The price-fixed lunch consisted of only two choices. My husband chose the one consisting of pasta with broccoli rabe, and veal sausage (without the sausage). I ordered puttanesca with cappers and chile off the regular menu and my daughter ordered a personal pizza. We ordered calamari as an appetizer and had to wait about twenty minutes for it. When it arrived it was slightly chewy but good. The fried lemon slices and crisped sage were an excellent touch. We waited about another 25 minutes for our entrees to come out. My puttanesca was too spicy. My husband's pasta dish was tasty but sitting in a puddle of olive oil. He actually tilted the bowl and poured at least 1/4 cup of oil out! My daughter's pizza was very good. The manager walked from table to table and asked the customers how their meals were. My husband brought up the fact his pasta was swimming in a puddle of olive oil and showed him how much he poured off. The manager apologized and said the reason that happened is the shape of the bowl causes everything to sink. read more

This an upscale Italian establishment , we were greeted by a front of the house lady who was wearing canvas sneakers and Capri jeans , later too find out she was the manager. We are foodies and eat out all time . We ordered apps and four entries a house special pizza, the pizza comes all is good . Then the entries come too the table the four of us are shocked !!!The appetizers never came the waitress never said anything until we brought it too her attention!!!!Now the back peddle begins let us bring them now we said definitely not too late . The front of the house lady comes over with the waitress and tells us it was her fault , we were not really apologized too at this point, Tracey the MGr front of house had a flippant attitude about it ( not customer friendly) insisted on still bringing them too the table , we said no . Then she brings the octopus apps and its on us please try it , we insisted she remove it and take it off table ! We requested the bill and she removed $25 corkage charge and gave us two cards. For 10 percent off on a future dinner , Ha! The prices in this restaurant are equal too the city but this kind of mix up was totally intolerably it ruined our nite !!!! We have eaten at many of Toms restaurants if he was in house it would have been a different out come on how we were treated by Tracey the Mgr, she was not happy when my buddy and I told her we knew all about Tom. Came for dinner, service was horrible and they weren't even that busy. We ordered steamed mussels app which was OK, kinda bland. We had to ask 2 servers and food runner just to get bread. By the 3rd time we had already finished the mussels. You know what goes great with bread.... wait for it.... that's right, bread plates. It's a little difficult to dip bread in mussel broth when you're sitting at an outdoor table with a metal mesh top with no table cloth, and avoid dripping broth on your legs. It took 5 more minutes to get bread plates. You cant make this stuff up. Pork chop entree was great and their desserts were tasty and pretty creative. unfortunately I don't remember more detail about the highlights because the horrific service overshadowed the entire experience. read more

My husband and I don't particularly love Italian food, but this place seemed cute and cozy. We didn't have a reservation, and on Sat night, it was pretty packed. We got on the list for 2 seats at the bar- which we kind of like anyways. Mike, the bartender, was AMAZING. I don't know how he moves so fast and keeps everyone's orders in check, all while staying calm, and running the entire bar by himself. We ordered a few dishes to split- warm mushroom salad (UNBELIEVABLE!), meatballs, and grilled octopus. All of the apps we ordered were delicious. Super flavorful, good value, etc.. We have been coming to this restaurant for years and this past Sunday evening we were very disappointed. The fried calamari is now made differently. The batter was on the mushy side and lacks flavor.....so much better the old way it was made. Also ordered the pizza with the goat cheese....disappointed again. Over kill with the olives and that's all you were able to taste. The goat cheese was dry and tiny crumbled up pieces almost like feta cheese. The goat cheese was not creamy at all. I dined here recently with two others. It was actually our third choice on a Wednesday night because our first two choices (Crazy Fork and Love Lane Kitchen) were closed. Two of us ordered wine, which was fine and reasonably priced. We shared the prusciotto and mozzarella fritters as an appetizer. They came out dark, almost with a burnt flavor. Upon cutting into them we were greeted with hot breading and chopped red pepper. Finally in the last of 4 fritters we found a morsel of meat. They were heavy and dense, not what we were expecting at all. For dinner myself and one companion had pizza. They were both fine, nothing to write home about. My least favorite part of the pizza was the unappetizing clumps of flour on the bottom of the crust and left on my plate when I lifted it up. The third diner in our group got a stuffed veal chop. It took eating half of it to eventually get to the stuffing, when he did there were huge clumps of inedible herbs in it. The chop was also breaded in a way that made it appear heavy and unappealing. One entree, 2 glasses of wine, 2 pizzas and an appetizer cost us $100 plus tip. . . . I was beyond underwhelmed. We all left feeling like we did not get our money's worth. We ate here last night and each ordered the fixed price dinner. What a bargain! I recommend the salmon and cheesecake made with ricotta. To start, we shared the Catapano Farms Goat Cheese First Press Olive Oil Spiced Apricots Grilled Bread and the fresh mozzarella special appetizer which was light and refreshing. The kids ordered the brick oven pizzas while my wife and I shared the Cod Fish Eggplant special and Penne Chicken Prosciutto Spinach Garlic Parmesan Broth entrees. Had the pleasure to be out East and looking for a restaurant on the return trip from the ferry at Orient Point. We made reservations for three and were impressed from the moment we arrived. Parking was easy with their own lot in the rear. On the outside surface the restaurant appears and a non-descript area style home. Inside a very pleasing and well stocked bar area and then a dinning area that accommodates about 50 diners. Staff was polite, efficient and timely. Stopped in for dinner after a wine tasting excursion. Not being that familiar with eateries on the North Fork, we picked this one because it was close to where the tastings were done. We arrived at our reserved time and were seated promptly and treated with the usual amenities, nice greeting , water, bread etc. They have a nice wine list, with good selections of local wines to match any palate. The menu is really another story though, tough to figure out what the theme is, a little bit of everything is offered. No "chef special" though, the one which is announced by the waiter when being seated. We started off with a bottle of Paumonok Cab, a good sturdy wine which I suppose would go with anything. Good choice, because that's what appeared to come to the table. For appetizers we tried the veal topped pizza and charred octopus. The pizza was acceptable, but a little chewy for a thin-crust style. The charred octopus was just that, charred and burnt tasting. I had the Chicken Scarpa as my main, and found it soaked in a vinagrette of some type, not very palatable. The Lasagne was small, mushy and bland, no body or "punch" to the sauce and overcooked on the pasta. Overall I found the food lacking a character, with perhaps a bit too much going on in each plate. The presentation belies it's taste: Looks good, tastes poor. For the money, more care should be exercised in menu composition, perhaps focusing more on a signature dish and really working it into something special. Perhaps if the owners would sit and critically taste test what is going out before it hits the table it would be more accommodating to the patrons. I read more

I really enjoyed my lunch at aMano. They had a great prixe fixe option. They also had a deal on bloody marys, mimosas and House wines. We started with an appetizer of meatballs and the salami and cheese plate/Flat bread/Fruit Mostarda/Truffle Honey/Olives. Both were great. The meatballs were perfection. We then split a pizza, the Smoked Duck/Roasted Tomatoes/Fontina/Saba. Absolutely delicious. I look forward to our next meal there. read more

The bus boy was the most attentive person at this restaurant, did I mention we never even met our waiter/waitress? Went last night for East End Restaurant week. Kudos to a place that actually has numerous choices without upcharges and then serves good food with pretty large portions unlike some other prixe fix restaurants. This topped off with bottle of Chianti from Tuscany at the same price as food offerings made for a memorable meal with good friends. Excellent in fact. So much so that we've been back three times in the past month. everything was over the top good. Only comment is that I wish they would consider getting a bartender versus the waitress making the drinks because it takes a long time. I have been sunmering out on the north fork for some time now and never came in to aMano. I wish I had come in sooner. The food was very good. We started off with some pizzas though a little pricey they were very good and had great flavor. We then had two salads one Caesar and another called north fork salad. The Caesar was amazing and the north fork salad was pretty good too. Next was entree I had the ravioli which was amazing. And my wife had the salmon which she said was one of the best dishes she has had on the north fork. I wish the front of the house staff was as good as the back. The waitress was wry slow at taking our orders and getting us our wine. And the manager was very rude and staff offish to us as well when we entered and wasn't very accommodating. All in all the food was very good but the front of the house needs major training in how to be nice and how to move a little faster. UPDATE December 2012: So after my first time going there I decided to return because the food was very good. This time we went was a different story... Not sure what happened if there was a change in hands but the food was not good at all, cold, no wow factor at all, kind of like cafeteria food... Not good at all right now, will post again if i decide to try this place again, which is right now not worth the money.
