Wow, oh Wow! These sandwiches are so tasty! Lightly toasted fresh bread, quality ingredients, flavorful dressings...I am a happy camper! The eatery is tastefully decorated like a vintage diner with red booth seating, and red bar stools. There are two phone booth shaped kiosks to order from. The place is sparkling clean. Customer service at the counter is excellent. I was greeted warmly to pick up my order and advised that I would save money by ordering directly on their website as the prices are cheaper than Grubhub. They sell half-sized sandwiches in addition to regular full-sized. This is great if you want to try multiple flavors in one go like me. Is that called greedy? Haha. I choose to say I'm inquisitive. The garlicky oily broccoli rabe in the Cortese with the roast pork reminded me of an authentic Italian restaurant. I loved the sauce in the Green Goddess, though next time I will omit the bacon. It's the soft bacon, not the uber crispy bacon I prefer to eat. I always love charred pork, but am not a fan of pate in Banh Mi, so I was glad to be able to omit that and the sandwich for me hit the spot. The steak and mushroom melt wasn't bad but the steak was cooked too well done for my liking. That made it on the dry side. I also omitted the jalapeno mayo as I was concerned it could be too spicy for me, but I'm sure that would have provided the proper balance of lubrication for the dryer meat. The steak and mushroom melt also had banana peppers in it which I don't like, so I was disappointed not to have the option to omit them. Regardless of my persnickety foodie qualms, I was impressed with Counter Service and definitely recommend them!

Sausage, Egg, Cheese sandwich. Pork sausage, melty cheddar, fried egg, hash brown, garlic mayo, + pickled jalapeños on a sesame brioche bun
Ruwan J.

Counter Service has launched as a fast casual-ish sandwich shop serving up a variety of cold sandwiches, hot sandos, and some other smaller bites like desserts and snacks. the space is a throwback to luncheonettes of decades past except with modern touches like touchscreen menus to order from . clean to the eye with a well-maintained interior with a few seating options if dining in. ordered a Sausage, Egg, + Cheese TO GO via app (my sandwich stayed pretty warm despite a short walk home). the sandwich by their description is pretty accurate: "House made pork sausage topped with melty cheddar, a fried egg, a hash brown that we make ourselves, garlic mayo, and pickled jalapeños (that we pickle), on a sesame brioche bun." the flavors of the sandwich come together nicely. big hat tip on hash brown which stayed super crispy in the sandwich and is damn good. the egg was more of an overcooked seasoned egg puck...more of a disk than a texture or flavor. didn't really see the cheese, but it was sorta over melted into the hash brown--definitely the sandwich needs more cheese and it sb visibily melted all over the sand. the sausage patty (and the aforementioned sausage patty) are the heroes of this sandwich as the patty tastes great, cooked nicely, firm, but not chewy, and you can taste the meatiness without it being drowned by other flavors. big hat tip for grinding a homemade quality pork patty (bc commercial ones in the supermarket and most other places are the drizzly shits). not sure where Counter Service gets its brioche buns, but this is what brioche buns should be: a fluffy firm but soft bun that has underlying sweet buttery flavor. most commercial bakery brioche are terrible and collapse in a burger or hot sandwich bc they use too much butter, inferior ingredients, or made incorrectly. thankfully, Counter Service is baking their own bread or sourcing it from a quality bakery as it shows in the end product. the garlic mayo doesn't add much imo, but to each his/her own, but it doesn't hinder the taste by being too garlicky. the pickled jalapeños are a nice touch...a tiny bit of heat at the end of each bite/chew. the sandwiches are made to order (no microwaves)--the cooked items are cooked on the spot BUT NOT BY GRILL! since it's a fast casual spot, they use that fast high heat conveyor oven to cook each element of the sandwich separately and then combine it as the oven speeds up making a sandwich with hot elements. the only sandwich ingredient that suffers cooking this way is the egg which really loses its eggy silkiness. also, my sandwich ingredients was stacked way different than how it is pictured on menus, website, etc. while it tasted fine, i do think the optimal bite/chew is probably in the way it is shown online...despite all of it going into the same place....YOUR MOUTH! and again, more cheese visibly as it felt missing from mine though it was there. consistency is about consistency whether it be sandwich flavors or visualizing them. also if you like pretzels, order the SWEET + SPICY BROKEN PRETZELS. worth it as a snack. trust. my Sausage, Egg, + Cheese sandwich took about 15 minutes. not bad in my opinion for a a sandwich filled with good ingredients that taste like what they are supposed to be for the most part. the service is sorta non-existent bc you order by touchscreen or any of the usual suspect food ordering apps. both workers were focused on banging out the order, so there isn't really time for chattiness in the evening hours...maybe in the daytime? will most likely try Counter Service for one of their larger cold sandwiches down the line. they are definitely working out the kinks of the menu and the good thing is there is room for improvement on sandwiches that i daresay are quality bites and combine quality elements into fairly unique eating experiences. all that said, prices edge on the higher side for fast casual, but welcome to 2025. it's a wild world...

Sunny and Annie's - Biden Sandwich on a hero

((4.5 stars)) Sunny…read moreand Annie's is very much a 24/7 neighborhood gem of a corner store and deli. it's packed with packaged foods--candy, chips, cookies, ice cream, soft drinks, beer, and a lot more plus the deli counter serves ups an endless list of creative sandwiches. i am not going to say this place is cramped but it kinda is. for example, if people stand in the wrong areas of the store, it will cause a complete standstill of a traffic jam in the store. my advice: order from the deli (and stand somewhere people aren't trying to get to) or grab whatever you need, pay, and leave. this place is not a place to linger. keep it moving. anyway, the obvious draw of Sunny & Annie's is the endless list of sandwiches that are handwritten cards that are stuck outside glass of the deli counter. there is literally something for the pickiest eaters--from hot sandwiches, cold sandwiches, wraps, and more. some sandwiches are named celebrities, politicians, etc. i have ordered a bunch of different sandwiches and have not made it through much of the menu. you can also create your own Frankenstein monster of a sandwich. while the sandwiches are a big part of the draw, the insane amount of snack foods crammed into the store is quite remarkable from the large stand of Doritos, Takis, Cheetos and other popular branded snack foods in the front to the separate stand of Wise snacks to an entire back corner of the store filled with all kinds of chips, popcorn, etc. imo, Sunny's has the freshest-tasting Smartfood Cheddar Popcorn. i know an insane take consider it's a packaged popcorn snack from a megacorp (PepsiCo), but i'll die on this hill. maybe it's cause Sunny's sells a lot of Smartfood popcorn so it gets refreshed often, maybe they have a secret in/pipelinbe from the factory, or it's just magic/alchemy. i don't know, but the Smartfood Cheddar Popcorn never tastes stale-ish like it does at grocery stores, the bags never feel deflated because they have been on shelf long, and the popcorn never has that soft mouthy feel but still has the crunch to it. maybe it's just me, but Sunny's serves a great list of sandwiches...AND the freshest Smartfood Cheddar Popcorn. beyond the snacks, the service from the deli to cashier is upbeat and friendly. in all seriousness, Sunny and Annie's is an Avenue B institution at this point and remains a charming family-owned store--and is NOT a sterile modern clone of a neighborhood business.

Ended up with the Jackie Chan which was bulgogi which was marinated well, cilantro, avocado, lettuce, jalapeños and onions. Just an explosion of flavors. Can get on a roll or hero. Today, I got a PISILLO panini with ciabatta bread and it was so damn big! I had half of it for lunch and the other half will be saved for my dinner! This panini was just too long and big. I had to open my mouth really wide to take bites out of the big panini and it was annoying. It tasted good though! I love the balsamic dressing, arugula, tomatoes, and bufula mozz cheese the most out of the whole sandwich! The dressing made it really good and soften the ciabatta bread for easier chewing. My poor mouth and teeth! The whole panini cost $22.21 including tax in cash. There was an atm machine by the entrance in case you don't have cash. The whole place was very cozy and tight knit chairs and tables on both sides of the restaurant. The staff was very fast and I got my panini in not time. I did not have to wait that long. I was just amazed at the size of the ciabatta bread. They had many different types of bread that I can try next time like the focaccia, sfilatino, and semolina bread that looked really good behind the display glass. They got 35 different types of panini sandwiches for you to choose from. Most of them contain meat and there are some vegetarian options that are not so pricey. I will try those next time!

Compared to Counter Service or the other fast casual sandwich places, Sandwell's are larger, though they tend to stick to chicken and turkey (vs. beef or pork.). The service is also very friendly. The only other sandwich for lunch alternative in this area which is possibly better is Banh Anh Em, which has banh mi at the same price point, but is only available for lunch a few days a week. But of course you're limited to just banh mi's. Very much would recommend Sandwell.

They call it the "Ross sandwich" as a homage to the Friends tv show where one episode features a Thanksgiving sandwich Monica had made for Ross that got eaten by someone else. There is also a "Rachel sandwich" but I'm not sure the origin of that one. The sandwich comes sliced in half and it's very easy to eat (you won't have stuff falling out). There are a handful of tables indoors and outdoors which is great since you can enjoy your warm sandwich immediately. I looooved the Ross sandwich--it came with turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing all in a delicious semolina sub roll. I also got a bottle of the ginger lemonade which was good. We ordered the pesto chicken salad as well which was alright, but I definitely preferred the sandwich. I wanted to order another one immediately!

If you want a sandwich that earns your loyalty over decades, Parisi Bakery & Deli is that place…read more I've been eating sandwiches here for as long as I can remember, and the remarkable thing is how nothing has slipped--not the quality, not the care, not the magic. Every visit reminds you why Parisi has survived since 1903 while trends and neighbors came and went. Let's talk about The Dennis--the undisputed star and a true signature sandwich. This thing is a monster, built on Parisi's legendary fresh-baked bread that somehow stays crisp, chewy, and perfect no matter how much goodness gets piled inside. You get a crispy breaded chicken cutlet layered with thin-sliced prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, sliced tomatoes, and (if you know what you're doing) roasted red peppers. It's all brought together with their house balsamic blend and basil herb spread/pesto--bright, savory, and completely addictive. I cannot confirm or deny that the sandwich is named after me, but I can confirm it's flawless. Pro tips: * Cash only, old-school rules apply. * Come hungry or plan ahead--this sandwich is big enough to share or save half for later, and it still eats beautifully round two. * Tip the sandwich makers. These folks are artists, and the tip box deserves some love. Beyond the food, Parisi is living New York history. From its origins as an Italian bakery on Mott Street, to feeding generations of locals, to being famously beloved by Frank Sinatra (yes, the bread was shipped to California), this place is woven into the fabric of Little Italy/Nolita. Legends like De Niro and Scorsese are fans, and you can still feel that old-world soul--right down to the original brick oven relic resting in the basement. Parisi isn't just a deli. It's continuity. It's tradition. It's proof that when you do one thing incredibly well for over a century, people keep coming back. And once you've had The Dennis, you will too.
