So.... my first review for Alligator Pools was a one star because when I called for a quote I was told that they did not provide service in the Homestead area. I received a message from the owner, Chris who pointed out the reason; which was traffic. Which in my humble opinion is a fair reason having sat in traffic going only 25 miles that can take over an hour plus depending on the time of day, accidents, and weather. So I took that review off. But then Chris sent me another message saying thank you and even offered to review quotes for me so I would not be taken advantage of. This is an above and beyond offer and I felt that I needed to let everyone know. My only regret is that they don't come to Homestead, because my feelings are that Chris and his company are one of the good guys. read more

SEAMLESS. I have never had a project as efficient, professional, and well managed as the one Aldo and Alligator pools took on. It started with a call to Alligator pools where Martha took my information and very quickly had Aldo come out to see my pool. Martha was the first person I spoke to and she was calm, and friendly, and answered all of my questions. Aldo came by within the week and it was quite obvious he knows his craft. He reassured me my pool could be fixed and explained timeline and costs. When we received the proposal everything was itemized and clearly explained. We took a few months to figure out what we wanted and asked if Aldo could come back out. Martha once again scheduled Aldo to come out and he answered all of our questions. He is a busy man but he took all the time we required without rushing us. We immediately trusted this company and it was in large part to Aldo and Martha. After our new proposal was sent (we had added a few things) and we signed it and sent the deposit, our project started in a weeks time. Aldo brought in his team and those guys worked tirelessly. Finding Alligator Pools was a game changer! I initially brought them in for our pool renovation at our new home in Pinecrest. Becaause of outstanding service last month I again asked Alligator Pools, and their man-on-the-spot Aldo, to further upgrade my pool system after installing a new pool heater. This time I wanted a new cartridge filter system and salt water chlorinating system, as well as potentially a new electronic timer. My system is 27 years old, installed when the house built. Aldo is great in advising on the best solutions but also in dissuading me from needless "improvements" . Within a couple of days he was back to install the filter and the salt water chlorination system. He spent time making sure I understood how to maintain both, after getting things up and running. A few days later, before I got round to calling him up to make sure I was doing things right, he showed back up unannouced, to make sure I really was doing things right. These people are complete scam artists. In 2020 I bought a new pool pump motor from them. Less than a year after buying it it wasn't working properly and I had to have a service call. Then two years after having it installed it is leaking and they sent me a proposal for a completely new pool pump including a new motor. When I balked at the idea of replacing a two year old pool pump motor the woman on the phone acted like it was totally normal and said that it only has a one year warranty. At my other home I have had the same pool pump for ten years with no issue. These people are scammers and I would stay away from them. Horrible customer service and they are dishonest as well. read more

The phrase, "a wing and a prayer" comes to mind when I think about our interaction with Alligator Pool Services. Times folks, are crazy, aren't they? The service industry, as a result of the pandemic and it's lingering effects, is not the same one that we had back in March of 2020 when this thing started to really get out of hand. That being said ... pools were one of many items that were in high demand so we weren't at all surprised when finding what we wanted locally proved to be almost impossible. And then we found George at Alligator. In Pennsylvania. We happen to live in Michigan so here's where the trust and "wing and a prayer" come into play. He offered the insulated, paneled pool that could be buried completely or ... the option we were looking for ... a partially in-ground pool. The risk, to us was that we'd need to pay for it and then just hope that this company delivered. I made sure to look online and research the legitimacy of Alligator and I had several conversations with George himself before we pulled the trigger and so I had a certain degree of confidence ... but there was still the chance that we were throwing an enormous amount of money at someone who could be scamming us. Turns out ... Alligator and George are legit. Not only did we receive what we paid for but we were in contact and received updates on the shipment as it was making its way to us. We used Alligator Pools to resurface and re-tile our pool. They did an excellent job. Finished quickly, cleaned up the whole area, and helped me fill out the papers required to get a credit on the cost of the water to refill the pool. Alan was extremely helpful and was great on followup. Months after they finished the pool developed a leak, not at a result of the work Alligator Pool did, Alan came out and tried to locate the leak, but could not. He gave me the telephone number of a leak detector company, which I called and they found the leak, which was underground away from the pool. My pool needed resurfacing for a long time. A couple of neighbors recommended the Alligator Pools, so I requested an estimate from this company. The sales manager, Jumar, met with me the next day, clearly explained everything that needs to be done, and presented me with various options to consider. The estimate for this project was well within expected price range. The quote from another company wasn't that attractive and had additional charges for things fully covered by Alligator Pools. Since it was a simple resurfacing project, the work started in just 4 weeks after we signed the agreement. The service manager came to start the drain and after the pool was empty, the crew of 4 people showed up to prep it, undercut the waterline tiles, lay additional tiles for the steps, fix minor cracks, and roll-on hydraulic cement. Two days later, the surface was newly finished with FSC gem material. After the water fill-up, the service manager, Aldo, has arrived to add chemicals, brush new walls, and provide some tips for initial maintenance steps. So far I'm very happy with how this project turned up. It was fast, efficient, and no mess was left behind. Everyone I had to deal with, either personally or over the phone, was extremely helpful. after having my pool off line more more than several years the Alligator team came in and and took the surface back to code and started ground up for me. everyone from the sandblasting team to the plaster team ( which spent two full days just in cutting around my flag stone to avoid having a raised ridge where the finish meets was impressive. the diamondbrite kisses the flagstone just like the day it was originally done in the early 2000's. The equipment/water setup team came in and had the pool balanced within days. if your looking for a straight forward company that will just come in and do the job right the first time. We had another company come evaluate the pool after Alligator discontinued our service. The new pool company's opinion was the pool had been poorly maintained. The filter had not been cleaned in some time and the pool chemical balance was way off, suggesting Alligator had not been testing our pool regularly. It seems they were just coming and throwing tablets in the pool without testing the chemical balance and properly cleaning our filter. The guy that works for Alan is very passive aggressive and does not seem to be doing his job properly. I would look elsewhere as Alan does not listen to his customers and really only takes the word of his employee when there is a problem. read more

I had let my small pool/spa go far too long. Alan was patient with me on design choices and made useful recommendations. while always emphasizing it was my pool, my choice. Alligator and/or their various subs sandblasted, poured/installed steps, resurfaced, repaired/installed pumps for pool, hydrotherapy, and waterfall, replaced light fixture, resurfaced with new tile work ... although it took a while to get started, once they did they were prompt, courteous, and hardworking. And nice!! Although I've been in Miami for 25 years my Spanish is not great, so I was pleased to be able to communicate with all workers in English. And the price was very reasonable.
