Buyers be warned, the billing of the flamenco diner is a scam!! Make sure you do your math before signing the bill!
The night at Alegria went from good to bad real fast due to the entertainment, food and the final billing.
Let's start with the good part which was the show which I would give it 4 stars. The show started about 45 minutes later than it supposed to. However, the performer and the musicians were marvelous, authentic and entertaining. The stage was raised so that you can clearly see the amazing footwork of the dancer. The only thing was the music was a bit loud. Other than that, the entertainment was superb. Wish the show lasted longer than expected.
As for the diner, I would have given 1 star. It was one of the most uninspiring Spanish food that I've ever had. After having eaten many paellas, I would know better. The paella we received was nothing like what was posted on the yelp. The paella we received was more like gumbos cooked up by amateurs quick cook or dorm food; where the food was super salty and the ingredients are not evenly distributed nor was it appetizing nor appealing. The paella was porridge looking, there's no coloring like the saffron look. We have 3 guests, each one of us ordered paella. One plate has tons of chicken and barely any seafood, one has mostly seafood, one had evenly distributed food. It literally looks like someone scooped a ladle of food and plopped it quickly on the plate and shoved it out of the kitchen.
The dessert flan was decent. However, Tres Leche was god awful! We were told it was a moist cake with 3 types of chocolate. On the menu, it says it's topped with chocolate mousse and drizzled with raspberry sauce. When it arrived, it looked and tasted like a dry day old stale bread soaked in a very bland chocolate milk sauce. I'm glad we paid for $24.99 per person through GoldStar events, because there's no way I would of pay $50 for the so-so food.
When it comes to the final billing, it felt like the establishment was truly run by scamming gypsies!! Granted GoldStar mentioned that there'll be a separate tax, beverages, and gratuities and I would be happy to pay as we did order the extra beverage. But when the bill came, we were given a bill over $200 with vague & questionable numbers on the receipts (and that's with GoldStar discount). It's like a slap in the face! Good thing we checked the menu, because on the menu it says the flamenco diner-show is $38. The server then told us that's the old menu with old price thinking that we're tourists who had no idea. When I ask for the initial bill so I can review the order, the receipt mysteriously disappeared within the 5 minutes window nor can they reprint the receipt. We had to go back and forth with management for the bill adjustment 4 times before finally settling with a reasonable and acceptable bill.
Our bill went from over $200 (with $90+ prepaid), to $98, $48 to finally $29. Really?! I'm no accountant, clearly, you can see there's some funny business with the billings going on here.
With that said, I would not ever return to this shady business nor would I recommend Alegria flamenco dinner show! What a shame as it affects the wonderful performers. read more
