The place was pretty small, connected to a pizza place. There's outside seating available as well as a few small tables inside. I've seen TikToks about this place and was very eager to try it when I was in the area. I chose a couple of items that weren't the ones I've seen on Tiktok, but I still wanted to give the place a try. Raspberry Chocolate Mousse(6/10): The tartlet was very hard to cut into and the center was still frozen. Although it wasn't completely thawed out, I thought the flavor wasn't too bad. The mousse had a hint of chocolate and there was a thin layer of chocolate cake in between the tart and mousse. The filling was just raspberry puree. The tartness of the raspberries nicely cut through the sweetness of the cake. Pear Ice Cream Cake(7/10): When I saw this cake in the display, it was labeled as a mousse, but when I cut into it there was none. I was expecting mousse, but instead there was vanilla ice cream. It didn't disappoint me too much because the ice cream was good at least. There were also pieces of pear infused in the ice cream. Dubai Crispy Pastry(5/10): I didn't see the label for this one, but that's the best way I can explain it. It was 3 layers from what I can remember. It was the pistachio spread, chocolate, and the pastry. This one was messy to eat. The pastry was hard to cut through and the filling was so soft that it oozed out every time I tried to cut a piece. The flavor wasn't too bad, just messy. Napoleon Slice(5/10): The worker recommended this piece to us and so we gave it a try. This one was also messy and hard to cut through. The flavor wasn't bad either, but I just wish the pastry wasn't hard. Service(10/10): Although I didn't have a good experience with the food items, the service was incredible! The workers greeted us and helped us out with some of the decision making. They're super nice, very friendly, and very quick! I walked in after opening and immediately saw the huge croissants and had to order one! It did not disappoint. I came in to order sandwiches, and ordered an Italian and a Pastrami. Grilled Chicken Wings -- 9.5 of 10 I'm a regular here, but this time I came back to try their new creation -- fire-grilled chicken wings. I must say, they were absolutely spectacular! I ordered a 12-piece with two flavors and then observed my wings being grilled to perfection on the open fire. The flavors I went with were bbq and spicy lemon pepper. Both flavors were excellent and the wings were juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. You could see that perfect grill char through the applied layer of marinade. Visually and by taste, these wings were close to perfection. And as far as wing size, they must have been 50% bigger than any of the wings I've tried in LA. A sure winner, here in Altadena! Took a trip here after one of my son's games because I really wanted to try it after having it pop up on my FYP a couple of times. We weren't too sure where to park, so I just grabbed the first parking spot I saw on the street. It's a fairly big establishment, as they have 2 sections; their bakery section and their small restaurant. When we got there, the restaurant section didn't really have anything going on, and the bakery section would have 2-3 parties at a time. There aren't any seating inside, so we sat on one of the tables outside. Anyways, here's our food input ...Not even knowing how much each of the pastries costs ($10 each, btw), my son and I chose 4 different flavors. I asked the employee who was assisting us what her favorite was, and she said the raspberry one, so we got one of those. My son chose the mango and the banana one, and together, we chose the hazelnut one for my youngest. The employee was super friendly and was really patient with us, considering we weren't quite sure what we were in for. She explained the different flavors for us, so that's how we ended up with the 4 we chose. Our first bite was the banana one. Just like the rest of them, it had in a light crunchy white chocolate coating, a light banana chocolate mousse with, what I believe, was a moist chocolate cake inside. This was good, but we felt like the others were better. We rated this one a 6.5/10. I then tried the raspberry one, which was NOT what I expected but was so good. It had the light mousse inside but what made it was the filling! The tartness and the creaminess of this particular one was lovely. I gave this one a 9/10. My son had the mango one, and he truly enjoyed it. Again a very light and creamy mango mousse with little bits of mangoes in it. He gave this one a 9/10. Lastly, the hazelnut one reminded us of a really smooth and creamier Nutella. It was my boys' favorite because they thoroughly enjoy anything chocolate-hazelnut. This was rated a 8.5/10, but my husband would probably beg to differ and rank it closer to a 9/10. Unfortunately, this is the only one I did NOT get to try myself, so that rating is from my boys. I placed a fairly large order (8 sandwiches) at 12:00 PM for a 1:00 PM pickup. When I arrived, the process was extremely chaotic. I was first told to stand in line and take a number to pay. Then I was told I didn't need a number and could just give my name for my order instead. There was no clear system, and it felt like both customers and staff were confused about how pickup orders were supposed to work. When I finally made it to the pickup counter around 1:30 PM, I was told my order still wasn't ready and that I needed to wait another 15 minutes. In total, we waited about an extra hour beyond the scheduled pickup time. That said, the food itself was excellent. The steak sandwich was amazing, with juicy and tender pieces, and the chicken sandwich was just as good. The sauces and toppings were also fantastic and really brought everything together. The staff were friendly, but didn't seem sure how to direct patrons. There was plenty of outdoor seating, and the place was very crowded since it operates as both a bakery and a sandwich/pizza station. Overall, I'm giving this a 4 out of 5 because the food was very, very good.....but the ordering and pickup process definitely needs improvement. My friend sent me a viral reel of Alta Dena Bakery's fruit desserts, which encouraged me to visit the place. I stopped by the bakery around 2pm on a Wednesday. Didn't know it was more than just a bakery. They also had an extension of their restaurant that specialized in pizzas, especially Armenian-style pizzas. The artistry of the fruit cakes was undeniable. They nailed the colors and shapes. I asked the server which cake she thought was the best, and she suggested to go with the pear because of its filling. She made a bold claim saying that it was like eating ice cream. The reel I saw also featured the pear cake. I got the pear, but I honestly didn't think it was really as great as the server and reel made it out to be. I had just gone to New York and tried the most exquisite fruit shaped cakes, so I had a baseline to compare. Alta Dena's was like a home baker version. A for effort, C+ in execution. The pear's white chocolate shell was not hardened with a crisp texture. The vanilla cream was just too excessive and overpowered the caramelized pear filling. Came here to try the Fruit Mousse desserts. I got the green apple, raspberry, and mango. The mango was by far, the best one. The outer layers are made of white chocolate I believe, and the insides have different flavored mousse according to its fruit. The raspberry one was my second favorite, as the raspberry filling was tart-like and not so sweet. The apple filling tasted like apple pie. $12.50 is semi-reasonably priced. My friends saw these desserts on TikTok and they looked amazing. So we had to try, This place over delivered. It is family owned and the owner and his son came and thanked us for visiting. They also have amazing pizza as well as desserts. The kabobs were the best we ever had. What we really liked was they had inside and outdoor seating. We had espresso with our desserts. Came here on my birthday and waited for a while and ended up leaving due to terrible customer service. There is no rhyme or reason to the madness of this place. All I can say is this place needs to work on how it handles its customers. After patiently waiting for about 15 minutes I had made it to the register to order food. That's when multiple women behind the counter helped people behind me asking me to move out of the way. Why would you take people behind me? Next, a woman walked in from outside. She had just parked and walked in. She started talking to the woman behind the counter in Armenian and she helped her before everyone else. That's when I lost it and I left. Literally no one would wait on me. I asked her why will no one take my order and she just smiled and said sorry we're so busy but proceeded to help the woman behind me and still not take my order. I was blown away. I guess I'm not allowed to eat here. Instead of making videos on social media about being busy or having a rush come through I would suggest actually spending time to train your employees what to do. Pulling customers from all over the line and not trying to go in order is why you had chaos inside. Also, Why do you have customers paying from behind the counter? This was one of the worst experiences I've had at a bakery. I was sold cakes that were clearly damaged without being told beforehand. Each cake cost $15, and I only noticed that two of them were damaged as I was about to leave the store. I've been coming to Altadena Bakery for over 10 years at this point and I can't believe this is my first time reviewing. This review is for the cafe, though what I say here also goes for their bakery. I not only love the food, dessert, pastries, etc, but I love the atmosphere. It feel the way a bakery should, welcoming and homey and I have to say I have never had bad experience with service here. The employees all seem to be very happy working there and you can taste that in the food. We have ordered pizza and multiple kinds of sandwiches from here before but this time we tried something we hadn't tried yet and it was the chciken breast kabob sandwhich and it was wowww!! From the quality of the bread to the chicken to the other individual ingredients this was phenomenal. I do want to note I have a low spice tolerance so be warned that this is spicy if you are spice sensitive but despite the spice I absolutely loved this sandwhich and can't wait to come back for it. It is pricey but you can't beat the quality and the quantity. Also unlike so many bakeries and cafes in Burbank/Glendale this place has a lot of parking whether it's in the front on the street or the back lot that's their own parking and I really appreciate that. After leaving, I realized I couldn't find my bag and remembered I had left it at the café. I called them right away, even though it had already been 2-3 hours. The phone was answered by a very kind woman named Sona, who reassured me: "Don't worry, your bag is here." One of the staff members had found it and brought it to the front. When I returned, every single employee was so sweet and polite. They gave me my bag back, and all my cards and cash were still inside--not a single cent missing. Finally got around to trying this amazing bakery after months of seeing it all over my instagram, and it absolutely lived up to the standards portrayed. The service and hospitality were incredible from the moment I walked in. I met David, one of the family members who opened the shop, and he welcomed me like I was part of the family. I got to learn more about the background of who originally opened the shop and how this store has grown into what we see today. Everyone working there was so kind and attentive, especially Meline, who personally helped me and made sure everything was perfect.
