Went here with my wife. Looked like they just started their business. Very nice customer service, the food is wicked good, pretty affordable, and relatively healthy as well. I hope they do well, cause we are making it a regular spot to eat. The only negative, its not the most elegant place, but its clean and simple. Would recommend getting chicken falafel meal. To all my foodie friends... you must try Ali Baba's! We ate there yesterday and had a delicious lunch! We shared an amazing gyro, and the chicken special. The rice was spiced perfectly! I would have been happy just eating a bowl of rice! But it came with two grilled chicken leg/thighs and a lightly dressed salad for $8.00! The gryo was huge and filled with beef, tomatoes and pickles. The owner gave us a sample of the most delicious baklava I have ever had. They were small and delicate, with just s touch of honey! We have tried the tabbouli, hummus, falafel, chicken shawarma, falafel wrap, and gyro in the course of our three visits. For the most part, we really enjoyed everything. I didn't give it five stars because of three things. The gyro was not in a pita, it was in a tortilla. The hummus was served with a tortilla instead of pita bread as listed on their menu, which I thought was a strange way to eat hummus. I also think that they should stay open a bit later. Seven is so early to close if you are serving dinner. If I was just rating the food, I would day 5 stars. read more

I grew up in the Bay Area, which has more than its share of amazing Middle Eastern cuisine. I have to say Ali Baba is as good (or maybe even better) than most of the restaurants down there! We tried the chicken shawarma, and it is sooooo good! Moist, mildy zesty, and just the right amount of garlic :) And for $7 you get a huge wrap, which I shared with hubby. Sooo...Fiance n I tried this place out for the first time today, after plenty of review reading on it I decided we would check it out...I was extremely confident walking into this establishment on what to expect all around and I have to say I, nor my fiance was disappointed! The food was fresh and tasted so good! The meats were moist,juicy and flavorful but had that wonderful slight crunch on the outside...the hummus was to die for! Oh yeah...so the atmosphere was pleasant...the service was top notch, my fiance and the cashier totally nerded out over StarWars lol very friendly people...I knew that it was a small space if we wanted to dine in..which we did but hey, this chico heat is killer this summer n it was wayyy cooler in there than outside so yeah, we opted to stay n eat cause there was room to do so...wish it was a bigger place but hey, its downtown Chico n alot of the stores n such are kinda small so meh! Didnt warrant taking a star away for that!! Place seats bout 16 people..i think most people get it to go so whatever...we were pleased! Portions were plenty and the prices were really reasonable for the amount of food given... we will def be returning to eat here often...guess that will put as as regulars lol...but it was that amazing! Excellent food the falafels are so delicious and very reasonably priced. The chicken kabob plate is the way to go.

Our first meal at Ali Baba was a takeout chicken shawarma sandwich and beef gyro. Both excellent! The side of falafel was tasty too. We tried to also order tabouleh and baba ganoush - they were out of both for the day, which was a little disappointing. We'll look forward to trying again sometime soon! read more

My girlfriend and I came here once due to us starving while exploring downtown. Good god the food is absolutely delicious! They also use jasmine rice as their humus is amazing. The staff is very nice and extremely polite. I ordered the flaffel the first time and my girlfriend got the chicken kebab. We were both extremely satisfied and the price is very reasonable. We got there when they were closing but they told us we could eat there if we would like which meant a lot. We switched our order to take out (we didn't know they closed at 7).
