Simply amazing and food and quality I come every week can't get enough of it and desert it's out this world

Food is great. Ambiance could be better. Make sure you have a reservation at the busier times - it gets packed.

This unassuming little spot on Old Dominion holds a hidden gem. Don't be surprised when the owner or his son greets your table. It's standard here. Winter standout dishes are the squash bowls that will keep you fed for at least two meals. Covid take out is great and the food arrives home in good shape. If you haven't visited this spot, shame on you - go soon or you will regret it. read more

I got the vegetarian ghormeh sabzi and it was amazing. Highly recommend it if you like sour foods.

Amazing Persian food, including kabobs with spectacular bread - and an incredible super-hot green sauce! read more

I love this place. It's such good food. My wife is Persian so we eat Iranian food all the time at our house. I love coming here. I brought my parents here who are white and not exposed to Persian food at all/on a regular basis like I am and they could not believe how flavorful and wonder the food was. They loved it. The portions of the food are great and large. I love the hummus along with the homemade doogh. I always end up ordering two pitchers of it. It's not that bottled carbonated crap that all the other places sell and try to pass off as made in house. The ONLY thing crappy is the parking here. It's almost nill in terms of space. Park in areas across the street or Pizza hut and you will get towed. Be mindful of that. I've never had a bad experience here ever. For my wife and I we never seem to get out of this place under $100. That's not to say their prices are high or unjust. I'd say the average two person party would be around $50-70. read more

Since the Persian festival this Spring I have been craving the safron ice cream, so when I saw the friend talking about it, I had to have it. The owner is super friendly and the server from Burkina Faso does not get any sweeter. I did not get the interior but that is just a matter of taste. I did not like the elevator music but that is just a matter of taste. The beef kebab looked prettier then it tasted. The portions are double the expected size so make sure that you go home after the restaurant trip so you can store your leftovers. Safron ice cream was worth a trip. It was all that my Yelp friends talked about and it almost matched my safron ice cream experience at the Persian New Year. I could not be "transferred" to Iran with the meal and interior and overall feelings. Five or six large photos of Pahlavi family in the restaurant did not do it for me. I will swing by for the ice cream any time I am close by. read more

we got a take out from here and it wasn't all that great. 1) beef kubideh was SO DRY. We had hard time cutting into the meat and very chewy. 2) chicken kabob was somewhat decent but it wasn't moist at all either. Very chewy and dry meat. 3) it seemed like they forgot to put a salt in the rice because AGAIN it was DRY and saltless. 4) they did not put single utensils or napkin in the take out bag. Super inconvenient. read more

I absolutely love this place!! I always order the pomegranate lamb dish (usually a weekend special)-it is the BEST lamb I've ever had in my life because it doesn't have the texture that lamb usually has. I also get at least one veggie kabob to get my veggies in. The place is small so I highly recommend calling in for a reservation and their customer service is great as well. read more

This is my most favorite Persian restaurant within DC metropolitan area. Both food and service are great. They have several special kabob dishes that are unique to Iran and usually you don't find them anywhere else in this area. Ambiance/decoration is average but don't let that stops you from a great food experience. The quality of meat are superb and they come juicy and sizzling. They also serve awesome "Persian" tea and if you never had that, try it here. Iranians drink tea with putting sugar cubes in your mouth and sipping tea. read more

Christmas Eve 2017: Just now met Chef Sebastien today at the Redskins/Broncos tailgate. He was oh so kind and introduced himself as any other guy. Not knowing who he was whatsoever, I had a taste of his lamb and IT WAS THE BEST LAMB I HAVE EVER HAD! Curious about his recipe, Sebastien explained he owns a restaurant in McLean. If his lamb was this good, I can't wait to discover how the rest of his food tastes! My girlfriends and I will be visiting soon, especially to try out his infamous kebobs! read more

You don't find service like this anymore! The staff at Amoos is 10/10. You can feel their gratitude for your presence and it makes the whole experience that much better. Aside from service, the food is phenomenal. The lamb was my favorite and so delicious!! Hummas was also perfection. read more

Vouched for by actual Persians and my standard, boring, American white-people self alike, Amoo's is one of those restaurants that inexorably becomes a local "haunt" and even draws crowds from further afield. It is a fixture, an institution, and carries its significant number of accolades from Washingtonian, Zagat, and similar organizations without an ounce of undeservedness. Their salmon kabob with baghali polo is second to none, and almost always one of the first dishes I'll seek out from anywhere when spring hits. Their lamb soltani and cornish hen kabobs are perfect for any celebration. In cooler months, there are few things I want more than gheymeh badenjan or fesenjoon from Amoo's. Amoo's is more than just a neighborhood place, it's a cornerstone. read more

I found this business on yelp and me and my friends drove all the way to Arlington which is 20 min from D.C. The quality and the taste of the food was good but obviously not excellent , specially for a city with large Persian community. We ordered tah dig and special number 3. The online menu price for the special was 35 and for tahdig was 14. When I was at the cash register I was charged 65$ ! I called back and was informed that the prices are different at the store ??!!! . Any way I paid 40$ for a mediocre special#3 and below mediocre tah dig! And it is all YELP's fault because yelp tends to delete the honest but negative reviews when paid a certain amount of $$$..... so if you are lucky and new to the town you will read this before it is deleted ... Now read the owners answer !!! Excuses and lies !!! Go have a five star file minion anywhere else that actually is that or spend your hard earned money here .... GOD YELP ME !!! read more

Great place. Food is fantastic. Owners and staff and very friendly. Not a lot of tables, so plan your visit accordingly.

Excellent food! Service is quick and courteous. Good value. Kabobs were juicy and fresh. Babaghanouj was nice and smokey.

Absolutely amazing food and service!! This was by far the most aromatic meal I've had. I'll be raving about this place for awhile and I'll definitely be back. I loved the mirror at the back of the restaurant and the marble walls give the place a very classy touch. We started with the hummus which was served with warm bread. I swear I could have eaten baskets full of that bread.... It's super fluffy and hit the spot! I had the meatball stew and my boyfriend had the chicken kabob. The kabob was by far the most tender kabob either of us has ever had. Our server recommended the safron ice cream for dessert. It has a hint of Rose and pistachios. I'm all for new flabors of ice cream - I highly recommend it. I've never had something like that before. Super unique. I'll be back to try to lamb kabob and everything else on the menu! read more

Excellent food. Really like the salmon and chicken. But everything is good. They are so friendly.

Great kabob, it's definitely up there with Shamshiry and Alborz in the top 5 for this area. The service is fantastic and they definitely put a lot of effort in presentation which is usually a foreign concept to Persian restaurants apparently. The food always great but it's priced considerably higher than what you'd usually expect for kabob. If you've never experienced Persian food I'd highly recommend you start here first. read more

Finally, after months of mediocre meals, we've found some great food in Northern Virginia! A delicious Persian meal to nourish your mind, body & soul. We ordered hummus, cucumber salad, albaloo polo & combo #3 (koobideh, barg & saffron chicken). It was amazing! Everything was cooked to perfection. No leftovers. We ordered carry out and it was ready within 20 minutes. read more

Love Amoos! There food is delicious and service is excellent! I am a big fan of shamshiry and heard a lot of people talking about this place. I finally got to check it out and was so glad I did! The location itself is a bit secluded so it can be easily missed. The restaurant looks quite small from the outside but the dining area inside is big and spacious. I ordered the kubideh (beef kabob) which came with white rice and a grilled tomato. While waiting for the food, our server brought us warm bread with butter and green chutney. The bread was fresh and hot and very fluffy the butter and chutney melted right on there. Our food came out fairly quick and was presented very beautifully. The kabob was tender and juicy and the rice was very fluffy and delicious. We ordered doogh which I didn't like at all. For some reason, it had a bitter/sour taste. I've had doogh from Iranian and Afghan restaurants and it's never been sour which makes me believe that the yogurt might have been bad. The food portions are really big so make sure you're starving when you go. After dinner we ordered the saffron ice cream which was soooo good. It had a hint of rosewater and you could actually taste the saffron which I loved. The ice cream also had bits of pistachio in it which really enhanced the texture and taste. Will definitely come by more often. read more

Wow ... we just came here for the first time. We are vegetarians and the vegetable kabob is delicious! The rice is ver good, the veggies are grilled perfectly and the eggplant on the side was out of this world. We also had the hummus and eggplant appetizers. We will return! read more

So far the best Persian food that I've ever had in US, and just to let you know I've tried many Persian restaurants in several states. The owner and staff are super nice and they greet you so nice that you feel they know you forever. If I give them t stars I have to go back and update all of my other reviews for any other Persian restaurant. After trying their food, It'll be a must go place for me whenever I visit or go through DC area. Lamb kabob is super tender and delicious and been marinated carefully and properly. The food comes presentation is very nice and comes with some edible flowers. long story short, I tried different Kabobs here and all of them was excellent and awesome. read more

After hearing my family rave about this place for years, I finally got a chance to go! And it was definitely worth the wait. We started with an order of their hummus, which was thick and creamy, and a bit more bean-y tasting than "average" hummus. The pita was soft, warm, and yummy. For my entree, I had the Zereshk Polo with lamb (the rice is sweet and saffron-y with berries mixed in - almost a dessert!) - it was really good, but I felt like it was lacking a sauce or something that drew the rice and meat together. I did enjoy it, but I actually preferred my parents' dishes: the meatball stew (can't remember the name; it was basically a HUGE meatball and a similarly-sized potato in a dark broth) and the beef and split pea stew (I think the Gheymeh?) - both were absolutely fantastic!! We also got a side of the Tahdigh (flat "cakes" of crispy baked rice), which goes with stew - this was also delicious!! The only weird thing about the stews was the absolutely massive amount of white rice that came with each one. That seemed like such a waste. If I get the chance to go back, I'd definitely get a stew with Tahdigh! read more

Probably my favorite Persian restaurant in the area. The service is great and friendly. Everyone is very welcoming, the seating is comfortable and clean. The food is delicious, I visit regularly, mostly for lunch and I'm never disappointment. I recommend the lamb, with the chicken skewers and saffron rice, with a side of Must O Kheyar yogurt salad. Also, their portions are very generous. read more

I have been to this restaurant a couple of times and enjoyed it every time. The food is great and the staff are friendly and always helpful. Love love love this place! I live for the saffron ice cream. According to the owner, the recipe belongs to his grandmother. The ice cream is so smooth and uniquely flavored with layers of rosewater and saffron. It is simply beautiful! I've always liked all of the appetizers we get, particularly the eggplant dip and the garlic yogurt. Again very uniquely and deeply flavored that goes perfectly with the warm Persian flat bread. I've tried two different stews there-the pumpkin stew and beef tomato stew atop the crispy rice. Both were good though I have to recommend the beef tomato stew. The owner is really personable and hospitable and makes thoughtful recommendations. He makes a sincere effort to take care of his guests as if you're a guest in his home. We are quickly becoming one of their many regulars! read more

I almost don't want to write this review because this unassuming little place is so good that I want to keep it secret! I put of going there for years then went with my hb and the place was so busy with line out the door -on wkend-we had to leave that night. We have since returned several times and each time has been a pleasant surprise --everything is excellent so don't hesitate but keep in mind a plan B in case it is full up...or make reservations. Beautiful plating, delicious (my hb ordered chicken I had lamb), interesting appetizers, good wine & nice selections of excellent desserts -- enjoy, bon appétit... read more

One of the best kubideh I ever ate! My friend recommended me this place and he's an endomorph so he knows how to eat! I'm extremely happy I listened and decided to try it out. I also ordered The Cornish Hen,, which came out very juicy and tender! I was so full after the meal, I ordered another kubideh to go because I'm a true fatty. ++++++ Customer service was the best I ever seen at a mom and pop shop. The owner Amoo came up to us personally and gave us a very genuine and warm greeting! I was very impressed with the attentive service and yummy food. I will be back for sure and my belly is all smiles! 2 thumbs up to this great establishment. read more

The service there is excellent. The food, including the appetizers and sides are divine. I order the meat combo platters when I go,and I cant say enough about the taste. You can split the chicken easily with a fork or even spoon which you cant do at other places so easily. The ground beef, very flavorful, and the tenderloin tastes great (can be dry at times). The bread is also very good when hot but I wish they gave you the yogurt for dipping the bread as I do that whenever I eat kabobs. I believe you have to order that separately, but no biggie because the taste is divine, one of the best and cleanest tasting yogurt/cucumber sauces I've tasted. read more
