Monday special

Sometimes your expectations far out weigh reality... On some very strong recommendations my family decided to give Ambridge Italian Villa a try for dinner. We got there around dinner time and found a seat quickly in the limited seating dining room. After perusing the large menu we made some choices and waited. Waiting seemed to be the word of the night because we, along with every other patron that night were constantly waiting for someone to serve us or help. I always try to be patient when dealing with any business but this night the service was by far the slowest and least attentive I have ever seen. After waiting for over 20 minutes for water and another agonizing 15 minutes for someone to take our order my patience was wearing very thin. Our orders were finally placed and in the time before we finally got our food we had time to observe the operations as well as the other guests. There were only 2 other tables occupied and both tables seemed displeased with their service or lack of service as well, I even heard a few complaints from people picking up take away. Once our food finally showed up I was even less enthused. Spaghetti and meatballs were not very good, the pasta was over cooked and the sauce was very plain. As we ate we noticed nobody was bussing any of the empty tables at this point and we saw people come in to just turn around because they could not find a clean table. Overall we were very disappointed since this place came highly rated by some relatives of ours. Food was bland and not prepared well, service was absolutely atrocious and prices did not reflect the quality you got. Next time I get a recommendation, I'll have to do some more research on my own, Aloha

Dare I say this mom-and-pop Greek/Italian shop is among the best Beaver County has to offer!? We decided to sample a little bit of everything on the menu. The prices are right and the portions are decent. I chose the Pittsuburgh Burger, giving me the opportunity to try both their traditional burger and their gyro meat and homemade tzatziki sauce. Needless to say, everything was big on flavor and I'll definitely be returning to try out their traditional gyro soon! If good food and good prices aren't enough of a reason to rate a place with five stars, throwing awesome customer service in will certainly seal the deal! I actually found this location using Yelp! and chose to order online via EatStreet. I arrived 15 minuets later, as they were just finishing my order. As they were packaging my food, the friendly server brought out my order of breadsticks to ask if they were to dark. Before I could answer, she apologized, stating that they were going to redo the order since they were not at the level of quality that they would like. I was more then happy to wait an extra 5 min and was ecstatic with how they were able to ward off a bad review by being upfront and honest, using quality communication and a willingness to correct a mistake in lieu of ignoring it! Way to go guys!

I'm sure it's great but all my family gets from there are gyros and they enjoy them. I'm personally not a fan of gyros

If you are going to order the Pasta Mill, I recommend the cheese Tortellini covered in pink sauce with shrimp. It is fantastic!!

Am looking forward to being back! My server was Tolia (sorry if I'm misspelling/misremembering) and she did an AMAZING job. She was super friendly, made awesome menu recommendations and was a delight to chat to. She recommended I start with the char grilled octopus and this was delicious. It came with capers and a grilled lemon and olive oil and was beautifully presented. The potion was easily finished by just me, so if you have more than 2 people I'd recommend getting more than 1 order of these. It's so delicious. I was then picking between the pastitsio and the moussaka. I was told they both have a strong nutmeg flavor which was not a problem for me. I decided on the moussaka and it was so delicious. It did have a strong nutmeg flavor but not in an overwhelming way. It came with a bechamel sauce on top and layers of eggplant with ground beef tomato and potato. It sort of reminded me of a shepherds pie if you're not as familiar with Greek food. The portion was HUGE - could easily split between 2. I ate almost half of it but couldn't eat the rest although I wish I could've. It was so good. The cocktail I ordered was a nectar spritz (something with "nectar" in the title at least) and genuinely was one of the best cocktails I've had. Definitely beat every other one I had in Pittsburgh this week by FAR. So yummy. I was so impressed with every aspect of my dining experience and would definitely be back!

I am from Detroit where Mediterranean food means accessible, quick shwarma and hummus- easy peasy. I walked in and asked for 2 chicken shwarmas to go. The hostess looked at me like I had two heads. I asked for a menu, looked at it and then asked "This is a Mediterranean place, right?" After explaining what I wanted she recommended the meatball sandwich. Meatball sandwich? As my husband approached I explained the options and he asked "This is a Mediterranean place, right?" After debating to leave or not, we agree to wait 15-20 minutes for a chicken pita handheld, described in the pic. We receive our order and it's two flatbreads (see pic). We inquire and the hostess emphatically says we ordered the flatbread. (My husband detests olives so I can assure you he didn't order the olive laden flatbread prepared for us. ). She full on argued with us. We don't eat white bread and cheese for any meal so we 100% did not order this. I can't say the flatbread with no chicken at all but loaded with olives tasted bad (well, my husband would) but the sheer lack of accountability for full on screwing up our order is unacceptable. One more question, in Pennsylvania is "Gyro"pronounced (GI-Roh)? So, maybe in Pennsylvania meatballs sandwiches, crab cakes and sausage sandwiches are Mediterranean, if perhaps that is not what you are looking for, keep looking.

This is a bit out of the way for us City dwellers, but it was absolutely worth the trip. From the moment we walked in, the lively atmosphere and energy of the place grabbed us. Such a great vibe, with the owners doing their thing and the staff bustling around making everything happen. We started with the trio of dips: hummus, feta, and tzatziki, served with olives and their delicious pita. Then came the spanakopita, which is definitely shareable, especially with a little salad on the side. And because every good brunch needs something sweet, we ordered the loukoumades. Savory + sweet = the perfect combination! Everything was just good!.......fresh, flavorful, satisfying, and exactly what you want when you're out celebrating. And of course, we couldn't leave empty-handed. We took home a loaf of raisin sourdough, which may have been the best decision of the day. A lively spot, wonderful food, great owners, and a staff that clearly keeps things moving. Anthos, I'm already looking forward to the next visit!
