Winfield's has done a great job with their patio! Live music! Perfect spot for a drink! The service was excellent from start to finish!! The food on the other hand was....well underwhelming. First, the variety on the menu wasn't great. Luckily it at least had one of everything. It was like dishes tried too hard. The flavor combos were weird. I did love the mashed potatoes! But overall all five of us left thinking....nah, we probably wouldn't come back.

A long time standout on Block Island. A must go to, we go twice for every four nights we are there. The service is always excellent. The cocktails, wine, and food are always excellent. The Lobster Mac is a must. The tuna was exceptional this year.

I don't like to give negative review for restaurants but I'm sorry it's just a very bad experience. My rating solely based on the taste of food, regardless the restaurant's environment is ok , little loud, nice waitress... So let's talk about food. The appetizers scallops was soft & juicy, you should try. Lobster mac and cheese is decent. I had cod... The fish itself was fresh.. however.. what's wrong with the chef????? Whoever cook this dish totally screw up and taste like he/she had put 1 cup of salt making the sauce!!! If you have high blood pressure PLEASE don't order it! I feel sorry for my father in law he has high blood pressure and he ordered it too since the cod soaked in the sauce, it's EXTREMELY Salty!!! My tongue cannot taste everything else. I just end up drinking ice water and asking for extra bread to fill my stomach for the night since we arrived the island late and it's like 9ish pm. If you love the cod fish ..... And still want to come to eat ... I'd suggest you tell them forget about the sauce. Other dishes i will give 3 stars. **** Note: i told the manager who had long hair he ignored my feedbacks, lucky my waitress took my feedbacks seriously , the salt really making me sick and shaking .. i drank 4 glases water to flush it. She then took off the cod fish from the bill. Sorry won't come back again.

This restaurant seriously exceeded our expectations, great service, delicious food, and good atmosphere. Good for small parties or groups. Drinks: the cocktails are delicious, they also have beer and wine. For coffee at the end of dinner we ordered a cappuccino which was very good. Appetizers: we ordered the Winfield's salad which was delicious. My husband and i split a large salad and it was perfect. You can order a small or large. I ordered the lobster Mac and cheese from the appetizer section for dinner but you can totally get it as a appetizer or dinner. The portion is large and hearty, very good and copious amounts of larger lobster meat. Dinner: my husband ordered the pan seared salmon and the flavors and portion size was amazing. I was really impressed and blown away. Definitely recommend. TIP**** save your receipt and you can use it after to go over to Kitten's and this receipt excerpts you from paying the cover charge. Great place to stop by for a fun drink to end the night.

As we were looking for dinner on our short stay on Block Island, we easily made reservations at Winfield's 24 hours in advance. Walking in our table was ready and waiting. Rebecca our server took care of us and also threw in some local knowledge as she is an islander. She was very attentive cleaning up everything as we were done with it. We started with the seared scallop appetizer, they were melt in your mouth good and then off to a side Caesar salad with an excellent dressing. My main course was the blackened shrimp very nicely cooked. I finished the evening with tres leche cake. It was a great dinner experience and I highly recommend making this a stop along your Block Island culinary adventure.

Best restaurant on the island, hands down. Delicious cocktails, apps, entrees and desserts. Nothing on the island compares.

The house salad is very good. The swordfish is a solid choice. The jerk chicken is just ok- a little under seasoned/sauced in my opinion.

The service and the food at Winfield's is always top notch. Get the cod if it's on the menu.

Full disclosure I tried a bite of both...super yum! I opted for the lobster roll served cold with just the right portion of mayo, it was delicious on a buttered brioche roll. My sandwich was served with house-made pasta salad. You simply must try it! No mayo here but an amazing oil and paprika blend. I truly wish I had this recipe, so clearly we will be back next summer. Ordering was very easy online, even though the prices seemed a bit high. We ordered $109 worth of food...Arancini ($16), garlic bread with cheese($16), Penne al Vodka with sautéed chicken($32), and the Alfredo with chicken cutlet($38). I was expecting a lot for prices like these. The Arancini were 5 pieces the size of golf balls and the flavor was ok, not worth $16, out garlic bread with cheese ($16) was left out of our order, the penne vodka with sautéed chicken ($32) was dry and there were 5 small pieces of chicken, and the baked penne chicken Alfredo had broken sauce, full of grease and almost inedible...I threw out most of it. I expected so much more from this establishment. The parking lot was packed and parking just to get takeout was challenging, but the food and prices were amazingly disappointing. We may try their pizza to see if that is any better, but I would not recommend the pasta dishes. I can see charging g prices like that if the pasta was homemade, but even that is a stretch. 3 stars is generous

But upon tasting their food, it was clear, 'Viola' is just another Americanized Italian restaurant. We started with an a la carte order of: 'House made focaccia, roasted garlic spread, evoo, craft butter' This was fresh and tasty. We then shared the 'Caesar: traditional romaine hearts, foccaccia croutons, shaved pecorino cheese. classic caesar dressing.' This lacked any flavour, the romaine was cut into too small pieces, there was no hint of garlic or anchovy in the dressing. But the most disappointing dishes were the pasta dishes: 'Fettucini bolognese, house made, beef, pork, veal ragu, pecorino, basil, calabrian Chili.' 'Scampi viola, squid ink linguini, shrimp garlic, white wine, julienned vegetables, preserved lemon butter.' Although the pastas were freshly made, their textures were compromised; both pasta dishes were not 'al dente'. In fact the Scampi viola was drenched in a dark gravy and greasy. This is just not a very skilled preparation of pasta. A fresh pasta needs very little sauce, and should be dressed very simply so the 'textures' can be enjoyed. I ordered the: 'Zuppa di vongole: fresh little neck clams, vino biqnco, fresh herbs, crostini.' But this dish was replaced by a fried calamari dish. This was well prepared, actually the only star of the evening. This restaurant may succeed on its 'blandness' but will never attract the discerning diner who wants and appreciates authentic Italian cuisine. ~tiaotse~

I appreciate that their food is "farm to table" fresh, but the portion sizes should match the prices. Our table of ten spent an average of $320 per couple, and three of the couples had split their dinners. We did order appetizers and drinks as well. I explained my food allergies to the waitress. She relayed the info to the kitchen and did her best to accommodate me. I ordered a small charcuterie without blue cheese. It came with Prosciutto, manchego cheese wedges, pitted olives, red grapes, a few crostini, and a drop of honey. For my entree, I ordered a filet mignon. It came with dollops of instant-like mashed potatoes and prosciutto wrapped asparagus. My friend ordered a filet as well but his was cooked more than the temp he ordered. Instead of medium, it came out well done... charred on the outside, no pink, and dry. Mine, on the other hand, was cooked perfectly even though mine was medium as well. Would I come back? Only for a special occasion perhaps. ‍
