I have some mixed emotions about this place. The girl who did my nails seemed like she was just in a rush and kept trying to say I needed to relax my hands because she couldn't see which was bullshit because I was more than relaxed to where she could do whatever she needed to do. Since I live within a walking distance from this nail salon, I came here to remove my gel/shellac polish that I had gotten done in NYC. Yes, the place was orderly and well managed but I did not feel welcomed at all the moment I stepped foot into the door. Maybe because I was only getting my polish removed, but the nail tech was not even friendly and seemed to not pay much attention to me. My nails were soaked in nail polish remover for about 5 minutes or so. Then she continued to buff the remaining polish off. Finally, she told me to go wash my hands. I though she was going to continue cleaning my nails and at least lotion my hands or something so I sat back in my seat. She came over and asked "Do you want a clear coat or something?" So I said, "Um, there's still polish on the edges of my nails." This was when she muttered something in Vietnamese to another nail tech next to her. I could have went ballistic on her but I chose to stay calm. So I ended up paying $5 and gave her a $1 tip, which is a 20% tip. She didn't even say thank you or anything when I left. RUDE. Never ever coming back here again for these reasons: she didn't: a) properly clean all the polish off my nails b) lotion my hands c) offer to cut my nails (which had grown pretty long since I had the gel on for 2 weeks) d) RUDE, no "thank you" when I Ieft. read more

This was the worst and fastest pedicure/manicure ever. The quality was beneath substandard. It was as if I was watching someone mime through the motions and never really doing anything or touching my toes or fingers. I believe they were upset because I asked for non latex gloves due to an allergy I have. They didn't have any. From that point forward it was rush rush rush. Since my move to Durham, this has been my go-to pedicure place. Prices are reasonable. The deluxe pedicure is worth the extra money but their standard service is great as well. The staff is friendly, and they provide a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. They are also very gentle but get the job done well! This establishment is stupendous about cleanliness and line their tubs, which is more than a lot of nail salons I've been to can say. It is also well ventilated so you don't feel like you're sitting in a nail polish factory. The staff is very unfriendly, borderline rude. You walk in and basically have to cause a small scene to get someone's attention. The staff will turn around from doing pedicures after about 5 minutes and look annoyed, as if your business is unwelcome. They brusquely tell you to get a seat--and you can be waiting for up to 30 minutes. The facilities are fine, clean, and comfortable, but the people are so unpleasant that it makes the entire experience untenable. Also, getting a eyebrow, lip, or chin wax here is NOT A GOOD IDEA. The wax wasn't cleanly done--my eyebrow shape was good, but the wax broke some hairs halfway and gave me bumps on my upper lip. That hasn't happened since I was a teenager! The whole experience is very harried and you can tell the staff barely want you there. I got a French manicure here and it lasted for about 3 days. Very cheap. The only time I went back here was because Luxury Nail Spa (which is 5 minutes away and much better) is closed on Sundays. read more

A lady told my friend to put her finger in some kinda nail polisher and that burned her finger.. They finally came but with no sign to help. I was a bit skeptical about this place at first, but since I was desperate for a gel mani and pedi, and this was the only one that was close to campus, I decided to give it a try. The interior is cheap and tries to pass off as luxurious, but really isn't. Sanitation is dubious. But I've been happy with all the manis/pedis I've received here. Gel mani is always reliable and looks good; there is a great color selection. Normally I just walk in and wait for about 20-30 minutes. I was looking for a nice clean place with a great mani/pedi experience for my young daughter. I have to say, Allure did not disappoint and we have been back again and again since. The only thing keeping me from giving them five stars is consistency. It really depends on who you have that determines the quality of your visit. Definitely my favorite tech is Sonny. He is friendly and very skilled. The pedicure chairs are very comfortable. They always have a nice variety of magazines to read. I love the scrubs and the calf massages..............to die for! And the salon has a relaxing feel to it. My piggies usually have a nice long-lasting polish to them. My fingernails seems to last long enough--anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks depending on how rough I am with them. Sure, parking is a bit sketchy sometimes, but I have never had to circle for too long to grab a spot. I don't live close by but it's definitely worth the drive for a relaxing pampering. read more

I went there this afternoon to try out a new place since my old nail salon disappointed me one too many times. My acrylics were lifting so Cindy recommended I got a new set. I'm so glad I did! They look fabulous! She was very pleasant but didn't talk my ear off like a lot of technicians do. I don't even understand why some people complain if the tech doesn't have a full-on convo with them.. You are there to relax and get pampered, not exchange life stories. The only thing I didn't like was the parking but that obviously isn't the salons fault. Really great experience and will certainly be back! read more

I had a really enjoyable pedicure here. I walked in and was pleasantly surprised to be seen immediately even though there were several clients. The pedicure included a lot of fun additions like hot towels and fun lotions that cost extra at other salons I've been to. Everyone working there was really friendly and the ambiance is great. I had a pedicure here... I would definitely go back for another one! I called about 15 minutes ahead, and someone was ready for me when I arrived. The staff is very friendly and polite, and the atmosphere was relaxed and quiet. I really hate when nail salon staff chatter amongst themselves while you're there to relax. There was no blaring TV either, so I could lean back, relax, and actually read and check email while enjoying the massage chair. The one downside I noticed was that their basic nail polish selection (not OPI gels) could use some freshening up! The colors were mostly dull reds and pinks, and there weren't many exciting choices for those of us who like a bright or unusual color. I did find one cute teal, but you might want to bring your own...or get gels. read more

Very nice environment but the service makes me not want to go back. It seems like they are very friendly...until after you pay. I was very pleased with the setting in the beginning. Once the guy asked me to pay, I did, left a tip and he proceeded to finish my nails. After that, I could barely get him to say two words. Then, I said thank you several times and he never responded. I am soooo disappointed in the acrylic set that I got done there. I usually only pay $20 for a full set at other locations but because this was the closest I thought I'd give it a go and hope that the extra $5 would be worth it. It wasn't. 1) First of all, there's a length limit on acrylics before you get charged an extra $5. So basically if you want to pay the $25 that an acrylic set is advertised for, they have to be really, really short which is the biggest reason I am so disappointed in this set. There's no length limit at other salons I've been to so I was really surprised when I was told that if I wanted to pay regular price my nails would have to be short (they're less than half an inch from cuticle to tip). What is this?!?!? 2) I showed the technician a picture of the shape I wanted (nothing too complicated. Basically just slightly tapered or "coffin" nails) and it just turned out sooo wrong. I don't think any of my nails are the same shape. Some of them look like they're leaning a certain direction because they were so unevenly filed and shaped. So so so disappointed in this set and I feel like I completely wasted my money here. I know I could have paid less elsewhere and gotten a really solid set. Now I wish I had instead of trying this place out! The only plus I'd say is that they have a big selection of high end polishes (OPI, Essie etc) and that the place seemed to be pretty clean. It has been my first and my last time at Allure Nail Spa. The personnel was terribly impolite and unwelcoming: as they were all Asian, they way of speaking was completely ununderstandable to me, as a non-native speaker. Nonetheless, instead of being kind and more accurate, they persisted in laughing and chatting among themselves in their language. Pedicure was ok, but no professionalism or competence at all. Apart from me, their way of working consists in continuous chatting and talking in their language, thus giving the customers the idea that they are saying something about them. Otherwise they would not need to use their native language. And anyone knows that it is a very impolite and rude behaviour to use your own language in presence of other language speakers. My friend was coming into town for a girlie day and we decided to get a pedicure. I looked at several reviews and Allure Nail Spa had the best reviews, so we decided to go there. We looked at their website and noticed that they had a special for a manicure and pedicure for $35.00 and decided to go ahead and do both. When we got there, there was no wait since it was a Monday afternoon. We were told to pick out a color, and man they had extensive color choices. We went to the pedicure station first. The pedicure area was just beautiful and relaxing; there was a trellis with ivy hanging from it and very comfortable leather chairs that you sat in that massaged you while your feet were being done. The gentleman that I had did a very good job massaging my legs and making sure he did a very thorough and neat job, which was very hard in my case since my toe nails were very small. What I really appreciated was when he finished he made sure he got my feet in my shoes without my nail polish being messed up. The nails were done very thoroughly as well and well worth the extra $10.00. I even accidentally messed up two of my nails on the fan and he was very patient and fixed my nails back with no complaint. After we got our nails done, they made sure to move our purses to the drying station for us so we did not mess up our nails. Overall, they were very friendly, but not over talkative, patient and very thorough and did a wonderful job! I will definitely come back and recommend it for someone else. Pretty average in most ways. I made an appointment the day before going in. Everything seemed pretty rushed and the guy doing my nails didn't really put much effort into the whole process. My cuticles weren't even cut (which is my favorite part) so I was bummed... But my nails look pretty fine. A few spots here and there that could be better but overall they're fine. When you get your nails done u expect a few things to not go perfectly, but you should expect the people doing your nails to b receptive of comments or requests to fix or change them. Not here. If the aren't already speaking to the other coworkers in a language you don't speak (Vietnamese) expect them to start. Blame every mistake they make on your finger being crooked , you touching your nails, or your opinion is just WRONG. You will get attitude if u say anything or ask for something to b fixed.
