Amoo's has been added to our "what's for dinner?" list. I have never been disappointed, the pomegranate chicken, chicken kebabs, all the starters are fantastic. Probably the all-star is the saffron rose ice cream, legendary! It is on the pricer side so be prepared when in a large group, intimate lighting but very local. read more

I crave this place! Amoos has been around for so long but i have followed the chef of this restaurant for 20 years. Hands down the best persian food in the east coast as far as i am concerned. Family owned and operated. You can always rely on seeing Maria's beautiful face or Sebastian's passionate flare for the food. Simply lots of love has been put in this restaurant and it shows . Can not wait to go there tonight!!!! read more

Great food, nice people and good service. However, don't use the app! My past two orders were never processed. The staff said that it is better to call in order because the app does not work. read more

So we ordered dinner from here not knowing that this place is know just for its kabobs . We were not impressed we had better food from moby dick , we ordered the fesenjoon , lamb shank , mustastomseer , saladshirzi , it was not good especially the mustastomseer that was just horrible. Definitely not returning read more

Waitress was friendly, but a bit scattered. Food was outstanding! Never seen a "kabab" place with so many authentic as well as creative offerings. Family owners are present, overseeing the kitchen and dining area. The saffron ice cream is better than anything I could get from Häagen-Dazs. read more

This place is a family run restaurant but with food that tastes like it should be on the food channel. They are friendly and fast. You have to try yogurt sauce with the bread. and the lamb/Chicken kabob. Also try the beat (you get a whole beat) salad was amazing, earthy and sweet. Make sure you don't miss the saffron, rose water vanilla ice cream. read more

The service is so friendly here, you definitey feel the family love. The food is the BEST in the area for delicious fresh chicken, lamb and beef kabobs. I have yet to find another place that comes close to the quality of food from here. All of the chicken and meat are so juicy, they definitely marinate it perfectly. read more

The BEST kababs I've ever had. I have only great things to say about this place. Firstly, the people are so warm and friendly you almost feel like you've come to a friend's place for dinner. Now to the food, everything we ordered was excellent it had the right amount of seasoning and was cooked to perfection and the fancy presentation, I loved it all. I'm so glad i found this place because I'm definitely coming back. Sebastian has such a great attitude towards everyone who walks into the restaurant , he recommended what we should try and it was delish. Again, the food was amazing and we cant wait to be back. read more

Their kabobs are on point, we had the Kubideh, barg, and chicken combo. This is top notch. This has to be my favorite kabob place in Virginia.m...The owner (manager) and staff were very friendly. As arnold would say: I will be back... (or whatever it is that he says) read more

Awesome food and we enjoyed the service. We have ordered several items from the menu- it all came out - cooked to perfection and delicious. The combination platter which contained lamb, beef and chicken was just beyond delicious. This is probably one of the best Persian food I ate in a very long time. We also tried their Saffron Ice-cream, Baklava and tea. Everything tasted great and awesome. We met the owner there, he was very kind, and helpful to walked us through the menu. The place is small, but the hospitality of the owner/cook, food cook to perfection, it just unbeatable. Highly recommended, you should check out if you are into Iranian/Persian food. 5* - rated. read more

The best kabob and Persian food in DMV area!! We (party of two) decided to dine at Amoo's for dinner on a weekday but it was too close to its closing time. So we called to place the order before kitchen closes. They were so kind that they told us that they can wait until we reach to the restaurant. Although we were the only customers we were welcomed with a smile. We ordered kubideh, fasanjoon, and khask bademjun. They were well presented, super tasty and price was reasonable. Am I going back to Amoo's house of kabob?- DEFINITELY !! read more

Delicious food and wonderful service. This is a fan favorite in my house. Although I've never eaten there, their food is delicious even after the drive home. The meat is incredibly succulent! read more

I came to Amoo's with my brother, Mom, and husband after my brother and Mom raved about it. This place represents one of the few things I enjoy about the D.C. area, the true authenticity and diversity of Washington. The food was phenomenal. My favorites were the pita bread and spread that comes with the meal and the saffron ice cream, although everything was divine. The service was great. The table was clean and comfortable. I would come here everyday if my metabolism could handle it!! read more

By far the best persian restaurant around in the DC area. A must visit for all visitors to the DC metro area and locals if you love good, wholesome and tasty food read more

Really disappointing experience for a number of reasons. Shopping center is tight with minimal parking so you'll probably have to carpool if you're meeting others. Not an ideal location at all. Took us 10 minutes to be seated despite having reservations. We thought it might be busy because of a Friday night but there were only 2-3 other tables so the wait really made no sense at all because there a lot of tables. Finally seated but after waiting 20 minutes, no one even took our drink order. It seemed like there were 4-5 servers/hostesses behind the main bar but none of them even glanced in our direction. This went on for a long time. Finally asked someone if we could order but she didn't understand us and sent a server over. We asked to see a menu because we hadn't received them yet! Placed an appetizer order, which was Salad Olvieh (Persian potato salad). It looked like a can of cat food was turned upside down into a plate. Tasted mediocre at best and worst of all, had a pungent smell. Not a good sign. To make matters worse, there were two gentlemen playing live music and it made an already loud dining room even louder to the point where you couldn't hear yourself think or have a normal conversation. Unfortunately, we never got to order dinner so I can't really speak to food other than appetizer. Owner was friendly and said all the right things and based on local news and reviews he is supposed to be very talented. Unfortunately, there's a lack of management oversight and basic operational awareness. We were there a total of 40 minutes when we decided to leave. Sad thing is there was a lady waiting for a pick up order who was already at the restaurant before we first walked in and she was still waiting for her carry out order! read more

What an incredible meal. The hummus, with a spicy sauce of cilantro, jalapeño, and garlic is perfect atop the most pillowy pita this side of the atlantic. The "bottom of the pot" rice with lamb shank stew was perfectly crunchy, and the sauce was as rich as the best Mexican mole. The Caribbean jerk chicken bore only a passing resemblance to its namesake, bathed in warm Persian spices, but you won't find find me complaining. The chicken came as tender cubes that fell apart as I chewed them and were served with the most perfect grains of white and yellow rice. And don't forget about the tea! A delicious pot of tea lightly fragrant with lavender and cardamom was the perfect accompaniment to a great meal. I can't wait to come back. My only complaint is that next time, it'll be really hard to convince myself to not just order the same thing again! read more

Hands down the best Persian food I've had since I've moved to the east coast last year. My Persian fiancé and I have frequented many Persian places and while his mom's home cooking is the best, I would say this tasted pretty similar to his mom's cooking! I had the ghormeh sabzi, and the flavors were spot on with very large portions for what you pay. The pistachio saffron ice cream was also phenomenal! Glad to call this my new favorite Persian place in the DMV area read more

This is the best Persian food I've found in the DMV. And that says a lot. The family that runs this place is amazing, and they clearly care about making their customers happy. I've been a few times now, and the kabobs are amazing...but the lamb anything is ridiculously good. This place will be around for a while, and I'll be a regular. read more

Four stars for the food. Consistent, flavorful and always a hit with friends and family. We generally order takeout - but decided recently to dine at the restaurant. Three stars for the location and decor. We found the place unappealing mostly due to the mirrored wall and the bright white fluorescent lighting - the place needs a little warmth. read more

Food was excellent and customer service was on point. I ordered the Barg with half rice and half salad. The meat was juicy and perfectly cooked. Probably the best quality meat I have had in a while. Not super fanciest of places, but everything else was great and I will definitely go there again. read more

Couldn't have been any worse. Trusted the reviews but was shocked. The food tasted horrible. Was like frozen food microwaved.

Oh My God! I LOVE Amoos Kabob.. Im from Potomac, MD and moved to NYC about 8 years ago. I heard about Amoos from friends, and instead of going to Moby Dick or Yekta etc., my brother and I drove to VA to try Amoos bcs we had heard such great things. I was not disappointed what so ever! Now going to Amoos every time I come home to visit (from NY), Amoos is a 'Must' on my list. Moby dick, is a 2-min drive from my house in Potomac too adn although they are great, amoos is just something else. well worth the 30-min drive. I usually have the lamb kabob with shirin pollo - we shared mast moosir, kashk bademojoon, and all are fantastic. I dont know what they do different from other Iranian/Persian restaurants in the DMV, but its such a huge difference. I cant wait to go back next time I'm in town! Anyone who gives them less than 5 stars are either not Persian, or don't have e taste in good food. Perhaps they had a bad experience. read more

This is a magnificent Persian restaurant, we enjoyed going there so much. All menu items were delicious. Our staff person Raffael was extremely cordial, helpful and professional. The picture I've attached signifies how full of love and caring the atmosphere is - clearly the owners and employees LOVE the food too and love making it for the customers. Cannot wait to go back!! read more

Amoo's Restaurant - Persian/Iranian Near Me - McLean, Virginia

Plentiful serving of lamb, smothered in mild sauce. Fresh vegetable salad. Water or iced tea. Yuck! A little beer or wine would've been nice. Dining area filled with old, white people (retirement home nearby). Prices higher than expected. Decor dated; haven't seen a photo of The Shah since the seventies. Very clean. Parking quite limited and neighboring businesses threaten tow-away. Have met several people who have eaten there once, but didn't return. read more

2nd time ordering through the Amoo app where it looked like it went through ok but when i showed up to pickup, something was wrong. The restaurant said they'd fix the app glitches. This time I ordered a whole family meal through the app again, with confirmation and pickup time @820pm showing in the app. Showed up to pick up and told no order went thru, but they're closing soon so I'll have to order again tomorrow. Food here is great, but this is unacceptable and dissuades me from driving across town to pickup food (since the delivery option and ordering option doesn't work very well) read more

Possibly the best lamb chops I have ever had. The service is super friendly. I'm looking forward to the saffron ice cream. We came pre-dinner-time, around 4pm, and had no trouble getting a table. It's a very lovely, peaceful place this time of day. read more

Went there last night for carry out and they were packed. Place is clean and bustling. My kids liked the fake fireplace they have at the entry. I ordered the Chicken Soltani (chicken and kubideh) and the Cornish Soltani (cornish hen and kubideh). The food was cooked very well and portions enormous. Glad person taking the order suggested that I not get the half-salad, half-rice option for each of the platters bc there would have been an additional surcharge (apparently their carry-out containers give you more than if you dine in hence the extra $4-5 upcharge). That said, for carry-out, it took about 35min overall to order and pay for food. Servers were not in shortage and several tables were empty with "reserved" signs on them for my entire wait period so not sure why it took that long, as I assume it could get even busier. The fact they reserve tables that long also suggests they really care more about the dine-in experience than the carry-out one. I will make a reservation and dine-in next time. read more

A classmate of mine recommended that I try Amoo's out after discussing good places for Iranian, and I can't be more grateful. I have eaten at many kabob restaurants throughout northern Virginia, and Amoo's is handsdown, the best. The atmosphere is simple, the service is excellent (the owners are a gracious family), and the food is incredible. The only meat I wasn't entirely wowed by, but was still good, was the filet. My suggestion is to get the kubideh and either the chicken or lamb kabob. You know what? Just get all three. read more

Went here for lunch on Saturday. Just entering the place we had a good feeling. It was pretty full with all these amazing looking food. The service was fantastic, the young man told us the specials, they all sounded sooooo gooood. Granted we were also really hungry. They brought bread with a sauce which was yummy. We started with a salad called Olivieh and ordered the Koobideh with Rice and Chicken Kabob (came with rice). Both Kabobs were amazing, meat was perfect in taste and chicken was tender and juicy. My wife really knows her chicken and rated it high here. This place is no fuss-muss kinda place, don't come here expecting fancy decor or pretenses. You come here for food and the friendly service. Excellent service-The elder guy was so kind, he checked on us twice, to see if we need anything, reminded me of eating with friends and family. This place is Genuine, Home-y and Cozy with amazing food. Hope it stays that way. I will for sure be back to try the special of the day. read more

Amoo's House of Kabab, like other reviewers have said, is far more than a kabob house. My favorite restaurants are ones that combine good food and good atmosphere - Amoo's excels at both. Sebastian greeted us with unbounded enthusiasm. His passion for his restaurant is clear the moment you step in the door. I was truly amazed at the taste and presentation of every dish. My favorites were the barley chicken soup and the wolfish. I ate every drop of the soup and even joked about licking the bowl. I was apprehensive about the wolfish because I don't normally like fish but Sebastian described it with such pride that I had to try it. Eating this wolfish was only the second time in my life that I have described a fish as delicious. The flavor was incredible, the perfect balance of flavors - light and rich, citrusy and buttery. I was seriously impressed. What truly was impressive - even more than the exquisite food - was Sebastian's love for what he does. I have never seen a restauranteur with a greater desire to provide the customer with the perfect dining experience. His passion is expressed in every bite of food that comes out of that kitchen and he has made us customers for life. Thank you, Sebastian. read more

Look no further. Loved everything about this place, and I can't believe I never went before. Great food, great service and great ambiance. I had visitors in town over the weekend and I saw all the great reviews, so we decided to check it out. Started off with the sautéed eggplant- so flavorful The assortment of kebabs at the table- chicken, lamb and beef. My favorite was the lamb- it was extremely tender and perfectly spiced. I'd say it was my best lamb ever! The beef and chicken were both tender as well. Also had the Zereshk Polo, again great flavors. One of our comments was that the rice was so light. We have had saffron rice before at other restaurants, but it always seemed a bit oily. This rice was cooked perfectly. And at the end, everyone's plate was cleaned. The only disappointment was that they had just run out of the scallops, that tells me it has to be good!! But oh well just means i have an excuse to come back very soon. Our server was very friendly, attentive, and helpful in making recommendations. I was already a fan of the food, but combined with the service, I'm sold, this is a new favorite!! read more

Another delicious dinner at Amoo's. Daylight saving Sunday, lost an hour of sleep, also did taxes for 2013, and my jayezeh was Amoo! Zakieh and I go there all the way from Woodbridge and it is always worth the drive. The staff is supper and food is always delicious. I like this place. read more

Best Persian food in the DC area. I've been to several places including Shamshiry in Tyson's (which everyone raves about). Amoo's is better in every way. Table set up is not too crowded but great for a date. Sebastian and Amoo are super friendly and Amoo's lamb is so delicious you'll be missing out if you don't order it. I've had several of the dishes (Zereshk Polo, Baghali Polo, Albaloo Polo and Shirin Polo). All are excellent but the Zereshk Polo is my favorite. Just the right amount of sweet. For appetizers, the Tahdigh was great. I've also had the hummus, and while it was good, I just prefer more Greek style seasoning of it. But their homemade naan is excellent. Super friendly atmosphere, excellent food (especially the lamb), great date night spot and one of my go to's for taking visitors who like middle eastern food. read more

Let me start by saying that I bought a Groupon for this place back in May 2013. I never had a chance to visit until now, May 2015, and the loss has been all mine. And when I did finally make it, I unfortunately chose a Friday night and it was around 7:00pm. Not a good choice on my part because I didn't make a reservation. Maria was very polite and professional and sorry she could not accommodate. I was there so decided to order the food and go back home. The meal was packed well so I didn't have to reheat when I got it back home and the meal was spectacular!! I had the Chicken Soltani (combination of chicken and koobideh kabob), Hummus (with freshly made bread), Paneer Sabzi (a fresh mix of greens, basil, mint, parsley, cilantro, radish, and topped with goat feta cheese) and Baklava. Everything was so fresh, the chicken was seasoned perfectly and very tender. The koobideh's flavor was the best I've had, ever. The sauces were also the real deal. I typically don't like the Persian kabobs but this place has won me over. I can't wait to go back but for sure I will make a reservation. I cannot wait to try other things on the menu. I know I will not be disappointed. I would give it a 6, but you know the drill. Recommendation: Make a reservation. It looks like the place can accommodate parties of 8-10 without a problem (the place is not huge by any means). read more
