I took my perfectly healthy dog to be kenneled at Shear Magic. A few hours later they called me up and said she had slipped on their wet floor and she would not get up, so I had to come get her. Luckily I was just on the other side of the island so I came back and picked her up. She was very wobbly and could barely use her legs. She went downhill from there and I took her to the vet a day later. The vet did not find any big problems but she really went downhill from there and she died less than a week later. read more

Brought my small dog into Sheer Magic at petco, I told them I'm from Volcano so am just here waiting for my dog and asked, when will he be done? The girl working there said about 4 hours. I said that I've brought him in there several times before and it was about one and a half hours all my other times. She said I'll text you when he's done. Well after 3 hours I was near petco so I stoped in to see when he would be done waiting at the counter twice to asked both times no one cam to the counter so I walked around the mall again and came back in and I saw they were just starting on him. After he was done I picked him up and pain $102. She said "if you want him to be done in an hour and a half you'll have to pay an extra $25 dollars". I said don't worry I won't be back. I brought my dog to the car and looked at the new shirt I was wearing and it was full of hair and put him in my car seat and hair was everywhere. I thought they would vacuum him when my dog was done....I guess not. read more

I am so grateful for Nichole and Karen at Shear Magic. My Ollie, a 2.5-year-old Shih Tzu/Maltese, has severe anxiety when it comes to grooming. He doesn't like to be touched in the face or paws, and he can be a lot of trouble for his groomers. Over the last two years, between the Petco and the Kanoelehua locations, Shear Magic has worked with me with regular scheduling and pairing Ollie with the right groomer to maximize efficiency and minimize stress for my already highly-anxious fur baby. They have gone to extra lengths to accommodate Ollie's needs. And... Without a comb, brush, or shears in their hands, Ollie loves his groomers. When we arrive, they are always kind and caring, while cautious of his temperament as they ease him into the salon. To be honest, I would be understanding if the salon had told me that they are unable to groom Ollie because of his nasty behavior, but they haven't given up on him. My mini golden doodle gets matted at the base of her curly hair. After staying with my son's family for three months, she looked like she had been working on dreadlocks. I couldn't get a comb or detangler rake through her hair, so took her to Shear Magic for a shave. They did such a good job on her - left the hair on her ears longer, so she still looked cute. And it feels so soft to pet her now, when before, it felt like a pebbly rug. I will gladly take her there again when her hair grows out. read more

I recently thought I made an appointment with Shear Magic and I called on the day to confirm and they didn't have my appointment but were kind enough to fit me in! This was my mistake not theirs. They did an amazing job on our dog. He looked great and I could tell they take great care with their clients. Highly recommended. They will become our go to salon moving forward. Took my dog to shear magic before they were even located in Petco. Terrible experience. When I went to pick up my dog he was all traumatized. They couldn't even catch him to pass him to me. They had to open the door that leads to the grooming area and I had to call his name, and he came running to me. He had nicks all over his body also not sure if their buzzer clippers were clean. My dog developed a bacteria infection on his body. That took one whole year of going to the vet. To get his bacteria infection cleared up. Hopefully they improved. So that other pet owners don't ever have to go through the same experience. That we went through. read more

My mom took her aging Maltese here to be groomed. The upside is that he came home mat free and clean. Anal glands expressed and nails trimmed. The downside is that he didn't get his fur trimmed to meet my mom's expectations. Now, I know that she has pretty high expectations since in her younger days she used to be a groomer herself, but she's talking about uneven fur around his muzzle, ears and tail left untrimmed, etc. I'm hoping she'll be able to bring him back in the next few days and have him fixed up without complications since she doesn't have the tools to do it herself anymore. Added another star! Yay! I'm glad to be able to do that - the staff called to arrange for a do over. They were really pleasant and understanding and are having a different groomer take care of things early next week. read more

8/27/22. After calling Petco for dog training, I was informed to contact Shear Magic (SM) because they oversee the training. I reviewed 'Shear Magics' website, the site list Petco #, dog training plans and cost. I then called SM, the receptionist requested I contact Petco, I informed the receptionist that Petco directed me to SM and that the SM website also list dog training plans & cost; this must have flustered the receptionist as she asked another co-worker for the Petco # for dog training, they were not able to provide. The receptionist requested that I be placed on hold while she gets the dog training #, I waited, they hung up on me ........! read more

John (at Petco the branch) always does the best job with our dog, Arnie, a nearly 15 year old Toy Poodle/Bichon Frise mix (aka Poochon aka Bischpoo). Best groomer we've ever had. Even nailed my oddly specif instruction for Arnie's cut today; short poodle puppy/summer cut but a little more Bichon in the face. And that's what he came home looking like. And you can tell he genuinely cares, so we trust leaving our dog with him. We've also boarded Arnie with Shear Magic by the airport and always had a great experience. Since Arnie is older and weighs 10 pounds, they had him with another small dog, Princess, hanging out in a room together. We feel comfortable leaving our dog here. Excellent deshedding for my 55 lb border collie mix. After the session, lots of fur was still flying, but weeks later i really notice a reduction in shedding. Tabitha is amazing, and my dog really seems to enjoy her time spent there. The groomers genuinely care about the animals they work with and wont force something that makes the pet truly fearful, in my dogs case, the sanitary trim... we'll try again next time. I called 3 times and spoke to 2 different people over the period of 2 weeks however no one ever calls back to schedule so this review is not about quality of grooming but sadly can't even get a phone call back to schedule . This is heaven for dogs. The grooming staff is incomparably professional and skilled, and the kennel crew are knowledgeable and my dog loves them to an extent that makes me a little jealous. This review is based on their furminating and grooming service. Don't go here for furminating. They say that they furminate, but all they do is triple brush with 2 regular brushes and 1 hand brush. We took our 9 year old Australian Shepherd here. She gets groomed at least once every six months at a dog groomers, and this was the worst outcome we've seen. Shortly after bringing her back, we found little tufts of her hair everywhere and had to vac and sweep multiple times. It was as though we didn't just bring her back from the groomers. I called back the next day to let them know how disappointing the results were. They let me make an appointment in a couple days to bring her back in. After this second visit, there was improvement, but she still had noticeable shedding, even in the groomer's lobby. Asked about their process and learned they do not furminate. They triple brush. There IS a difference. Afterwards, we furminated her at home for five minutes and still got a considerable amount of fur off of her...after she was already "furminated" twice by them. This place does not furminate, though the say they do. Also, they are considerably more expensive than other groomers who actually do furminate. The groomer was very nice and apologetic, but in the end, we paid for a service we didn't receive. read more

1st time here and I gottah say very impressed. The employees are professional and it's very clean. These guys offer a variety of pet services from grooming, boarding and even dog training at reasonable prices. They take extra care that their facility is flea and tick free with thorough screening of each pet that walks though their door. If your pet has fleas they will treat your pet before anything else. They also treat your pet with uttermost care and kindness. Best pet services I've seen so far any where. I will diff recommend and be back! Impressed with Mahinas haircut too:) read more

Always took my dogs to Sheer Magic because Maki does a good job grooming them. She takes the time to ask how I would like their fur to be cut and upon pick up she verifies if there is anything I'd like to be fixed. I would definitely recommend this groomer to friends/family. I would have rated them 5 stars but I was not informed that grooming services are done out of another location. Suggestion: workers who take calls for appointments should inform customers that their grooming services have moved to Petco (111 E. Puainako St). They should not assume that the customer knows. I also recommend they update the website and text reminders should indicate the new location as well. read more

Super staff. This is based upon having my American Eskimo groomed which is not recommended. I know this. It was comforting that they were aware of shaving a dog with two coats and he's a senior too. I called early on a Monday needing an appointment asap. They got me in. They didn't just get me in right away; they did a fantastic job under the time quoted. I wish I remembered the specific groomers name because she deserves a shout out. I really like the location. It was easy in and out. They board and day sit too. Great job all around. read more

My dog absolutely loved day care! We brought him in for four hours to get him aquatinted with the environment and staff before we have to board him later this year for my wedding. I had to catch him to leave! The place is clean and the staff obviously love animals. He enjoyed playing with the other dogs, and he was sooooo tired when he got home! I've used Shear Magic for walk-in nail trims numerous times. I pay a little extra for the dremeling too, to prevent chipping, which my vet does not do. Nail trim with dremeling costs around $20 with virtually no wait- they take you for nail trim right away. They pay special attention, when asked, to broken nails that you come in with. They are gentle, clean, organized, and fast. I love their dog safety gate at the front door to prevent escape mishaps- very smart. Easy location right by airport. read more
