For us, Aldo's is a BI tradition. We can't wait to go once we plan our vacation. The staff is always friendly and lots of familiar faces taking care of you! They hustle, and are attentive! One of my favorites is the pepperoni bread - this years wasn't super hot but it was still delicious - the marinara sauce is traditional delicious tomato sauce - so good for dipping! Everyone loved their food and gave it 5/5 stars! I wish the house salad was more traditional with iceberg or romaine lettuce - but that's maybe just my preference! It's on church street and just off the craziness of the main drag so we usually find it easier to get a Table. It's a cute, mostly outside BI style restaurant...something I look forward to year after year! read more

I wanted to like this place, we had such great experiences with Aldos bakery and bike rentals, but the only thing Italian about this restaurant is the sign out front and the pepperoni bread appetizer which is incredible! Steer clear of the chicken piccata, it was terrible - chicken was tough even with a steak knife, and the pasta and chicken were sitting in a lemon broth, total disaster. The pizza - great crust and cheese, no sauce. There are better options on BI, but absolutely hit up the bakery next door - simply next level. read more

As for the bakery.......... I was disappointed at my stale apple fritter but my little bird friend (a finch) from outside named "Clem" did not seem to mind when I shared a nibble. I did enjoy the eclair and found it delectable but I did not share with Clem. As for the frozen cacao drink. I was very patient with the new staff which was not an issue for me as I waited however it is really just chocolate milk and I was hoping for the frozen aspect but I suppose we can't all get what we want. You can't go wrong with Aldo's on Block Island. I had the Italian sandwich and it was amazing! The meat was piled high and sliced so thin it almost melts in your mouth. Spencer had the Westsider and just devoured it, so good. K and Coop shared a personal pepperoni but should have split a medium. They loved it. Amy got the Greek salad and said it was good, no gushing over that one but everything else was delicious. Back to the Italian sandwich, it was killer. If you don't feel like a sandwich then order the Italian sandwich as a starter and have them slice it into 6 pieces for the table. It's a great idea, do that. Enjoy! read more

I ordered an eggplant grinder. The bread wasn't toasted . When I picked it up the bread was stuck to the plate. The eggplant wasn't cooked well. There was a glob of mozzarella cheese and some tasteless marinara sauce . I have eaten here before . I would not order this item again . read more

This restaurant is the perfect italian restaurant for an island. its way better than one would think especially with some of the reviews. It has all the italian staples, the restaurant is large , and its perfect for families. My son had a cheese pizza, my wife had chicken parmigiana, and I had veal parmigiana. They were all good and to top it off, the wine list was perfect and got a bottle of la crema pinot noir for under $50. Went for dinner and sat at the bar. The bartenders and staff were very attentive and welcoming. We both started with a Caesar salad which was very delicious and fresh. My husband had a veal parmigiana sandwich, didn't get a picture but he said was the best veal parmigiana he's ever had. I got the seafood pesto and it was amazing! The world nags were pretty good but no celery, the blue cheese dressing wasn't bad but it was a very small portion. While we were sitting at our table waiting for the bill, a staff member (not our server) came up to us saying "I hate to be that guy, but are you leaving because I have another party waiting". We had only been there an hour. I told him we were waiting for the bill. I felt insulted. Then as I was paying the bill I flagged him down and told him we were leaving. He then said I didn't have to tell him that and then called me a "fuc$&ing As&$hole". I asked his name and he said "Aldo". Unbelievable that he called his customers names - with that kind of language. I didn't deserve that. I wonder if he was on something...or maybe just having a really bad day. Been there many many times over many years. But no more after that bizarre experience with "Aldo". Also I, while I'm at it, the food is very average and drinks are weak and over priced. read more

I booked a weekend getaway at Block Island for my boyfriend's 28th birthday and we had dinner at Aldo's restaurant to celebrate! I ordered a delicious ice-cream cake from Aldo's bakery next door (about 2 weeks prior) and when we arrived I secretly made arrangements with the owner / wait staff to have the cake come out after dinner and it was a huge success. The chicken & veal parm was excellent, the sauce on the pasta was very flavorful and the fried mozzarella we had for our app was perfectly cooked. We noticed these really funny shirts and purchased 4, 2 in each style to match LOL! The owner was very sweet & treated us just like family. This is a very cute family owned business with great food, nice vibes & great shirts! A must visit for great Italian food on Block Island! read more

This restaurant was mad funny. This fucking waitress walked over and stole this customer's table while they were almost done eating cause they were talking to much and were there for to long. The food was good and the garlic bread was gas I would highly recommend it. Our waiter seemed to be in a bad mood but I understand why there are a bunch of people there and not a lot of waiters. Dined there tonight. Food mediocre at best. I spent $22 for a 2 topping calzone which had more dough than topping. But the winner lol is if u order a sandwich which my wife did....$13.99 for chicken parmesan. Nowhere on menu does it say nothing comes with it (super tourist trap). Server says "fries with that"? Of course wife said yes thinking its included. Nope a tiny order comes next to sandwich and bill comes and $6 added on. Waitress should have said $6 extra and let us decide. Very deceiving. Much better options to choose from without the deceitfulness. For the record, the chicken parmesan was decent but not worth $20 for a sandwich and fries. Super deceiving. Wont be back. They have a bakery too....probably charge you $5 extra for toast with your eggs and bacon. read more

Love love love Aldo's. We visit for multiple weeks each summer and frequently can be found at Aldo's. My grandmother has a severe reaction to gluten and they have the best GF pizzas and pastas for her. Pepperoni bread, Zuppa di Clams and Penne Vodka are my go to orders. If they have the cheese wheel, the flaming cheese wheel pasta is tasty and a treat to watch! They make it table-side in a giant wheel of cheese. The summer smash cocktail is also AMAZING. Excellent service and food. The owners are almost always on site and available. You can tell how much they care about their guests and their business. read more

WARNING... ANYONE with a GLUTEN allergy! Be very cautious if you desire to eat here. I was glutened and became violently ill within 3 hours... Our waiter was specifically told that I had a gluten ALLERGY and I was served gluten pizza and he acted as if it was nothing and said he was sorry and he would get me the correct pizza. he acted as if it was just a big whoops and shrugged it off - he brought the bill over to us and said " it was probably my fault because I didn't actually hit the gluten-free key Soooo I did give you a little something off a whole $5 off the bill. Meanwhile I was violently sick the entire night... Even took the earlier Ferry home the next day so I could get to my own surroundings and be more comfortable. My birthday dinner was ruined... needless to say that our last night at the hotel was ruined as well we were really looking forward to celebrating my birthday. My life for at least the next few weeks will be totally altered and at times unbearable. yes when I was there sick I did write to the establishment and Anna P wrote back (see attached my feel better soon letter from them lol) Thanks but no thanks! as a reminder this was the beginning of their busy season and can only imagine what happens when they are busier! I did not eat at the restaurant, but spent $30 in the bakery. I will never go back. I bought donuts, pasteries, cinnamon bun and cake that I was told was made today. I know for sure that not one of those items was made today. The bun would make a great hockey puck and I specifically asked when it was made. I was told that everything is made fresh in the same day. My father owned a bakery, so I know what fresh baked goods feel and taste like. The fact that I was lied to about the freshness of the product is even worse than how stale they were. We went here for dinner and were very satisfied with the food. The stuffies were great. The tortellini dish was good too. I don't remember if they said cheese filled but almost seemed like they were filled with some kind of seafood. The Alfredo was so creamy and rich! And probably the best of all was the grandmas pizza. AWFUL ESTABLISHMENT! By far the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. We were greeted by a young hostess named Yovanna and explained that we had a party of 7. After consulting with the owner of the restaurant, Anna, she explained that we had limited options as there were reservations. We were understanding of the situation but expressed that we did not want to sit in the sun. After a few minutes the owner came over and gestured us to follow and we did. Our hostess began setting up the table and was later scolded by the owner that it wasn't properly centered with the window. She then began to say "I don't understand the language barrier here, I don't speak Chinese." Referring the hostess. Myself and the rest of my party were appalled with the way she was treating her employees. Aldo's is like your one stop on Block Island. They have a bakery, moped rentals, and of course; the restaurant. My party and I ended up at Aldo's after being turned away by the staff at "Dead Eye Dicks" because our large party would have thrown their system of assigning tables to the servers out of whack. When we arrived at Aldo's we were welcomed and greeted by a very accommodating and friendly staff. We were seated immediately without any fuss. From the minute we walked through the archway we were not disappointed. Once we were seated the waiter took our drink and appetizer order. We ordered a round of usual seafood appetizers, stuffies, crab cakes, and mussels. In addition to these tasty items someone ordered prosciutto wrapped Brie. I didn't have any, but the ladies at the table loved it. The Brie wheel was topped with seasonal fruit compote. The entrees tasted just as good as they looked. As the staff was bringing out the entrees, I eyed up every single dish at the table wondering if I should have ordered that particular dish. My sidekick, new yelper, and food blogger Casey D ordered a pasta dish packed with olives, sundried tomatoes, and shrimp. My wife ordered the linguini with clam sauce and her sister had this enormous seafood pasta dish with plenty of clams, shrimp, and lobster. It is as if this dish had every thing caught at sea that day. The respective three dishes were served with wheat pasta. The fact that you could substitute wheat pasta went over quite well with the ladies at the table that decided to monitor their points and calories while on vacation Once my entree arrived I realized I made the perfect choice. I ordered the scallops Carolina; a pasta dish with pan seared sea scallops, pancetta, tomatoes, and white wine. That dish was packed with so many flavors. Each ingredient complimented the dish. Now I wouldn't normally be interested in Italian food while vacationing on an Island full of seafood. It is comforting to know that should you feel the need to cleanse your pallet of seafood, or choose to mix your seafood with Italian, it is comforting know that Aldo's is there to satisfy your taste buds. read more
