Since it was our first time there, we took some time to look at the menu and came with questions when we ordered. I saw that they have a matcha latte on the menu but nowhere did I see any specials or what syrups could be added to the matcha. Because of this, I asked the person checking us out if they had any syrups and if they could be added to the drinks. He listed off the syrups (vanilla, hazelnut, etc) and also included a "strawberry puree" in the list. So I considered that and said I would order it with the strawberry puree. The woman who was making the drinks beside him then said something along the lines of "so you're ordering a strawberry matcha latte". Like I was suppose to know that and order that way. I responded "yeah, I guess so but is that on the menu because I don't see it". Then she confirmed it's not on the menu. I didn't know if it would cost more or if it wasn't suppose to be included as a syrup or if she was training him. It was just an odd interaction rubbed me the wrong way though and left an uncomfortable feeling for me. We were going to enjoy our stuff there but after that we decided to take it to go. I'm not sure if I will return as it is not a local spot for us and we made a special visit out there to try it. My drink was good and the macaron was also yummy. I would recommend it regardless because their stuff is good and my interaction could just be a one off.

The baristas were very friendly and they knew what drinks to recommend. The atmosphere was cozy and allowed people to work on their laptops while enjoying their coffee. Good variety of pastries , tried a chocolate chip muffin which was okay, and an iced coffee which for my taste was a little weak. However the shop is still working out the kinks and I would totally come back and give it another try to add into my coffee rotations. The space was warm and welcoming, could definitely picture myself sitting there with a friend or a laptop getting some work done. Definitely a lot of promise and worth the stop in!

Once inside, I realized they're still in their soft opening phase, having friends and family test things out before the grand opening. Even so, the staff could not have been sweeter -- they welcomed the public in to try some of their drinks and coffee, which was such a nice surprise. I ordered the peanut butter latte and a biscotti, and both were excellent. The espresso was super smooth and balanced perfectly with the peanut butter flavor -- not too sweet, just really well done. The biscotti was also amazing, and I heard they source it from a well-known biscotti spot in Pennsylvania. Their pastries are locally made too, which is always a plus. Really excited to come back and try more of the menu once they officially open. Fanwood definitely has something special coming!

The station here has whole milk, 2% milk, half and half, and cream. Above it is a map of their global locations, surprising me with their global locations including Taiwan and Kazakhstan and Australia and many other far away places. Finally I tried again and this second time I was able to try some of their offerings. I came on a Saturday and they were hosting DayLite Jersey House Music event. It was LOUD and packed with people just standing around. The vibes were cool though. My friends came before me and were able to snag a table in the back room. I went up to the counter to order. Unfortunately my first choice, a matcha latte, was sold out. I asked if they had any other options because I'm not much of a coffee drinker. I was told that there were flavored lemonades, I asked the about the flavors and the person who was helping me wasn't sure so they went and asked another person who ended up coming to list the syrups and just ringing me out. I ordered a blueberry lemonade and a blueberry pop-tart to go. Everything was fine until the end of our time there. As we were getting ready to leave I grabbed what I thought was my cup and took a quick sip to finish it off so I didn't have to carry it around. Turns out I grabbed a coffee from the table instead. I thought it was my friend's so I apologized to her about drinking her drink because I didn't realize I grabbed the wrong one in the dark. She goes, "oh no it's not my drink...I have mine in my hand." I'm like whose drink and dishes are these? She said that they were there before they got there and they just pushed it to the side. Omg I almost gagged, I just took the biggest sip of some random person's drink by accident. At that point I get up to go to the bathroom to rinse out my mouth. While I'm gone by friends get their things ready and also wait outside the bathroom, which is right by our table. As soon as I get out I walk back to grab my pop-tart and it was gone, cleared away by the staff in a matter of minutes. Crazy that they left the table with dishes and cups when we got there but when we were leaving they were in a rush to clear away everything that they take my basically full pop-tart too. I was so defeated at that point I just left. To note, I did take one bite of the pop-tart and it was actually very good. My lemonade was fine, nice and tart. Overall service is kinda lacking but it was also a crazy day to visit with an event going on so I can't really comment on how they are normally. I don't think I will back because I don't know if I can recover from swigging some rando's drink.
