Four stars solely for the exceptional sandwich. The spot itself is a tiiiiiny hole in the wall. But it has charm! There is kitschy decor inside and funny memes to read as you wait to order. We had two issues. 1) it smelled incredibly strong of Sharpie the entire time we were there. There were a bunch of signs written in Sharpie taped to the counter. But the smell was strangely overwhelming as we ate and I found it off putting. 2) There are 3 seating options inside. A table for 2. A table for 4 with a bench on either side. And a counter looking outside with stools for 2-3. We took the table with the benches but oh my god were the benches rickety. They wobbled so much I was worried it would break as I sat! Long story short - I'd come back for the food without question. There were so many other things on the menu I'd like to try. I'd just skip dining in next time!

The Italian sandwiches here are good but they just don't have the same impact as the ones from Bensonhurst (Lioni's, Papa Pasquale, etc). I got the Pinocchio and really enjoyed the fig spread on semolina bread. Prosciutto + soppressata was a rather salty combination though. Roasted red peppers had a good texture and mellowed things out a bit but the mozzarella was kind of bland. Prices are high but the portions are decent and you can possibly split one sandwich into two meals, depending on how hungry you are. Glad I gave this place a try but I think I'll stick with my Brooklyn go-to's.

I stopped by Alidoro on my way to a review session and grabbed the highly raved about Pinocchio sandwich. It was good, don't get me wrong - I just feel it was a little overpriced for what it was. I wish there was more olive spread and mozzarella, and the flavor of the sandwich overall was a little simple for $14. The bread was tasty and fresh though, and you really can't go wrong with this sandwich overall. Who doesn't love deli meat and peppers?

Very tasty lunch spot. Sandwiches are a little $$ but the quality of the meats and size is worth it to me. I saved half of my sub for dinner The prosciutto is delicious. The gentleman slicing and making the sandwich was quick and kind. Good little place for lunch, I went on a Monday and it wasn't too busy the early lunch hours.

Really cute place and nice staff. Loved the ambiance. My only complaint is that I added arugula and was charged for it but when I went back to eat my sandwich there was no arugula! I was not happy about that.

Walking into Alidoro on a summer afternoon, the customer's experience is immediately a cramped, old-school shop that appears to be cooled by a single window AC unit. With the right attitude, this only adds to the charm of the establishment. Clearly an institution based on the historic photos lining the walls, Alidoro boasts an extensive menu of sandwiches featuring combinations of a few trademark meats, cheeses, vegetables, and condiments. There are also 4-5 bread options, some of which may be unavailable later in the day. I ordered the Dino and Brando sandwiches, both of which had nice flavor combinations and large portions. The prices are high for a sandwich but the size, quality, and craftsmanship will certainly make it worth it for some. Maybe just not an everyday lunch option. Staff was very friendly, despite the stress of lunch rush. If you go during peak hours (11-2), expect a line out the door. All in all, Alidoro offers a classic NYC sandwich experience. Would recommend for those looking to enjoy a special lunch or entertain out-of-towners!

Cute, family-owner sandwich shop! You can tell it's authentic. They have a few different styles of breads to choose from which I believe are made in-house. There's a wide variety of sandwiches to choose from the menu -- quite delicious! You can only pay with cash or credit card so plan accordingly. Fast service, and friendly employees! Everything you want in an Italian deli sandwich in NY. Finest meats, sliced to order right before your eyes. Toothy, crusty, fresh baked bread. Condiments and sandwich accoutrements packed with flavor. Hits the spot, every bite

This locale is a hole-in-the-wall compared to the Alidoro in Midtown. We stopped in for a bite and found the kitschy decor charming, with its happy yellow walls and makeshift library of Italian books, films and memorabilia. The aesthetic is entirely different from their Midtown location catered to the finance crowd. I had their namesake Alidoro sandwich, topped with prosciutto, hot & sweet roasted peppers, mushroom paste, fennel, arugula. It's hot and packed with quality ingredients. A nod to their salads which are also superb, my favorite the Capri with smoked chicken, fresh basil pesto, parmesan, and pignoli. The fresh pesto takes it over the edge! Round things out with a chocolate chip cookie or donnoli, while checking out their cute library.

*cash only* Stumbled in on this quiet, little, unassuming hidden Italian sandwich place. I love how you can easily just walk by this gem. Hidden in plain sight!. Let's get to the breakdown: The place: small, cozy, romantic, good for a date, quick bite, casual spot. Bad thing is they only have 2 tables. Low volume music playing in the background where you can hold a conversation. The food: I ordered the "Pinocchio" - prosciutto, sopressata, fresh mozzarella, sweet roasted peppers and olive paste (see photo). It was great...nicely stuffed but not over the top. Great combo with the fresh olive paste. I could taste how fresh the ingredients were and it was satisfying. Of course, I also got a San pellgrino clementine!. The sandwich was $13.50. Kind of steep but hey, it was quality and it got me full. You have to try it at least once! I would definitely come back and try the other sandwiches / specials.

Monday afternoon, no line whatsoever for lunch. Small shop with a few tables inside and a bunch of rules - no cards, no bathroom, no coffee, and no frills. Thankfully I knew all of this beforehand and made my way up to order. Decided on the Lucia with whole wheat bread ($11). Large sub stuffed with prosciutto, sliced smoked mozzarella, and roasted sweet peppers. Incredibly simple sandwich and all the flavors worked well together. Bread can be a little dry, so wish they added some oil or vinaigrette, but overall a filling sandwich. Had no problem with service as the guys behind the counter got my food out in a couple minutes. Good option for a to-go lunch if you got the cash.

After walking all over the city on an empty stomach I built up a pretty big appetite. I was in the mood for a delicious Italian deli sandwich and I wasn't going to settle until I was sure I found the perfect spot. Thank god for the internet because I found out about Alidoro on a random article I ran into and read, after a desperate Google search. It's a small place, so it might be easy to miss. I actually walked by it and had to come back. Once I was inside I knew I had come to the right place. Finally, the moment of truth. I was so torn between the Soprano or the Pinocchio. I ended up going with the Pinocchio per the very nice cashier. She said it was her favorite and the most popular, she sailed to mention that it was HUGE, but that is never a bad thing right? Bigger is better, and speaking of bigger, I am a pretty big eater and I was only able to eat half in one sitting. Of course I had a bag of rosemary garlic chips to accompany it, so that might've done it. As for the sandwich, the sopressatta and prosciutto were fresh and thinly sliced, *sigh* perfect. The mozzarella was soft and the taste of sweet peppers worked well with the saltiness of the olive paste/tapenade that was spread on the bread. I spent $20 for the sandwich, a bag of chips and a pellegrino. A little steep for lunch, but still I have zero complaints. It was delicious and satisfied the exact craving I had. I think I might have to go back before I head home to try a hot sandwich this time, and I already have my eye on the Porchetta.

Every visit reminds you why Parisi has survived since 1903 while trends and neighbors came and went. Let's talk about The Dennis--the undisputed star and a true signature sandwich. This thing is a monster, built on Parisi's legendary fresh-baked bread that somehow stays crisp, chewy, and perfect no matter how much goodness gets piled inside. You get a crispy breaded chicken cutlet layered with thin-sliced prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, sliced tomatoes, and (if you know what you're doing) roasted red peppers. It's all brought together with their house balsamic blend and basil herb spread/pesto--bright, savory, and completely addictive. I cannot confirm or deny that the sandwich is named after me, but I can confirm it's flawless. Pro tips: * Cash only, old-school rules apply. * Come hungry or plan ahead--this sandwich is big enough to share or save half for later, and it still eats beautifully round two. * Tip the sandwich makers. These folks are artists, and the tip box deserves some love. Beyond the food, Parisi is living New York history. From its origins as an Italian bakery on Mott Street, to feeding generations of locals, to being famously beloved by Frank Sinatra (yes, the bread was shipped to California), this place is woven into the fabric of Little Italy/Nolita. Legends like De Niro and Scorsese are fans, and you can still feel that old-world soul--right down to the original brick oven relic resting in the basement. Parisi isn't just a deli. It's continuity. It's tradition. It's proof that when you do one thing incredibly well for over a century, people keep coming back. And once you've had The Dennis, you will too.
