This is a really cool cafe. I've done pickup from here before but recently came to dine in for baklava. The food is a little pricey. The baklava was tasty and the cafe is really cozy. I found it weird that they don't serve you on real plates. We were given a sealed box of the treats and styrofoam containers as plates. I asked another friend about that and they said the same thing. The cafe closes at 8:30pm and at 8:25pm they start shutting off lights. We were finished with our food, they could have just politely said we are closing in 5 minutes. Apparently they do that often. For such a cute and cozy cafe, they definitely didn't act like they wanted people to stay and eat there.
Really cool Syrian cafe with traditional food and drinks. It was pretty packed when we came here around lunch time with pretty much every table taken. I mainly came for the sweets, was able to get a tray of pistachio and walnut baklava, but they had a few other sweets like lady fingers and purses as well. Baklava was very good, very nice crispiness that held up for the week. I would've preferred it to have a bit more nuts and be a bit sweeter, but personal preference. Got the cheese fatayer which is just basically a cheesy bread with some herbs. So tasty, really enjoyed that! Also got a lamb kabob which came with some bread as well. The flavor here was good but didn't blow me away. Touch on the dry side too. Probably would get something else next time. They've also got coffee. I elected to get the Turkish coffee. It was thick and came in a pretty small cup, about a 3rd of that is the grounds. Fun to try, but very bitter, wouldn't recommend this either. Overall, really cool shop that seems very popular. Lots of interesting menu items to try. Definitely suggest checking it out!
Always have an incredible experience at Aleppo Sweets! Their Baklava ( especially the one with chocolate and Pistacchio) is to die for and is incredible!!! I tried their Hibiscus tea for the first time today and was more than impressed! Highly recommend this business.
This place exceeded my expectations. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. We were there on a Friday evening and it was packed, which apparently is the norm so be prepared to wait. We shared the chicken shawarma wrap, hummus, muhammra and za'atar fatayer. The wrap was delicious - the chicken was seasoned really well with a nice garlicky sauce, just really good. We ended the meal with baklawa, a slice of harisa and a pot of ginger, cardamom and mint tea and it was all as good as other reviewers have described. Glad we made time to stop here, so nice to support a local, family-run business that also provides friendly service and quality fare.
I've had baklava from Aleppo Sweets before but it was during a collaboration with Like No Udder. I've never actually been in their brick and mortar until now and it is very nice inside. I went in to pick up an online order and was surprised by how big it was inside. Every table was taken and it was extremely busy which is a good sign. The gentleman who waited on me was very friendly and helpful. I wasn't aware that they had a full menu of food, I thought it was only a bakery with delicious baklava. I'll need to visit again soon and sit down for some tea and a savory dish.
Rating 4.3 Came to try some of their desert menu due yo recommendation by a friend. It's located in providence and it's a bit hard to find as the place looks like an old house and sign is small and hard to see unless you are close. Inside is pretty and nicely decorated with dim lighting and middle eastern background music. Smaller place but have some small seatings and a counter here you place an order. The place has food as well but we came for desert and drinks. We ordered a box of baklava assortment of 4 including chocolate pistachio, classic, lady finger, and stuffed walnut. We also got Turkish coffee with milk and Black berry drink. All of the baklavas were good but my personal favorite was chocolate. Ladyfinger was also nice and smooth. It was distinctively less sweet which was interesting. I was not too crazy about the black berry drink as it kind of tasted like an artificial berry syrup. Turkish coffee was good and paired well with the sweets. Service was good and relatively quick. Overall it's a good soot for drink and sweets that are unique. I'm interested in coming back to try their food menu as well.
The food, the service and the ambiance is always amazing. This is one of my top 5 restaurants to come to. I enjoy bringing my family here. My favorites are the lamb and chicken kebab with labneh. The hibiscus tea is very good. And a baklava to go.
This is a 45 minute drive for me and it's worth it. The service is always great and the food is even better .
Let me start by saying that the food was absolutely delicious and stunningly beautiful - a true feast for all the senses. The reason for the 3 stars was the confusing service model and unhelpful staff. I didn't realize that it was a counter service restaurant and apparently you are supposed to get a table before you order?? I still don't know! When I asked for clarification/direction from the staff, they seemed annoyed and the man who took my order brusquely escorted me to a table in their outdoor alley space where it was shady and cold. The chicken kabob and cheese fatayer were outstanding. I might go back to try some of the other menu items but would probably just get take-out.

I came back to try their food on a Wednesday evening. At first, there was no other groups but then people starting to come in. We first grabbed menus and sat at a table to decide what we wanted to order. After deciding, we went to the counter to order and was given a table number. We had their Chicken Shawarma Wrap, Fatayer Cheese, Fatayer Pepper & Lamb, Iced Hibiscus Tea, and Iced Blackberry Drink. It was our first time having fatayer which is softly baked bread, served as a flatbread or pinched into the shape of a 'boat' and filled with toppings. It tasted like a mini pizza. The Chicken Shawarma wrap had flavorful marinated chicken and the wrap was crispy. I liked the little pickles that came with it as well. For the drinks, I really liked the blackberry drink. It was sweet. Inside is cozy and the tabletop water fountain was very calming. Service was great as always.
This place was recommended through a foodie friend. I came here yesterday with my family. It was such a charming restaurant - perfect spot for a rainy day. You order at the counter and then choose a somewhere to sit. We came here around 4pm and it wasn't too busy but by about 7pm it started to. We ordered some Turkish coffee and some baba ganoush and hummus to share- we felt for something light to have till dinner time. I'm not usually a fan of baba ganoush, something about the texture, so I usually go for hummus BUT I always like to try things again in case I develop a liking for it and I will say, THIS baba ganoush is one of the best ones I've ever had. It was so creamy and smokey and just the right texture *for me*. I ended up having more than I said I would. We ordered some of their famous baklava to take home and they were delectable. The next time I'm back in Providence I definitely have to come back here and try their kabobs and wraps from how good it looked when the servers brought them out to other tables.

Aleppo Sweets is so much more than a place to eat - it is a beautifully decorated, serene retreat that feels made for lingering. It is the kind of place where you can meet friends, share a pot of tea, break bread & let the world slow down for a while. We started with a pot of black tea with fresh mint because, as they say, Syrians are ALL about TEA! It was perfectly balanced, not too strong, wonderfully refreshing, with just the right hint of fresh mint. A lovely way to ease into our meal. I ordered the hummus, an authentic Syrian version from the Akhtarini home. Silky pureed chickpeas blended with tahini, garlic, lemon & olive oil, served with warm Syrian bread. Simple, traditional & absolutely delicious. I also had the pepper & lamb fatayer, a popular Syrian street food, often eaten on the go, wrapped in paper. The softly baked bread was tender & flavorful, with small pieces of pepper & lamb seasoned with spices & olive oil. I loved the little "boat" shape & the spicy lamb spice topping. Hubby ordered the chicken shawarma wrap. A classic done right: flavorful marinated chicken, banana peppers, pickles & garlicky sauce wrapped in bread & grilled under a flatiron. He was very happy with his choice! What I loved the whole experience of Aleppo Sweets! The peaceful atmosphere, beautiful surroundings, welcoming feel & food that feels deeply connected to Syrian tradition & hospitality. I'm absolutely in love with Aleppo Sweets. It's beautifully decorated and everything just looks picture perfect. It's super clean. The service is phenomenal. The ladies who are working when I visited last were just so lovely and even gave me some food to take home for free because I mentioned that I had wanted to try it and was going to come next time to do so. Totally unexpected and such a kind gesture and the food was amazing. Everything I ordered was delicious from the ginger, mint and cardamom tea pot to the traditional cheese boats. The different types of baklava were delicious and they use a lot of pistachios which I am a big fan of. I really enjoyed the lentil soup, it had good flavor and my friend really liked her hummus. This is such a great spot and I definitely need to get myself here more. It does only have street parking, but we were able to find parking in the area pretty easily without having to walk too far. They do close fairly early at 8 PM so make sure you get there with plenty of time. You do bus your own table, so that's just a reminder for folks to not leave your items on the table. I stopped in for a light dinner and some dessert since it was too late in the day for coffee drinks, but I'd love to try the cafe items another time. I got the Mezze pick 2 'sampler' of appetizers/side dishes, and got the Hummus (which was creamy and came with a lot of olive oil, but felt a little dry to me) and the Stuffed Grape Leaves (I was very grateful they were vegetarian as that is not always the case, and they were flavorful without being too acidic). It was a good amount of food for a small dinner, but could've definitely shared the hummus and had extra to take home. I tried a bite of my friend's Cheese Fatayer and it was divine - the crust was soft and chewy and perfectly golden, I wish I'd gotten my own! It's beautifully decorated in here, and all of the dishes are so ornate and luxurious. The service was so sweet and friendly! There is free ice tap water to drink. I also ordered an Iced Hibiscus Tea, and it came with the cutest bubble ice and was tasty and unsweetened. Everything felt very authentic, and it seems like a small, family-run, salt of the earth place. Pricing is a little higher than average, but the quality and authenticity justifies it. For a sweet treat, I got a single Lady Finger with Crushed Pistachio, and the flaky layers melted in my mouth! It was kind of like baklava in a tube / rounded form. It was amazing and I ate it faster than I would've liked because it was so good, but then it was gone too fast! I loved it here and would come again - street parking was a little busy on a Friday night, but still doable, you might just have to pop down a side street to find a spot that doesn't require you to parallel park. They were closing for the day and turning people away at the door about an hour before their Google listing said they closed (Google said 9:30, they were essentially closed by 8:30pm), so maybe call ahead to confirm hours. read more

I've only ever gotten the Baklava at Aleppo Sweets and it's very good. It's definitely an authentic Syrian restaurant with a full lunch, dinner, and coffee menu as well, I just haven't happened to stop in for a meal yet. It's generally very busy and you wait in line to order at the counter. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and always feels warm and inviting. Most recently I got a box of 12 Baklava with half chocolate, half pistachio. Both were very good, but the chocolate ones really hit the spot for a dense nutty experience that also fulfilled a chocolate craving. I'd come in with the intention of getting some vegan Baklava for my mostly vegan parents, but they were out just after noon. I don't know if it's best to call ahead for such things, or I was just too late in the day. Regardless, it was enjoyed by me and my parents. read more

Feels like being transported to a middle eastern travel adventure in the best way! Was in love with the ambiance in Aleppo Sweets and the authentic family feeling behind the counter. The strawberry lemon smoothie was the perfect refreshing treat on a hot day and I would deem this baklava the best I've ever had. My photos don't do it justice. Pricey little pieces of sweet heaven but well worth it! read more

Aleppo Sweets is a beautiful café serving delicious Syrian food and desserts. I tried the Fatayer, a flatbread with toppings, which was tasty and made for a great snack. I also had a Turkish coffee that came in a charming copper cup. The café can get lively in the evening, and it's not the best spot for work or studying since there's no Wi-Fi and few outlets, but the owners don't seem to mind if you're working. It's a perfect place to meet up with friends instead. The desserts are excellent, with flaky puff pastry that isn't overly sweet. read more

Nice food but awkward service They give you menu when you sit down but you have to get up and order/ pay at the counter which is weird in my opinion Ambiance was nice but I won't be dinning in maybe order to go in the future read more

The inside is really pretty, and I'd definitely go back to hang out there. They have some board games you can play. I had the chicken shawarma and baklava with chocolate pistachio. It's my favorite cafe in RI; it's super cute, and the food is reasonable. The service is great. You can refill your water, and you bring your plates back yourself read more

I absolutely LOVE coming here. The food is the best, especially the homemade baklava. Today I told the owner that if i had time i would sit with a pot of their DELICIOUS hot cordamon tea. He says, "Ill pour you a cup" to which i responded, "Oh you dont have to do that." His reply, "Please, it is my gift to you." So sweet. Aleppo SweetS! read more

I always love coming to Aleppo Sweets, they have a fantastic ambience and DELICIOUS food. It is a great place to bring friends and guests when taking them out for food or dessert. This time around my friend and I shared kibbeh, a falafel wrap, lamb fatayer and hummus, and a small pot of hibiscus tea, all were delicious! This is one of many great Arab spots in the area, though it is a little pricier than others, it is well worth the experience. read more

A Refreshing interior with interesting designs and fabrics. Great fresh Middle Eastern food. When it first opened the baklava was top-notch, not sure what happened. Still it's better than packaged. read more

Aleppo Sweets is an amazing spot with a fantastic atmosphere and even better food. We loved the decorations and hanging plants. We ordered variety of dishes to split between three of us. We ordered the spicy chicken shawarma wrap, the spicy falafel wrap, the baba ghanoush, the cheese fatayer, and the musabaha and finished off the meal with an ice cream baklava sweet treat to share. We got two Turkish coffees with milk and a hibiscus iced tea that were delicious complements to the meal. There was a bit of a wait for the coffees, but that's totally understandable considering how they are made! All of the dishes were delicious but the spicy chicken shawarma with a garlic sauce to die for and the pistachio baklava with vanilla ice cream sandwiched between was out of this world good. The ice cream was the perfect consistency and had pistachios pressed into it. It was the perfect dessert to share! read more
I had the Turkish coffee (with milk) and baklava. Both were amazing! I'm not in Providence often but if I ever return, I would definitely visit again. The Turkish coffee was delicious, especially the hint of cardamom and the baklava was super fresh and the perfect balance of flavors. Must visit in Providence! read more
