The warm lobster roll had a good amount of lobster and tasted fresh. Fries were hot and crispy. Calamari was also a good portion - the batter was nice and light and perfectly flash fried. We liked the wasabi aioli drizzled lightly on top for a nice twist. Service was quick, relaxed and friendly. Server forgot one of our beers but brought it out shortly after we reminded him. You know when you're asked "if you were on death row, what would you your last meal be?"... well, my answer used to be steak, potatoes, and green beans. Now, after eating what I consider one of my all time best meals ever, my answer will be "Dead Eye Dick's ribeye with their fingerling potatoes and mixed greens". That ribeye was full of flavor- an explosion of heaven in every bite. Due to my extensive list of allergies including shellfish, they baked it to avoid cross contamination. It had a charred taste on the outside followed by a deep savory mix of perfectly prepared meat. It wasn't dry at all, and at the risk of sounding cliche "it melted in my mouth" (if meat can even do that!). The fingerling potatoes and mixed greens complemented the ribeye perfectly. It was a large portion so I shared with my friends, and surprisingly I still I had some left over. Our server, Alex Jackson, went above and beyond in accommodating my dietary needs while meeting my friends' requests for shellfish as well (do they want me to get sick ??? lol) Their food was brought out separately. He also made sure we had enough drinks and asked us if we needed anything a few times. This seaside restaurant overlooking New Harbor in Block Island boasts spectacular views, exceptional service, and outstanding food. The interior is tastefully decorated. It is a bit pricier than some other restaurants on the island, but it is worth every penny. P.S. I honestly don't even know where to begin. Everything I tasted at Dead Eye Dicks's was incredible. For me, the stars of the show were the cocktails and this unbelievable lobster truffle Fettucini. I ate every last bite. The flavor is rich and comforting - and the lobster - wow. It's not all claws so you get the meat of the tail and it's just ‍ . The island fog was delightful. We came here because some locals say that DED's is the best restaurant in town. THERE IS NO FRIED FOOD MENU, to the dismay of my dining partner. She wanted fried shrimp, so our server asked the chef to make that as a special request. It came out hot and crispy, and my friend enjoyed it a lot. I ordered the hot lobster roll, which came with a side of sriracha butter sauce. I dipped my lobster in it and put some on my roll. It was so good. TIP: Squeeze some lemon on both the sauce and lobster for a fantastic flavor boost. Both orders came with fries, made from fresh-cut potatoes. They were hot, crunchy and tasty, and a dip in ketchup made them taste even better. This restaurant is only a five minute taxi ride from the ferry. There were shops nearby the restaurant, but they were closed because it is early season. The season kicks off in June when fishermen start catching striped bass, which is the island's signature fish. Tourists from all over the world come to Block Island, just to have some. My dining partner and I plan to return to DED's later on this summer to see how they prepare striped bass. read more

Good place with good food with nice views. There are three seating options here: inside, outside on the deck, or on the grass. On the deck it was. We found it to be a little cooler and breezier then the grass. Starting out with the cocktail, the Sailor's Painkiller. Mount gay rum, coconut, pineapple, topped with nutmeg. Absolutely refreshing and outstanding! We tried two of the lunch sandwiches. The first was the swordfish ruben. It comes on marble bread and is very lightly toasted. The flavor was OK. The sandwich was decent. Beside the swordfish you get coleslaw and Russian dressing. More dressing and better toasted would have made this sandwich much better. The second sandwich was the tuna melt. Likewise, it comes on a toasted marble bread. That too comes with coleslaw on the sandwich. If it's not coleslaw, it's some sort of green. Either way, it has for a nice flavor. Again, if the bread was better toasted it would make the experience a bit better. The sandwiches come with fries. We asked if there are other options we were offered a side salad. It was a good call, the vegetables were fresh and the dressing was outstanding. By the way, this is a $2 charge for a salad substitute. Overall pleased with the experience. read more

Dead eye Dick's is a treasure tucked away! We had an assortment- the Spoon Tuna was unbelievable! I was skeptical about the Fried Prawn Chips, but this was amazing. We had been excited for the lobster roll, it was ok. The fish Rueben however was fabulous. Heard about Dead Eye Dicks while reading a blog post on Block Island and I'm very glad they recommended it! They had really unique dishes that were also incredibly tasty. I ordered the vegetarian Bánh mì and it was delicious! I also tasted the lobster roll which, though it was equally appetizing, was a bit overpriced and not worth the high cost. I've been dining in Block Island at least once or twice each summer for the better part of the last two decades. For years, my go to was the National Hotel porch. While food at the National is fine, the addition of the view made the "package" my default choice for lunch. I was introduced to Dead Eye Dicks a summers ago after a bad experience at my usual. Wow. I've found Dick's to be consistently excellent and a reasonable value for the experience. I often choose one of their lobster rolls, which are generous and delicious. Food was okay, fries were great! We came on Thursday of Labor Day weekend. Lydia was our server, and she was not very attentive. The place was not crazy busy... Lydia didn't even introduce herself, the only way we knew her name was from our bill. I asked for a refill of water and after waiting ten minutes when I asked a bus boy, it was finally refilled. This is a must stop! Honestly perfect spot after we did a bike tour of Block island. The menu is so fresh and they have some great drinks too! Our number one pick was the crab ragoon flatbread! Delicious!! We were walking and came across Dead's Eye Dicks.. we had one of our friends in a wheelchair and needed a restaurant that had a ramp. We looked at the menu and it had great choices! A lot of seafood of course. So we checked it out. The inside of the restaurant was very roomy and opened space with a nice bar. There was also outdoor dining but there was a wait for outside. When we looked at the menu, prices were reasonable for what they had on menu and well.. it was Block Island. 3 of us chose the same dish ( Lobster Avocado BLT) then the rest of the group also Ordered a burger, calamari, grilled chicken sandwich and PO'Boy . It was well worth for what I paid for my lobster BLT. Fries were nice and crispy and perfect in taste!! Everyone ate everything and we were very satisfied. Tge portion was a great size and very filling. Our sandwiches were stuffed with lots of lobster. It was amazing!! Service was wonderful and they took allergies very serious. They don't have a separate fryer but GF but they had GF buns. We lived this place that unexpectedly happen to check Out. The one thing I must say is that the bathrooms weren't very roomie for those handicapped or in a wheelchair. Besides that, I recommend for you all to try this place. This place is right across the street from an inn we frequent, The Narragansett Inn. We've sat outside on the back lawn both times we've been here. There are several tables and fire pits as well as Adirondack chairs. There's a beautiful view of the water where lots of boats are docked. You can also watch the sunset (see picture below) This place serves delicious espresso martinis. Ask for them with Baileys if you like them 'creamy'. Cheesy fries are the best ones I have had! Fish and chips were so crunchy, fish portion is a little small. Waitstaff has been super friendly and accommodating. It was an ideal location being that it was near our mooring and also close to a ice cream shop. The line gets very long so be prepared for that. Edamame: Huuuge portion and was very tasty. The fish and chips: looked like they could be hit or miss from online. I ordered them and they were fine. Nothing fancy, just the basic cod with breading. WARNING: EXTREMELY HARD FOR SHELLFISH ALLERGIES Took over an hour to seat 10 people, make sure to come not during rush hour so you don't have to wait. Environment was a little loud and packed, LOTS OF GLASS BREAKING. I personally had a tough time eating here due to a shellfish allergy. My steak was baked which lead to it being medium well/well done instead of medium rare, my rice was changed to a baked potato, I couldn't have the mushroom sauce but they still put it on my plate, and they completely forgot my asparagus. I'm very pleased and thankful with how the staff was accommodating but it's very hard to get an actual meal when everything is contaminated. The rest of my parties food was hit or miss, some people who ordered things such as burgers or fish and chips loved it, but others who ordered things such as clam chowder or swordfish didn't like it one bit. I personally wouldn't come back again due to my experience. But it's worth a try if you love raw seafood. read more

My husband and I rented mopeds and toured the island one day. We stopped at Dead Eye Dick's for lunch as I had seen it written up on Yelp. It was the best lunch we had during our three night stay on Block Island. We were so pleased with our soup choices ... my husband finally got his a Rhode Island Clam Chowder which is more of a broth than the creamy New England-style that I favor. They were both delicious and clearly homemade. Their New England Clam Chowder was creamy without being overly thick. Perfect consistency. Mark's (hot) Lobster Roll was also superb, probably the best we experienced during our trip. My Fried Oysters (an appetizer) were small but sweet. Unfortunately, we dove into our food without taking more photos. CeeCee was an attentive server and timed our meal well. We liked the food and reasonable prices enough that we seriously considered returning for dinner, despite the $12 cab ride in each direction. Alas, we were very tired when we got back to our hotel after a full day of moped touring that we ordered pizza at our hotel and chilled watching Bing Crosby movies. Make sure you have a meal here. (This was after leaving a considerable tip, so she wasn't trying to get rid of us.) We were seated quickly on the porch, with lovely boats in the harbor as the backdrop. Beautiful! Dead Eye Dick's is a seafood restaurant, grill and bar that opened in New Shoreham, Rhode Island in the 1940s. It is one of the oldest continuously-operating restaurants on Block Island. In 1986, it was purchased by John H. Wronowski: an engineer who owned and operated the ferry line from the island to the mainland. It is still owned by the Wronowski Family and is currently managed by John's granddaughter Jessica Wronowksi. Dead Eye Dick's specializes in various steak and seafood dishes that are prepared with locally sourced ingredients. I have visited Dead Eye Dick's a couple of times over the years. My most recent visit was this past weekend. My wife and I were visiting Block Island to celebrate our fourth wedding anniversary. This was actually the last weekend on Block Island before most of the restaurants and shops closed down for the season. We stopped for lunch after cycling all over the island. For drinks, my wife ordered a Frosé and I ordered a Guinness. Since it was their last day before closing for the season, their beer selection was very limited. For an appetizer, we ordered the 'Hi Neighbor' Mussels: Narragansett Lager-steamed mussels with chorizo, white beans, fennel, lemon, cilantro, and dipping bread. They tasted so fresh and flavorful! For our lunch entrees, we each shared the Lobster Pimento Grilled Cheese and the Lobster Avocado BLT. Those sandwiches were sooooo good! On a past visit, I ordered their hot wings which were also quite good. Overall, we enjoyed our lunch at Dead Eye Dick's and will continue to stop by on future trips to Block Island. read more
