Grilled Chicken Wings -- 9.5 of 10 I'm a regular here, but this time I came back to try their new creation -- fire-grilled chicken wings. I must say, they were absolutely spectacular! I ordered a 12-piece with two flavors and then observed my wings being grilled to perfection on the open fire. The flavors I went with were bbq and spicy lemon pepper. Both flavors were excellent and the wings were juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. You could see that perfect grill char through the applied layer of marinade. Visually and by taste, these wings were close to perfection. And as far as wing size, they must have been 50% bigger than any of the wings I've tried in LA. A sure winner, here in Altadena! The spot itself has great energy and tables inside and out for dining in. I personally enjoy their outside seating quite a lot. As far as customer service, it's always top notch. Parking was easy and the desserts were delicious! This place is expensive but honestly I think k it compares to places like Paris Baguette with price so I think it's not bad! Came here to try the Fruit Mousse desserts. I got the green apple, raspberry, and mango. The mango was by far, the best one. The outer layers are made of white chocolate I believe, and the insides have different flavored mousse according to its fruit. The raspberry one was my second favorite, as the raspberry filling was tart-like and not so sweet. The apple filling tasted like apple pie. $12.50 is semi-reasonably priced. Finally got around to trying this amazing bakery after months of seeing it all over my instagram, and it absolutely lived up to the standards portrayed. The service and hospitality were incredible from the moment I walked in. I met David, one of the family members who opened the shop, and he welcomed me like I was part of the family. I got to learn more about the background of who originally opened the shop and how this store has grown into what we see today. Everyone working there was so kind and attentive, especially Meline, who personally helped me and made sure everything was perfect. I tried a variety of their baked goods, and every single one was out of this world. The atmosphere and culture of the place made me truly feel like I was back home. I've been coming to Altadena Bakery for over 10 years at this point and I can't believe this is my first time reviewing. This review is for the cafe, though what I say here also goes for their bakery. I not only love the food, dessert, pastries, etc, but I love the atmosphere. It feel the way a bakery should, welcoming and homey and I have to say I have never had bad experience with service here. The employees all seem to be very happy working there and you can taste that in the food. We have ordered pizza and multiple kinds of sandwiches from here before but this time we tried something we hadn't tried yet and it was the chciken breast kabob sandwhich and it was wowww!! From the quality of the bread to the chicken to the other individual ingredients this was phenomenal. I do want to note I have a low spice tolerance so be warned that this is spicy if you are spice sensitive but despite the spice I absolutely loved this sandwhich and can't wait to come back for it. It is pricey but you can't beat the quality and the quantity. Also unlike so many bakeries and cafes in Burbank/Glendale this place has a lot of parking whether it's in the front on the street or the back lot that's their own parking and I really appreciate that. Also note that theres minimal seating inside but there are some spots outside to enjoy your food, we've just always done takeout. read more

My friend sent me a viral reel of Alta Dena Bakery's fruit desserts, which encouraged me to visit the place. I stopped by the bakery around 2pm on a Wednesday. Didn't know it was more than just a bakery. They also had an extension of their restaurant that specialized in pizzas, especially Armenian-style pizzas. The artistry of the fruit cakes was undeniable. They nailed the colors and shapes. I asked the server which cake she thought was the best, and she suggested to go with the pear because of its filling. She made a bold claim saying that it was like eating ice cream. The reel I saw also featured the pear cake. I got the pear, but I honestly didn't think it was really as great as the server and reel made it out to be. I had just gone to New York and tried the most exquisite fruit shaped cakes, so I had a baseline to compare. Alta Dena's was like a home baker version. A for effort, C+ in execution. The pear's white chocolate shell was not hardened with a crisp texture. The vanilla cream was just too excessive and overpowered the caramelized pear filling. This was one of the worst experiences I've had at a bakery. I was sold cakes that were clearly damaged without being told beforehand. Each cake cost $15, and I only noticed that two of them were damaged as I was about to leave the store. When I went back to inform the employee, she simply said it was the last one and walked away--no apology, no offer to exchange or refund. The customer service was very poor and dismissive. Everything here is overpriced for the quality and service provided. I will not be returning. What a great find for desserts and pizza/deli cafe. The main attraction for this place is the pastries and the mousses, all sort of fruits and the mushroom. They are so pretty and so edible! We ordered pretty much everything. Apple, mango, peach, mushroom, Napoleon and tiramisu. We also ordered the meat pizza and the signature pizza and the beef Shish sandwich. Pizza was good. I'm really glad I visited Altadena Bakery. Not only are the baked good delicious but so are the sandwiches. Who knew this hidden gem was around. We came for the viral fruit but we stayed to have a sandwich. Definitly worth the hype. My friend and I share a chicken sandwhich. They're pretty long so one can easily be shared plus it came as combo with a soda. They have plenty to choose from hot or cold. Plus they have pizzas. We didn't try the pizza hence the 4 stars but their desserts are IG worthy. I really enjoyed a slice is the dubai chocolate cake. To be honest, I don't care for the chocolate but the cake is chefs kiss! Highly recommend the mango viral fruit and the coconut viral fruit. Those 2 are the best. Everyone there is super friendly. I placed a fairly large order (8 sandwiches) at 12:00 PM for a 1:00 PM pickup. When I arrived, the process was extremely chaotic. I was first told to stand in line and take a number to pay. Then I was told I didn't need a number and could just give my name for my order instead. There was no clear system, and it felt like both customers and staff were confused about how pickup orders were supposed to work. When I finally made it to the pickup counter around 1:30 PM, I was told my order still wasn't ready and that I needed to wait another 15 minutes. In total, we waited about an extra hour beyond the scheduled pickup time. That said, the food itself was excellent. The steak sandwich was amazing, with juicy and tender pieces, and the chicken sandwich was just as good. The sauces and toppings were also fantastic and really brought everything together. The staff were friendly, but didn't seem sure how to direct patrons. There was plenty of outdoor seating, and the place was very crowded since it operates as both a bakery and a sandwich/pizza station. Overall, I'm giving this a 4 out of 5 because the food was very, very good.....but the ordering and pickup process definitely needs improvement. I hate to have to write this review, but I got bit by the hype bug all on social media. So I had to make the drive down here and trying figure out what I was going to get. The bakery is located right on Glenoaks Blvd so street parking comes at a premium. However, there is a parking lot right behind the bakery that has about 4-5 spaces. There's also a bunch of street parking behind the bakery. If you park back there, you can enter the door in the back instead of having to walk around to the front. Walked in and asked one of the employees if they had a menu I could look at. Instead of handing me the menu, he pointed me to the bakery area. Make sure you grab a ticket when you get to the bakery area as they will not talk to you unless you had a ticket. So I grabbed the ticket and then asked someone for the menu. Since this was my first time here, it took me a while to decide if I wanted a sandwich or pizza for dinner. While waiting for my number to be called, I peruse the goodies and in all honesty, didn't look very interesting tbh. The fruit ones do look fantastic, if I was eating with my eyes, but since I'm not, I will not be paying $10 for that. I'm guessing that's how much it costs. Anyways, I ordered the beef shish sandwich, plain cheesecake, chocolate cake and hazelnut eclair (I think). Total came out to $35 and some change. Then I realized that they charge a 3% credit card fee, so add another $1+ on top of that. Now don't get me wrong, the desserts look great, but again, I do not eat with my eyes. Waited a good 10+ minutes for the sandwich to be ready. I then grabbed a table right outside as it was a nice cool Saturday night. The sandwich alone was about $18 and it was not worth that much. You can get a whole meal for that amount of money. But I digress. I think I read that it's filet mignon pieces and I have to say that it was super tender. The bread is made in house and it was toasted to perfection. It was light and airy and I love that crunch you get when you bite in to it. They add cilantro, raw onions and a creamy sauce. Altogether, I thought the sandwich was pretty good, but I couldn't taste any char from the meat. In fact, the creamy sauce pretty much hid the taste of the meat. The bread did kind of reminded me of a banh mi bread, just lighter. Now on to the desserts. I had the eclair and chocolate cake. I thought the taste was there, but it did taste kind of stale though. Now someone said that this place was a Porto's Killer. Now, I don't think Porto's is all that either, but I would choose Porto's over this place because the desserts definitely taste more fresh there. I am not making the excuse that because I came in around 5pm, that affected the taste/texture of the desserts here, because at Porto's, it doesn't matter what time you walk in, the desserts always taste fresh. Oh that reminds me, I also asked for a plain croissant and just remembered that I had asked for it. The girl totally forgot to add to the box, but luckily, I was not charged for it. But I can only imagine this late in the day, it probably was not going to be flaky anymore. I'm not saying to stay away from this place, but if you haven't been, you should at least give it a try and hopefully have a better experience than me. I might go back for their bread and maybe a pizza next time though. But will not be driving 30 minutes back here. read more

The location looks clean and well kept. The pastries are on the expensive side, about $15 each, but they are definitely eye-catching, but I'm not sure I would spend that much on a pastry again. Best ajarski of my LIFE! Hands down. Look, if you were a kid in the 90s, yearning for the Pizza Hut stuffed cheese crust to be the dream scenario that their commercials presented, well look no further...you have found Nirvana, right here in Burbank with these ajarski. You can even get them with pepperoni An indulgent amount of the softest, creamiest, wonderfully stretchy cheese, filled straight into the folded edges of some of the most delightfully thin, soft, chewy, fresh crust this side of the 134...I can think of no other word than Heaven. Sheer heaven. They offer different topping options, and are famous for their pastrami, which I ordered and would order again! Eggs cooked to your specifications. I choose over medium and they came out more easy, but I was glad for that. It was just perfect for dipping. My partner ordered the Dav's Suprami Sandwich, which is the pastrami with extra stuff, ordered without peppers or tomatoes, but they did still put tomatoes in. We did not ask them to correct it because they were mostly easy to remove. Next time, we'd order the regular pastrami sandwich and just add mushrooms to it to avoid that. We lucked out and got to try their seasoned fries, which apparently they do not often have in stock. The standard fried are unseasoned. I hope they are able to get the seasoned ones in stock more regularly tho because they were awesome! We almost always add salt to our fries, but these didn't need it. We ate at the tables outside on Glenoaks Blvd, which was not too traffic-y. The building provided us with some nice shade from the hothothot afternoon sun. There are also a few small tables inside. You can take your order to go, but we wanted it fresh out of the oven! Everything arrived so hot and fresh that we could have made the drive home and still enjoyed melty cheese. I bet the pizzas are out of this world with that same delightful crust as the ajarski, and we can't wait to try them. Everyone here was so nice, helpful. The pizza guy talked to us for a long time about the food and suggested other specialties to try for next time. You order & pay with the bakery side cashier and then pick up (or have your food brought to you) by the other side. We will definitely be back here, probably often! I've recently seen how this bakery has become quite popular among food bloggers for their desserts, especially the ones shaped like fruit not only for how realistic they look, but how they all rave about this place and give said desserts a 10/10 all the time. Stopped by it today with two of my friends and we decided to share a few so we could see what their hype was about and it was definitely a disappointment. Service is okay, they greet you, and are polite, but I feel they are annoyed and overwhelmed, especially when people stop them midway with a tray full of pear shape desserts and ask to take a picture, which I can't blame them, so please if you go have some common sense and don't do that. Now, onto the desserts; they are just okay. As one of my friends said, this is more of a novelty item, where you can post on IG or TikTok, but the 10/10 reviews they are definitely lying or they are getting the desserts for free. We got the green apple and the pear shaped desserts. Visually I do give their desserts a perfect 10, because they look amazing, but taste wise they get probably a 5, and that's being generous. The apple just had a little bit of apple compote and it was tasteless, where I would think it would resemble more of an apple pie flavor inside the apple and it was not. The pear was a bit better, but again the filling to size of the "fruit" it's not proportionate, so it's all cream, which taste like nothing, and a bit of filling that you get is equally bland. Also got a pistachio croissant which it was just okay, nothing worth mentioning, and two passion fruit eclairs, which was probably the only good dessert of all the ones we got. Their fruit desserts are $10 each, which is not awful, but it gets to be expensive when they're just not good. Every single thing I ordered was delicious. Half the store is dedicated to pastries/ cakes, the other side is sandwiches , pizza& salads. The place is spotless. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Food was fresh and piping hot. For starters, the pastries all looked amazing. We ordered the strawberry tart, which was one of the best we've had. The artisan bread with the sandwich was cooked in the oven and had that delicious crunchy crust with melted cheese. The pizza was made in front of us and came out quick. I've been coming to this place for many years and have always enjoyed the food, which is why this experience was especially disappointing. Over time, it feels like the service has been declining. When I called to place my order, it took nearly 10 minutes to communicate a very simple order over the phone. When I arrived to pick it up, part of my order was missing. I had ordered both a breakfast pizza--which I've been getting here for years--and an ajarski. The ajarski hadn't even been started, so I had to wait another 20 minutes while they prepared it. On top of that, the breakfast pizza had been made incorrectly and had to be redone as well. Unfortunately, when I got home, the food itself was not prepared properly. The ajarski, which I specifically asked to be well done, was still raw and the dough was completely undercooked, making it inedible. I genuinely like this business and have supported it for a long time. I'm not looking to harm the company with a negative review, which is why I will be removing the review, but I do hope management sees this and takes steps to address the issues. The lady that took our order seemed like she was having a rough morning & was extremely serious. I ordered a breakfast sandwhich which was pretty delicious but the lady forgot to mention this "bacon" was spicy so I couldn't give it to my son. Something important to mention since not everyone likes spicy breakfast sandwiches. Coffee was simple & the tiramisu dessert was also good/ok.
