Finally have found great Italian place here in Phoenix! I've seen tons of people post about this place on our local Facebook pg and my husband and I finally tried it tonight. Ordered the smoked salmon linguini and the tiramisu and they were both delicious. Loved the family owned vibe of the restaurant too. The only two things that I wish were there was an area to sit while waiting for a table (a bench where the olive tree is would be perfect) and table bread! Would've made the place perfect! I would describe the atmosphere as boutique, upscale and intimate. I was also able to revise some menu items in order to make vegan, which was great. To American Way: I love the tree that you have near the host's stand. I kept visualizing another identical one (or two), bamboo or the sort in the blank floor area. In town for a work conference and tired of hotel food. We decided to look for options and found American Way Pasta. We were able to get a reservation for our party of five and so happy we did. The experience was amazing. The staff were helpful and attentive, the location has an intimate bistro feel and the food is five stars. The stand out dishes of the night came from the special menu; seared sea scallops with pea puree and spicy lobster spaghetti. Strongly recommend a visit if you're in the area. read more

We tried this restaurant after I saw the article that it was new. It's a small restaurant in a strip mall near a Safeway, but the decor is very nice. Our waitress Nora was very nice and waited on us. I had the Lychee martini and it was delicious my partner had an old fashioned and he liked it as well our other friend had the Pino Grigio and she liked it as well, we all did salads 3 Caesar and one house all were very tasty. We ordered dinner and we all had something different, salmon linguini, seafood risotto, chicken rigatoni and it had the Caicio E Pepe made table side and it was delicious. This is a nice restaurant for a date night. We went and opted to sit at the bar. The pasta was delicious. I got the bolognese and my friend got the Cacio e Pepe that was prepared in a cheese wheel. The calamari and shrimp were well seasoned and really good. The server/bartender was ok. I could not tell if he was nervous or what but he didn't speak much and did not really engage with us. Beyond thrilled with my experience at American Way Pasta! Staff is so kind, friendly and attentive. Service was amazing. Food is TO DIE FOR! Ordered the Burrata bruschetta for an appetizer, it had SO much flavor!!! I decided on the Cacio e Pepe for my entree, because who doesn't want their fresh pasta tossed around inside a giant wheel of cheese!? It was DELICIOUS!!! Couldn't forget the tiramisu for dessert, of course. You guys. YOU GUYS... I've never had a more perfectly assembled tiramisu. Not overly drenched in espresso, not so much cocoa powder that you inhale it, choke and die, it was PERFECT. Such a cute spot, too! We came tonight for our daughter's 12th birthday. Such a sweet hostess. Our waiter, Leo, was incredible! He came with great energy and was very helpful and patient. Our son, Leo was pretty excited to meet another Leo for the first time. Shrimp/Calimari appetizer was delish, passion fruit mojitos were potent, but not too much. Our dinners were sublime. The seafood pasta, dish prepared inside Parmesan wheel, rigatoni with sausage and even the macaroni and cheese were all really superb! Tonight was our first time trying this restaurant. The restaurant is small. It has a nice ambiance and vibe. Their drink menu is very small and the bar is limited on what drinks can be made. I originally ordered an amaretto sour but was told they couldn't make that. I then ordered a whiskey sour and was told they could make it but without the egg whites. Therefore, I settled for an old fashion which wasn't bad. I did have a sip of my cousins tequila sour which tasted good. We started with an order of Fried Shrimp and Calamari which was perfectly cooked and very good. Both of us ordered the Cacio e Pepe with a side of shrimp for the main course. It was about an hour and a half before we got our main course. In my opinion, this was more the waiters fault than the kitchen. Anyway, The Cacio e Pepe was served table side which was a nice touch. However, the Cacio e Pepe was barely warm. It had a good taste but the temperature of the food was a total turn off and extremely disappointing. We ended up taken most of it home to eat hot another time. The manager did come to the table and apologize for the long wait. He informed us there was a problem in the kitchen and our food order and several others were lost. He asked how our dinner was. We informed him the Cacio e Pepe had a good taste but it was barely warm. He apologized and said it's difficult to make that dish and serve it hot. He did comp us a desert of our choice to make up for the long wait time and being disappointed in food temp. We ended up getting the Sticky toffee pudding which was excellent. Actually, that was best part of the meal. Overall, we were very disappointed on this visit. We will probably give it one more try but order something different. read more

No bread, bread sticks were offered or available. Pretty simple menu with some non-traditional dishes. Fettuccini Bolognese made with "American style meat sauce and homemade cheddar sauce" - what is that?? We asked for a few minutes. My wife ordered the house salad and Carbonara and asked for no truffle oil, and easy on the pepper. I ordered the Caesar salad and asked if the dressing was made in house - I was told that it was made in house. The salads arrived, good portions - almost enough to split for 2 people. My wife said that the salad was very peppery and ended up not finishing her salad. The Caesar was disappointing...needed more flavor (garlic, anchovy, lemon)...very bland almost like just a mayonnaise dressing - not impressed. Carbonara was brought the table. The server asked who requested no truffle oil and easy pepper and proceeded pass my wife's plate to her. I ordered the Carbonara but no changes. My wife and I both commented and agreed that the pasta was very heavily peppered! I like spicy food and pepper, but this was too much. It was as if we were served the Cacio e Pepe! All in all, pretty disappointing. Nice place, good crowd, good service but way too much pepper. We'll wait a while until we go back and see what other say about their experiences. read more

As someone who grew up just five minutes away from this new restaurant , it's exciting to see a place like American Way Pasta open in the neighborhood. We recently celebrated my oldest daughter's 13th birthday here, and it was a great choice. The service was excellent, and the food was fantastic. The food was good and they have done a nice job of decorating the restaurant. We had the bruschetta with the Burrata, which was delicious. The service was just OK. Our server was very nice, but after our meals were delivered, we ended up sitting with empty plates, empty wine glasses, and no one had ever checked on us. The restaurant was fairly empty as well, so we weren't sure what the issue was . We would have liked to have ordered another glass of wine and maybe dessert but we changed our minds after having not seen the server for so long. The biggest issue, though, and the reason we ultimately ended up leaving, was the seating is terrible! The tables and chairs look like they were bought off the Walmart discount rack. And even that would've been OK if they weren't so hard, wobbly and uncomfortable. My husband sat in the bench seating which has hard cushions that do nothing to make up for the very uncomfortable bench. The back of the bench doesn't go up high enough so you can't lean back because it digs into your back. The tables are way too small to seat four comfortably, and some of the tables were set up with five chairs, which would be a very tight and unpleasant experience. Seating tells you a lot about how the restaurant thinks about their customers. Do they want you to be comfortable? To sit and order more wine and maybe more food and get to know the staff? If so, the seating will be comfortable. If a restaurants seating is uncomfortable what they're trying to tell you is that they view you as a commodity, they just want you to eat your food and move along so they can sit the next table. That's the vibe American Way Pasta gives off. read more

Was visiting family in Ahwatukee and we stopped here because they suggested it as a new place. I've historically found the restaurants in the area a bit limited so I was surprised by the thoughtful decor and service elements like the food trolleys--they're going beyond the basics for sure. It looks like a place that was designed for Instagram posts. The food was also very good with a nice snap to the pasta and good balance of acidity in the cherry tomato sauce. Prices were reasonable all things considered. My one feedback would be that the furniture was uncomfortable and too budget oriented / flimsy for a business. However I think that they're clearly going for aesthetics as a priority while keeping the price point reasonable for the area. Second time visiting American Way Pasta. It won't be our last! Quickly becoming our family's favorite in Ahwatukee. Everyone is so welcoming and warm. The dishes are all flavorful and our daughter, who is a pasta aficionado has loved her pasta, the latest one being the caccio e pepe with the chef proudly serving with a smile table side.
