My wife and I were eager and excited to try the restaurant, as we have visited Peru before and were mesmerized by the Peruvian Cuisine. We ordered Lomo Saltado, Jalea, and Tallarín Saltado (highly recommended by the staff). I'm very sorry folks but this is NO Peruvian Food. The Jalea was unpresentable and unimpressed with no real flavor. The Lomo Saltado failed to excite my palate, as it did in Peru; and the Tallarín Saltado barely "cut the mustard" with a 6 out of 10. There are tons of videos in YouTube (from Peruvian chefs and cooks) that will definitely help the kitchen at Amar. Notwithstanding the contrary, I wish them the best and great success. read more

We went to Amar around 5 on a Friday. There's parking at the restaurant and we were immediately seated. Within about 30 minutes, though, it was pretty packed. We ordered drinks and got them quickly, but then nobody came back to our table to take our order for several minutes. We ordered Tuna Nikkei as an appetizer, which came out relatively quickly and was really good! The umami sauce was a delicious addition to the tuna. I ordered Lomo Saltado and my partner ordered Huancaina Truffle Pasta. We both really enjoyed our food, but his food came out several minutes after mine did. This is a new restaurant so I think they're still working out the kinks, but the restaurant is beautiful and the food is delicious! Definitely worth checking out! read more

This place is new and it's a little small inside, but it is one of our new favorites places to go to now. Amar is a great restaurant with a small selection, but everything on here is really good. This last time we went, we had the tacos de ribeye, tuna nikkei, and aguachiles enamorados and I highly highly highly suggest the tacos and tuna. It was so flavorful and the sweet, salty, tangy tastes came together so well. It is a bit pricey here, but the food and service are so good that I believe it's actually kind of worth it. We are definitely going to be coming back here again. 10/10, would 100% recommend. read more

Super cute place. Decor is a 10/10. I had the Parmesan pasta which is pretty good but it would be nice if they brought some side bread out for the price. My bf had the tallarin saltado, which was overwhelmed by onions. Now the service.. once we got our food, not once was my water refilled. We sat outside and The waitress never came back once until the check so I didn't have a chance to ask. So we were sitting there forever with empty cups and I was parched. We were 3 couples group and we literally had to tell her one by one what each couple ordered during paying time. And she def was not happy about it, was a little rude. I was a waitress once and I know that you can group the food to prevent this from happening. Overall, vibes were great, food was decent. And service definitely needs improvement. read more

I've been there four times two were great and the other to not so much. The two times that the service was not good they took forever to take our order and for the food to come out. The last time I was there, we waited 50 minutes for our food to come out. When it finally came out my plate was missing. They have given it to another table. What a wonderful dining experience we had at Amar Peruvian/Mexican restaurant. The restaurant is decorated beautifully. It is not a big place, but it felt intimate. No loud music was a big plus. My friend and I shared the Lomo Saltado and the Arroz Mixto. Just fabulous. The beef was well seasoned and very tasty, with a light sauce. It was sitting on French fries along with tomatoes and peppers. The arroz was maybe Arborio rice, small and plump. The rice was mixed with meat and chicken, etc. Just delicious. I've been looking forward to trying Amar for months! Friday night dinner around 6 pm was already packed. When you walk in, you know the space is small, but the design is so welcoming with good natural light and well laid out. We sat inside and ordered the elote, Lomo Saltado and Arroz Chaufa. There's beer and wine aplenty on the menu. The lemonade was refreshing, but it was a tad too sweet for my taste. While waiting for the food, our server discussed dessert options with us. She knew the menu very well! She was also very energetic and cheerful. There was also plenty tu if staff around checking in tables to be sure nothing was missed or no one went unattended, which was impressive considering service in general in El Paso lately. When the meal arrived, the Lomo Saltado's aroma overtook the table in the very best way. It's honestly one of the tastiest dishes I've had in a long while. The potatoes were cooked to perfection, the tomato and onion chunks were hearty, and that tender meat was a plentiful on the plate, all making for such an impeccable flavor! What a meal! And it arrived promptly, too! We had time to enjoy our meal and talk and didn't feel rushed while keeping in mind there were others waiting to eat too. I have gone there several times now however during my recent visit, I noticed the reduction of meat in both the usual platters I order. (Saltado and truffle pasta) The taste was good (especially the pasta) however the lomo saltado was difficult to determine since the meat was almost not present. They were the tiniest pieces of meat. I did enjoy the elotes and the corn desert with vanilla ice cream. I suppose its going to be w in trepidation that I recommend this to others. Maybe an off night? read more

I dislike writing bad reviews but I tried several times to resolve this amicably. Before placing my order for pickup, I specifically asked if they could make the arroz chaufa WITHOUT beef. They offered to make it with chicken and shrimp only. You can imagine my disappointment when I got home to unpack my dinner and saw beef in both dishes. I immediately phoned the restaurant but the restaurant was closed by the time I got home after 9pm. The next day, I phoned, left a message and emailed the restaurant with the details of my order and received ZERO response. I finally called the restaurant and while the managers were sympathetic, none of them were authorized to refund the money and had to text/call the owner for permission. The managers offered two options, both of which were only partial refunds for the two dishes. My total bill was $102 and I only asked that they refund $50 for the two main entrees that had beef and they refused. What was most upsetting is the lack of accountability. I would NEVER trust this restaurant with any food allergies or dietary restrictions. The whole experience of calling and having to recount the incident numerous times to different managers only to be ignored is enough to turn me off. I love supporting local businesses but the service here is NOT worth the money or the headache. Word of advice - because I paid with a credit card, I was able to open a dispute against the charges and get a refund from the credit card company. One of my favorite places to go in EP! I'm not from here and I'm pretty disappointed in the food in EP but Amar has yet to disappoint me. I've been here 3x now and took my family here when they came to visit. Food is always on par and so delicious. Drinks are a little pricey but still good! I definitely recommend getting the elote! Best I've had. Service is always SO nice and i enjoy being here. Atmosphere is an awesome vibe. Restaurant is small so good chance of having to have a small wait on the weekend. Came in as a group of four on a Saturday night and was told the bar was open with enough seats. To our surprise there were only three available seats and had to wait while the waitress just stared at us in a mocking tone. She did not say anything to us but kept giggling to herself. We asked another paying customer if they can scoot down so we could take a seat, which she was more than willing to do. We sat at the bar and the waitress just stared at us then walked away before handing us a drink menu, or a food menu. We waited about 15 minutes before receiving any type of service. Which we understood because it was busy, however it was not communicated with us whatsoever. The food on the other hand tasted very well, although the Huancaina Truffle Pasta we ordered was cold. We also ordered the shrimp cocktail, tacos de ribeye, and the Elotes a la brasa. The shrimp cocktail was delicious and was packed with tons of flavor. The Rib Eye Tacos and the green salsa were extremely delicious but also cold. I suggest ordering the elotes a la brasa for a nice mouthwatering surprise! The restaurant itself was beautiful, great for a date night or just to hang out with friends. A great photo op in El Paso! The food is authentic and they have the absolute best "pan de Elote". The service is good and the place itself is very comfortable.

Some of the menu items are way overpriced for what they are. We went there on Wednesday night, ordered muna tea. The servers charged us $14 for tea. It tasted ordinary mint tea; and $14 for tea is a joke. Maybe the server(s) made a mistake and charged twice, but I would not value it no more than $3. We got empanadas and beef tallarin saltado. They tasted good but I felt they are not live up to their price (two empanadas for $10.5 and beef tallarin for $23.5). Last time I was there and ordered taco, there were supposed to be two tacos but there was only one. So dealing with them making a mistake is another problem. Definitely, check your bill before paying if there is any mistake at this place. Food is good, but with the price it could do better. read more

I called to make a reservation for a party of 8. I was so disappointed to know that they require a commitment of a $65.00 per person in order to make a reservation. We had 3 kids going with us and they will not eat $65 each worth of food, even though the grownups definitely would.
