Best clinics in town! And we've been to a few. They always have the clinic feeling peaceful and stress free. They treat emergencies as such and manage your pet as if they were their own. Their prices are friendly on the wallet and give the opportunity to say yes or no to more treatments if they find it may be needed. Communication is excellent! Everyone in the office is amazing with animals. read more

Excellent, compassionate, honest, dedicated- I am so grateful to Dr. Adrian and the entire staff at Hilo Veterinary Clinic. The genuine support, expertise, and empathy for both my pup and myself as I navigated options when he got lymphoma made all the difference to us. While losing my pup has been heartbreaking, having the support of Dr. Adrian and the staff here made this loss not as terrible as it could have been. Mahalos Dr. Adrian and everyone at Hilo Veterinary Clinic, we are so lucky to have you on the Big Island! read more

I have a very reactive dog and we put off taking him to the vet because of this. but the doctors and nurses were very accommodating and once we got in the room they made sure he was comfortable and not nervous. The doctor explained everything really clearly and was very gentle with my sweet 75 pound baby. Everyone's experience may be different, but highly recommended. read more

Been here several times with not just my dogs but also rescues. They also assisted me in helping my best girl pass as she was suffering from an autoimmune disorder. The Frazier brothers are always wonderful and the staff is super sweet as well :) read more

I send everyone I can here. These doctors are fantastic with great hearts and big brains of knowledge. All treatments we have received at this vet have been very reasonable in method and pricing. read more

Came here with my fiancé, he is a Dog Whisperer. One of the dogs he had for board and train was experiencing allergic dermatitis. We were both very impressed at how down to earth, knowledgeable, and reasonably priced this clinic was. I wish more veterinary clinics were run as well as this one is. The Veterinarian brought us into the back with him and spoke to us in a very comforting and casual manner. Nothing about it felt "dressed up" or like they were trying to "nickel and dime" us the way that so many clinics are these days. Highly recommend. read more

I've seen a number of Vets in Hilo. It was really hard to find a clinic we felt consistently comfortable with. I stumbled upon Hilo Vet Clinic when referred there to get a quick X-ray. That one short visit made me want to establish care for all my pets, almost immediately. Ever since - we've had the BEST experience. Words can't describe how thankful we are for Dr Adrian and the whole staff! The GENUINE compassion and thorough open communication drew us in. Very personable and truly cares about families and their loved fur babes. Highly recommend. read more

My 11 week old puppy had gotten run over by accident. As I raced out the door to find ANY vet that would see her this was our first call down the list. Like many East Hawaii Island residents, Dr.Castro or Dr.Gruene was our go-to in the past. They were closing for lunch but stayed open to see her. From the first glance they're a "small but mighty" clinic, but you can tell that the staff works well together as a team and compassion was more than evident. As a small clinic they provided the attention she deserved and the explaining I needed as her owner. We found our new family vet and I highly recommend you give them a chance. read more

Hilo Veterinary Clinic - Ultrasound for our sweet girl. - Veterinarians Near Me - Hilo, Hawaii

Hilo Veterinarian is so caring and honestly priced. My first choice in the Hilo and Puna area for my pets

Wonderful doctors and staff. They take a personal interest in helping and getting to know our dog, Callie. Highly recommend!

We've taken 2 of our dogs here and they were indescribably great with both of them. One dog had gotten into a toad and was having seizures. Obviously we were scared and upset. They did a great job calming us and giving us the options. Fortunately it all worked out and his seizures stopped after the first dosage of the medication they gave us. They always do a great job getting to us so we're not waiting for long in the wait area. read more

I can whole heartedly say I trust this Doctors, staff n establishment 100%. I went to pick up my baby at the vet and got called to the back office. doc came in and said Meeshka surgery was good but they encountered a complication while in surgery and her heart stopped . They started CPR on her and the staff were all so concerned, rooting for her to pull through. She miraculously came back. I was wondering why when we got there everyone was carrying her n checking her. such an awesome crew so caring, loving and attentive. BIG MAHALO TO DR.ADRIAN FRAZIER and STAFF for saving our baby and going above and beyond for her. Yes the 2 doctors are twin brothers. Twin blessings I should say. My fur baby has bruised chest and her incision to heal but lots of TLC for my little old lady is exactly what she will be given. Thank you Doc Adrian Frazier, for calling to check on my baby. That meant a lot to me. read more

Took great care of our girl till the end. The entire staff is great, very caring, and doc made himself available if needed. Thank you!

A completely positive and heartwarming clinic to bring your pets to. I walked in with an injured stray that came to my door for needing surgery. They took such good care with expertise, compassion and patience explaining all I needed to know. Both the Doctors and the staff were all so kind and gave no feeling of 'this is a business' but all about truly caring. The clinic and waiting room is clean and peaceful. I'd warmly recommend anyone who needs proper attention for their pets to come here. read more

Caring , responsive & exceedingly competent. This clinic (unlike another that we patronized for years) is staffed by folks who actually care about your pet's well being and comfort. The emphasis here is on the pet and its care. Until I came here my dogs hated going to the Vet; now they're actually happy to see the doctor and staff here. read more

Amazing!! Best care from front desk to appointments. 10/10 all staff. Doctors and vet techs are all so kind and super helpful with all questions. read more

First visit for my two doggies. The positive reviews on Yelp were exactly what we experienced. Dr. Adrian Frazier presented as a calm and caring person. What I liked best about him is that he took the time to answer my questions and concerns. He also gives clients options for administering core vaccines on an annual basis or every 3 years. The clinic has a system in place for after hours or weekend emergencies (which was a concern for me). read more

The kindest and most soft spoken vets. I highly recommend them. I would recommend this vet clinic.

Our two rescue dogs had an emergency. None of the vets we called took them in because they were overbooked. Keaau Veterinary Clinic was kind enough to refer us to Hilo Veterinary Clinic, thank you. My husband and I were so happy to be accepted by them. Hilo Veterinary Clinic has new owners, Dr Kyle and Dr Adrian Frazier. Dr Adrian took very good care of our fur babies. He was very thorough, kind and caring. We are very happy to find this vet clinic. Thank you Dr Adrian. Zoe the receptionist is very nice and helpful. We love this vet clinic. read more

Dr Adrian Frazier is a kind, very caring Vet. My husband and I plus our two fur babies love him. Zoe the receptionist is also very friendly and helpful. We were turned away by so many vet clinics. Hilo veterinary clinic took our two dogs in in emergency. Thank you very much Dr Frazier! read more

After 6 years I finally found a vet that's in it for the animals and not just the money. The rest of the vets in east Hawaii island don't seem to care if your animal is suffering. You can't plan when your dog is sick or, God forbid, needs to be put down. But vets in Hawaii charge you enormous prices if you don't have an appointment. Everyone in this office has so much compassion for you and your animal. I'd like to give a shout-out to Zoe. She needs a raise guys! You'd be crazy to lose her. And the rest of you are crazy if you use any other vet in east Hawaii!!!! read more

Our fur babies love Dr. Castro and his staff. They get so excited when we drive up to the building. Whenever we've called ahead for medications it ready and waiting. They've been accommodating to our hectic schedules too. We always ask many questions pertaining to meds and health issues and both the staff and Dr. Castro answer us. Thank you Dr. Castro and staff for taking such great care of our fur babies! read more

Where is the minus one star??? Stone-faced receptionist/wife and RUDE veterinarian. Getting information is harder than pulling teeth, minimal choices of flea/tick/heartworm preventatives, and refusal to allow alternative payment options such as Care Credit and 1-800-PetMeds. "Ask them why." read more

I LOVE Dr Castro! He's caring, extremely knowledgeable, and very patient with all my questions. I've been coming to him for as long as I've lived here. My dogs have never known another vet. I can't recommend him highly enough. read more

Dr Castro and his staff are amazing! They're so down to earth. You may walk in and think that they're office isn't "fancy", but that's the beauty of their office. They use common sense. My dog suffered for several years with a skin rash and constant yeast infections, only Dr Castro was able to figure out that it was his diet. We removed poultry and sure enough, never a rash again. They are the most caring and loving vets I've ever had. They treat you and your pet as family. I recently lost my dog and the compassion and dedication they showed towards us was beyond compare. The best vet in Hilo by far!! read more

I love the way Dr. Castro and his wife care about animals. Started taking my Jax here a few years ago because my family dogs growing up always went here. Very knowledgable and just friendly people! You get the vibe that they care! read more

This is what a real vet should be like. Staff is always caring and compassionate for my animals. They also give great free advice on health issues and I feel like I always get my pets problems answered. They are located right behind Big Island Candy main store. Easy parking and even a place for my dog to relieve herself before going in. Also my wait time is usually 0 minutes. read more

Dr. Castro and his wife Ann have been caring for my dogs since 2004. Dr. Castro has always been very attentive and focused, renewing his acquaintance with the dogs first before giving them a thorough exam. None of my three dogs has ever had the slightest fear or trepidation about going to visit Dr. Castro. He has uncovered serious issues other than the original issue I made the appointment for, and he has gone out of his way, as has Ann, in emergency situations in their efforts to save my dog's lives. Dr. Castro is both cautious, and expedient, as each situation demands, and I am thoroughly happy and grateful for the care he has provided my dogs. It is a great relief for any pet owner to know that their animals are in the best of hands, and Boyd and Ann Castro have excelled at providing that comfort. read more

Dr. Castro and staff are awesome! He treats his customers fairly; I never feel taken advantage of. He doesn't push products or procedures. He is very helpful and explains things thoroughly. He doesn't mind answering questions. His staff is super friendly! I love this place! read more

Dr Castro has been our vet since moving to the island about 9 years ago. We have always received excellent care for our pets. Dr Castro and his wife have always been great and super helpful. When one of our pets became very ill and suffered seizures, Ann quickly got us in. Later, after a diagnosis of a brain tumor, they were very compassionate and when we made the decision to let her go rather than suffer any more, Dr Castro sat beside me and cried along with me as he walked me through what to expect. When our other pet developed diabetes, he worked with us on adjusting her medications (she had a worsening heart murmur as well), and had us submit a weekly report via email on her glucose levels and he would call us personally if he thought we needed to make a change. When her condition worsened and we made the decision to let her go, he and Ann were both comforting and compassionate, and sad they could not do more. They treated both of our babies as their own and we could not be happier to have them as our veterinarian. They are like family to us. read more

As far as WooHoo...it isn't good enough! Ann and Boyd are absolutely THE BEST! We are moving back to the mainland and will miss them very much. Hope we can find a vet that is Half as Good! Peri & Phil Aplin read more

I have been coming to Dr. Castros office for about 5 years, for my dads 3 pets and 1 year for my husband and I's cat and dog. Today we went in to get our pets their health certificates for travel and also for flea and worm medicine. When we arrived, Dr. Castro's receptionist/wife told us very rudely that they were booked for the whole month and could not do it. She told us to go to The Pet Hospital. My husband and I went there and made the appointment for our furr babies. The receptionist there was so sweet and helpful. Afterwards, we went back to Dr. Castros because we had forgotten to buy the flea and worm medicine. The receptionist (large Asian woman) was so down right mean it was unbelievable. She kept saying (very rudely while rolling her eyes) that I am not in their system. She said if I don't have my pets in their system, she can't help us. I was just there for my pets medicine a month ago! She typed my maiden name and then my new married name, she refused to say she found me in their system but I know I was in there. My husband and I explained the weight and age (cat 12 pounds, dog is 8) of our pets to her and she started yelling back saying "what the thing is it a dog or a cat? Dog or a cat???? They are NOT both 8 pounds!!!" She started snapping like a crazy person about something we never even said. I repeated very calmly what I said earlier and she started slamming objects on the table and huffing and puffing. I told my husband "wow, how many times do we have to say the same thing." And she said "I won't even sell to you if you're gonna have an attitude!!" I just said mhm. After she sold us the flea and worm medicine-- and the rudest customer service experience my husband and I have ever experienced, my husband told her that her approach is not the way to get repeat customers... And I continued to tell her to watch her attitude. If you're reading this, miss receptionist, I hope you work on how you treat other people. Your husband didn't go to medical school just to have you run his business into the ground. Check yourself. Do NOT recommend this horrible place. read more
