I came here by accident but ended up getting a gel manicure. This is the only gel manicure that I've gotten that lasted 3 weeks without chipping! And I got the gel manicure on my natural nail. read more

Sonny gives the best foot massages ever. Ever ever ever. Highly recommend him. He's pretty muscular, so it's easy to think that he would be a more intimidating and inept nail technician. But, he's just the opposite -- super friendly, easy to talk to about anything, and he does a good job of making your toes pretty. He's just like a good hair dresser -- helps get your mind off of life's pressures and makes you relax. Except he does nails. :) read more

Ditto Christina - the parking lot here can get cra-zy during lunch! Its narrow, and not too spacious - but they seem to have a "deck parking" somewhere that I have yet to see. I thought the place was really comfortable, with a big screen TV that you can see from the pedi chairs - and they had ample space to be had. The ladies there were entertaining, and were open to whatever service you need. They had my favorite silver color of the season, so I got that applied to my tootsies and fingers. The pedi itself has lasted well, I'd say they did a great job on that. My mani however, didn't make it through the week without chipping. read more

5 stars for pedicure, 2 stars for manicure. Pedicure was awesome! They have a great selection of essie and OPI colors. Comfy and seemingly clean chairs under a leafy trellis. A really thorough massage and scrub, as well as a hot towel. Manicure was fine... until she cut my thumb with the nail buffer block! I think she was getting hurried and careless. When I showed her the cut, just below the cuticle, which was starting to bleed, she didn't really react. I went to wash my hands, and when I came back, she had pulled out a blue liquid to drop on it -- I had to ask her first was it was (antiseptic), and man, did it burn. So yeah, this soured the rest of the experience. So I guess I might go back for a pedicure, but I don't think I'd get my hands done here again. I wish that I had stopped at the pedicure -- then this review would have been 5 stars for sure! read more

No. No. No. No. ...No. Ok, so quickly let's get the 'pro's out of the way. Pro: If you like gel manicures they have a pretty big selection of colors and they use the super fast drying/healthier LED lamps. They also do foil wraps for removal instead of just a soak. Cons: My manicurist sucked. I felt like she was super rushing the whole time, did a really poor job on my cuticles and the paint came out uneven, on my fingers, and my nails weren't even completely clean of powder from filing when she started painting them. The edge of some of my nails are rough, and she went to fix two fingers by filing off the paint (including some of the basecoat) and went to simply paint the nail color over it. All in all, this was one of the shittiest gel manicures I've ever had. Never mind that she answered her cell phone three times while giving me my manicure, which was ..delightfully fast at a mere 35 minutes? I was in the area, but wow, I won't ever stray from my usual salon again. read more

I went to this nail salon primarily because it was close and convenient--right across from my apartment complex and right next to Chipotle. I got a gel manicure and regular pedicure, and both were mediocre. For $55+ (depending on your design), I expected that both were at least above average. In the end, my nails look like I could have done them--jagged edges of nail polish along the cuticle line, nail polish unevenly painted on, the tips of my nails are not painted aka will probably start chipping soon... My personal opinion is that the nail technicians here are not as experienced as some of the techs at the other salons. For example, I wanted to glitter my gel manicure and the nail tech applied the glitter so unevenly that all 10 fingers looked different. In the end, driven by purely her mistake, she had to do my nails over again and probably starting talking about me and my nails in Vietnamese to the nail tech next to her. I mean, come on... I understand your frustration, and my poor nails have to endure another acetone soak and buffing, etc... but have some class and at least talk about it after I have left! I feel like this is the temperament of all the nail techs who work at this salon. Customer service is not high on their priority list, and their motto seems to be "JUST GET IT DONE AND LEAVE." They definitely do not go that extra mile (or extra 1/2 mile) to make you feel comfortable, relaxed, and welcome. Lastly, the MAIN reason why I would not come back here is because it is not sanitary. After the foot soaks, they spray a homemade "detergent" and rinse the tubs out with water. And, their tools have leftover nail bits from the customer before you. Although they do "sanitize" by putting their tools in the UV oven, the turnover is too quick (nail techs constantly go to the over to grab a tool) and I don't believe that the tools have been properly disinfected. All in all, an unsatisfactory experience. Do yourselves a favor--pay about $10, drive about 1 mile further, and go to a better salon. read more

This place is really fabulous! The atmosphere leaves a bit to be desired, but if you get a good mani/pedi who cares!? Decent (and CURRENT) magazine selections are a bonus. I made an appointment for 12:30 on a Saturday and I had to wait when I got there, but only for a little bit. They are the most busy on the weekend, so if you want to avoid a crowd come during the week. I parked in the parking garage, which was open (not sure what that's like during the week). They were able to give me the mani/pedi within 90 minutes. A near record for salons in the area! The job was a little bit sloppy, there was polish on the sides of my finger nails. But I scraped it off later and I was good-to-go. The polish on my hands lasted a full week and the leg and hand massage was just great. read more

Tina is amazing! (Tiny girl with super cute short hair). I got my first gel nails. She was so meticulous and took her time. She was so sweet and engaging. My nails look Great! She talked me into getting my eyebrows waxed (I'm Italian and never have done it before!). It was awesome. She converted me. The place is clean and I was able to walk right in. read more

Allure Nail Spa - Nail Salons Near Me - Durham, North Carolina

There are some pretty bad reviews on here about Allure, but I think they do a pretty good job. I came and got a pedicure and gel polish change during my lunch, and my experience was pleasant. I had a man technician (not sure what his name is); he paid close attention to detail and took his time, but wasn't slow. He was quiet but very kind and fulfilled my needs. The only complaint I have is that I asked for a gel manicure, but I just got a polish change, which is annoying, but no big deal because it saved me some money. :) I'll come back here in the future. read more

Oh how I enjoy my time at Allure Nail Spa! Noland and Ginny are two of the nicest people on the planet. I visited another nail salon for years and would leave there so stressed out. Not the case at Allure Nail. You walk in and are greeted by everyone who calls you by name. I come away feeling relaxed and with beautiful nails. Their work is superior and the friendly atmosphere is the icing on the cake. Thank you Allure Nail for making me feel special every time I enter your business. read more

I just moved to the area and was looking for an easy to get to and well priced nail salon, and was very happy with this find! If you are one of those people that wants to relax while getting your nails done, but you also don't want to waste your entire day getting a no chip mani and pedi, this spot was great, reasonably priced and and I was in and out within an hour with my appointment. They even had double no chip dryers on both sides of the nail station which makes the drying part even faster! They have multiple pedicure chairs and a pretty big team of people working here which is how they can be so efficient with their appointments and everything, which I particularly loved. They have lots and lots of color options, a waiting area in the center of the salon in case you have to wait or bring someone else with you, and parking is easy since it is located in a small strip type of mall. There are some food spots next door too in case you want to make this more of an outing, but all in all, I was very happy with my time here and I will definitely be back! read more

SUMMARY: Very nice pedicure! FULL STORY: Had a regular polish pedicure here, and overall happy with it. Scheduled same-day on a weekend. Polish selection is good - plenty to choose from and most of them were in good shape (very few were getting thick or dry). They use the tub liners and sanitized instrument packs. The water stayed nice and hot. At this very reasonable price point ($27 for regular pedi), I was impressed by the massage and treatments. Really nice massage, scrub, oil, hot stones, hot towels, etc. The polish job wasn't rushed or messy. Maybe not the warmest welcome or the fanciest place (not offered a drink or those special extras), but it's very pleasant and got the legs looking and feeling good! Note: It's in the plaza with the UPS read more

I've came here twice for SNS/dip powder and each time it was very well done. I had two different technicians but both were very professional. I also have never had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seen so that's also a plus! read more

Well for starters, the location is perfect. I went at 12pm after going to chipotle (perfect) and there was no wait and I was greeted at the door and immediately put in a chair. I came for a Mani-pedi. There salon is very clean, pretty and spa-like with the pedicure chairs under a wooden canopy like structure and vines all along. The chairs are comfy but the massage functions are very basic but I guess that is everywhere. So most importantly, the mani-pedi was average. The technician seemed unconcerned and sloppy. My polish has bubbles in it an after waiting for it to dry it just looked bad. I told one of the guys ( who seems to do a better job) and he told the girl to do it over. They added acetone to the polish and redid it. It still wasn't a perfect polish job but I just wanted to leave at that point. Everythime I go to a nail salon I'm disappointed by sloppy work. I will just do it myself. However I have heard that sonny is the best and he was in the shop today and was given this woman a nice long leg massage. Her polish looked great too. Long story short, it depends on the technician. read more

3 stars for the nail salon, 4.5 salons for my manicurist, Jennifer. $35 for a mani/pedi, I usually do the $50 for a pedicure/gel manicure (the gels are worth it, trust me). I go to this salon in particular due to the location near my house (right off Erwin Road) and because my better half frequently gets me gift cards there. I would say as a salon it's pretty generic- nothing special, usually a long wait on weekend, clean, pick out your color from the wall... exactly what you would expect from a run of the mill nail place. I frequently wait 30 minutes even with an appointment, so if you plan on checking them out, call ahead. And bring reading material. Despite the salon, I really like my manicurist, Jennifer. She only works on Sundays (but had mentioned she is at a sister salon, Luxury Nails, on other days). I feel like Jennifer has a great eye for detail and leaves me with a great manicure and pedicure. Plus she knows when you're in the mood to be chatty, and when you want to hunker down with your kindle. Overall if you aren't shopping for a new nail salon, no reason to switch. But if you're looking for one or a regular manicurist, I would check them out. read more

Eh, not as bad as I was expecting after reading the reviews :) Like... the reviews scared me about their color selection, but I think it's fine! I added a pic. It's $13... which is pricier than SF!.. but it's all good cuz: * without a reservation, the wait was only 15 minutes the Friday the weekend of Graduation/Mother's day. They were totally attentive and on top of logistics * they have these warm, heated up mittens to put your lotion rubbed nails in * they have individual rolled up towels for you to dry your hands with * they have a nice waiting area.. tv with captions.. magazines... and a lot of eateries nearby It's true, hard to find parking. I did a jog to the salon through Duke (couple minutes away) and had someone pick me up. The painting quality was so-so. A detail is that I can't tell if it's my nails that are wavy, or the polish that didn't dry evenly. read more

The ownership was recently changed here and it's totally adorable and the staff members are all great! I followed the new owner (Brian) over here from where he worked before along with another nail tech (Tammie), both of which I've become close with. Yes, i seriously commute here from North Raleigh. You won't find a funnier and more close-knit group than here at Allure, not to mention their great color selection and quality products and services. read more

Yelp describes 2 stars as "Meh. I've experienced better." and unfortunately it would probably be fairly easy to find something better. I just returned from the salon, and the following pictures have been taken 20min after I got my nails done. The worst part is the awful job on the cuticles, as that's the reason I get my nails done in the first place. They're just not cleanly done... Plus, there is nail polish around my nails on 7 of my fingers. They, surprisingly, didn't use cuticle oil at all. The paint job is uneven in places and there are air bubbles on a couple of nails. The salon looks nice and the pricing is reasonable, but it might be not worth it given what it looks like. read more

Two stars only because last time they did a decent job. This time, terrible. I think the guy that did my nails thought I didn't care about it because I was lax on him when he was trying to file away my skin while removing my old gel polish. I was not in a rush, but apparently he was! He messed up by not spacing out my toes so when he put the dryer over my foot, my second toe touched my big toe and he just painted over the mishap and you can definitely see it! Then my manicure is just terrible with uneven lined and missed spots! For $70+tip for a gel mani-pedi, this was the worst decision I've made in a while. They'll need to pay me $70 to go back. read more

I went today to Allure for a manicure and pedicure before a wedding this weekend. Jenny did both services for me. Jenny is positive, pleasant, and truly kind. I love Allure and will be back to see Jenny again! Ann C. read more

I am happy it is under new management. The look has been updated and I appreciate that. I have gone to Jenny, Nolan and Mai for several years but the management needed changing. Now that has happened. Nolan is the new manager and has redone the interior, it is happier, more inviting. They are adding some additions to services that are awesome, like hot towels on hands to soften them. Glorious.......If you have been dissappointed in the past, I would suggest you try again. If you are not happy, Nolan wants to know about it. He will make it right. Let's enjoy the upgrades. Some of these reviews make me wonder if we were in the same place. It is awesome now. read more

Is anyone else tired of being told what you want can't be done because of some reason other than the service provider won't listen to direction? Like I want my nails to be shaped and sculpted to be balance and curved over to appear natural...to be told that can't be done because of how my nail is shaped. That's not true, there's 2 reasons that I know this to be a fact. 1. I'm licensed to do nails 2. this same shop has done it for me off and on for a year. I'm simply trying to explain what needs to be done to correct the issue and 3-4 techs come around to tell me it's impossible or that I'm wrong...no attempt to take direction at all. Why all the arguing? Why does the tech have to huff and puff and visibly become irritated? Then we all know the shop starts speaking in a foreign language...tone determines it's definitely about the "hard to please" paying customer. Why is it now a ridiculous concept to service providers that we expect what we are agreeing to pay for? They've done good work in the past it's just inconsistent and I'm not about to keep begging and arguing for what I know I'm reasonably asking for. read more

I would recommend walking in instead of making an appointment. I've made an appointment three times now and each time I made the appointment I requested Sunny and everytime I came for my appointment I was handed off to someone else. What is the point? The reason I made the appointments was because service is very hit or miss here. It took 4 visits to find someone that did a decent pedicure. And can I tell you that the woman I got passed off to today was downright painfull! read more

Moving to this state it's been very difficult to find new everything. I have given this nail salon 7 months and probably 3 out of the 7 months I went was an okay experience. I'm not sure how nobody can tell the difference from real vs fake nails, especially if their techs are the one doing them. I've gotten crappy nail service. For simple nails like a gel manicure / pedicure, it's sloppy, the shape is always off. I'm not a picky person and I am not one to embarrass anybody, I give everyone a chance. The prices are ridiculous just for something so simple. The weekend of 4th of July was the last straw. I booked for a simple color change on my toes because getting a pedicure was never worth the $ anymore and a gel manicure. I never got the manicure I got a sloppy color change while in the pedicure chair. This woman wanted to rush to get out bc it was a holiday the next day. If you wanted to leave so bad why did you allow me to make this appointment? I still had green on my nails from the month before. The shaping of my nails were horrible . I have real long natural nails and they are treated less than. I've seen reviews about "it's because I'm black " it could be the case . Considering what state this is. I pay $71 in New York and that's without tip. They are high priced . I've paid different prices and I get the same thing. Weird. I had to return back to the salon the day after the holiday and waste 2 hours to get my nails done over . Very irritating. You should be ashamed to do this to somebody's nails that is paying you & on top of that would give a tip. Things like this make me not return to their establishment. It was a nice salon but my nails were not treated properly. read more

I have tried it 4 times because it is close by. It is not worth it. Go elsewhere. Smudged nails all the time. It is so upsetting, after a few days, I had to take off the gel. Meh. Nice atmosphere but service was so-so, I didn't feel very welcomed. I just got a polish change for $6, so maybe they were mad that I didn't go all out? Since I live within a walking distance from this nail salon, I came here to remove my gel/shellac polish that I had gotten done in NYC. Yes, the place was orderly and well managed but I did not feel welcomed at all the moment I stepped foot into the door. Maybe because I was only getting my polish removed, but the nail tech was not even friendly and seemed to not pay much attention to me. My nails were soaked in nail polish remover for about 5 minutes or so. Then she continued to buff the remaining polish off. Finally, she told me to go wash my hands. I though she was going to continue cleaning my nails and at least lotion my hands or something so I sat back in my seat. She came over and asked "Do you want a clear coat or something?" So I said, "Um, there's still polish on the edges of my nails." This was when she muttered something in Vietnamese to another nail tech next to her. I could have went ballistic on her but I chose to stay calm. So I ended up paying $5 and gave her a $1 tip, which is a 20% tip. She didn't even say thank you or anything when I left. RUDE. Never ever coming back here again for these reasons: she didn't: a) properly clean all the polish off my nails b) lotion my hands c) offer to cut my nails (which had grown pretty long since I had the gel on for 2 weeks) d) RUDE, no "thank you" when I Ieft. read more
