My husband and I recently took a trip to Austin and participated in the Keep Austin Weird Scavenger Hunt. The scavenger hunt took us to Allen's Boots and we are so glad it did!! There were some questions we had to have answered to earn points in the hunt and the staff at Allen's Boots were super nice, welcoming, and informative. It was perfect because my husband had been on the hunt for quite some time for a light color hat to help keep the sun off of him. Allen's had him covered! He absolutely loves his new Stetson hat that keeps the sun off and has vent holes for air flow. Great success!! read more

This store was such an experience! I've never bought boots before but Allen's made the whole experience fun. As you can see I found the most perfect pair of boots ever. However they are missing a small stud and for over $400 you should have a perfect boot. Since no other pairs of these boots that I had my heart set on were available, the manager went above and beyond to make this a positive experience for me. He offered me 10% off and took my name and address so he can mail me a bunch of little studs I can have on hand. My husband got an amazing pair of boots too, with the help of the lovely sales associate Noah. Their hat selection is pretty fabulous as well. I had the best vacation experience here and highly recommend the store to anyone looking for a unique Austin experience. read more

Must visit, when in Austin. So many unique and cute cowboy boots. Had to talk myself out of coming home with two pairs. There's an attached hat shop-- that had live music. And the staff is friendly and uber helpful. read more

Beautiful boots and even beautiful clothing, which I didn't expect. We didn't buy anything but BOY were we tempted! My husband and I even picked the same Day of the Dead Sugar Skull design. No one assisted us at all. It was busy with customers. But it still earns four stars because the boots were so amazing. read more

I am a collector of hats. For well over a year now I have been looking Burns style cowboy hat... pinch crown flat brim with a pencil roll. Enter Allen's Boots in Austin. While they did not have exactly what I was looking for, much to my amazement they were able to create exactly what I was looking for! Custom blocked while I waited! I picked a Resistol sage green 4 1/4 brim and they reshaped the crown, flattened the brim and gave it a 3/8" pencil roll to boot (sorry/not sorry for the pun!) If you get a hat made for you there, be sure to ask for Will. Not only is he a master of his craft, he is the real deal! While working on my hat he regaled us with tales of cowboys, cowboy hats and how they are made. In fact as I listened I noticed other folks gathering around for the true Allen's Boots cowboy hat experience! Seriously. If you're looking for a cowboy hat... this is the place! read more

This shop is one of the reasons I chose to go to Austin on vacation. I really wanted to get a good pair of authentic handmade, cowboy boots and Allen's boots did not disappoint. They had all kinds of boots under the sun. They had a boot for every walk of life, and the free shot of whiskey, definitely helped me make my decision on a great pair of Azulados! Make sure to get the boot conditioner! read more

When you're in Austin, there are some things you must do. This is one of them. This store is old Texas style. The boots are great, the hats are perfection and of course you also need to pick up a huge belt buckle. The service is friendly and informative. The prices are fair. read more

Not very impressed with this place. They are basically like the Walmart of boots. The ladies who greet you when you walk in the door are extremely friendly. I was looking for boots and as I went over to that section and started looking around it's pretty overwhelming. The first two pair of boots I pulled off the shelf had the insole coming off or out of the boot. That didn't make me feel so comfortable on getting a high-quality pair of boots. So I decided I would move on and look for a hat. I did buy a hat and I have to say the guy working behind the hat counter was rude and pushy. OK I get it you have to pay for the hat before they shape it. But the guy wouldn't even answer basic questions every time I ask him something about the shaping of the hat or would it be able to be possible we have to pay for before I shape it. I think he said that five times. I ended up getting it and now regret it because I saw better hats at better prices with friendlier people up the street at Cavender's boot city. I did get a hat there also. A huge difference in friendliness, no pushiness and extreme helpfulness. If you were looking for hats I would go to that place or another location and you'll get better service. I ended up getting boots at Tecovas wow what a difference in quality and customer service. They made you feel at home and valued. The only reason I gave this place two stars instead of one is it appears people like them because they've been around so long. Might be a nice place to visit walk around and see you've been there but go someplace else. I also forgot how rude they treated my daughter , husband and kids when they were checking out. All of the employees really seemed more worried about what songs were playing on their stereo system than the customers. read more

I came here from California expecting to buy some great cowboy boots. I walked in and the guy at the front said hello but he was too busy on his cell phone to do anything but say hello.. I went down all the aisles tried on about 20 pair of boots and not one person came to help me. Keep in mind I was expecting to spend $400-$500 on a pair of boots instead I walked out what the hell is wrong with their customer service when they're selling $500 boots? I managed a Harley-Davidson dealership and my staff would never ever let anybody go unattended like these idiots did bad customer service shame on you. I would give zero stars if I could. read more

Over priced tourist Trap!!!!! Hey out of state, out of town people! Go somewhere else! You are paying twice as much for their boots. Their employees are rude and very young. It's obnoxious. The whole place reeks of desperation. Google, get an Uber and go out of town 5-20 minutes to a local or bigger boot shop. Locals rarely shop there. read more

Visited Austin last weekend for the first time and really enjoyed walking up and down South Congress. After checking out Heritage Boots up the street and then walking out with my tail between my legs (they carry FANTASTIC boots, some of the most well-crafted art specimens I've ever laid eyes on in my life don't get me wrong - plus the staff was kind, but the no touch / no photo policy / $$$$ price tags lord help me) I stumbled upon Allen's and felt a lot more at-home. They offer a wide selection of boots and what I love is that there are no pushy salespeople following you around. So with that being said it's definitely more of a self-service vibe. Some people might see it as a "lack" of customer service but I prefer to have more privacy for my shopping experience. The woman that helped me check out was so friendly and helpful. She recommended that I try on my boots one more time before purchasing to make sure my heel went up and down in the boot. She explained how, as time goes on, the leather around the ankle will sink and make that area tighter - so it's important that the boots aren't as tight as a glove when they're brand new. I bought a pair of Liberty Black boots - and they're TURQUOISE. Couldn't be more "me". So in love with them and felt so sassy walking through the airport returning home with these keepsakes. read more

Bought a pair online. Pic of boots looked great online. Recieved boots and heel seemed taller than most boots I own but guessing will be ok. Pretty plain pair. Bought on sale for $299.00 so seems fair but Regular price was $399.00 and that would of been too much for these.. 1st pair from Allens so time will tell on quality.. Update to come.... read more

I loved visiting Allens Boots! Upon walking in, I was kindly greeted by a salesman. The endless aisles of leather boots is a boot-lovers dream! They have a huge selection for women, men, and children. And there's something within everyone's budget from a $100 to $1000+! Boots are sectioned according to womens, mens, and children and each aisle is sorted by size. I was there for at least an hour trying on several boots. It's a tough decision with so many choices! There's also western apparel and accessories, like cowboy hats and Bolero ties, for both men and women. Service is excellent. The selection can be overwhelming so I appreciate the occasional check in from a salesperson. Check out was easy too. I like the giant reusable Allens Boots shopping bag too. I look forward to shopping here again for my next pair of cowboy boots. read more

Andrew, what a guy. He was friendly, helpful and nice! Andrew helped me go through what boots fit me and within my budget. He was extremely patient, as I'm no Texas gal, just a gal from the big city of Chicago! When you walk in, you're just mezmorized by all the boots. It's just aisles of boots. You can try on any boot and they are organized by size. There are so many helpful people, but Andrew took the time to help me out and make sure I find what I want. They have all kinds of boots, from ostrich to regular old leather. I came in expecting to try on and I left buying a pair for $200! You can get some higher end boots for way more money, but for a beginner booter, this was great. What a fantastic place! I left with a pair of Tony Llamas! read more

Megan was amazing. She took my husband and myself all around the store, spent quite a bit of time helping us find boots that were JUST right. We didn't end up purchasing anything (I'm sorry, Megan!) but only because everything we absolutely loved was fat outside of our budget. Think $1000 + dollars. If I had a lifestyle where I wear boots regularly, it would make sense. They have some really high quality boots in stock. But for me, a city gal, they just wouldn't easily incorporate into my wardrobe. They have a good size selection here. I'm a hard-to-find 10.5 and there were many boots in my exact size. read more

They always have great service and an extensive collection of really cool boots. But now it seems that the place is more flooded with tourists and the prices are jacked up. I was floored by what I walked away with and worth every freaking dime! These are amazing leather boots that I get ALL the compliments on whenever I wear them. Allen's boots has a great selection of boots for both men and women, in terms of variety. Cost is another matter. First of all, I clearly understand good quality boots can be pricey. That's not the issue. Nearly everything I picked up in the women's section was more than $500. My husband even found a $4,400 pair of boots. The overall feeling of the store was that it is an over-priced tourist trap. We found amazing boots at much better price points and quality at other shops. If you want to go just to check it out, go for it. But you can find much better value for your money elsewhere. read more

Whether you are a local or tourist this place is a must visit. I always enter this store to browse or sometimes find a nice pair of boots. They carry other stuff like hats and belts but the focus here is boots. They have added a Lucchese store which is nice and making this place a bit more upper scale. The rest of the boots are on display and sorted by size and gender. Interesting they have a officer watching every enter store and makes you place you drink (if you have one) in a bin. I guess to protect the boots from getting splashed. It always fun to try on boots and try to hold back in purchase them. read more
