.

In the land of chains and strip malls, this place certainly stands out. It has a very small dining room, but I personally think its size adds to the overall charm. Live music is often present on weekends. I've taken a few out-of-town guests here and they've all been pleased. The bar features several beer and wine options to compliment any meals (my beer-snob buddy was impressed by the offerings). The pizzas contain fresh ingredients, especially the mozzarella cheese. The pasta dishes are unique and not overcooked. Again, the fresh ingredients are noticeable. I strongly recommend this place and was thrilled to pieces when Groupon featured Vero Amore. That reminds me-- I need to use that Groupon certificate! ;) read more

Great food, we had the burrata salad...like a caprese salad...it was fresh and plenty for a meal. It took a little longer but worth the wait. read more

Tucson isnt exactly somewhere i would expect to find great places to eat but i have to say Vero Amore is one of the best. I have visited on many occasions on dates with my girlfriend and with family. First off the pizza. The pizza is great! It is the perfect size with great flavors from the brick oven and moderately priced. Though i will say my favorite items on the menu are the mussels and the wood fire bread. The sause that comes with the mussels is outstanding especially with the bread. I keep the sause and use it to dunk my pizza crust in once i get to my pizza. The butter with the bread is also great! Some of the other items on the menu I am not in love with like some of the pastas. The location itself i have learned is a lot different than the swan location with great outdoor seating and actually has beer on tap. Overall, its a great local place to go especially if your up visiting the Ritz or around the Dove Mountain area. read more

Always great food and service. Living around the corner has its perks when you want to grab drinks and a bite to eat when you get off work. Definitely one of the finer restaurants in Marana. I always stop by when the Kaitlyn, the bartender is in. Nice to go somewhere where they have your drink waiting for you as you come in! Happy hour goes until 6pm. read more

Four of us went to dinner here on Saturday night. The service was incredible. Misha was our waiter and he was very attentive. By the end of the evening it felt like we were old friends. The four of us shared the antipasto appetizer, which was a perfect variety of meats, cheeses, artichoke hearts and olives. Then we shared the prosciutto caprese salad, followed by the pizza Capricciosa. My boyfriend is a die-hard Grimaldi's fan (the original in New York) and he loved the pizza. Well, we all did, but if you're a fan of New York style pizza, his opinion should count for more than the rest of ours. After the pizza we shared the special, pasta cioppino. It was shellfish in a white wine sauce over linguine and it was cooked to perfection, even the pasta. We shared two bottles of wine and took Misha's recommendation on the second, as we got the last bottle of our first choice. Both were very good. To finish the evening we decided to have warmed Grand Marnier with dessert. Misha ran next door to get the appropriate glasses and comped our dessert, a warm homemade chocolate chip cookie with ice cream on top. All in all, it was a wonderful experience and the portions were just right for four people to share one of everything and be satisfied, not stuffed. The staff was attentive and friendly, the ambience was modern and classy, and the food was over-the-top fantastic. I'm looking forward to our next evening there. read more

What more can I say this place is incredible. The pizzas are authentic Neapolitan style, the mozzarella is made in house, the pasta dishes are unique and tasty. I have not had one thing that I haven't liked. The real treat is the server at lunch. Holly is amazing and really ties it all together. I highly recommend Vero to anyone wanting a great meal at a great price. read more

Updating - I have been coming here for years as I live right down the street. What happened today; me and my family will never be back.... My dad (who is almost 60 years old) ordered $30 lunch for my mom and him, 2 salads - and upon returning home realized there was barely any chicken (2 tiny pieces) called the restaurant to complain (note: the portions have been getting smaller I don't know why I get the ravioli 3 times a week and it comes in a minuscule box for 12$ now for 7 pieces that come frozen from a diff company I had the same ones elsewhere), anyway the girl (now manager I assume Emily, dark hair, probably 25yr old) who has waited on me multiple times, actually knows my order, said to bring in the food to prove it and said my dad (60 years old) yelled at her hostess on the phone when all he did was have his speaker on and was not speaking with profanity or anything (my sister was listening to the whole thing)..... the nerve of people these days to call someone out over nothing! Upon going in she had an attitude with him as a higher up still claiming my dad ridiculed her hostess over the order on the phone... 2 teeny pieces of chicken on the 30 dollar salad, Emily decided to go show the chef and said that was how it came - my dad opted to get his money back and leave the food as it was $30 for lunch..... and still upon leaving was telling my dad that she couldn't handle his attitude and didn't need it in there. Mind you my whole family has been coming here multiple times a month since I was like 14 I'm now 23!!! And will not be back!!!!! Don't know what COVID got into people but it is disgusting behavior for higher ups to treat their older customers like that and Susanne if you're the owner, hope you take disciplinary action. I know he even said "I come in here all the time, why are you treating me like this?" Completely beyond me - lost loyal customers who basically keep this place in business. Avoid at all cost. Also the chicken wing add on is random and gross food - no clue why that was made. read more

Have been here several times with the family and our experience has been solid. Not it's not the best Italian we've ever had, but it's a great option if you live up in Dove Mountain and don't want to go to far away. I made a reservation for high tea over a week in advance and I specifically asked if I needed to put down a deposit or prepay and was explicitly told that I did not need to prepay for this service. Today, I came to Vero Amore and was told that because I didn't pay in advanced, I could not sit for high tea. I drove from San Diego to visit my pregnant sister who lives in East Tucson and planned this trip around this high tea reservation to celebrate the pregnancy. She just moved to the area so she doesn't have close friends yet, and because friends and family are so far away, she can't do a baby shower. This visit was supposed to be a surprise mini baby shower that I planned for her. We drove all the way from East Tucson for almost an hour specifically to go here and I am SO disappointed. The manager was an complete ass first of all. He went to the wrong group to apologize before he talked to us. Then he stated that they "don't have the supplies" to serve us for tea. It's just ridiculous because it's THEIR fault for not taking payment at the time of the reservation. The manager did not even offer us anything else. The place was near empty and he could've offered to seat us in the other side of the restaurant. There was no attempt to right this situation, and the apology wasn't even sincere. He was so short and rude to us, basically kicking us out. read more

We had dinner at Vero Amore last night. Very good food, great atmosphere. We started with Oven baked bread and Calamari, both were delicious. Then I had a small Cesear salad with shrimp on top, fresh greens and well prepared shrimp. My wife had a huge Cobb salad, again a very generous portion. Greens were fresh and teaming with extras. For main entre, I had the home made lasagna. My sister in law had parmigiana chicken. Both were nice portions. Service was great. Dessert was Tiramisu and an oven baked chocolate chip cookie topped with vanilla ice cream. Everything was great. Will definitely be back. Gotta try their pizza!! read more

Excellent food, excellent service. We take our two mature service dogs each time we go. Initially there was concern that they were legitimate and we were asked for certification and I explained that none was required and that there were a lot of fake certification given on the net. What is required is ADA explanation of what they do and excellent behavior of the service animal. Since the initial concern we have been welcome and are very comfortable. The dogs fit under the booth and offend no one. This restaurant reminds me of many in Europe. Nice, relaxed ambience. read more

OH! Love this place! First off, they have a very good selection of beer and wine and a great happy hour. Sitting up at the bar is fun. The staff is super friendly. Last time I sat up at the bar, the kitchen was experimenting with some new meatballs and gave us some free to try in exchange for our opinion. I seriously haven't met a food item that i don't like here! Their house bread is excellent. I wouldn't say to write home to mom about it, but they do serve it with some amazing herb butter! I also love their pizzas (my favorite is the bianca but I love white pizzas!), bruschetta, and burrata. Caution on the burrata...they do not serve enough bread with it! They have an excellent happy hour with 5 dollar house wines (and like I mentioned above, the selection is great!) and deals on their appetizers and beers. It is a small, quaint place. Very clean. If it is cool enough out, they have a beautiful patio area! This will be a place I frequent! Next time I want to try that cookie!! read more
