Every dish we ordered was bursting with flavor and expertly created. My favorite entred were the Aloo Mattar and the Tandoori platter. But, what I can't stop thinking about is the desserts! (I have a major sweet tooth). We had Kheer, Gaajar Halwa and the ginger Kulfi.... I honestly can't tell you which one I loved more. What made our experience even more special was the owner, who took the time to come to our table and check on us. We got take-out from here. We got a chicken tikka masala thali which came with regular naan, daal, rice, raita, and aloo gobi. The tali came with a lot of food. The chicken was flavored well and the naan was large. The raita was on the sweet side which was a bit disappointing but we liked everything else. We also got paneer makhni and garlic naan. The paneer had mushroom in it which was different but tasty. They also gave a good bit of paneer which was creamy. They didn't ask what spice level we wanted so the flavors were all on the mild side but generally tasty. We've had trouble finding a good take out spot for Indian food but would go here again. read more

I have been coming to this restaurant since 1999, but had a six year pause (Pasadena is a bit of a hike from where I live). I just took my family to All India this weekend and it was every bit as good (maybe even better) than I remembered. We ordered from the lunch menu (4 - chicken tikka kabob, chicken tikka masala, chicken tandoori, vegetarian). Everything was incredibly good. Not only that but it was a lot of food at a very reasonable price, and the owner plus staff were friendly and gracious hosts. It's now our go-to spot any time we get near Pasadena. read more

Almost one month ago, I was in the Pasadena area and took the opportunity to get some Indian foods at All India Cafe. My daughters love their Chicken Masala and so do I. I also ended up getting their Chicken Biryani (low spice) and Garlic Naan Bread, too, just to try them out. Everything was delicious! Portions could have been bigger though especially for the Chicken Masala. Prices are on the higher end, but hey, we're in Pasadena so it's a given. Staff was very friendly. I've been here twice and both times I've had delicious food and excellent service. All India Cafe is not fine dining. Very nice and accommodating staff welcome you into a homey family restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating.They have two relatively clean restrooms. I enjoyed the chicken Frankie, chicken biriyani and chicken Marsala lunch specials. Marsala fries are a yummy appetizer to share with the table. Delicious fresh naan and fluffy rice comes with some meals. If you like experimenting with Indian flavors, the street food menu offerings are fun trips down the spice road! read more

All India Cafe may just have the best Indian food in SGV! Don't be fooled by the name. I have found myself coming back often in the past couple of weeks for dinner. The interior features dim lighting and a candle on each table, so there is a really cozy vibe to the restaurant. What we ordered: 1. Lamb Tikka Masala - The lamb is so tender, and the tikka masala is incredibly flavorful. It is creamy and tomato-ey (if that makes sense) 2. Chicken Korma - The chicken is very juicy and tender. As for the curry, it tastes like the milder version of the tikka masala. It is less heavy but still very flavorful 3. Cheese Naan - The inside is filled with cheese (mozzarella taste and texture). The naan is pillowy soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. This order comes with chutney. I got the mango one which is my favorite. It really helps cut the heaviness of everything and adds a nice sweet flavor to contrast the saltiness of the curry, making for the perfect bite :) I have tried the mint one before too since it is apparently their most popular one. It also adds a bit of freshness, but the flavor is not as present when eating it with the curries. 4. Garlic Naan - This one is a classic. The naan is again soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. Tastes really good when you dip it in the curry. A must-order when you come! 5. Butter Chicken (not pictured) - This dish is absolutely delicious! The chicken is so tender and the sauce is spiced perfectly. Used to only eat the one from Trader Joe's but this is of course 100x better The servers are pretty attentive usually. Overall, definitely my favorite place to go when I crave Indian food. TLDR: Difficult parking, below average service, average food - all of which culminate in a "meh" experience. Likely won't be returning. - - - - - - I visited All India Cafe as part of the Dine LA Experience. Since it is located in Old Town, one could imagine that parking is difficult - surprise: it is. The experience was quite eventful, and what caught my attention was the host yelling at a group of customers to "Get out!" of the restaurant. We spent about 10 minutes looking through the menu - really Googling images of what to eat since we were unfamiliar with the dishes. The DineLA menu had a ton of options, and we did the $35 experience. We started the meal with some samosas, which had a weird taste. I'm not sure whether to term it metallic, like iodine, or how to explain it, but it had a characteristic taste that's hard to describe. However, when dipped in the green sauce (mint chutney?) it was the correct amount of saltiness, and the texture was better - less powdery, more palatable. The tamarind sauce also meshed well and had a tangy sweetness. The Aloo Tikki were for the unfamiliar like very well made roasted hash browns. Its warm interior was satisfying, and the onions were a nice, sweet contrast. Our side salads were delicious; I wish hadn't devoured it in two bites! The sweet, sour vinegrette wasn't too strong, and it was lightly flavored, with fruits providing a sweet side flavor. The cucumbers were juicy and provided a quick palate cleanser. The white wine I ordered wasn't particularly fancy, but it was noentheless tasty though late. We ordered three glasses but only received two. Around this time, our entrees also came, but we were given one wrong entree, and we ended up having to swap entrees with the table next to us - an awkward experience especially during the transition to post-COVID years. I was super excited when we received the garlic naan, but I didn't enjoy the texture of the naan or the taste of the dal - the dal was super salty. My friend's sweet rice tasted good. The lamb sheesh kebab was pretty dry, and without sauces lacked flavor. It was "meh" without the mint chutney around. The chicken was also too dry, but the masala's sweetness and texture made it tolerable. The tofu was nice and had the texture of yogurt or soft tofu - enjoyable. I have to admit I was confused when they brought our dessert - the kheer - out when we were midway eating our entrees. We felt pretty rushed, and it ended up sitting on the table for maybe 10 minutes. Regardless when trying it, no one in my party particularly enjoyed it. IT tasted like thick porridge with condensed milk or even melted vanilla ice cream at room temperature. The consistency was awkward - would not order again. read more

I friggin love indian food. Wandered around Old town Pasadena and started to feel hungry so we stepped into All India Cafe to try them out. The vibe was authentic and fun - and the servers were friendly! We ordered the dahi potato puri (4/5) it's a crisp shell with cold potato, chutney and yogurt. Very sweet appetizer and I wished it was hot, but it was still delicious. We also ordered the butter chicken 10/10 which was so so good and a garlic naan. The garlic naan 4/10 was burnt on the bottom which was very unpleasant and super disappointing. And lastly we got a Frankie with chicken 10/10 - super yummy wrap with a yogurt sauce on the side. Yesterday I was in Pasadena for work when I was craving some Indian food. I went on yelp and I found all India café so I thought to myself I need to try this place. This restaurant was very busy during lunch so come early or call ahead. The food was absolutely amazing. It's so much art and decoration inside this place felt like you were in India. The food is really good. The server recommended me a few items so I took pictures of all of them. I really love the garlic nan. Next time I'm in Pasadena I will definitely come back. This place is awesome! My go to for Indian food once upon a blue moon. We love ordering the meal for 2, which includes a full course meal minus drinks. I ordered delivery via Postmates recently, and the food is solid. I've also eaten here in person once before. I had the chicken tikka masala and lamb vindaloo. The dishes were flavorful. However, they were both on the salty side although they worked when eating them with rice. It would have been nice to have rice included with the meal. Overall, it still falls short of the best Indian food that I've had in Southern California (which has been multiple places in Artesia), but this restaurant will do in a pinch when I'm craving Indian food and want to stay local. read more

I keep ordering here because the reviews are great thinking that I'm just not getting the right dish or ordering on the main chefs off day but so far it's been disappointing every time. I've gotten way over salted dry aloo gobi, bland saag paneer, and thick chewy dosa. The masala filling had been dry, the paneer was good, the sambar is so bland it's like watered down daal and now today the bhel puri I ordered is missing half the ingredients. No puffed rice, no crispy noodles or wafer just mini panpuris filled with chutney, a piece of onion and a piece of potato, 1 chickpea and some cilantro scattered about. The only thing that has continually been good here is the dessert and I think it's worth coming here specifically for that. But I'm on my 4th try now between this location and the other one and at this point im gonna take it for what it is and not going to try again. read more

We got the dahi potato puri, chicken tikka masala thali, tandoori chicken, and mango lassi. The dahi puri was refreshing, as it's crispy on the outside and tangy from the yogurt inside. The chicken tikka masala's portion was pretty small for the price. It could use more flavor and spice. Sadly, the tandoori chicken was so dry and hard to chew. Would of been great if it was grilled better. The naan and mango lassi was good though! Service was okay. No one came by our table unless we flagged someone down for assistance. Another one of the few decent Indian restaurants in Pasadena. Came here once a while ago for takeout and then again recently with some friends for their dineLA lunch. The first time I ordered shahi paneer, rice, and onion naan. For dineLA I got Indian chai tea, a samosa, lamb Masala, and garlic naan. My friend got all the same, except aloo tikki instead of a samosa. I don't have any complaints with the taste of anything I've tried here, but I do feel like the portions are smaller than they are from the other nearby Indian establishments. However, the dineLA lunch was an amazing value, though they only do that twice a year. It was $15 for a drink, small appetizer, lunch platter with rice and salad, choice of curry, and naan. The stuffed naan is obviously more flavorful than plain, and they've been fun so far so I think I'll continue to try these when I want naan. I like the consistency of the paneer here, and the lamb was fine but not stellar. Everything looks, smells, and tastes fresh, so again, no complaints. Service: 5 stars. The tandoori grill was unforgivable tho. Chicken was dry as the Saharan desert. It was so dry, it was hard to chew. Both my friend and I got the tandoori grill. It came with naan and 4 tablespoons of mint chutney. The naan piece I ate was great. My friend said that his naan piece was dry and charred on the back. I told him that's how it is, you press it against the wall of the ove. He said "no, I got one piece that was good but the other I e was not." So he thinks consistency if the naan was subpar. But I was fine with naan. Now the meat. The tandoori grill is $22. It is approximately 12 oz of meat. There's lamb sausage, chicken thigh, and a piece of other chicken that came from the breast. I could not eat this as it was too hard. I asked for tamarind chutney. Extra $1. Chutney is a condiment so I feel like I was being charged for ketchup. Why? I have been here another time years ago but this visit solidified that I really should never come back here. I crave Indian food even more after coming here which means the food really is disappointing to me. read more
