We used this company to service a warranty on our pentair equipment and were really happy with how prompt and helpful they were with that. We liked them so much we really wanted to take them on as our regular pool service for weekly cleanings BUT they are much more expensive than most companies, a good $70+ more per month. Our current pool company does a good job so we'll be staying with them for now but we will continue to use this company as needed for repairs and warranty on our equipment. read more

For reasons I didn't understand initially, our pool water turned dark green. Dark. Green. Nothing I bought and dumped in so much as made is less dark green. Not knowing any pool people, I searched and read these reviews. So after a voice mail or two and a phone conversation, Thomas told me he'd be out to look things over and I didn't need to be home. Perfect. A couple of days later, Thomas looked at the pool and explained how he'd like to tackle this problem, which all made sense. After I told him to go ahead, we only ever exchanged emails and phone calls for the next week. What he found were issues with my sand filter system (which I kind of suspected from the day we moved into the house) and he recommended replacing it with a DE filter and an in-line chlorinator. Plus some serious water treatment to clear things up. I braced for impact about the price, but was really happy to know the whole thing, soup to nuts, would only cost about $1,700. Including labor. It seemed strange, but not long after my request, I received a quote in my email and I told him to go ahead. Four days later, he completed the installation and removed my old system. A few days afterwards, his work paid off and my pool went from a hole in my yard containing disgusting nastiness to a pristine, crystal clear pool. Total. Transformation. Children swam in it two days afterwards. The only time we met in-person was a Friday evening at about 6:00 when I got home from work, and Thomas arrived to check on things and give me the once-over on the new system. Here's the best part: He proved himself to be absolutely trustworthy. Thomas did all of this work without asking for a dime up front. I was never in a position to have to cut a check, then hope he delivered. It was only after he took on all the expense and risk himself -- then actually made everything awesome -- did he ask for payment. That, my friends, is rare indeed. read more

We had an issue with one of our pumps, and with some diligent work from Thomas and one of his workers they were able to get it back up and going. They only charged me for a fraction of the hours they used to fix the pump, and it's been running great since. I had used ASAP on a couple of other occasions for various maintenance over the years. Recently, I needed to get my hot tub worked on - new light and the heater was malfunctioning. They sent someone to look at it and quoted me almost $1100. They also billed me over $200 for the diagnostic. I called to schedule the work and asked if the diagnostic fee would be rolled into the work order, which it was not. I canceled the job and called another pool company. They came out, diagnosed the issue at no charge, fixed the hot tub heater at no charge (they said the ASAP diagnostic was wrong and there was just a simple issue he fixed for no charge), and he replaced the entire light system for $400. So by them inflating the cost on the quote, misdiagnosing the issue, then not rolling the diagnostic fee into the work which caused me to cancel the job, I saved $500 even after paying their inflated diagnostic fee. I strongly recommend checking other Austin/Bee Cave pool companies. They will do the same work at a fraction of the cost, and they will not gouge you on diagnostic fees. read more

We recently purchased a house whose owners used American Spa and Pool and said they did great work. They were great in terms of showing and up cleaning the pool. However, after they identified a needed repair, the level of service and quality of the fix went downhill. After the repair our pool would no longer turn off. For 5 days, repeated calls were not answered and messages were not returned. They finally returned the call and came out to do fix their repair. They were rude when making the fix. After leaving, our spa is no longer working. Great at the simple stuff. Terrible if you need to get in contact with them or if they need to do anything more than a simple cleaning. I have used American Spa and pool since 2015 and had good experience with them and wrote them a 5 star review on yelp as well. I had to revise my review to remove 4 stars due to a very unpleasant experience. My pool lost prime (while everything else is working properly including my pool pump) and I called A.S.A.P as usual and they came out and said my check valve is bad and is the cause of my problem, they replaced the check valve but the next day, it lost prime again. I called them back and they came out and said some part within my pump needs replacing and it will cost around $300, I approved the repair as well. Upon taking apart my pool pump, they said pool pump is beyond repair and they can't even put it back together and I must purchase a new pump, I again agreed to their diagnostic and proceed with a new pump replacement. A few days after they replaced the pump, my pool continues to lose prime and owner Thomas came to check out my pump a couple of times and said he couldn't figure out what the issue might be. The 3rd time, they said another check valve (behind my pump) is bad and should be replaced and after they replaced this check valve, the original issue finally resolved. I received an invoice from them for all the check valves replacement (parts and labor) along with a few trip charges and pool pump replacement (parts and labor). Even tho I felt like I was being overcharged for a new pool pump and another set of check valve (I have had good experience with Thomas in the past, and thought the issue was due to mis-diagnostic), I reached out to American Spa And Pool and ask them to remove all labor charges and trip charges, and keeps the final check valve charges along with all the parts they use (including the pool pumps), I thought my offer is more than fair, but they refused to remove all of the labor/trip charges. After a few back and forth, it was only $95 (a trip charge) different between our dispute and I think I should stand my ground as I am paying $1500 worth of unnecessary repair (not to mention my new pump although fixed the issue of lossing prime.. it is also defective as it turn on and off randomly throughout the day and can't even be controlled via my control panel). Thomas called me today asking for the payment and I told him that as soon as they remove that $95 from the invoice, I will make payment in full the very same day as I have said I would do since receiving the invoice. He started yelling at me over the phone calling me names and said how bad 2020 is for him. I told him, I have been more than fair to him and his wife and has been consistent about paying him. I finally received the adjusted invoice $1435.44 and as promised, I made the payment within 2hours. Frankly.. I wasn't planning to revise my yelp review as I value the small local business. After the call with owner - Thomas and being called all kind of names... I'm not so sure. Very disappointing! read more

My pool pump worn out after 13 years of service. I want to replace it with a variable speed pump for energy saving. I called several pool repair/maintenance shops to ask questions and quotes. Thomas was very responsive, he dropped by the next day, checked out my existing system. He then called several times to explain to me in details how to make variable speed pump works with my old control system. When I found an online store that sells variable speed pump at a good price, he told me to get it from the online store instead of him since his price can't beat the online store. So I bought one from the online store, and Thomas helped me swapped out the old pump. He helped me programmed the pump, and it is running great using a fraction of energy than the old one.
