We got our beautiful pool- Great company- great results! We decided to build our pool after extensive research and quoting with multiple companies. It is probably one of our home projects that required a lot of involvement, patience and constant follow up. Custom Pools stood out as the one with fair pricing, clear process and honestly, great reviews like the one I am making. Those were the reasons we selected them. I give them 5 stars because they delivered a beautiful pool and took care of all issues that came up. So let me tell you about the process. Their sales guys- Hugo- was personable and accommodating, he was the one that basically dealt with us throughout, and probably got tired of us because we called him a lot, and I mean a lot! Once we signed the contract and paid the deposit, it took several weeks for permitting, some delays were due to the company not filing right away because their guy was out and the City took their sweet time. Once they got permits, they moved very expeditiously. Only delays worth mentioning were more towards the end with decking and final inspections but once these were overcome, the project was on its way to completion. We had a punch list of issues that came up during the project but they took care of those and by the end all was to satisfaction. We started in February signing the contract, the actual construction of the pool started in June and we finished in September. So I would say it was a fair timeframe. We never met the owner during construction, however, at the end, we wanted to have a pool party to celebrate our Daughter's 12th b'day and it had to be postponed one week due to weather and a few remaining items. I called the company and got Dago- the owner-, who took care of business and did his best to ensure the pool was ready, clean and fantastic to have the party on the rescheduled day. So in other words, they came through and we wrapped it up with a bow! I would certainly recommend them. I would just advise that you must be on top of the project and act as a project manager to ensure things get moving at a good pace. I would highly recommend anyone looking to build a pool to look no further than Custom Pools. From day 1, Hugo and Dago worked with me and my family to land on a design we liked, patiently working with us as our design evolved over time, pricing different options and never pressuring us to go one way or the other (in fact, I liked the fact that they only required a very small deposit to sign the contract as opposed to the 20% or more than other companies were asking for). Ultimately the pool came out exactly how we wanted it (our design was quite custom, with several benches, a spa and a curved beach area with a bubbler, water slide with water hookup and it also required removing an existing pool) and we could not be happier. We hear horror stories often about pools taking forever to be finished. Custom Pools started on time, worked with large and experienced crews that got the job done quickly and professionally and they were able to finish the pool right on schedule--about 3 months from ground breaking to plastered. It was never more than a few days before the crew for the next phase was at our house (and Rick stopping by almost every day to check on progress). Along the process, we referred often to the project timeline and progress tracker that Custom Pools makes available through its web portal or, if we had any questions, we always got an answer from Hugo in a few hours. Our shellstone patio and deck with large pavers came out amazing as well. As with any construction project, there will always be hiccups but, when one was encountered (really there were not that many), the team, including Dago, were here quickly to resolve it. Ok, so my pool was in major disaster mode and needed a major overhaul years ago. So I finally got down to business and did my research and (hopefully!) got the best bang for my buck. John, the owner, is a very cool fella and was very cool with my haggling and agreed to do the job at MY price, which was very competitive (if you know what I mean-- and I'm sure you don't, but no matter, it was a GOOD price). I think they did a good job; this is one of those jobs that is hard to determine because it takes a long time --years, actually to know if the job was done right. However from a superficial perspective (keeping in mind that the state my pool was in to begin with, was horrendous!), it looks pretty good. We had some reservations about the time frame, but John was true to his word and finished on schedule. Pool is now getting its water back so I won't know how pretty it will look for a couple days. I'm more than satisfied with this company from the beginning of the construction till the end, the one feeling I kept going through during the entire process was, "piece of mind", I'm the type of of person that is always on top of things at work at home on projects, however this company really gave me that a " piece of mind". This company is absolutely amazing and I would recommend it hands down to anyone thinking of building a pool, renovating, or any other swimming pool or spa needs you may have. I recently finished the pool in my house with a different company (I'm actually being generous by calling it a company because it is a joke of a business and they should have their license revoked!!!) because it was an absolute nightmare. There are no words to describe the terrors we went through with those people but I will definitely do my very best to describe it when I review them later on. On the other hand, I had a spa installed in my house by Custom Pools and from the owner to his employees were all extremely efficient, knowledgeable, and very generous! They moved and installed my spa, started it and left it running perfectly. And also when the owner of Custom Pools went to my house, I told him about my previous horrible experience and asked him if he could help me with figuring out how to work my new salt water pool system because the other company did not. Not only did he teach me how to work the system but he went the extra mile and sent a group of three technicians the very next day to put in the salt for me and also told them to install a drain hose into the system for when I need to lower the water level or drain anything from the pool. He went on and beyond, never asking for a dime or any type of compensation. Instead he always offered his help and gave me his personal number and told me to save it for any questions or concerns I may have in the future. From my first phone contact to set up an appointment with one of the owners I sensed I would be dealing with a professional, responsive and friendly group of people and was not disappointed. They respected my desire to take a practical, no frills approach to the renovation, which included leak repair, new coping and tiles, resurfacing of the pool, and a new patio. Having steered clear of the higher priced products, I must say that the finished pool and patio are even nicer than what I expected - a really striking and magnificent improvement to our home. Over the years I heard from many people that Custom Pools was the best in town. So when my wife and I decided to build a pool we went directly to Custom Pools, and we are glad we did. Irv, John, Marilyn and Bob were great. They worked efficiently and wasted no time. Every day when we got home from work something New was done. I couldn't believe how quickly they got everything done. They broke ground on Nov 12 and passed final inspection on Feb 2.... And they were on vacation for three weeks in December. I also spoke with all of their subcontractors to get an idea of how they run their business. Every last one of them had nothing but good things to say about Custom Pools. I got my pool completed by Custom Pools a few years ago. The reason for the late review is because for years since our pool has been completed, we've been dealing with an issue that is difficult to resolve. They constructed a pool and on one side of the pool there is no tile aside from the pool coping. To help you visualize this, I have pavers on 3 sides of my pool, but on the furthest, long side of my pool, its all dirt and sharp rocks. My kids have fallen due to this. When it rains, the mud runs into the pool. Did they run out of bricks? No; we have tons of leftover from the install that they just never added. When I called them about this, they sent me to an outside person to deal with it but he was charging an extreme amount of money for a small area (approx. $5k for 100 sq. ft. of pavers we already have). No one wants to fix it because the job is too small for them. However, I truly feel this is Custom Pools mistake. How can they construct a pool with nothing next to the coping? No one can walk there without falling. Since they are the experts, they should have never allowed this to even occur. read more
