I really like middle eastern and mediterranean food that I always go to these food places whenever I can. The same reason that led me to try Mandeez. I have read good reviews about the place and it is unique in that it is Yemeni/Mediterranean. I did take out and chose the following: Okra Stew, Chicken Shawarma Over Rice Platter, and a slice of the Pistachio cake. The Okra Stew was very flavorful. I do not eat okra but my husband does, yet I tried the sauce and it was really tasty. I ended up eating a few pieces of the potatoes and carrots in the stew, just to enjoy the sauce. The Chicken Shawarma was okay--not my best order. The chicken is not dry yet the rice was very greasy for my taste. Every spoonful, I could taste the grease. It was not for me. The pistachio cake is delicate and scrumptious. Not too sweet. I might go back and try another dish but would make sure to ask that the rice not be greasy. read more

Mandeez brings the flavors!! This Yemeni & Mediterranean restaurant has been missing from my life!! If you are in this neck of town, don't pass this up. Smaller establishment with 7 tables to choose from. Has dedicated parking lot off the street to use and handicap ramp to use for access if needed. Plenty to choose from on the menu for dine in or take out and halal as well. Staff is very friendly and able to answer any questions needed on the menu or for the specials of the day as they rotate. I can't wait to come back and try some other dishes! I had Kebah, labneh, fahsa with fresh tanoor bread and a pistachio cake to finish off the meal. Oh don't forget the juices available either!! The mint lemon looked refreshing, but I settled on the avocado banana that was amazing! Great flavor profile and the tanoor bread reminded me of time spent abroad enjoying these items in country! I ordered take out on a Thursday afternoon. I struggled a bit with the website because there wasn't any descriptions attached to the menu items. When I grabbed the menu, there were plenty of descriptions so I've attached the menu photos to Yelp. I ordered the Okra Stew and it came with a large side of Rice that was flavored with Mediterranean spices. The stew was delicious with carrots, potatoes, okra, and chunks of lamb meat. Everything was balanced and tasted amazing. It was really good with the rice too if you like to mix the two together. $19.99 (A little pricey for soup) The Greek salad was very good, chopped up with fresh white onions on it. The Greek dressing was fantastic. $10.99 (Would be even better if you can add chicken to it - I'm sure they would be if you asked). Chicken Shawarma was a special for $9.99 made with fresh veggies. Last night I had the best hummus, baba ganoush, samosa, and the absolute best falafel I have ever had in my life, accompanied by delicious tandoor bread and sauces. Rating: 4.5 Came to try this newer middle eastern restaurant for dinner. Wanted to give it a try as it looked promising and there aren't many authentic middle eastern restaurants in RI. Parkings are available. Inside is on the smaller side and only has few seatings. Luckily it was not too busy and was few middle eastern customers which seemed to be regulars. We sat down and looked at the menu. I ordered lemon and mint juice and lamb kabsa. Tried ordering mango juice but was not available at the time. Lemon and mint juice was refreshing. Sort of like lemon slushy with mint. Lamb kabsa was excellent. Large piece of lamb meat that falls right off the bone and spiced rice with great savory flavor from the lamb that must have been cooked together. There was also side of tomato base sauce which brings some acidity to the fatty meat and makes it refreshing. The service was good overall. They did seem to offer tea or coffee as self serve but didn't realize until after finished eating. Overall the place was very good and may be my new favorite go to spot for authentic middle eastern food. Price is on higher side but not too bad comparatively to other place. Our first time experiencing Yemeni cuisine and we enjoyed ourselves very much! The restaurant is small, only about 7 tables, so you need to be lucky or patient, but the staff is warm and welcoming, and it's good to see families there and folks of all ages. The restaurant also does a solid takeout biz. We chose a variety of dishes to try: falafel & hummus, baba ghanoush, fattoush, okra stew, lamb mandi, mushakel khothar, and their homemade tandoori-baked flatbread. This latter - with their excellent baba ghanoush drizzled with a peppery olive oil - was outstanding. I could eat this all day (and night!). So tasty with an irresistible smokiness! The lamb mandi was a lamb shank, very tender, and the basmati rice pilaf was subtle and mild. It came with a piquant garlicky and vinegary condiment that added the right amount of kick. The fattoush was also very flavorful and colorful. The okra stew and mushakel khothar (a vegetable stew) were mildly seasoned and unctuous. The falafel had a very crunchy outside but was a little bland for our taste as was their hummus. Overall an enjoyable and pleasant meal ... but that tandoor bread -wow! read more

I enjoyed my experience! This is a new location of only a couple months that provides indoor seating and a total of 5 seating tables, and take out services. Their menu is limited but very solid and delicious. I ordered the chicken shawarma and it was very soft and well seasoned chicken with rice under, lettuce shreds and dressing. My partner had a lamb dish and it was phenomenal! The meat fell from the bone very easily and was flavorful. Not a lot of places can do lamb well, much less a fall off the bone dish! Lamb was obviously cooked for the proper time, and for a couple of hours. We were served mint lemonade juice and it was very refreshing. The staff was attentive and prompt so the service, and it was observed that they are on top of cleaning! Tables and linens were changed, and a peak in the kitchen was seen to be clean! This is so good. I would need to come back again to try their bread/Fahsa to judge better. But the first impression was very good. The staff were very friendly. The bathroom was clean, so that is a good sign. Yemeni cuisine is my favorite cuisine in the world. Followed by Levantine, then Persian then Italian then Thai then Desi then others. The Hanith was more like a roasted leg of lamb. (usually it's extremely tender bone-in lamb cooked in a fire pit under the ground over hours). Chicken Mandi was so good. Kids chicken nuggets were OK. Don't sleep on this spot!!! We stopped in on a Sunday evening after my husband found it on Google. Staff was super friendly and kind! Prices were good for portions. We started with hummus and their house made bread and it was such a good choice. Followed it up with the lamb kabsa and chicken Mandi. The lamb was cooked so perfectly and both dishes had such flavorful good flavor. They had house made tea too for everyone to try and we loved it! Would totally recommend this spot to check it out. My family (two adults, two tweens) was looking for someplace new to try and found this place on DoorDash. We'd never heard of it, so we searched online for the business and were excited- we're an omnivorous family that loves a little of everything so we were excited to try what this place has to offer! Between the four of us we tried the kebah, beef shawarma, falafel sandwich, shish kebab sandwich, and lamb kabsa. Everything was delicious and richly flavored with wonderful texture as well. We were all completely satisfied. As of now the website is a work in progress so orders made there aren't going through. Since this is a cuisine we're not intimately familiar with, a description of the dishes would be helpful (but we excitedly googled them all in order to make the selections that were most appealing to us). My husband and I have ordered takeout from Mandeez four times in two months and heart to god, it's better than Boston's famous Bab al-Yemen. The chicken mandi is fall-off-the-bone tender and beautifully seasoned, while the lamb haneeth is equally sublime.
