But, I have to say this: The people, (receptionists,…read morethe ladies in the office, the oil guys, and even the mechanics), at ALBRIGHTS GARAGE AND OIL COMPANY, are AMAZING. I had a slight problem with my old oil company on Thursday. I ran out of oil, and my house was at 48-50 degrees for about 2 hours after I called. Long story, short. I didn't get my auto-matic delivery, and was out of oil. I called Albrights as soon as they opened. The woman I talked to was BRILLANT. She told me the best plan for us, explained everything to me in detail, with prices. And got me filled, that day! Even being a brand new customer that morning!! I talked to her several times during the day and she was so nice and helpful. The man who brought the oil, was awesome, I went out and chatted with him about what may have happened, and he explained it to me. They even emailed me later in the day, to make sure everything was running smoothly, and asking to give the furnace and oil tank a look. The man that came today, explained everything he was doing, looked at the furnace. And said everything liked good. I also, have my truck at the shop at Albrights today, for an alignment and tire rotation. I got a call this morning from the nicest mechanic, who told me, my little Tunney had a bad ball joint. And it needed to be fixed before the alignment. He explained what was wrong, and asked if I wanted it fixed, or if I needed time to think about it. Because it was a costly repair. Which I greatly appreciate. Everyone at this business that I have had contact with over the past four or five days, is so sweet and great! I really appreciate a small town business like this!!! You guys are great! Ps. And their oil is .10 cheaper than my old oil company. And they saved me over $500 a year!!

I went to Roe Jan Auto for a simple $30 tire rotation and got fleeced for $700. How did this…read morehappen? Read on. My regular mechanic, whom I've used for many years and who specializes in my make of car, wasn't available for medical reasons, so I went to Roe Jan Auto. When the mechanic came to the waiting area to get my car keys I immediately had a bad feeling. The guy looked like he was still in high school. I should've listened to my gut and hightailed it out of there because ten minutes later he came out from the back and announced that in the process of attempting to remove my wheel lug nuts he had broken the studs off. The guy behind the counter was falling all over himself apologizing so he knew that they had screwed up badly. They then told me that due to the particular design of my bearing they could not simply tap out the broken studs and replace them, but would need to replace the entire wheel bearing (cheap fix vs expensive). Tapping out a broken stud and inserting a new one is the standard method of dealing with this situation--but it's not lucrative. This mechanic had managed to break off not just one but THREE studs, which actually made me wonder if it had really happened accidentally. Breaking three studs is quite a feat. Prior to this fiasco I've had this car for over 12 years and have had numerous sets of new sets of tires installed and rotated and never had a single broken stud, let alone three. I later spoke to my regular mechanic and found out that what I had been told by Roe Jan was completely false and that it is perfectly possible to tap out and replace the broken studs in my bearing. This was again verified by a second mechanic. But if they had done that they wouldn't have been able to charge me $700 for a new bearing. To top it all off, my regular mechanic (who specializes in my make of car) told me that they had used the wrong type of bolts when they re-attached my wheel. To be avoided.

We heard a loud and worrisome scraping noise in our front wheel, like metal hitting metal. We were…read moreon a weekend vacation that required us to be home in two days from when the problem started. I called Subaru, and they said they could work on the car in two days. I called Bearsville Garage and heard the voice of someone who instantly put me at ease. After sending a video of the horrific scraping sound taken the night before, I was told to come in, and they would take a look at the problem and, if need be, order the part and hopefully have it done by day's end! We drove to Bearsville Garage, where we were greeted by the owner, Joe, who was knowledgeable, experienced, and Kind. We are from Manhattan, so it is great to know that there is someone we can rely on when we are in this area. The noise had stopped on our way to the garage, and we learned it was a stone caught in the brake system. After a thorough examination with an explanation of the brake system, because we asked many questions, our problem was quickly understood and solved, and we were on our way. I took it just up the street to my local repair shop because a hand injury made it difficult for me to put air in the tires. The shop was so nice, we chatted, I pet their dog, it felt good. When they pulled my car out they told me I needed an inspection (true) but that I would not pass it without new breaks (false). I took the car to Hendricks for an oil change and they said the breaks were fine for now but could be replaced when I do the next oil change in 6,000 miles. I'm a 70 year old woman. I feel more sad than angry about this experience. I'm pleased I have Hendrick to work on my car because my car dealer also pulled a similar trick with my last car. A woman friend recommended Hendricks. They are worth crossing the bridge for.

The front wheel bearing on my F-350 had failed. I asked them to do both at the same time. Tried to tell me I had a bad upper ball joint. Sent me a video. Looked to me like the nut was loose. Told them same. They disagreed. No worries, I said let it go. When I picked up the truck, I pulled the cotter pin, put a socket on the the nut and tightened it up. (Left loose by Owner at Santoni's garage in Collegeville Pa. when fixing alignment his "tech" screwed up) Just came in from lubing the front end on my truck. Felt something by the passengers lower ball joint. Got it out and found out it was the nut from the upper right stud where Gallagher's had replaced the bearing. This is why I do all my own work whenever possible. Also poor communication about status of truck and picking up. If you use Gallagher's just check their work yourself I guess!

Ended up spending a few hours here awaiting my diagnosis and tow back home with staff, Including the owners, that couldn't be any more accommodating. The diagnosis came fast, they were super courteous, and allowed me to hang around well beyond the shop closing for the day. Not a doubt in my mind that I'd return again if I were in a pinch or someone I knew needed their help.
