I've been going to Alibaba for years. They have really great food across the board with good portion size and the owner is awesome! For takeout, be prepared to double check your order. They almost always forget something. It's a 50/50 chance they forget something in my experience so I make sure to check every time I pickup. They are lucky they have really good food! read more

Yummy stop on the way home from the Camarillo Outlets today at Ali Baba's on the Westside of Simi. The portions here are pretty large, so we shared the chicken shawarma plate and the stuffed salmon between the 3 of us. My dad and I were still a little hungry, so we each ordered a cup of the lentil soup. The salmon was stuffed with garlic, parsley, and lemon (ummm...yummm). The shawarma was cooked perfectly and it made a perfect stuffed pita with their incredible hummus. Seriously, I could've eaten this hummus for days. You can tell the owner takes pride in what he does! The food is healthy, fresh, fast and absolutely exquisite. The staff works so hard to take calls, take care of tables, set-up to-go orders, all while cutting fresh veggies that come off a truck. The owner feeds the homeless on Sundays. The food we got was just okay. The sides were kind of tasteless. I never heard of serving bland rice and mixed american vegetables with a Mediterranean plate. I guess they want you to order the $9 hummus? No sauces either. The service was slow and it wasn't crowded. I orders a Turkish coffee and it was nothing like any other one I have had and it took 30 minutes to get it. The Kibbe was over bartered and fried to oblivion. The atmosphere was clean and plain. The food is not the same, I don't think even the recipes are the same. Can totally tell this place is trying to cut every corner they can from quality of food, (pita bread was not fresh, rice lacked flavor, small tablespoon of salad served). service, (only 1 front house and one cook, waited 25 minutes to take our order). Do yourself a favor go to the original restaurant in Newbury Park and bypass this 2nd location in Simi Valley. read more

Stopped for lunch during a pandemic, and the limited outdoor seating was unusable for dining due to heavy cigarette smoking at a table. Neither of the other two tables were in use for obvious reason. The smokers did not appear to be dining. Asked the guy behind the counter if that was the smoking section, and he said it was! Hell of a way to do business... Delicious food and friendly service! Located in a strip mall in Simi Valley, this restaurant serves delicious food at very affordable prices. It was my first time at the restaurant and upon entering, we were greeted by very friendly servers. Our waiter recommended shawarma but I decided to try the shrimp kebabs. The entree came with generous amount of shrimp with sides of rice, salad and steamed vegetables. The shrimps were grilled to perfection and the while dish felt light and delicious. The prices are very affordable with most entrees around $13 to $20. The restaurant looks to be family owned with many locals coming regularly. Highly recommend! read more

First time at this restaurant. The server came right up, greeted us, nice start to the evening. Asked for veggie mousakaa and was told it would take 40 minutes. This surprised me as this information was not mentioned on the menu. Anyway, I reevaluated my choices. Decided on sharing hummus, foul modamas, baba ghanoush and a small Greek salad. My hubby ordered the chicken kufteh plate and red lentil soup. Wasn't too long before our food began arriving. Hubby's red lentil soup was yellowish green and seemed to contain other veggies, too. It was good. His chicken plate also contained yellow rice and a small salad. The chicken was good, not great. The server left the dishes, told us to enjoy our meal and began to walk away. We reminded her about the Greek salad and she shortly returned bringing it along. The side dishes were all good, once again, just not great, missing that very special wow factor. A generous basket of pita bread arrived warm, initially soft then began to harden like a pita cracker. The centers of the pita were sorta soft, it was tough though. Perhaps, it's a different type of pita than I'm used to eating. I couldn't separate the sides to create a pocket. To get to the bathrooms, one has to walk through a storage area that contained boxes of lemons and other cooking items. I realize it's a small point, however, consider a curtain so that when having dinner, the storage area isn't visible to dining patrons. And when we finished eating, our table was partially cleared, the check arrived and we waited for the server to return to collect it. There was only one server in the room and she was doing her best. After waiting a bit, we got her attention and gave her the check. All in all, our meal was good, however, Ali Baba's Cafe, you've gotta kick it up a notch to earn more stars. read more

First off, the community engagement of this establishment is 5 stars in itself. This small business says they care, and it shows all around when they give back to the community. A true "everyone eats" restaurant. I've never eaten in the restaurant. All my orders are take out. But looking inside, the place seems comfy, well lit, and spacious. The take out packaging is great.
