Dr. Rodrigues, Dr. Lei, and the rest of the staff is great. Parking is a little tight here, but location is good. We get a pet mailer that has interesting articles from Aloha vet also. We would recommend this vet for any pets and their parents. Keep doing great work! read more

So postive and you feel so welcomed when you walk in and i just love theyre enviorment

I just had to take my 8 week old puppy in because she wasn't eating and started having issues walking. They were booked when I got there but after talking to the ladies at the front desk for awhile they said they could squeeze her in. The doctor was with us shortly and quickly gave us a diagnosis then had us on our way. Everyone was so sweet and I felt extremely at ease throughout everything. I would highly recommend Aloha Vet to anyone needing a great, loving and supportive vet. read more

I had a very good experience there today, as a walk-in at 4:30 PM, no appt, dog's paw hurt and bleeding. I really liked Dr K!

In memory of Allie: We've taken our cat here for many years for checkups and it was okay. But when she got seriously sick, the service was awful. We spent hundreds of dollars in visits and medicine, only to be told "Theres nothing wrong with your cat". Allie passed away shortly afterwards peacefully at home. My advice, only take your pet here for checkups--they dont help very much for serious illnesses read more

I called on a Monday morning, hoping to get an appointment for my dog who threw up all weekend and Monday morning there was blood in it, but I was told no emergency appointments unless I'm an established client. I was not, I'm new to the island. Fortunately, 30 minutes later they called back to let me know they had a cancellation and to please bring my little dog in. The gal who had answered the phone felt so bad for our dog. We went there, waited awhile (Mondays are very busy) and then was seen by a vet, technicians, and other support staff. They were wonderful to our dog and us and we really appreciate their work to get our little girl felling better! Mahalo, Shelly read more

Last time i was here I waited over an hour before my dogs were seen. 260$ later my dog STILL has an ear infection.

Dr R is a horrible vet. He rushes through the visit every time, in and out in minutes but you wait over a half an hour every time. I'm done with him. He said my kitten was very seriously ill, but when I went for a second opinion somewhere else that vet said she was normal. He recommended an expensive specialist on the other side of the island which is why i decided to get a second opinion, glad I did. I think he's incompetent. They also reuse syringes and take back (refund you $) unused pill medicines to use on pets there I was told. Is that even legal? And the place is filthy, I had fleas jumping on my ankle. Unfortunately not many choices here. read more

I can't thank the staff enough that was a part of saving our sweet mini senior Doxie's life. She was attacked by a pit bull while we were at one of the parks in Hilo. The dog had tore a huge chunk of skin out of our sweet Midgy's neck exposing her jugular. We were frantic as we ran away with her in our arms to our car to find a vet. We normally use Dr. Horvath who is an amazing mobile vet, but because we were in Hilo and she was over an hour away with another patient, she was not an option. We first called Hilo Pet Hospital where they told us they were too busy and she wasn't a patient of theirs, so they were not willing to help her. I couldn't even fathom a vet not willing to help. The next one we tried was closed on the day it happened. We next called Aloha Vet Center and told them what had happened and asked if we could bring her. They said absolutely. I told them we would be there in about 5 minutes and they said okay. We actually made it in 3 minutes and they were ready and waiting at the door for us. Dr. Lei and staff were attending to her the second we got there and rushed her into emergency surgery. They saved our sweet girl's life. We couldn't have spared any more time and they were so professional and helpful. Our Midgy had to stay overnight and we were able to have her home today...the next day. We were hesitant to come here because of other reviews. Aloha Vet ended up being our only option, and I'm so thankful it ended up that way. I'm so sorry for the ones who had a bad experience, but I'm so thankful we ended up at Aloha Vet. We are forever thankful and grateful to them. They were so very kind, understanding and patient with us, who were a panicked, fearful, emotional mess. They not only helped Midgy, but also helped us get through the ordeal. For anyone that had an appointment yesterday, 1-11-17, we are so sorry and thankful to you as well. Dr. Lei was running late because she was saving our sweet girl's life. Thank you to everyone that was involved in saving our girl read more

I would give a five star but sadly four only because of the wait time is way too long. Expect to wait at least an hour to hour and a half after your initial appointment. I tried to think maybe the doc was behind with emergency but nope. It happens everytime. And you will literally only have 5 min with the doc. Other than that I love the friendly service and the workers and doctors who really care about animals. Two of my dog are under the care of dr lei and dr Rodriguez. They are both caring. Price is reasonable. Except for the ursine analysis. The plain dip stick test for my dog costs $32. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who wants a caring vet for their animal. read more

Terrible experience!!!They need to take Aloha out of the name and compassionate off their slogan.....Long wait time on hold....wait for your prescription till the next day....next day still waiting....over priced....charge for everything....even to write out the prescription.....which should be included with the cost of an office visit....Booo read more

First impression wasn't good. Dr Rodriguez had a nice manner about him but felt there was alot of push to pay for unnecessary things. I did go back later that year to Dr. Kapust and will stay with this hospital as long as she is there. So compassionate and has current knowledge of her field (some vets very old school). The front staff and tech staff are also some of the friendliest I have met and they seem to know and care about your animals as much as the vets. read more

Aloha Vet. Center have been taking care of my families' pets for over 20 years. The staff and doctors are Excellent and well trained. I feel confident that my pets will be well taken care of and my pets feel comfortable at ALOHA's facility. Pets are like humans, all medical professionals, doctors and their staff perform their utmost best in providing mental and physical care for their patients. They cannot save them all. Get ready to wait in a dirty facility that throws hidden charges at you upon check out. First off it took me 7 calls over a 5 day period just to reach a live person and not a voicemail service to schedule my second appointment. If you do leave a voicemail, it is not returned. It is frightening to think that you can't reach any live person in the case of an emergency. First visit: 1 hour wait after scheduled appointment. Second visit: 1 hour wait after scheduled appointment only to tell me that they couldn't help me because their staff were too busy and to come back the next day. Third visit, THREE HOUR WAIT with $68 in additional hidden charges that they did not disclose ahead of time after I was given the total breakdown prior to any procedures. When I tried to refute the difference I was told that is what their charges are despite the quote I was given. All that time spent in the waiting room and you hear stories. It sounded a lot like this is the kind of facility that makes your pet more sick so they can throw crazy charges at you. I spoke with one person who brought their 7 year old dog in for a neuter and ended up almost loosing their dog with a $3,000.00 bill due to an "allergic reaction to antibiotics." Another person said they lost their dog after having to bring him in for "daily transfusions" for over a month! If you love your pet, I would avoid this place completely. read more

If I could select zero stars, I would. I brought my pet here and first of all, it was crazy busy. They obviously knew nothing about time management and scheduling because they were hours behind schedule and everyone was frantic. All the workers seemed stressed out especially one lady they called "Ally". I don't know what happened but I heard she made a comment saying, "SOME receptionists I have!" This shows she does not care about her staff at all, I don't know if she's the manager or what but she sure didn't act like any kind of leader I've ever seen. I saw Dr. R and his eyes were glazed over and I saw no compassion in his face whatsoever. Definitely not a man I ever want near my dog ever again. The other thing is that the place was very dirty, smelled awful, and I saw no sanitary precautions. I don't know how this business is running with what I've seen from one visit. Terrible place, I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy... Taking all my pets back to the Pet Hospital. read more

I felt scammed by this place and here is why. I brought my two puppies for a check up and was told they both had umbilical hernias and both needed surgery. I was told I would get an estimate. That never happened. I had to go back and ask for an estimate. When I was given an estimate by the receptionist the price seemed reasonable. So I booked the appointment. When I went in for the surgery the price quoted for one dog was about 100 dollars more than what the intial quote as it included many other charges that should have been included in the first quote. For the other dog they wanted 200 hundred dollars more and at first could not explain why. Finally upon my insistence they said the hernia was larger and would cost more but never bothered to call me to inform me of that so I could decide to proceed or not. This price increase was made by Dr Rodriguez, who was not the vet that actually saw my dogs on their intial visit, but made this decision based on paperwork. They also tried to talk me into an additional 90 dollars per dog charge for special care and introvenous drip that was unnecessary . To make matters worse they said drop off the dog at 7 am to 7:30 am. I showed up at 7 and the first staff showed up at 7 :45. She said she couldn't help me and to wait for the receptionist. I asked when that would be and she said "well she should be here already". Why tell clients to bring the dog and not be open to receive them at the suggested time is beyond me. At 7:50 a receptionist did show up. After all this I decided not to do the surgery. I went to another vet that came highly recommended and was told that the surgeries were unnecessary. One dog did not have a hernia and the other dog's purported hernia was either non existent or so small as not to be a problem. I asked what was the small lump was and she said extra tissue and not a concern. Further more during my initial visit to get their shots , the nurse took out the shot as soon as I got in the room and it was out in the open for 1/2 an hour. I know these are supposed to be kept cold. When the nurse finally returned she held the shot in her hand making it even warmer and I asked her not to as it should stay cold and instead of listening to my concerns she argued with me and kept holding it in her warm hand. When the vet arrived I voiced my concern about the shot and he got a new one and put the old warm one back in the fridge. That bothered me as the next unknowing person would get that warm shot. Why not take out the shot when it is administered instead. Seems procedures are not thought out well. Also the workers seemed stressed and very busy and the place didn't impress me as being clean compared to other vets I have been to. I very strongly do not recommend this vet clinic. It semed like it was more about the money than the care and well being of the animals. read more
