I live in Boston so did this over the phone with the dealer. On June 5, 2026, 2 1/2 hours into my sons drive to Los Angeles, CA from Stockton, CA the engine started making noises and the car engine abruptly shut down. After finding a tow company to get the car and having it looked at, $185 later we were told the engine was seized. I called the dealer and he told me that my son test drove the car and that his "fast driving" probably caused it. Really??? There was no indication of/or issues prior my son said until this happened. He was on the highway driving when the engine seized, there is no reason doing the speed limit or even slightly over in a car we had for just over 3 months should have had engine problems. The dealer said the car was sold "as is" and he wasn't responsible for anything. I don't care what the "as is" rule is, who does this to a consumer?? I believe Samir was the name of the associate that helped me out, I told him what car I was here to see and he got the keys, pulled the car out, and then totally stepped back to give me my space to do my all around inspection of the car. On 11/19 Ali texted me requesting that I send him $134 via Cash App, Venmo, or Apple Pay for registration fees. (Mind you, I paid for my car in May. My car was registered in August. It is now November. Therefore, it seems like he is mad about the negative Yelp review and is attempting to retaliate against me.) Nonetheless, what Ali is attempting to do is UNPROFESSIONAL and ILLEGAL. First an foremost, the appropriate and professional way to request money from a customer is via an itemized invoice. NOT through a text message. Additionally, any charges should be accepted via a legit method (i.e. cash, credit, check, or money order -- not through a Peer-to-Peer payment app!) Secondly, and most importantly, American Motor's/Ali's attempt to collect the difference in registration fees is in my opinion, ILLEGAL. Here's why: The difference in registration fees was caused by a DMV late fee. The late fee was accrued through untimely submission of fees and documents by the dealer. When I purchased the car in May, the May 2020 tags were either already expired or were about to expire. American Motors SHOULD HAVE submitted the DMV registration paperwork immediately to avoid fees/penalties, but they didn't. Instead they waited until AUGUST to register my car. Now they are attempting to pass down the fee penalty to me. Below are the following laws that I believe American Motors has broken: Per Cal. Veh. Code §4456 (a)(2) "If the vehicle is used, the dealership has 30 days from the date of the sale to submit the registration application, which must be accompanied by all fees and penalties due for registration or transfer of registration. Penalties due for noncompliance are to be paid by the dealership, and THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT CHARGE THE PURCHASER FOR THE PENALTIES." Per Cal. Veh. Code § 5753(c)(1). "The dealership must turn over the title to the vehicle no later than 15 business days after the dealership has received full payment for the vehicle. The payment can be made by the buyer or the buyer's bank. The dealership must mail, transfer, or deliver the title to the buyer who is lawfully entitled to transfer of ownership." Per Cal. Veh. Code §2982 (a)(2) "Dealers and lessor-retailers are responsible for itemizing and collecting the proper fee amounts from the buyer and dispersing the fees to the proper agency....Buyers may be charged all fees due to DMV, including fees for duplicates/substitutes and fees/penalties that accrued prior to the vehicle entering the dealer inventory, UNLESS THOSE FEES/PENALTIES ACCRUED THROUGH UNTIMELY SUBMISSION OF FEES AND/OR DOCUMENTS BY THE DEALER." That being said, now that Ali is requeting $134 from me, I have opened up yet another BBB complaint, and have reported American Motors to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) (for attempting to collect on a debt that is not legally owed to them), the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA), and to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Furthermore, I have contacted a lawyer who has stated, "You are responsible to pay the amount required to renew or transfer the registration. Worst experience ever DO NOT BUY from these people Ali is a con purchased a vehicle Audi Q5 in March 2020 two weeks exactly it started to leak oil. Called Ali had me take it to his mechanic his own mechanic told me the car had turbo issues and was burning oil. I let Ali know this and all he had to say it is a used car. Which I agree that sometimes you buy a car with the dealer not knowing what is all wrong. But in this case the oil leak had to have been known and the fact that the car was burning engine oil is also something he had to of known about. Long story short the car is now non operable. I did most of my car buying research online, before I ever arrived at the dealership. I knew I wanted a Fiat and American Motors had two at reasonable prices. My emails were answered in a timely manner, my questions answered to my satisfaction. I arrived at the dealership thinking I wanted the yellow Fiat. (It's really cute and has a sun roof.) A picture of my driver's license was taken and the keys given for an immediate test drive, alone! Who does that in this day and age? It felt nice to be trusted by a stranger. These guys were very kind, considerate and helpful. While waiting for paperwork to go through, I returned home but could not get the green Fiat out of my mind. The next morning, I offered a cash price, on the green car, it was politely declined. Their prices are fair and so rock-bottom, I don't blame them for not coming down on the price but I had to ask. So, I went back and purchased the green Fiat for cash. My car was washed and prepped while I waited for the paperwork to be finished. These guys are great! Social distancing and the customer's comfort are a priority here. It's a small place, but if you are looking for a great car at a fair price - check these folks first. I wanted to Yelp about my experience with American Motors. I purchased an SUV cash with all fees included or so I thought... First, I purchased the SUV on August 22, 2020 and today is November 10, 2020. I have not received my vehicle registration or tags. I am driving around with expired tags or it seems so. I had to call several times about my car registration, they washed their hands of this and just said "call Carmen our DMV liaison." I called Carmen on October 16, 2020 and my car after 2 months had NOT been registered yet. I felt as if this was outrageous and extremely unprofessional. I received confirmation October 28, 2020 that my car was registered however I still do not have my registration documents or tags. Then, I received a text message today from American Motors charging me the difference for the (DMV registration fees). I have purchased cars in the past and have never been charged the difference. I bought this car cash with all fees included. I told them I was not going to pay the difference, we agreed on a price and I paid my fees completely. Was looking at a 2005 PT Cruiser they have for sale at a good price. I took it to a shop down the street for inspection before buying and they found loads of problems. The shop wiped down the engine with armor all to hide the fact that the oil is badly leaking. They unplugged the battery to reset the computer so the check engine light wouldn't be on. Problems would've costed several thousand to fix, and the car would've broken down very shortly after purchase if those issues weren't taken care of. A huge waste of time and money. These guys will smile, shake your hand, and lie to your face. But from somewhere else, or at least get any car you buy from them professionally inspected before. read more

WORST DEALERSHIP EVER! This guy literally tried selling us a broken car! He showed us the 2012 teal Ford Focus we wanted and told us it had just been inspected thoroughly and it was in perfect condition but the transmission makes a funny noise sometimes but his mechanic said it was perfectly normal for that model. We took it for a test drive and had it inspected by a mechanic down the street and turns out the transmission was completely done for! We then went back and showed him the error message in the vehicle dashboard coming from it's own computer and he decided to lie to us and change his story stating he knew it was messed up! I told him there's no way it's legal he could sell me a car that isn't going to make it home and he started yelling at me saying that he could and that other people have done the exact same thing we just did and we're quoted way higher than $3,000 for a new transmission! I still tried to make an offer asking him to deduct atleast 2/3rds or at least half of the cost of replacing it with a used transmission which would've been $1,500 discount and he argued that he would only discount $200! The large middle eastern man was literally spitting in my face and arguing with me! We saw other cars after that one and we notice another for focus in his lot had a broken A/C and wanted to let him know about it, and he angrily yelled at us saying no it wasn't and we don't know anything about cars! Definitely steer clear of this place this guy is literally going to try and rip you off! He will lie through his teeth to try and sell you a broken car! My car buying experience was great at American Motors. Ali was extremely helpful and the whole process couldn't have been easier. I found the car online and decided to come by to check it out. I usually stay away from smaller dealerships, but I'm glad I didn't this time. The car was in amazing shape, the interior was spotless, the engine bay was so clean, and everything checked all the boxes I was looking for in a commuter car. I knew I wanted a diesel, and Ali informed me that with the huge diesel scandal, a lot of cars got recalled and have a 4 year 45k mile warranty. I looked this up, searched the VIN on Audi's website, and confirmed this was all correct. There was never any pressure into buying a car, I never felt rushed, and Ali even held the car for me with a deposit because I was closing on my house and needed some time before returning. I loved this place and had a really good experience. I came to test drive the vehicle. They gave me the keys and I drove around the block. I wanted to test drive another vehicle, same process. I also like that they didn't ride in the car with me so that I can really do my own assessment without someone else in my ear. I decided that I wanted the car, there were a couple things that needed to be fixed, such as the door panel and the rear brake light being out. I was looking for a car for my teenage daughter. I found a VW Beetle, the perfect first car for her, at a reasonable price and extremely clean. I was leery about the purchase because of an experience at one of the major dealerships trying to buy a different used car. This major dealership listed the price in the AutoTrader (a reasonable price), but they added nitrogen to the tires, added a GPS theft recovery system, and a paint protection film. All of their add-on's added an extra $3500 to the advertised price. American Motors did none of these deceptive tactics. The price advertised in the AutoTrader was a fair Blue Book price and the price that they sold the car to me. There was no high pressure, no underhanded/deceptive sales tactics. I just drove my new-to-me Fiat 500e home from this small used car dealer. I had been looking for this car for months knowing my lease was ending. The original asking price for the mileage was a superb deal. I drove into Fullerton from San Diego to see it. Ali gave me a break on the price, was willing to work for financing at a payment I could afford. The car was immaculate and so was every other car on the lot.
