We are Asian couple and when we went to this restaurant for lunch, even though the restaurant was empty except 3 people being seated in 1 table, the hostess took us in very back of the restaurant table next to the bathroom. I heard such a treat being done to certain people, and we felt very awkward passing all the empty tables ended up in such a place. Sooooo good! I'm impressed and so happy that it's in Ahwatukee. We ended up here when Sicilian Butcher had too long of a wait. They make their pasta fresh every morning. Their cocktails are all crafted to perfection. Our favorite was the passion fruit mojito- fresh passion fruit and mint leaves. There are so many nice things to say about the restaurant so I will start there. It has a charming ambiance with adorable cafe tables and interesting art on the walls. It is very clean. The bartender, we sat at the bar, was very nice and my Aperol Spritz was refreshing. We had the calamari and bruschetta. The bruschetta, which is two pieces per order, was very tasty. We were there to try to Cacio Pepe in the cheese wheel. My friend, who lives here in Phoenix, was so excited after seeing it on Instagram and hearing people rave about it. Unfortunately, that was inedible and awful. The pasta, which they said was handmade, was cold and watching her try to get it to melt cheese in the cheese wheel was painful. I have seen this presentation before and knew it was not going well but patiently waited for it to be served. My friend had such high expectations and we were both shocked at how bad it was. The pasta wasn't just al dente, it was inconsistently cooked so some was mushy and other parts were almost crunchy and it was cold. Not even Luke warm- cold. After one bite she asked the girl if their version was supposed to be served chilled. Her response "No, it should be served hot." and my friend responded nicely "Oh because ours is quite cold." She nodded and walked away. When neither of us ate any more of it she did not ask if it was ok nor did she inquire why neither of us had eaten any of the dish we clearly ordered for dinner. She just whipped out her charge card machine that has pre-set tips starting at 20%. I do not blame the chef for this issue. I think the staff needs to be trained on how to execute this special dish if they are going to serve it. But for now I doubt we will be back which is a shame because it is a lovely little spot. read more

Ridiculous system for a restaurant. I called 2 days prior to my gfs bday to get a reservation. The woman on the phone stated they don't do reservations. Fast forward to tonight, we came late to try to snag a spot. As we are walking in I saw two bar seats open and asked if we could sit there; the hostess stated that she "just promised someone that bar seat over the phone, and the waiting list is full for the night". Came across a thirst trap Tik-Tok of this place and it looked incredible. My husband and I checked it out on a date night and I hate to say I walked away very underwhelmed. They don't take reservations after 5pm but the wait wasn't terrible for a Friday night (told 40-50 mins, ready in about 25). The bruschetta was delicious. The main course was good but not incredible knock your socks off. We got the rigatoni Italian sausage and then rigatoni chicken. Definitely could tell it's a newer restaurant as the drinks/service was slow and unfortunately full of errors. Not serving diet soda and only serving zero products also was an interesting choice. Overall, quite disappointing and I'm bummed that it turned out mediocre. read more

The ambiance is very nice and cozy, and the staff were very nice. Prices were good. My son and I both ordered the table side pasta in the cheese wheel. I suppose I should have anticipated it as cheese is salty, but it was WAY too salty for my taste. Neither my son or I enjoyed it. This place is going on our frequent visit list! We went in for lunch and had two great pasta dishes. One was a chicken rigatoni with mushrooms in a beautiful cream sauce. The other was incredible chicken pesto fettuccine as a lunch special so included was a cappuccino (choice of coffee/tea) and even a little dessert! All the right proportions and all delicious. Epic fail on several levels, however I always like to start with the positive. Upon arrival we were seated promptly as we had a reservation. The carpaccio was excellent. That is where the positive ends. It took over 15 minutes to get my cocktail and then they were wrong. I took the cocktail back to the bartender because I could not find the server. The bartender is extremely slow and took quite some time to acknowledge that i was even standing there. (This is not my first time at this establishment, and I observed the same behavior slow service from him to other customers). We ordered three different pasta dishes. One dish ordered was the cacio e pepe in the pecorino cheese wheel. We inquired if this dish can be made with out truffle. This was a test and they failed on it miserably. They did not ask if this was preference or an allergy. They said yes, it can be prepared without truffle. When served it was tossed table side....... in the same cheese wheel that all the other truffle containing pastas have been prepared throughout the past days. The pasta was pereiated with truffle flavor! Good thing none of us had an allergy to truffle. I know how expensive these cheese wheels are, so was not expecting a separate one for those individuals that do not care for truffle. Thye answer should have been, yes, we can prepare the cacio e pepe, but not in the cheese wheel for obvious reasons described. All three pasta dishes were served barely lukewarm after stating that we like our pasta and entrees very very hot. Another misstep. while preparing the cacio e pepe table side, the chef recommended, showcased, and bragged about his tiramisu and that we should give it a try. We took his recommendation. Upon finishing our meal, which we really did not because of said issues, we asked the server for a tiramisu for the table. It was 9:05pm and the server responded by saying, sorry, but the kitchen is closed......really? It did not occur to the server to inform tables that the kitchen would be closing at 9 in case they would like anything else from the kitchen. after going back to the kitchen to check with the chef, it was brought to the table. The tiramisu was extremely dry and very disappointing. We all thought they forgot to soak or inappropriately soaked the ladyfingers in the espresso etc. We really like tiramisu and order it at other restaurants for comparison. This one paled in comparison to others. There were 3 other tables on customers enjoying coffee, wine, cocktails, last of their meals and chatting enjoying Friday night during the holidays. At 9:18 we were all asked to leave the restaurant because it was closed.......what???? Really? It was a Friday night! There were tables that did not even finish their beverages etc. That was the topper to whole terrible experience. This was an epic fail. We really want to support local family owned restaurants in the neighborhood, but with experiences like these, it will be a very long time before we go back, or ever. read more

Can't say enough about this place! 4 of us came for dinner and the staff was so nice and helpful. The decor is smart bistro and warm and welcoming. We all had pCaesar salad to start ( real handmade Caesar dressing) and the Cacio di pepe. Pasta was incredible! Tossed at the table, it was creamy and cheesy, and delicious. It was a great atmosphere. The food was good but not wonderful the way friends had implied. The one thing our waiter failed to tell me and the menu did not indicate was that the ice tea was not free refills so I was charged for each time I asked for more. I did understand that to be the case when he brought my husband's Spite in a can and poured it at the table but not ice tea. Situated in a strip mall, this place is easy to miss. However, the inside is cozy and warm. I went between lunch and dinner, and it was perfect. They were only a couple tables taken. I ordered a glass of wine and pasta. I didn't have to wait on. The pasta was fantastic. I ate the whole bowl. Plus the bread that they brought with the pasta. Perfect! The server was great. He checked in on me, but game me time to enjoy my meal. There are apparently some lunch specials, and an early happy hour. I will be partaking in both, and bringing along friends! read more

Have to be honest I wasn't overly impressed. Pasta was undercooked and watery The Lychee martini was syrupy and for $15 in my opinion overpriced They couldn't even make a lemon drop martini. (If the drink isn't in their drink list they won't/can't) Make it. Even though they have a full bar. I like the concept, but the execution needs help. Tables felt cheap and lightweight (like they're from IKEA). Both the food and service at this Italian restaurant were excellent- A+. The specialty cocktails like margaritas and Mojitos were top notch. The decor is very classy and attractive.
