I genuinely wish I could give this restaurant ZERO stars. My sister and I have been to Rome many many times, we decided to try this restaurant based on all the hype around it. All I can say is, true Italians will NOT come to this restaurant. After sharing our experience at this restaurant with locals they all came forward with similar stories. The photo attached is genuinely what I was served. My sister and I ordered separate fettuccine alfredo dishes. When they brought it out in one dish they cut the dish and half and gave it to us. We were so genuinely confused why they gave us one portion and split it for two people. To preface this is the photo I took before I even took a bite. They didn't try to clean the plate or anything, this is the portion they thought would be acceptable for the ridiculous amount they charge. Taste wise, trader joe's have a better fettuccine sauce. The ambiance was terrible also, we were treated differently because we look Italian. The obvious Americans, blonde hair blue eyed white girls, in the restaurant were treated so much better. They were given free appetizers and drinks. It wasn't just a pretty privilege phenomenon, Every white person was treated better than people who looked ethnic. Visit was not disappointing. Our tour group was welcomed with a big smile. We started our dining with wine- not that best I had but reasonably fair. Appetizer, salad followed and then the most awaited meal - fettuccine alfredo. Being in the original home of this famous pasta added much joy to the experience. The chef prepared the dishes in front of our own eyes. The taste was simply the best. I enjoyed each cheesy string as it melted in my mouth. Ending the night with tiramisu as dessert and can't complaint how satisfying it was. Italian meal at its best right there at the city that everybody wants to be. The place is a tourist hot spot but it was a magical place for first time visitor especially a fettuccine lover. Lots of photo frames of famous people who visited the restaurant were mounted and cant help myself to look for Mr Alfredo's portrait. There is a small gift center and brought home a boxed fettucine with me. The service was great- loved being in a company of people who simply has same passion - food ! read more

Horrible. The service is mediocre. The bread is hard and stale. I have a video showing how I can knock it against a porcelain plate, and it makes a large noise. The artichoke was inedible. The dessert that they are "known for" is basically a dry Hawaiian bread with plain whipping cream, and some orange marmalade on the side. The wine selection is average. Oh my. I will say the service was good and the wine was excellent. That's where the good times end. The salad and now, more importantly, importantly the pasta were awful. I cannot take away the fact that this restaurant invented fettuccini Alfredo, so it's not fair for me to say that the sauce was underwhelming, but I can say that the noodles served were so weak and thin that they couldn't hold up the sauce. The noodles snapped when you try to spin them because the sauce is so thick. My fianceés amatricianna was equally bad and was so salty as to be indeible. There were also gnats flying around us the entire time, coming from a dirty corner of the ceiling light. TOURIST TRAP Heard about this place from tiktok and am so very disappointed. The price you are paying for tasteless pasta and bad service is insane. I was a server and understand how hard it is to work in the restaurant business. With that in mind, the servers were just plain rude, had a major attitude and were inattentive. They upcharge you for everything! I have been in Italy 8 days and have eaten out every single meal. Never once have I been charged for the bread they bring to your table before you eat. They also add on a 10% gratuity automatically and after receiving such bad service this was very frustrating to see on my bill. I ordered the Alfredo along with the meatballs from the main course section. The Alfredo was very bland and the meatballs were dry and had a gross taste to them. So glad we went with the "when in Rome" mantra and ordered the fettuccine Alfredo- it's really silly if you don't. It's different than the stuff of the same name in the States, so much lighter and very enjoyable. Great salad and the Jewish artichokes are a newfound love here in Rome. The waiter did ask if we wanted to add a tip on the credit card charge--even though we all know that's an American thing, not European. And meanwhile Americans tend to get screwed by that when Europeans dine stateside. I was certainly on the receiving end of that numerous times. Glad we happened in here. Rule #1 - have a reservation, otherwise don't bother. We were seated right away at our reservation time. We were however seated in a back corner and often got forgotten by wait staff. The cheese platter we started with was unreal, definitely the underdog of the meal. Our alfredo wasn't made table side sadly, the waiter was on the other side of the room and just dropped it off so we didn't get the historical spiel nor the spectacle. It was still good. My husband ordered the lamb which ended up being so delicious. The tiramisu was surprisingly one of my favorites in Italy. It's light handed on the espresso which I normally don't prefer but the mascarpone was so delicious that I plowed through it in just a few bites. Definitely worth ordering. All in all a fun historical experience if you have a reservation but not worth waiting 2 hours without a reservation or repeating on another trip. read more

This was the first restaurant we hit in Rome, and while it was good, it wasn't anything to write home about. We went around 8pm on a Sunday night. All of the servers there spoke English well, but they weren't particularly personable or well-mannered. Additionally, it was quite stuffy in the restaurant, and they sat me and my family in a very tight corner of it, despite the fact that there were many open tables. The food was pretty good, but not absolutely amazing. The best dish we ordered was probably the cut beef, which had a very good balsamic sauce. If you do end up going here, I recommend ordering it. However, it probably won't be enough to fill you completely, so consider ordering a side too. Their classic dish--the Alfredo--left a lot to be desired. It was essentially just melted pecorino cheese, and for the hiked up price of 20€, I had hoped for more than that. I advice against getting dessert, as neither dish we had was very good. The vanilla iced "soufflè" was essentially just a cylinder of vanilla ice cream. Would likely not return, although it was fine for the time being. read more

We have no regrets going to Alfredos to experience the Fettuccine Alfredo, which originated at this restaurant but we were disappointed in the lack of enthusiasm from the waiter (not a typical fun Italian server, just seemed to be doing his job). They charge 10% service fee which is incredibly high compared to the horrible service. Apparently this is the birthplace of fettuccini Alfredo... and I wish I could say it was the best I've had. It's very different from American fettuccini Alfredo. It doesn't have the heavy cream that Americans are used to... nor the added chicken or maybe mushrooms. Here it is just straight up parmesean?? They mix the cheese right in front of you. It's a bed of noodles covered in nothing other than cheese in a 1:1 ratio... and they quickly mix it together with much skill! It's a really cool experience! However, for me the cheese was personally too overpowering. They tell you to eat it while it's hot... and I think the reason is as the cheese cools... it gets clumpy and just tastes meh. However these were some of the best noodles I've had not including the sauce! Others in our group loved it... so personal preference differs. I also didn't like there was hair in my pasta... saw it midway and was meh... My favorite dish here was actually the appetizer... the eggplant parmesean is to die for... I wish that was my main course. Their tomato basil sauce and what other herbs... it was like eggplant lasagna. So rich and creamy and flavorful! Be sure to get this!! Food aside: service is great! Amazing service, food, staff, and atmosphere. Stumbled across Alfredo the first night in Rome. Even in our dishelved state with our airplane clothes on literally two hours after we landed, they had no problem letting us in. I would recommend you dress nicely when coming here. As soon as we walked in, we knew we were not dressed properly. We were also skeptical that this was the birthplace of alfredo from the plaque on the wall outside but it really is. The food here is amazing and our experiences were great each time. Even though my wife always wants to experience new restaurants, we ended up coming back three times over our one week stay in Rome. Also, dress nicely when going. You typically will also be treated minutely better when dressed better. We tried all three tasting menus and each one is unique and great. I was so excited to try this place and really wanted to like it, but unfortunately there was nothing great about it. We made a reservation for 9:00PM and the reservation line was very long and chaotic (maybe taking too many reservations) so we weren't seated for a while. Once we were seated, our server wasn't very welcoming and when we requested to share the fettuccine, they had highly suggested we get our own because the portions are "pretty small", so we did. We didn't even eat half of it. It's definitely a meal that you can only have a couple of bites of before getting tired of it. It's very pricey considering the service and all. Our server never came back to us until we found another one to request the check. Once we did, we waited over 30 minutes for the check and the server was rude. I think the hype is real. Apparently this is where Fettuccine Alfredo was born! We (of course) ordered it, the tagliatelle bolognese, and the beef meatballs. The fettuccine involves no cream...instead it is mixed with huge heaps of butter and parmesan cheese. Absolutely delicious but don't look at your plate afterwards to see all that congealed butter. The bolognese was perfect- the sauce clung to the pasta which was cooked al dente. The meatballs were in a white wine & lemon sauce - great addition to our meal. We had a reservation at 9 and didn't get greeted until like 9:30. We finally were sat and we ordered an app and fettuccine to share. The waiter told us the portions were tiny and he didn't recommend that. We insisted that we weren't very hungry and that we would have enough. He still insisted we wouldn't be satisfied with 1. We got our food almost 45 mins later, our raw shrimp app was warm, like it had been sitting out. Our 2 fettuccine plates were massive, and neither my girlfriend nor I (a big guy) finished our plate. After being dissatisfied, we just asked to pay. This also took longer than 15 minutes. Finally when I was paying, he asked if I wanted to leave a tip, I said "no" (thinking I'll leave it in cash). The man stops charging me to stare at me because he thought I wasn't leaving a tip, which he didn't deserve in the first place. He didn't proceed charging me until I explained I have cash for tip. I also think I wouldn't be so upset if there wasn't a sorority table next to us. Bunch of morons being loud. It was hot inside as well. Still do not recommend. Overall, terrible service, below par food, and they're just riding the wave of having the original fettuccine, which wasn't special. We had dinner at this lovely and romantic restaurant. Before we ordered, the owner stopped by and gave us recommendations on the dishes along with the history of the establishment. We ordered beef carpaccio as an appetizer and 2 fettuccine alfredo as the main course. The beef carpaccio was tasty and we added some of the delicious balsamic vinegar to add some sweet but great flavor. We have been in Italy for one week and this restaurant has the best balsamic vinegar. Once we got the fettuccine alfredo, the waiter mixed and created our dishes in front of us.
